Name: Kahar
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation:heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Ancientcraft (searcher?)/Apprentice
History: Kahar was born and raised by a metalsmith and a baker within the Weyr. Ever since he was a little one, he had the tendency to get himself into trouble, being both a rowdy and curious child. Sometimes, he just spoke up at the wrong time, while others it was because he was someplace he wasn't really supposed to be while out exploring the weyr... such as finding himself in one of the ancientcraftsmen's workshops while she had been hoping for some time alone to tinker about.

It was about then, that his interest in the ancient technologies began. The woman at the workshop, had been working on some strange device at the time. It ultimately failed pretty badly, but it was still incredibly fascinating to Kahar.

Later on, he ended up taking an apprenticeship under one of her colleagues to help seek out and find other old pieces of tech.

This small turn of events worried his parents to an extent, thanks to the general stigma the ancientcraft and what it dealt with had. It took a bit of convincing, and eventually his father came to accept it. To this day, his mother is still a little put off by the idea.

She became even more distant to her son when it came to him being one of the searched for the upcoming clutch of eggs. Kahar isn't entirely certain how to feel about the way his mother had been acting, but he does strive to get her to acknowledge him once again. At least his father had been more supportive about everything, so there was that too.
Description: Standing at 5'10", Kahar is a little scrawnier than other boys of his age. He can be pretty quick on his feet, but physical strength is definitely not a strong point for him. He's got short, scruffy black hair, dark brown eyes, and an average complexion. There's also a small scar over his right eyebrow from an accident as a child (he basically fell on his face while running around outside).
Personality:
Curious - A trait that occasionally gets him into trouble. Kahar likes to ask questions and try to figure out the 'why's' for various things. This ranges from wondering how things work, things about the past, to things relating to individuals. As a result, he might end up crossing some boundaries without really thinking or even meaning to. In the case of him prying a little too deeply into something personal, he'll generally back off when told, but that likely wouldn't stop him from wondering what the story is behind whatever he inquired about.

Confident - Kahar is pretty sure of himself and has a decent idea of what he's capable of. He has a pretty keen eye for detail and he knows it. There isn't a whole lot that could be done to shoot him down and second-guess himself, but at the same time he doesn't flaunt or boast. In other words, he has a pretty good level of self-esteem without having an overinflated ego.

Fidgety - Essentially, he has trouble sitting still or keeping in one place for long periods of time. He doesn't like to idle about and would prefer to be kept busy one way or another, even if it means to do some rather menial tasks. Being bored is something he hates greatly and he would rather do something he doesn't like all that much than doing nothing at all. In turn, this can make him a fairly helpful individual as he would often ask others if they need anything he could aid them with.

Rash - On the flipside, he's also pretty damn impulsive. Once he gets an idea in his head, he has a tendency to just run with it without thinking things through completely. If he's lucky, sometimes people will stop him and convince him why what he was trying to do is a bad idea (if it is), but otherwise, he just finds out the hard way. Of course, things don't always end up badly when he just bolts off to take care of some business.

Arachnophobia - Kahar absolutely hates spiders and spider-like things. If he could help it, he would keep the eight legged critters more than ten feet away from himself. And if he doesn't flee from it, he would usually go out of his way to do whatever he can to kill it... which usually ends up with him going a little overboard (such as stomping on one repeatedly after it had been smushed). That little accident mentioned earlier on that caused the little scar on his face? That was because one of his friends had decided to play a little prank on him, which involved a spider. He fled out of terror and ended up stumbling in the process.

Name: Heth
Colour: Brown
Inspired by: Hematite
Personality:

Heth...is just a little bit clingly for a brown. Thats not to say that he has to have his rider in his sights all the time but he certainly likes to know what he's doing and where he's going this likely stems from this dragons need for confirmation that everything is going well, has been done properly and that he can go ahead and relax a little bit. Thankfully once he's been assured that all is well Heth is pretty darn good at relaxing - this is a dragon who will sleep in the sun for hours without moving if his rider lets him. He might be called lazy from time to time though Heth dosen't mean to be such, he merely understands the value of down time and takes full advantage of it when he can. You never know when the herd is going to kick up some crap you have to deal with and Heth wants to be ready to dive right in and make things right when that happens.

Sadly he's not always the most decisive of dragons and so while he's more then willing to jump in and help out Heth is prone to questioning things...a lot, he simply lacks the confidence to make a decision and act on it without finding out if this is really truly the best course of action to take. That being said once this dragon has been convinced that this is the course they ought to take and his confidence has been reinforced by the assurences of his rider this dragon is fearless...completely and utterly fearless.

When theres no trouble about that requires fixing however Heth is a fairly sociable dragon, he likes others and he likes spending time with them, in fact he could probably be compared to that nosy neighbor who wants to strike up a chat when all you want to do is finish your chores. He really can't help it however Heth just likes to know whats going on with his friends - and Heth really dosen't meet someone whose not a friend even if he dosen't always understand that some subjects are ones people don't like talking about.

Why me?

Kahar's confidence is exactly what Heth needs to feel secure in life, his keen eye for details will hopefully spot out any potential problems before they happen and that's a relief for Heth, who needs that sort of assurance when it comes to finishing up chores and projects, while Heth's tendency to question things and make doubly sure that this is really what they should be doing might help to temper Kahar's rash tendencies to jump in without thinking.

Both dragon and rider are the curious sort, and although Kahar's curiosity stems more towards the 'why are you like this' and Heth's more towards the 'how are you' type of thought pattern, both can appreciate the desire to be in the know even if neither of them really respect personal barriers. Kahar's ability to politely back off if asked, however, might help Heth understand that some subjects are sore spots and shouldn't be picked at - at least in public, I'm sure the two will have many private conversations about it later however!

When it comes to downtime both dragon and rider seem to have differing positions - while Heth enjoys the serenity of being still when there's nothing else to do, Kahar really can't stand it, the two will have to learn to come to a more healthy compromise together and hopefully keep each other from the extremes of their current preferences..it's good to sit still once in a while and rest both mind and body...just not all the time and those are lessons that each of them can teach the other.

Hematite, also spelled as haematite, is the mineral form of iron(III) oxide (Fe2O3), one of several iron oxides. Hematite crystallizes in the rhombohedral system, and it has the same crystal structure as ilmenite and corundum. Hematite and ilmenite form a complete solid solution at temperatures above 950 °C.

Hematite is a mineral, colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red. It is mined as the main ore of iron. Varieties include kidney ore, martite (pseudomorphs after magnetite), iron rose and specularite (specular hematite). While the forms of hematite vary, they all have a rust-red streak. Hematite is harder than pure iron, but much more brittle. Maghemite is a hematite- and magnetite-related oxide mineral.

Huge deposits of hematite are found in banded iron formations. Grey hematite is typically found in places where there has been standing water or mineral hot springs, such as those in Yellowstone National Park in the United States. The mineral can precipitate out of water and collect in layers at the bottom of a lake, spring, or other standing water. Hematite can also occur without water, however, usually as the result of volcanic activity.

In the world of Gemstone healing Hematite can often be found as the main ingredient of magnetic bracelets or rings and is said to improve relationships and intuition
