Perseus had spent more of her time on the surrounding these day's than she had patrolling the streets of Destiny. Tonight, however, she'd taken a break from the great rainbow road to focus on the problems a little closer to home. With so many senshi focused on the surrounding, she had a feeling that their patrols on the city itself were lacking as of late.

So there she found herself, prowling one of the less reputable areas of the city, in hunt for youma or anyone else doing naughty things in the night. Well, naughty in the sense of chaos anyways; Perseus didn't want to interrupt any other sorts of naughty happenings.

Picking her way down an alley, her boots clicked and echoed against the dingy walls of the apartments that surrounded her. She hadn't felt anything out of place as of yet, even after an hour of patrol. Apparently it seemed like the Negaverse had taken a break as well. Yawning, Perseus turned from the alley and made her way back towards the main part of the city.

And Perseus would be right.

Howlite [and her comrades, she'd assume, those that weren't preoccupied crying over their alliance with the Dark Moon, etc] had gathered more energy in the past week than in months prior. In fact, despite being told by others that it was unavoidable, she'd had yet to kill anyone. That was for the lazy, who'd rather just hit one person and get on with their night.

Howlie, social lass that she was, didn't mind getting to know people, and that meant spending late nights wandering the city. She did it as a civillian, regardless, her active, restless mind and body demanding it, so why not be productive?

The blonde felt a tugging at her psyche, a sense. That sort of disturbance that distracted her from her target: a drunk and [previously] aggressive young man, that now was slumped down the dingy wall of a liquor store, sleeping. It was just outside the alley, near a large dumpster, and Howlite realized that she'd been a little distracted.

Usually, she had time to finish what she was doing long before the 'good guy' actually appeared. This time, she was still condensing the energy into a small, usable ball, as Perseus appeared from the alley.

She didn't step away from the body, however, her slim fingers closing around the orb as she flashed a grin. "What's a lovely girl like you doing in a place like this?"

The sudden presence of a Negaverse aura did not escape her, but at least this time it was mercifully smaller than her own. It didn't mean that she was a sure bet to win a fist fight (there were a lot of freakishly strong lieutenants!), but it did give her an edge that Perseus appreciated.

She still wasn't quite sure what she was seeing however. Perseus had heard about the Negaverse's new strategy of energy collection versus starseed collection, but hadn't actually caught a bad guy in the process yet. Until now, it seemed. The girl in front of her held a small glowing orb in the palm of her hand, and the man slumped against the wall looked too knocked out to do anything about it.

"You could call me a sandman I guess. I'm here to make sure that everyone gets a restful amount of sleep tonight. I can't imagine that fellow you have there is going to enjoy having his energy stolen." Perseus took a few steps forward, moving actively into Howlite's space. She wasn't right up in her face, but it was definitely a warning move on Perseus's part.

"I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting before. Might I have the courtesy of a name?" After all, names helped with data collection. Perseus hadn't made and entry in a while, she wanted to amass more information first and do a mass upload. This new lieutenant would fit nicely into her collected information.

"What a coincidence. Here I am, doing just that. Tucking the lost souls of destiny city into bed." She didn't look away from the pretty little senshi, but she indicated the man on the ground with a nudge of her foot. The tall young woman tucked the orb into the inside of her uniform jacket, rolling her shoulders loosely.

Howlite looked unintimidated as Perseus moved closer. Neither was in striking range, and years of training had taught her more than enough about body language to be prepared, her lazy grin and sleepy dark eyes covering a capability that she didn't show off. Of course, she was still getting used to that pesky 'magic'.

She didn't defend her actions. There was no need to. Senshi, she had found, thought what they thought, and arguing was pointless. It didn't matter what the man had been doing before she'd drained him. Anyone that wasn't a part of the Negaverse was an 'innocent'.

"Call me a wolf," Her smile grew wider, "The question is... Are you Riding Hood, or the woodsman?"

"Neither." Perseus smiled, a new objective set in motion for the night. And that was to rob the poor lieutenant of her energy quota for the night. She'd not had much interaction with energy collection, but at least it didn't seem to have as pressing of a time constraint as starseeds did. The body could not live long without the soul, but it seemed that it was a different story with energy. The campers had lived and been mostly fine after a whole week of active energy draining after all.

"I'm the fairy godmother." The girl tilted her head inquisitively at the so-called 'wolf'. "Rather brave for a little wolf. You can either have a happy ending and voluntarily give up the energy in your pockets, or I can take it from you. Your choice." Perseus always attempted to give them the easy way out. She wasn't going to force a fight on someone who was willing to go without it.

It rarely ever worked, but at least it was worth a try. The Senshi of Illusion stood at the ready to move at a moments notice, waiting for an answer.

Howlite smiled back. What a lovely young woman, this senshi was turning out to be.

If Perseus thought she was threatening her entire 'quota', she was mistaken. The girl had only just begun, the 'attack' on the man at her feet a rather sudden start to her night. In fact, she hadn't planned to begin her patrol until much later. She tended to run from midnight until four or five in the morning. It wasn't so late, yet.

"Wish I could, but my wicked stepmother back home will make my life hell if I come home without finishing my chores."

What would Perseus do with the energy, anyway? It wasn't really as if she could harness it, and they certainly couldn't return starseeds... Perhaps she planned on trying to give it back to the man? Did she even know how?

Either way, she was stronger than Howl, in that magicky sort of way.

Howlite wished she could've found it in herself to be intimidated, but that'd always been a flaw of hers.

"What can I say, gorgeous, I don't know any better." Her smile, then, did in fact grow wolfish, reckless, and she stepped away from the body.

Her kickboxing training wouldn't continue to save her a**, she knew, but it definitely helped.

Damn that senshi magic.

Perseus really didn't know any of these things. Starseeds, she knew, could be shoved back into the chest as long as it was a short enough time between its removal and return. Energy collection, however, was something new that she didn't quite know what to do with. Not really like she was going to let on her confusion however. All she knew is that the less energy in the hands of her enemy, the better.

"Well, maybe the naughty should be punished." She didn't back down from the approaching Negaverser, simply just stared at her with determined eyes as she approached. It was always better with her attack to take others by surprise.

"Does the wolf ever know any better?" In all of the tales, it was the wolf that never learned. And then he ended up getting chopped into pieces by whatever was opposing them. Perseus gave it a few seconds and then leaped into action, attempting to get right up into Howlite's face to give her a kiss. She was going to start out with the weaker version of her attack, but that meant a bit more face-to-face time than her upgraded version.

Regardless, she at least had the advantage of surprise. For the most part (save for the cocky male lieutenants she'd run into), no one really expected her to kiss them. Anywhere on the face would do really, and that's what she was hoping for. The effects it caused would be worth any damage she took from close proximity.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 05, 2011 12:42 am

"I would reckon it doesn't, no." A short laugh. Girl could talk, Howl would give her that. It was rare that a senshi's banter was on par, and interested her in more than a basic 'I'm a villain, so I should probably not just walk away' sort of way.

It caused a reckless sort of grin to cross her freckled face as Perseus closed the distance between them.

Perseus' advantage, really, wasn't surprise [since Howlite was well used to observing an opponent, watching for the subtle tensing of muscles that led to a 'sudden' attack], but acceptance, when the Lieutenant failed to interpret her movement as an offensive maneuver.

The 'damage' Perseus took would be hands on her hips, the taller girl's head tilting as their lips met.

There was a faint echoing sound, and when Howlite's eyes flickered open, she felt dizzy, instantly.

"Oh..."

Dammit.

Her hand shot out, not at Perseus, but the wall, steadying herself as the world shifted. Luckily, she'd had quite a bit of experience with altered depth perception.

".... Some kiss you got, there, beautiful."

Her tone was light, for someone that just got smacked right in the face with magic. In reality, her muscles were tensed, ready. If, and when, Perseus got in range, well...

Howlite was deadly up close [when she wasn't kissing someone, that is].

Oh indeed. In her time as a senshi, this was actually the first time anyone had returned her kiss. Most of them were too shocked to comprehend anything, and those that weren't were usually disgusted. Actually having a kiss returned... and by a girl nonetheless.

Regardless, she didn't quite have time to dwell on it. "Kiss of Illusion." Perseus backed out of the lieutenant's light embrace and backed off a few steps to let the mind bending effects sink in. "I'm afraid that the wolf has lost its way in the woods." A glove hand clasped the sheath hanging at her side, its comforting weight reminding her of its powers. It was hard to hit someone when you couldn't tell where they were, or how far away they were.

"If you continue like this, you'll never have a happy ending." She frowned a bit before moving in, still cautious. Perseus had trusted too much in her attack a few times and reaped the reward of broken bones. Attacks still hit her, but she tried not to be taken by surprise. Instead she headed for the girls uniform pockets, hoping to find something worthwhile inside. "It's a shame really. The wolf can be such a beautiful creature."

She couldn't trust her eyes.

Howlite had thought so, but knew it the moment Perseus' fingers brushed her uniform, when they'd appeared at least a foot away. Squeezing them shut, her hand shot toward the sensation, looking to snag a wrist, something, anything.

Knowing she was at a disadvantage, the blonde wasn't overtly aggressive, as Perseus hadn't yet actually attacked her, regardless of the magic. If she did, Howlite wasn't sure she could win.

Hurt her? Yes. Win? Not really. Instead, she smirked slightly, "I'll take that last part as a compliment," Another decisive smack of Perseus' searching hands, as she backed away, until she could feel the rough surface of the wall through her uniform. "I do object, however, to you attempting to mug me."

The energy was where it always was, the pocket inside her lapel of her military jacket, the buttons of which were firmly snapped. The outer pockets would only turn out with frustration for the senshi.

How long was this damned magic going to last?

Perseus did have to give Howlite props. Along with her... rather interesting response to her delivery, she actually did something clever and shut her eyes. The illusion was just that, an illusion. Most people were too focused on running into all the things to actually thing about what was happening. She had good instincts, it was a shame that she was part of the Negaverse.

As it happened however, she was, and Perseus was running out of time. Her attack was probably beginning to wear off and her hands hadn't been able to find anything more than just pockets. More than once her hand was captured by the lieutenant and had to be pried away rather painfully.

She didn't want to pat down the lieutenant, seeing as that could be just as awkward as the kiss had been in the first place.

It was time to change tactics. Roughly, gloved hands grabbed the girls shoulders and pushed her back further into the wall. "Time to yield pup. This is not a friendly part of the woods. Don't make me fight you." It was a threat and a plea all in one. She didn't prefer to use violence, particularly on those recently blinded by chaos. Perseus would get more aggressive if she needed too, and she could still use her attack again as well, and next time it would not be the weaker version.

They were more alike than they seemed.

Howlite, too, had been waiting for a more urgent reason to strike, and Perseus gave it to her. Both of the senshi's hands were on her shoulders, attempting to threaten her, which meant that the blonde knew exactly where her torso was.

"I'm sorry," would be the only warning.

Two hard, fast jabs to the ribs that meant business, would let Perseus know she wasn't dealing with the average lieutenant, who knew little more than sarcastic comments and beating up civillians. Howlite was trained to fight, even if she didn't like to start combat.

Hopefully, it would knock her back, and make Perseus decide against her robbery. Squinting briefly out of one eye, Howl was relieved to see the confusion fading.

Only a matter of time.

"I don't want to break you," She kept the wall at her back, "But if you get close again, I'm more than capable."

She had the decency to look quizzical before the two jabs hit her stomach, sending her flying off of the lieutenant. Thankfully she hadn't felt anything crack or break, meaning she would just have two nasty bruises come the next morning, and a whole lot of aching. Right now, however, it just hurt. Unlike a lot of new recruits to this war, it seemed that this one (un)luckily had some fighting experience.

With a bit of a snarl, Perseus responded. "You'll find that I'm not easily broken Lieutenant." She didn't want to seriously hurt the girl, but she couldn't really just leave either. The super started forward, attempting to body slam the girl. If she couldn't take the energy, then maybe she could break it? Could it be broken? Would it explode? Perseus didn't know, but it was worth a try at the least.

"I'm sorry too." She did feel bad about it, just like she felt bad every time she threw a punch in a fight. It wasn't her nature to hurt people, it was just a sad part of her job sometimes.

The two of them made quite a pair, grappling in close quarters combat, Howlite's back grinding hard against the wall. She knew she'd have red, harsh scrapes in the morning, particularly in the sensitive skin on her shoulder, that Draconis had burned recently.

Whatever would have happened between them was curtailed by a sharp sound that cut through the night. A siren, and it was way too close.

Howlite's blonde head jerked up, her now-clear eyes widening slightly at Perseus in warning, as they heard the sound come closer. It was no foolish notion to think that the patrol car would soon be on them, as the red-blue of the strobes were reflecting off a nearby wall...

"Go..." A shove as she moved from the wall, pushing Perseus away, toward the other end of the alley, away from the passed out body, and the liquor store. Had someone seen them fighting?

Later. They would finish it later.

Howlite reached up to grab the end of a rusted fire escape, pulling herself up with an uncanny speed, and making her way toward the roof, and safety.

Intense. The encounter had been intense, and it took the lieutenant awhile before she could take full breaths again, impeded by adrenaline.

Perseus had the upper hand for now, but the whole thing was interrupted when the flash of red and blue flickered across the wall. Once it was a sound only attributed to justice being served and movie chase scenes, and now it was a learned reaction of fear. Sirens meant nothing good and everything bad; often in the form of yelling, spotlights, and bullets.

Intense blue eyes stared at the Lieutenant, lingering on just a breath after the shove. The little wolf was running, and now it was the fairy godmother's turn as well. Turning wordlessly the sailor jumped up onto someone's balcony, and then another jump until she was on a roof travelling in the opposite direction. Perseus took a chance and looked down on the cops who were closing in on the now empty alley way.

As much as she tried to help, she was a creature of the night just like Howlite was, both feared and misunderstood.

Perseus had a feeling that the two would meet again.
