It wasn't like Sheldon Hobbes never read, he just rarely held a physical book. Usually the green haired youth would simply buy a book on tape or find a pdf of whatever he needed to let his MacBook read something to him in its monotonous drawling tone. It helped him digest the information better and well, it just fit better with his lazy and placid attitude and daily doings.
But, for some reason, tracking this book in any audio sense was near impossible and he knew he wouldn't be able to get his sister to read it to him over Skype. Even if she was totally to blame for getting him to read it. Sheldon was following a trend and gave into the same hype that caught his sister, he was reading Hunger Games and even though his eyes were wondering why they were working so hard on something that wasn't a first person shooter, he found it rather enjoyable.
And would more if he wasn't interrupted so many times to move away from some precious children because he was smoking. The lanky twenty something was finding himself more and more into unfamiliar parts of this particular park only to find himself closer to the skating part. Which he had never ventured to. Even in high school as part of the druggie crowd, he was never so much into that stuff as some of his so called friends, so had never been to one. Which he couldn't seem why not, given that no one had yelled at him yet - even the parents who were watching their children with dreams in their eyes, hoping their child would be the next Tony Hawke or something.
So, he sat with his book, well outside the area as he read with the rhythmic sound of scraping wheels on pavement and metal became a sort of chorus to the words.

Of course one of those melodic scraping sounds ended up turning into the sounds of "Oh s**t." As Feliks came crashing and ended up stopping at Sheldon's feet. Lucky for the magenta haired boy he didn't break his face.
He looked up at the other reading and smoking simultaneously. Maybe he didn't even notice Feliks had been inches away from colliding with him. Feliks sure hoped so, as he scrambled back to grab his board, okay that move wasn't a good idea. However, his eyes were warily on Sheldon wondering if he should sneak off or apologize.

The sound of metal and the obscenity that was thrown in the air didn't escape the green haired boy's ears. Sheldon didn't fully look up, but his gold eyes lifted when the magenta haired boy fell close to him, his fingers gripping his book hard while his feet pulled in closer to the rest of his body just in case Feliks decided he needed to roll in order to reduce the chances of further injury.
When the other boy pulled himself up, Sheldon watched him silently and slowly began to resituate the comfortable position he had settled in earlier. It was often difficult to find that perfect spot again, but luck was on his side when he relaxed again and found it. The skater seemed to be okay, if not a little frazzled from his fall but didn't seem to be any sort of medical aid; not like he could provide it or something.
Though, he was also falling into the conundrum if he was supposed to say something. Sheldon's eyes were still upon Feliks as their eyes were upon one another. Could he go back to his book like he wanted or... did the other guy want some sort of acknowledgement?
Sheldon's gaze simply pulled off the other in front of him, uncertain as he decided on an alternative and simply took a drag from his cigarette. Hurray for option c.

Apologize it is. "Sorry about that man," He said as he picked up his board checking the wheels.
"I miscalculated I think." He added on trying to figure out what he'd done wrong in his head. Of course it was harder to do when he was trying to make sure he wasn't in any other skaters way. Frowning, oh well he'd figure it out after he did that a few more times, hopefully with less eating the pavement.
"Hm, what you reading?" Now he was curious after having noticed the book in the other's hands.

The ice was broken, and Sheldon didn't need to do it. Really, this pleased him greatly, though probably would have more if the other boy simply moved along and words didn't need to be exchanged.
But, life was never that kind. So, Sheldon simply shrugged with a roll of his shoulder, "no problem," he replied in a same vapid tone. His fingers drummed against his book lightly as Felicks began to explain himself, half zoning him out since he... really didn't care nor know much about skating to give any sort of input. "Aa." Was his only word, at least giving something.
And of course, they weren't done yet. The green haired boy gently placed the filter between his lips to lift the book a little better for the other to read it. "Hunger Games," he stated as best he could with a cigarette in his mouth, "my sister got me into it."

Feliks paused looking at Sheldon's book, this hunger games sounded interesting. So the magenta haired boy decided to sit himself down for a little bit to see if he could prod some information out of Sheldon on what it was about.
"So.... what's the gist of it?" He asked curiously, "Oh by the way I'm Feliks." He offered the other his hand in a greeting.

Wonderful. Now he had company and conversation ahoy. Sheldon mentally sighed but outwardly still looked terribly placid and perhaps a little bored. He held his thumb against the spine of the book, his other hand flipping through a few of the other pages that he had already read.
"Well, I'm not too far into it," Sheldon began in an even tone while staring down at the page he was on, "but its basically about a distant future where there's a central government and poorer districts surrounding it. Each year two teens are chosen from each district and are expected to fight in an arena gladiator type game." There wasn't much he could explain about it, given where he was in the story but he had read a good part of the summary from wikipedia before picking up the book.*
"Seems like it could be interesting," The green haired boy added with a small shrug.
"Oh, I'm Sheldon." He stared at the hand for a moment before extending his more free arm out to complete the gesture.
[*so did chiri, since she hasn't read the books yet >>;]

Feliks listened as Sheldon started explaining what the book was about. "It does sound interesting."
He was thinking, "It sort of sounds like that short story called The Lottery." He pondered, was that something he was interested in reading a novel about? It could be, he might stop by the library.
"Nice to meet you Sheldon." He was leaning on his board after shaking the other's hand. "Oh if you're around the park and happen to finish the book; will you let me know if it's any good?" He asked curiously.

"That was my first impression about it too," Sheldon agreed to the red head's assessment. "Just a little more battling and complexity really." the Lottery just ended with the death while this one just kind of delved a little more into the whole idea; even more then that Twilight Zone episode.
"Um, I'll be sure to... I guess." Was his reply to the request. It seemed an odd one given how not so frequently he was in this particular part of the park and how much of an effort he'd make to be here. But, well if circumstances brought him here then why not?
"Are you here a lot?" Sheldon found himself asking. He didn't know how skaters operated these days since the ones he knew were as loaded as he was when he interacted with them. These days, those with boards tried to ... well, do something with their talents or lack their of.

"Ah," he nodded thinking about how different that would actually make the story. "I see."
Feliks shrugged, "I'm here a good bit when I'm not working." He answered, "I work at Mad Marxz Skate Shop." Giving a nod towards the direction of the store, which actually wasn't too far away considering. He wasn't really plugging the store, yet at the same time he wondered if Sheldon would pop in.
"So yeah, you could probably find me in either place easily."

His yellow eyes took a quick glance in the general direction of where the magenta haired boy was directing him to. Sheldon didn't notice it at first, but given how little he really cared he was just going to take Feliks' word for it.
"Good to know," he replied. Even if there was really little to now chance he would seek the other boy out, but stranger things had happened so it wasn't like he could say never even if he damn well tried; destiny hated him like that.
With not much else to say, Sheldon dog eared the corner of his page in favor of digging out his carton of cigarettes from his shirt pocket. He pulled one of the sticks out of the box as his other hand went for his lighter. After a moment of silence, he gave the boy a questionable look, "I'm.. not like taking you away from practicing and all that am I?"
It was possibly a question to get him to go away, but really he had to wonder why Feliks was still hanging around him when he clearly was not interesting in the least. Sure, he had almost run him over with that board but... still.

Feliks watched and eventually shrugged off the good to know. Obviously the other didn't care and while. After all Sheldon had just lit up another cigarette, Feliks shook his head a little but got up and grabbed his board.
"Nope, not keeping me from practice, I needed a break from eating the pavement." He answered. Actually, the fact he was still around was probably because he didn't realize he was bugging Sheldon.
He looked at the time. "I should probably go check up on my little sis soon though. She should be out of dance class in a little" He shrugged softly and nodded to Sheldon. "You said you had a sister? Mind if I ask how old she is?" He was wondering if one of his sisters knew Sheldon's, after all Destiny City wasn't that large of a place... well it was and wasn't all at the same time.

Sheldon fought off a frown, not wanting to look too disappointed that the magenta haired boy wasn't going to go scamper off. Well, at least he wasn't getting any lip about his smoking. But, given how many punks were into the sport still, it probably wasn't at all uncommon; was it when he was a little younger? Then again, those days were a bit of a haze. The green haired boy let out a drag, brought back by the subject of sisters and he blinked. Surprising question, "She's older .. about 23 or 24," Sheldon told Felix. Why this boy wanted to know was curious, not like his sister really threw herself into many circles around Destiny City. When she was old enough to study abroad, she got herself out of Dodge. He was a little jealous. "So you skate and your sister dances? Interesting dynamic," he admitted with a flick of his cigarette. This pair were active, he and his sister took academic approaches.
