It was the shrill cry that had caused Aurora Namid to pause in her step, head quickly snapping towards the direction of the call. It was the middle of afternoon.. and while youma attacks occassionaly occurred during the day it was rare. So it wasn't until she heard another shrill 'Help' that she slipped into a nearby alleyway, gripping the pen that quickly changed her into the eternal senshi of magnetism.

The daylight meant many people around.. civilians... police officers.. possibly even negajerks in disguise, but the possibility of youma danger outweighed that of being seen. Nonetheless she tried to stay out of sight as she followed the sound through alleyways, pausing when she finally found the source.

It was a little girl... One that didn't seem to be being bothered by any.. youma.. negaverse.. or even civilian. Just a little girl and a box of kittens, wailing loudly.

Perhaps it was her motherly tendencies... to not just walk away now that the girl was obviously not in danger.. so instead she stepped out, calling to her softly, not wanting to step too far away from the alleyway.

"Hey... Hey! What's wrong sweetheart? Are you lost?"

A chorus of mews sounded as the little girl and her box spun around, wiping at cheeks covered in tears with her free hand. "O..one of m..m..my k..kitties.. Down the drain!!!!" The little girl wailed unhappily, pointing furiously at the storm drain lining the street nearby. It was a dry enough day.. but a hydrant must have blown someplace because a steady stream of water was pulsing down the curb.

Ki...kitten down the drain? It was hardly what she had been expecting... but... she really didn't want to see the little girl upset.. or see a poor kitten drowned. The ones in the box were so tiny.

Hug-bell had heard the cry too. She was dashing up not long after Polaris. Staring as she heard the child cry about her kitten. "Don't worry! We'll save it!" She piped up before Polaris could even offer or refuse. There wasn't a chance Hug-bell was going to let the older senshi back out of it.

How bad could it be? All they had to do was find a way down and save the kitty and bring it back. Plus it'd help them right? Hug-bell was all about getting the bigger senshi to see the littler ones as big helps. She wasn't really thinking about any good press it might add for the police or what not.

She hadn't really been planning on refusing, but as the familiar chibi stepped forward and voiced their decision for them, she went ahead and gave a strong nod of agreement. "You can count on us, we'll do our very best!" She tried to assure the still sobbing little girl.

Her eyes scanned the street and the storm drains for some source of enter, spotting a manhole a little way down the road after a few seconds, pointing it out quickly to Hugbell before she made her way over. When she reached it she knealed, fingers trying to slip into the holes and pry up the surprisingly heavy lid. It took quite a bit of effort before the lid barely lifted and she was able to shove it far enough aside to let them in.

"Go ahead in and I'll follow after you Hugbell." She offered hurriedly. Who knew if the kitten could swim or if it was getting swept away by a current? There wasn't a whole lot of time, but Polaris wanted to make sure the lid was closed behind them so noone else accidentally ended up in the sewer too!

Hug-bell grinned at Polaris nodding, before following, "Need any help?" She asked with a pause as the older senshi tried to move the lid, though she seemed to have it.

The child nodded again and moved into the sewer taking hold of the ladder and scurrying down it as fast as she could. Reaching the bottom, it was a little smelly down here and the concrete her shoes finally touched at the bottom of the ladder seemed to be a bit more slippery than the ladder was. "Be careful," She called up to Polaris as she moved aside, "It's a bit.... slippery down here."

The child was debating on pulling part of her hood over her nose if the smell got worse.

The lid was slipped back over the hole as soon as she was down on the ladder, and the light in the sewer quickly dimmed to what little light was coming through drains.

"Okay" She confirmed as she carefully made her way down, testing with one foot before finally stepping onto the ground, offering a hand down to Hugbell as she waited for her eyes to adjust a little better.

It was smelly.. and it was grimy.. and dark. And Polaris didn't even want to think about what all was down here making it so stinky and grimy. Gross. Better to focus on the task at hand.

"We should check the ledges in case it was able to get out, but if it got dragged down in water and isn't very large it's probably still being dragged along."

"Can you tell which way the current is flowing?" She squinted in the dim light, making a bit of a face at the murky and junk filled water.

Hug-bell however was already pulling out a flash light she had in her backpack. "This should help." She said as she took Polaris' other hand when she was finished looking.

The child shined the flashlight towards the water and watched it for a second before pointing in front of them. "I think it's going that way." She said with a nod before looking around and trying to listen to see if she heard any sounds of mewling.

"It's pretty yucky down here." She observed as she started to make her way forward.

"Ha! Prepared just like a girl scout." She piped up, impressed that Hugbell had the forethought to carry something like that in her backpack. She'd never thought about it.. but it could be a good tool for the night. Even if in the end she just used it to try and scare off some of the more harmless 'criminals' of the night.

The light flooding the sewer cast a beam through the middle of the darkness, making the shadows darker but allowing them to see the water much more clearly. Really it was dank and hardly looked like water with how dark it seemed.

Hugbell's answer received a matched nod from Polaris before she began to walk, trying to war between stepping too fast and leaving the child in the dust and the desire to find the kitten as quickly as possible.

"It IS very disgusting. I'm going to need to shower as soon as we get out of here or I'm going to feel gross all day."

Pausing a moment, her head turned a little. "Did you hear that?" She thought she heard something. But maybe it was just the rushing water?

Hug-bell grinned, "Well I normally go out at night. So I bright it along for places I can't see down so I don't run into something I don't want."

The child did a small slow sweep with her flashlight to see if they could see any eyes peering at them in the dark. Maybe one of them would belong to the lost kitten. Frowning as she paused looking at a rat. "Ekk. It is disgusting." She said taking a step back. She paused as she looked around nodding in agreement that she was going to need a shower.

She looked around. "I... couldn't tell." She admitted as she tried to listen for somthing. "Here kitty, kitty?"

"I really could do with being a bit more cautious myself." She laughed a little, in more mild praise. Would she begin to the do that sort of stuff.. probably not.. in the end Polaris was often too brash... liked to bite off more than she could chew. But maybe she could try to change that just a little.

For as brave as they often had to be and the gross youma that they often had to face, Polaris too drew back a little as she spotted the rat, nose wrinkling in disgust. Who knew what kind of diseases it had, and a hand reached out towards Hugbell, but it wasn't necessary because she was already stepping back.

Polaris turned her head a little, as if trying to listen for a response to Hugbell's call. And in the end she thought she did. It was light.. but she's swear she heard a pitiful mew and some splashing nearby. Motioning with a hand she jogged forward a few steps, trying not to get too far ahead.

Hug-bell was right behind Polaris keeping up the best she could while trying not to slip on the wet and dank pavement. Her shoes weren't really made for this type of environment. The child was still calling for the kitty lightly here and there to make sure they were going in the right direction.

It seemed to be getting louder as far as she could tell. "How do we get it out of the water?" She asked as they moved. Perhaps she should've been carrying a butterfly net today, it was warm enough outside to catch butterflies so it wouldn't've been too odd... The child frowned, she was going to have to carry a hiking backpack full of stuff at this rate.

"I..." She paused at the question, debating the answer. She was kind of glad it was as dim as it was in the sewer to help hide the sour expression that had surely taken over her face. "I guess we'll just have to reach in and grab it or... if I have to..."

"I'll get into the water."

The very idea was almost gag worthy for the usually prim girl. But just as she often gave up her fun time for responsibility... Giving up her comfort and cleanliness for the sake of a life was just something she might have to do.

"If that's what we have to do I'll get in and hand the kitten out to you. It's best if I do it in case the water is deeper or the current is faster than we think." Her stomach was churning as the thoughts overcame her.. but a loud mewl drew her attention and quickly they were after it again, finally spotting the kitten in the dark water, clinging to a stick stuck amidst some other gunk.

Hug-bell nodded, she wasn't quite looking towards Polaris so that might also help the child nodded, "They really should make it so nothing can fall down here that's important."

She paused when she saw the kitten stuck to a stick. There was a frown, she was looking for something to help, "If only we could get another stick." She said digging in her bag was there anything that could be used to help?

She paused digging around in her bag looking for anything that might can help. The child was looking desperately for anything, she shook her head. "Huuhhhh I don't see anything."

"I know. Even if it's just wallets and keys.. I bet people lose stuff down the drains all the time"

Kitten spotted finally, Polaris was quick to gaze around the dim lit area, trying to squint and find metal in the area. She was really hoping that Hugbell was going to be able to pull out a stick from that magic sack of hers.. but when it didn't happen, Polaris could only grit her teeth.

She could try to use her powers.. use some kind of metal to try and grab or push the kitten. But her powers weren't really known for their gentleness.. she could just as easily knock the poor kitten back into the current again if she tried.

Even her eternal power, while much more helpful in this situation, was still risky. What if she couldn't keep her footing and squashed the poor tiny thing?

"I'm going in." She announced, more to herself then Hugbell, offering herself no longer to think about it. "Be ready to grab it"

The water was cold, though thankfully not as deep as she'd worried. The current wasn't so strong to pull her off course, merely tugging at her ribbons and hair with mild annoyance. Thank god for sturdy boots. Sloshing around waist height, Polaris was careful to keep her head held high. She would NOT be getting any of that water in her mouth or nose, no way.

Even soaking wet the kitten was so very light, it's body looking even tinier with it's hair wet and matted down, mewling pathetically in fear and coldness. Tromping back across the kitten was lifted up towards Hugbell.

Hug-bell nodded, "It's really dangerous." She said softly as she frowned failing to find anything as she looked around, "I really wish I had Ganger's bag."

Hug-bell nodded as she watched the current, hearing Polaris' be ready to grab it. "Okay." She said as she was watching Polaris wading in the water, "Be careful."

The child took the kitten when it was lifted up towards her she had a small towel thing that she was wrapping the kitten in. She held the kitten close to her in one hand, "Do you need help out?" She asked.

"I'm alright, just keep a good grip on the baby." She insisted as she gripped the concrete ledge. Her hands were slippery against the slick concrete, but after two tries she finally pulled herself up, trying for a moment to brush herself off, before giving up after a few tries.

"Let's just hurry back the way we came before me and the kitten freeze."

Her eyes had become more accustomed to the dim light, making it easier to make out sets of drains and ladders. Finding exactly which manhole they'd come out of though.. Polaris wasn't entirely sure she remembered...

Shivering she shuffled along behind Hugbell.
