It wasn't unusual to find Tambrey in the library at all. Sunshine, rain, snow, whatever was happening outside, one place that Tambrey might not be an unexpected sight would be the library. Currently, this is where she found herself; sat at a table, adorable leafy pokemon- Treestar- curled in her lap, while she poured her eyes over a rather hefty volume. The title, shallowly embossed, read 'Grass: A Look At Familiar Starter Pokemon', and Tambrey had it open at a chapter about Chikorita, obviously learning about the sleepy little grass type in her lap.

She petted the sleepy thing's leaf gently as he gave a adorable, snorty little mutter, then moved to carefully turn the page of the book.
Around half-way down, one might see, that the chapter gave way to talking about evolution and the next stage in Chikorita's line.
Tambrey adjusted her glasses and traced a particularly interesting line with her index finger.
"Well, aren't y' going to smell nice as y' grow... " She seemed pleased about it, certainly. "Doesn't look like y' get any less adorable either..."
She received another little sleepy grunt for a response.

Tambrey would suddenly find her light source blocked by an oblong shadow.

A tall oblong shadow.

A tall oblong shadow that made noise.

"Nuiii!" The shadow crooned - except it wasn't a shadow at all, it happened to be the fully evolved form of the same young creature sleeping in her lap. The Meganium craned her neck around and eagerly sniffed at the young thing, gold antennae twitching. "Nuiiii?" She crooned again, eyes flicking up to Tambrey instead.

"Leilani, donde esta?" A male voice asked, and suddenly a brown-skinned trainee popped out from behind a bookcase. His green eyes alighted on the similarly colored grass-type, and a lop-sided grin formed on his face. "There you are. Ah, lo siento," he apologized in sheepish tones - and posture and expression, as he slung an arm over the Meganium's neck and reached his other hand up to rub the back of his neck. "I hope she wasn't bothering you." He was about to introduce himself, but suddenly his eyes zeroed in on the Chikorita in her lap and his expression brightened considerably. "Oh, you have a Chikorita? How long have you had it? It has such interesting coloration," he noted, leaning to the side a bit to get a better look as his mind immediately whirred with technical questions and speculations he didn't bother to voice.

Blink.
Shadow.
Moving, vocal shadow.
"Eep! Uh."
Oh. A Meganium! Now that was neat. Interesting.
So this was what Treestar was going to become. Tambrey had to admit she was somewhat pleasantly impressed by the long-necked pokemon.
Large but still very cute.

"Um, hello." She greeted the large grass type and then moved the sleepy Chikorita slightly, who proceeded to yawn, waking slowly. "Uh. His name is Treestar." She offered, taking a guess at what might be being asked.

Aha, so her name was Leilani.
"Nice to meet you, Leilani." Tambrey managed to say, as the Spanish speaking trainee appeared. Hm. Spanish; it was a language she only had a very passing familiarity with and was glad when she heard words she understood a lot easier, though she had to admit it was a language she liked hearing.

She gave a quick look over him, gaining an initial impression that he was pretty likable; smile was good and infectious- she offered one back.

"Oh, not at all, she's lo-" Oh. Heh. So Treestar was getting quite some attention today. She did her best to answer the questions as they came.
"Uh, not long at all. A couple of days really; was a present and I'm pretty sure the colour 's why he was sent... I don't really know much about him yet, thus research," She held up the book she'd acquired then indicated his Meganium. "Any tips? Oh. His name is Treestar, by the way." A moment of thought. ".. And I'm Tambrey. Nice to meet you." If they were going to know eachothers' pokemon's names, she concluded, than she may as well introduce herself.

Treestar, meanwhile, was sitting up, blinking, with a dopey, happy little grin on his face. He looked up from Leilani, to Inigo, and back to the Meganium before yawning again. It was nice to meet new friends- of which he was sure these were- but he had just woken up.

"Treestar? Muy bien," he said with a grin. Any name relating to plants at all for a grass-type was, in his opinion, absolutely perfect.

Leilani crooned happily again, craning her neck to peer at Tambrey, but shoved her large nose several inches from the girl's face as she studied her with bright gold eyes. "Nuii?"

A brown hand reached up to gently shove her nose back before patting her head. "Leilani gets excited and loves meeting new people," he explained with another sheepish grin. "Nice to meet you too, Tambrey. I'm Inigo," he offered, resisting the urge to phrase it in Spanish (as much as he really wanted to). At the mention of research and the indicated book, his expression brightened even more - if that were even possible - and even the topic itself seemed exciting to him. "Ooh, excelente! De dónde -- ah, where'd you get him? Like, from this region or another," he elaborated. "I got Leilani in Makko, but that was years ago." Her was extremely pleased by her request for tips or advice - which he took to mean care. If she meant training, she'd need to ask someone else. "They're usually pretty easy," he said with a small wave of his hand as he shifted his weight to one foot, "Leilani likes to sunbathe. When she gets a lot of sun, she doesn't need to eat much, if anything at all. I also give her baths a lot," Inigo went on, "but you'll have to see what he likes. They're not all the same, but sunbathing - photosynthesis, y'know - is a standard for pretty much every grass-type."

The compliment regarding Treestar's name got a pleased smile and a "Thank you!"
And then! Meganium! In the face! o.o
"Uh. Hi." Tambrey smiled nervously now as Leilani was suddenly very close.
She'd already said it was nice to meet the pokemon and now she really wasn't sure what the grass type wanted. She really hoped it wasn't to eat her face; not that she thought that was likely, but then again, she was still learning a bit about these sauropod-ish pokemon.
Either way, she was a bit relieved as Inigo pulled Leilani back.
"I, uh, see. Well. That's... nice of her. She's very pretty, by the way." Tambrey tried to drop the sudden 'your-Meganium-wants-to-eat-my-face' nerves that had -very- recently cropped up out of her smile.
"It's nice to meet you too, Inigo." She returned, genuinely, especially as he seemed to appreciate the book and the fact that she was reading up on her new grass type, plus his knowledge of grass types was pretty impressive. And useful.
Photosynthesis was something that she understood, but hearing that the species would barely eat was still surprising despite making sense.
"Er. I'd have to ask Mum where she got 'm from... She sent him as a present.." Though, it wasn't too far fetched to imagine that perhaps he could be an import... "Baths? Hm. I could definitely try that... Quite soon..." She made a note to go to the pool and try him there. "Do they usually get along with other pokemon? This book just mentions others of the same species, really."

Treestar was a little more awake now and happy to be seeing these new friends. He stretched his little neck up toward Leilani and grinned his dopey smile at the later stage of his species.
"Ka-reetaa!"

The only thing Leilani wanted was to make friends! She beamed at the little Chikorita, arching her neck to lower her head - which was probably the size of half his body - to his level. "Niuuuum~" She crooned happily, blowing a puff of warm air at him from her nose. He was so cute and little!

"She hasn't seen a Chikorita in like, forever," he said - though neither had he, come to think of it - and offered the pair a lop-sided grin when she offered the compliment. "Muchas gracias," he said as he flopped an arm over the Meganium's shoulders. "And from what I've seen and researched, they do seem to get along well with others. Leilani always has, but that could be because of her temperament rather than a general assumption about the species. Most do seem to be good though and easy to train and get along with. Yours seems like he'll get along with others just fine," he said with a light chuckle. The little guy really was adorable. A thought seemed to strike him suddenly though, and he shifted a bit on his feet. "Do you have other pokemon?" She did, right? She had to. "How does he get along with them? I have a couple others I could let out if you want." That way he could see for himself. Although... they were all grass-types. And three of the four others were trouble-makers.

Treestar giggled and let himself fall back as the puff of warm air was admitted from the friendly Meganium. There seemed to be only one appropriate response to that action; try and lick the larger pokemon's face.

"Well. Treestar seems please to meet her. I'm glad she's pleased to meet him." Tambrey offered, before nodding seriously.
Anything he had to offer on the behaviour of this little pokemon, she was going to listen to and take mental notes like she were in a lecture.
He seemed to know his stuff and that was exactly what she needed right now.

"You're welcome... and, uh," She tapped a couple of the pokeballs at her belt, but didn't call anyone out yet. "Ella and Lasi- er an Aron and a Zubat; seem to get along well with him. And my bird pokemon; a pidgey and a pidgeotto seem to like him. But I honestly haven't had him long enough to say anything for certain, just that... most of my pokemon don't really have a problem with eachother..."
She blinked at the offer to let out more pokemon. It would be very interesting to see how well he played with others, beyond her own that he'd met.
She smiled.
"Please, if you don't mind, I'd certainly like to see how he'd get on? I have to admit, I didn't expect to find anyone, not a book, to be quite so helpful in here."

When Treestar licked her face, Leilani's antennae twitched and she crooned in an even higher tone, obviously incredibly pleased. "Niuuu!" The most obvious course of action - for her, anyway - was to respond in kind, so the much larger grass-type leaned closer to lick the Chikorita's face too.

"Leilani loves meeting everybody," he said with a light chuckle. It was true - the large Meganium was always ecstatic whenever she met someone new. Or saw someone again that she'd met before. She was always happy and excited about, well, everything. Oh, she was talking. He nodded to show he understood, and offered her a lop-sided smile. "That's good then, pokemon that get along are so much easier to handle." That said, he shifted his hand awkwardly to hover over his pocket, a clear expression of indecision on his face. The moment passed, and he pulled two balls from his pocket, releasing a Snivy and a Deerling. "I know a lot about grass-types because they're all I have. I studied botany en la universidad en Sandalwood," he explained as the Deerling hid behind Leilani, peering at the girl and her Chikorita with nervous gray eyes. The Snivy sneered at their surroundings before folding his small arms over his chest and turning his nose up at them all. Ugh, commoners. Oh well, perhaps his servant would feed him soon. He'd better, if he knew what was good for him.

The force of the lick that was returned actually lifted Treestar a little. Not that he minded that at all! It was fun! This bigger pokemon seemed very nice and he was enjoying everything about the meeting.
He wriggled, then got himself upright, leaf 'wafting' around happily.

"I suspect everyone loves meeting her..." Tambrey replied, with a mental note of 'except when she tries to eat their face', not that she seriously believed that /now/, but still, it was in her head.

The mention of the university got an uneasy little shift.
"Oh? Well that... that must have been interesting... I mean... I'm sure that was a pretty good course of study..." Should she let on she'd been there too? She wasn't sure about that. It was an awkward subject... Ah. There were pokemon coming out, that /should/ make things a little less awkward, she hoped.
And she grinned as she saw just what where released: Unova pokemon!
Fascinating, exotic little things.
Her heart melted as the little deerling hid, but the show stealer was, of course, the Snivy.
"Oh, wow! Look at how adorably /pompy/, he is!" Tambrey didn't seem to register that she may have just invented a word as she leaned forward to look.

Treestar, of course, didn't find this to be a comfortable development for sitting in her lap. But! There were new friends to meet and Leilani was still here, so he was happy to hop down. The deerling was getting his interest; he seemed already charmed by the shy creature and tried to peek around the Meganium with a big friendly, slightly dopey, smile.

Leilani crooned again as Treestar's leaf waved, and she tilted her head forward so her antennae landed on his head. He was adorable!

"I hope so," Inigo said with a chuckle as he patted the large Meganium's neck. "Oh, yeah, it was," was the comment about the university. He shifted awkwardly as well and didn't say anything else about it, instead embracing the topic of his Snivy. "Isn't he? He's been like that ever since I got him. Named him Dimitri," he supplied, "and the Deerling is Fantasia."

Dimitri swelled with indignation at being called pompy of all things - was that even a word?! Ugh, commoners. He huffed and swatted his tiny hands in her general direction, as if swatting away her terrible behavior and pitiful word choice, then crossed his arms and turned on his heel with a flourish to face away from them all with his nose in the air. Honestly. The nerve of some of these humans.

Fantasia, on the other hand hoof, squeaked as there was suddenly a Chikorita directly in front of her, and she ducked behind Leilani more. Her head was peeking out though, and her ears rose a bit hopefully. He didn't look scary or intimidating... "Nyee...?"

Treestar gave a little giggle when the Meganium's antennae landed on his head and wiggled his tiny stub of a tail.
He was very interested in the shy deerling though and definitely wasn't trying to seem scary; he'd never do that deliberately... unless it was in fun, of course and part of playing... but he was sure this pokemon wouldn't appreciate that.
He put on his friendliest smile, tilted his head, and chirped a "Cheeka?" toward Fantasia. Not scary! Besides, he was tiny and just wanted friends.

Dimitri's actions did absolutely -nothing- to change Tambrey's opinion of him or the collection of non-words she could think of to describe him. He /was so/ pompy and stickety and just adorable.

"Hello there Dimitri!" Tambrey greeted the grass type enthusiastically, still leaning forward toward him. "That's a brilliant name; it really suits him. It just kind of suits his pompiness and uppetiness..." Yay, more words that weren't strictly words. "When did you get him?" She was practically on her hands and knees to inspect the starter.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 12, 2012 3:08 am

Leilani crooned happily, but since the little Chikorita seemed to be interested in Fantasia for now, she remained where she was to let the two smaller pokemon interact.

The Deerling stayed behind the protection of the Meganium's legs, but she didn't duck away any further. This new pokemon didn't seem - or look - scary, but you never really knew... But still, if Inigo and Leilani and -- well, if Inigo and Leilani were here, she was safe, right? Right, of course. Yes. "Brweee," she bleated nervously, ears perked forward as she stood one hesitant step out from behind Leilani. Not very far, of course, just in case.

Dimitri puffed up in sheer indignation at Tambrey's tone and word choice, lips curling into a sneer as he waved at her even more vigorously. Didn't she get it? Ugh! Some of these idiotic low-lifes were so dull. Secretly, however, he enjoyed the attention. He should get all the attention, after all. It was only right.

Inigo just chuckled, a lop-sided grin present on his face. "Ah, I got him earlier this year, in spring. He just kinda showed up one day while I was sitting with Leilani, stared at me for a while, then handed me his pokeball. It was kind of weird, but," he shrugged, "I'm not complaining." Although the little Unova starter was nearly impossible to train. Not that Inigo really tried too hard.

Treestar wiggled his leaf in a little wave as Fantasia came out a little further. He looked up as Leilani made a sound and beamed up at her, before looking back to the Deerling. So, clearly the Deerling was friends with Fantasia, which meant that she /could/ be friends with other pokemon and, more specifically, with the sort of pokemon that he was! This made him very happy, but he seemed to be aware that the little deer pokemon was nervous and actually seemed to be making an effort to keep his movements as non-scary as possible.
"Cheeka ree!" He greeted, again waving his leaf, in response to Fantasia venturing out a little more.

It was /so/ tempting to try and pet the pompous little grass starter and the waving and protesting was very adorable.
Tambrey was content, however, to move around him, peering down to examine his markings and even peering at Dimitri's pointy little nose, before she looked back to Inigo.

"He just... turned up and handed you his pokeball?" The grunt's eyes widened and now she really couldn't resist. She put her hand out, in an offer to shake hands/leaf with the Snivy. It was that or try to poke him.
"How interesting! He sounds like such a fascinating little character... What's he like to work with? Oh, and his diet?"
She suddenly had so many questions about the Unova type; pokemon with such an attitude were just fascinating.
