At the start of Akhet, the pride welcomed a group to the Tuait’tekem and since then their numbers have only grown, with litters being born and other strangers joining their ranks. The Akhet flooding of the Chione left the lands around the river covered in rich silt and water, promising lush lands and to draw in plenty of prey. All the signs seemed auspicious for the year…but things aren’t quite right in the land of Khenet.
The current season, Peret, should be a time of growing plants and mild weather. However, it’s hotter than usual, and more like the hottest days of the summer season of Shommu already. This sort of heat was not expected for many weeks. There’s worry that the sun will scorch the tender new shoots before the grasses become thick enough to withstand it. This could affect hunting in the weeks to come.
But there’s no need to panic.
Scribes, your pharaoh calls you to help the hunters organise to catch extra food to try to store it by burying it in the sand, as a precaution. Artisans and priests, sing praises to the gods to right the natural world and sing to lift the spirits of your fellows. And in such harsh weather, the pride will need to keep out of the sun for a larger portion of the day; so let the Temple come alive at night instead! Unless something is tied to the time of day (ie. the dawn priest duties) it can happen at night. Youths will have lessons during the cool evenings instead of the mornings and hunts and festivities will also happen after dark.
Pride members should also remember their survival lessons, to keep their cubs out of the sun, to avoid exhausting themselves and to drink plenty of water.
((OOC: This is the start of the pride plot for 2011. We’ll update with the current weather in the lands and it will get more extreme as time goes on. At the moment, the pride has taken precautions but aren’t too worried, thinking the weather will pass. But it won’t.
Please take this into account in your current RPs in the land. However, we have one request; please don’t have cubs wander away from the temple to die in the heat. While all will be suffering a bit from the unseasonal weather, they’d never let cubs wander in the desert untended anyway, especially in weather like this.))
