((Back-dating this RP since it was supposed to happen the day after the latest FMC meeting occured. l'D;; ))

Moure gave his room one more look over, flipping over a pillow that had a huge 'D' sewn into the front of it (Danny had left it with him after Prom, along with the majority of the room's objects), so that the 'D' was no longer visible. There was no need to make Edel wonder about why he had a pillow with an initial that didn't belong in his name in his room, especially since Danny had practically exploded when she had met the ice demoness at the FMC meeting yesterday. It didn't help that then Moure had practically been dragged away from talking to Edel after that (Danny HAD picked him up and moved him to the other side of the room, after all), and Moure didn't want to stir up any unfortunate feelings that still might be in the air from the day before.

In any case, Moure gave his room another quick glance over and then pulled the rolling chair from his desk a bit closer to the television set. Gibralter, his boogeymon, was sitting on the desk, watching the small stray firefox that was running around the floor. Moure carefully stepped over the little poof, and grinned over to Gibralter, saying, "You're in charge of watching Straye while Edel's over, alright?" The boogeymon looked from Moure to the excitable poof and then gave a nod and jumped down off the desk. He nudged the poof with his paw and gestured with his horn that they could go play or something, anything to keep the poof occupied. The puppy gave a happy yip and abandoned Moure, charging over to tackle the minimon.

Moure took a moment to watch the minipets with an amused smile, then moved over to his Eii. He pressed the start-up button, then put Scario Kart in, moving to the homescreen. The racer left it at that, and put one of the controllers on the roller chair, one on the bed. Everything was set. Now, all Moure had to do was wait for Edel to show up.

The events of yesterday had kept the ghoul up at night for fear that somewhere down the corridor, a certain flame demon might decide to rampage and punch through all the walls and do her in while she slept.

Well, it was a wild thought, but the awkwardness as the two ghouls made their way back to their dorms (with a very wide distance between them) was all very real.

Yesterday was also awkward for a couple of other reasons – the ghoul had to stifle her laughter as Danny practically carried Moure off to team up with him. She probably shouldn't have been so amused, given the obvious threat Danny posed after the demonstration of her RAGE prowess on the wall. Danny....boy was she... - nevermind.

Edel had somehow managed to get Moure's dorm room number and way making her way to the undead dorms for her Scario Kart lessons. The atmosphere at the undead dorms was kind of pleasant, of course, while it was not as elegant or richly decorated like the demon dorms, the cold air that rushed through the corridors was certainly nice to feel.

This should be it she thought, staring up at the door number. Stretching her hand out gingerly, she gave two cautious knocks on the door.

Gibralter was the first to hear the ghoul's knock, followed shortly by Straye excitely barking and rushing toward the door. Moure gave a slight chuckle at the silly pup's antics, then stood up. Gibralter lept from the chair onto the floor, chasing after the firefox and quickly trying to bar the door from the small dirt-colored puppy. It wouldn't have been the first time Straye had escaped, after all. (The pup's first 'adventure' had been the reason Moure'd been late to the FMC meeting yesterday, and neither the patchwork nor the boogeymon wanted to re-live that chase scene again so soon after the original escape.)

Moure quickly stepped over to his door and gently pushed Straye back with his shoe, trying to keep him from bolting toward the door. The pup gave a confused woof and then tried to push past Moure's foot. Gibralter gave an snort and began trying to herd the pup back to the other side of the room.

The minipets now away from the door, Moure opened it, revealing Edel. He gave her a grin and pushed the doorway open for her. "Edel! Come on in. Oh, just a warning; There's a firefox in here that gets really excited, so if he pops out of nowhere, he's just being friendly." As if on cue, Straye's head popped up from the other side of the room. The small eyes locked on Edel immediately and the pup gave an excited yip. He managed to dodge around Gibralter and made a beeline to the new friend. The straye firefox gave a happy little woof and nudged his head into the bottom of Edel's dress, but then gave a confused woof. Why couldn't he reach the ghoul? (Straye had originally been Danny's, so the concept of a ghoul wearing tons of layers was strange to the puppy.)

Moure leaned down and scooped the pup up into his arms, scratching the dirt-colored minipet's head and pushing the door shut with his foot. "Sorry about that. He's just friendly." Gibralter then appeared by Moure's foot and nudged it, telling his person that he could handle the firefox for now. Moure gave the boogeymon a little grin and set the pup down. He then nodded over to the two controllers. "You want the one on the bed, or the one on the chair?" He'd take whichever seat she didn't want.

The door creaked open to reveal a familiar patchwork boil. Oh good, I got the room number right she thought, relaxing a little to give Moure a smile. Given what had happened the day before, it could have quickly gotten a little awkward with Edel bursting into a bout of giggles or breaking into a teasing smirk. Thankfully, she managed to hold all that in, though there was an unmistakable hint of cheekiness as she greeted him with a “Hello!

And hello to you too!” she quipped, looking down towards the scruffy little pup nudging her at her heel.

Don't mind if I intrude....” she said, stepping into his room. It was neat, really neat. Edel's mind immediately went to her own room which at the moment, was covered in scrap ice from her late night sculpting projects. She would have to clean that up later. The frost demon's eyes drifted across the room, recognising a familiar scarestation set and controllers. Her eyes immediately went to the Skelevision screen and there it was! The Scario Kart start menu. It's been a while.

Spotting the boogeymon who came tottering towards Moure, Edel smiled and gave a little wave at Gibraltar and her attention was back with Moure once more.

I'll have the chair thank you,” she replied almost a little too quickly. Well, it had to be the chair of course! Sitting around on someone else's bed would be way too intrusive, much less a boil's bed.

Taking her seat and picking up the set of controllers, Edel turned around to face Moure. “It's alright if you explain along the way, I'll pick it up as we go along” It would only be too frustrating for a pro such as Moure to go through all the basics with her right? That was mostly a lie – the ghoul just wanted to play already. Besides, she had caught the gist of it during the open house just by watching him play.

"It's nice to see you again. And you're not intruding, Edel. I invited you over, after all." Moure couldn't help but grin a bit at how well Edel had taken to his pets practically charging them. The dirt-colored pup had reacted well to the greeting, giving a delighted yip at the ice-like ghoul and circling once before the boogeymon could nudge him away. Even Gibralter seemed to be a bit more accepting of the ghoul than he usually was of those who came to his person's room. (One could blame a certain fire demon for the boogeymon's paranoid behavior...)

"Chair for you, then." Moure gave a nod, then took a seat himself on the bed. He figured it was always good to ask, since usually Danny just threw herself onto the bed and flopped around on it and the patchwork wasn't sure if that was just a fire demon thing, a demon thing, or just a Danny thing. He figured it was a Danny thing.

"You sure?" Moure asked, picking up his controller and gesturing at the screen with it. He didn't want to throw her into the game without any help. Then again, she'd done pretty well on her own at the Open House. He gave a slight grin and a shrug, and pressed a button on his controller. The character selection screen came up, and Moure immediately toggled to his favorite character, Skeloshi. He then cycled through the options of Karts Skeloshi had. "So, general stuff, you pick your character, etc. The interesting part about this screen is that you can pick your icon's ride, and each have different stats. The stats are pretty self-explanatory, speed, power, handling, and so forth. You can start with the standard kart since it has the general all-around stats, or pick what you think you can handle or what style you'd like to try out." Moure was cycling through as he spoke, pausing on the standard kart and nodding at it before slipping through a few others until he got to Skeloshi's motorcycle. "I personally like one's with the highest speed and the lowest handling, but that's just my preference." He pushed his button and the skeletal dinosaur reared on his chosen bike, ready to ride out. As soon as Edel picked, they could get to the actual gameplay.

He looked over to Edel and then nodded at the screen. "Any questions so far?" Moure didn't think she'd have any problem with any of this, but he wanted to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything important.

Mhm...” It was a rather minimal response, but Edel's eyes were already fixated on the screen and so was her concentration. The ghoul listened attentively to his walkthrough on character selection and kart selection – that sounded easy enough. Edel eyed Moure's selection before making hers. Hmmm, how should I go about this? The frost demon toggled through the playable characters, pausing slightly at the headless rider in the middleweight class. Interesting outfit she remarked, though that thought was kept to herself. Edel decided that it might be best for her to start out with a more balanced character first and then zero in on the aspects of the gameplay she would enjoy the most. Headless rider Luigi it is and a standard kart – now they were good to go.

Glancing over at Moure, the ghoul gave him a simple shake of the head in response to his last question. She then broke into a grin and turned back to face the screen.

Moure was actually a little surprised by how into the game the ice demoness had become, although it was a pleasant surprise. He should've known that she'd be ready to roll, so to speak, from how she'd acted at the Open House.

As soon as Edel picked a character, the screen switched to the course selection screen. As she had no questions about the last section, the Runner gave a nod and gestured slightly to the map-picking selection. Moure doubted he really needed to explain every step of the way, but it wouldn't hurt to do so. "Here's the screen where you pick the course to play. Each poses it's own individual challenges, strengths, and weaknesses. They all have their own style of course, such as how the classic course isn't too much more then just a eight-shaped track, while some of the others are much more complicated. We'll take our first test drive out on the classic course, alright?" Moure glanced at Edel then pressed a button, bringing down a menu. He gave a nod to the screen and said, "By the way, you can also make customizations to the gameplay, such as how many players will race or what kind of gameplay you want to do. We'll have a few computer competitors, and go with the normal race mode for now. There's also a battle mode and a collecting mode." He added, toggling at the options as he spoke of them.

After the alterations were made, Moure pressed a button, and the cursor highlighted the classic course. "Here we go." He said, pressing the button again. The map folded out, and the two players, Skeloshi and Headless Luigi, took to the starting line, along with several other low-skill computers. Moure held his controller up slightly so Edel could see it as the screen began it's countdown. "General stuff for the in-game controls. Press 'A' to accelerate, the shoulder buttons" -Moure pointed out the R and L buttons while saying this term- "unleash speciality items you pick up, and the control stick controls which direction your kart goes. The map is in the top corner, and it shows where your kart and the opponents' karts are. So, we can putt around for a bit, or dive right into the race. Your choice." As he finished speaking, the screen flashed "GO" in bright red, and the computers began their movements at a rather slow pace. Moure's kart crept from the starting line, slow enough that he could pause if Edel wanted to practice some movements, but fast enough to be able to make up time if she went all out.

Gibralter and Straye moved to near the foot of the bed, sitting on either side of Moure's feet as the race started. Oddly enough, both of the minipets enjoyed the game, if only because it brought their owner so much joy.

Edel glanced back and forth from the skelevision screen and Moure from time to time, taking in all the explanations and instructions. She figured that she wouldn't be getting it right off the bat, but a few goes at the game would certainly give her the experience she needed. Edel made a mental note to herself to visit the Maul sometime. She would be getting her own scarestation for sure.

The ghoul observed the set of controllers as Moure explained what each button meant. R+L to use a special move, control sticks to set the direction. Edel fiddled around with the control sticks, as if trying to recall the previous time she played Scario Kart. Pretty intuitive, at least for this part. Her eyes then went back to the screen, watching the countdown to the start of the race.

3, 2, 1. GO!

Press 'A' to accelerate huh. Well then.
The frost demon's face was absolutely stoic as she jammed down on the 'A' button the second the screen cleared, speeding off ahead. This was game mode on.

Hm, pretty decent progress thus far, other than the bad corner where she over-swerved a little. Edel then took a glance at the side of the screen which flashed the mini map and indicated their positions on the track.

Now, where could Moure be?

Moure wasn't sure what to expect when the race began. From what he'd seen at Open House, Edel seemed like the type to revel in victory and play seriously. He compared this to her everyday personality (well, what he'd seen of it) and tried to imagine how the rest of this race would go.

He risked a glance over to Edel when the race started, and couldn't help but grin at how absolutely focused she seemed to be on the game. He'd have to make sure the controllers were all functioning properly after she left, or at least that 'A' button. She was making pretty good speed too, a little less than average, which was good for her standard kart.

Moure let his Skeloshi's bike stall for a moment, then pressed the button for acceleration. The motor seemed to purr under the relaxed way Moure engaged the bike, and Skeloshi tore away from the beginning area. The bike quickly made up time, and soon Headless Luigi's kart was in sight.

Moure's kart passed the frost demon's kart, and the Skeloshi popped a wheelie. They were starting to enter the main curve and Moure took a moment to explain things that littered the sides of the track. "Technically, you can go off the track, but that'll only slow you down. Turning into curves can help keep your speed, but you have to know the limits of your kart so you don't over-turn or overcorrect yourself." Moure's own bike wasn't too far from the edge of the inner curve, and didn't seem to be leaving that spot anytime soon. His control of the bike kept it from sliding into the dirt-covered pitfalls that littered the area around the inner curve. His skill with high-speed, low-control karts was visable as he kept the bike from toppling over the edge.

For a moment, Edel would have liked to think that she was ahead of Moure in the game – hell, even she knew that wasn't going to happen. There was an inexplicable twang of annoyance that Moure was so comfortably ahead of her, and could even spare the time and concentration to explain how things worked for her. The frost demon had no idea why she was feeling this way, Moure was clearly way more experienced than her, so how could she expect to beat a veteran at his own game. Edel figured that part of it was due to the fact that she had a great start the last time she played. That was really just beginner's luck huh?

Still, the frost demon maintained a front of nonchalance as the adrenaline surged in her. The only way she would have given her excitement away was if one were to observe the manner in which she handled those controllers. As they began to break away from the corner and go into a straight, Edel hit the A button again, trying to make up some pace. There was a marginal improvement in terms of speed, but the frost demon had committed the mistake of running over a banana peel midway which cost her some time.

Edel was feeling a sense of notimpressedplz.

Moure noticed how well Edel was doing, even if it was only her second time playing. He would've applauded her, had he not been 'driving' at that moment. "You sure you've only played back at the Open House? You're doing great." The banana slip was a bit unfortunate, but it happened to everybody. Hey, it even happened to Moure, on occasion.

Again, Moure thought to himself that he'd have to check over that controller to make sure it wasn't crushed between Edel's focused driving. She seemed really into the game, which pleasantly amused Moure. He was glad he could bring the joy of Karting to another person.

Moure gestured back at the screen, knowing the surprise boxes were coming up soon. "Now, there'll soon be boxes floating in the middle of the road. They glimmer a bit, so it shouldn't be hard to recognize them. Each one contains a special item, such as that banana you hit eariler. The L and R buttons are what deploy those items. If you have any questions about what item you've got, like what it does, feel free to ask." Moure said, noting that the boxes were coming into view.

Moure slowed his bike, allowing himself to go at the same rate as Edel's standard kart. He was tempted to zoom ahead and get an item, but he was holding back. Moure wanted to see what Edel might get if she tried to pick up an item.

((OOC Question: Should we incorperate the items too, or do you want to just race? o u o; (If we did, we'd just use them as RP flavor otherwise it might get complicated. XD; )))

((Sure! I'll roll first and see which item might be appropriate to explain the result lD))

Edel gave a brief glance at Moure, her eyebrows raised as if to say : really? It was a similar comment to what she had gotten from him at the Open House – well, she'd take that as a compliment actually. She hadn't crashed into anything so far – that was probably a good thing.

What Moure had to say next, the ghoul paid more attention to. Yes, she could see those glittery boxes coming up ahead from a distance. Did she.....have to just run into them? There wasn't much time for thought though, before she knew it her Kart had hit one and it shattered. A little box appeared at the corner of the screen with a mushroom on it. And to use it, the L and R buttons huh? Edel wasn't sure what that mushroom would do, but it wouldn't hurt to use it anyway.

The ghoul took her eyes off the screen to look at the controller for the R and L buttons, being unfamiliar with the controllers after all. Ah – found them. Pressing down on the two shoulder buttons at the same time, the ghoul would find that her kart had gotten a little speed boost and zoomed ahead of another computer-player driver in front of her. Her eyes brightened and she sat up straight, clearly impressed by the result. She was also pleased that she was learning more about the game – she knew how to use an item now rather than just speed through the course like she did at the Open House. That certainly added an element of excitement to the game and she was enjoying all of it.

The checkered strip was looming ahead, just a few more seconds before the race would be over. Setting her kart on a straight path through the finishing line, Edel turned around to see how Moure was doing.

(PFFT Dice. XDDD I was almost hoping he'd get a one or something. l'D;; )

Moure caught her eyebrow raise, and reflected on back her at, although his mouth was tipped into a grin as if to say, 'Yes really' back at the Frost Demon. She was doing impeccibly well for someone playing for the first time. She was keeping up with Moure's faster, lighter motorcycle, and she hadn't fallen off a cliff yet. He considered that to be very good, indeed.

As the items came, Moure veered his bike into one, watching as the shapes spun in the top left hand corner before settling on one; something that looked more or less like a cartoon-like bullet. He kept an eye on hers too, noticing that she got a decent one. He nodded at her half of the screen, "The item you just got is a power-up that increases your speed for a short burst. They can come in handy in times of need, such as for when you need to pass someone on a corner of just need some more speed." Then, he nodded at his own section. "I got one of the rarer items. This one speeds you up and controls your kart for a short period of time. During that time, it guides you through the pathways so that you won't hit anything that might pop out of the path. It'll also chose the fastest and safest path, depending on the course." Moure, watching as her kart actually sped past his own for a moment. Then, he pressed his own item launching button, and watched as a oversized bullet strapped itself to Skeloshi's motorcycle.

The bullet then sped off in the direction of the finish line, pulling the kart along the path at high speed. Moure's hands were limp on the controller, knowing he wouldn't have to do anything now. Skeloshi passed a computer player, then passed by Headless Luigi's kart. It crossed the finish line, the number "1st!" blinking across Moure's side of the screen in red. Edel was well ahead of any of the computers, so it was obvious she'd come in second, this time.

After the karts rolled across the finish line, Moure looked over to Edel, giving her an acknowledging nod and grin. "You did really well for your first official time through. If I hadn't gotten the Bullet, you'd probably have beaten me." While Moure did like competitive racing, Edel had done well, and she deserved to be congratulated. Moure nodded at the screen again. "You want to go another round? Try out another of the courses? They all have their own advantages and challenges, along with specialty ramps and secret passages." Moure hoped the frost demon would accept his invitation. She was quite a good player, and Moure enjoyed racing against her. "A little more practice, and I think you'll be running over everyone else in the Scario Kart Club." Moure said with a bit of a grin. It was true though. He could make a great racer out of her yet. She had all the potential. Now she just needed the practice.

Aaaand as expected, the veteran had won. Instead of feeling sore though, the frost demon had a coy smile on her face.
That was fun!

You're too kind with your praise, really,” she said with a small laugh. Edel stopped to stare at the screen for a while, watching the results flash and Skeleoshi's victory lap. It then struck her that Moure....would have been bored with such an easy track. Oops.

Setting the controllers down on her lap, the ghoul turned to face the patchwork boil with a very earnest request.

Could you do a demonstration for me, please?” Now it wasn't just that she felt bad for making Moure play a game too easy for him, but the frost demon was also interested to see what the more advanced tracks looked like. She wanted to see what else was there in store.....that she couldn't quite make it through yet.

Plus, it would be a good chance to watch and learn from a master.

Moure was glad to see that Edel was taking to the game well. It was just like he'd expected, generally. It was also good to see that she wasn't sore about his victory.

"It's all true though. You wouldn't want me to lie to you about something you're good at, would you?" Moure responded sincerely, a bit of a chuckle forrming as Edel laughed too. Moure looked from the frost demon to the screen as the victory lap finished.

The slight sound of a controller being set down came to Moure's ears. He looked back to her with curiosity, looking from the controller to Edel's face. Was she done already?

"Hm? Oh, yeah. Sure, Edel." Moure gave her a grin, all the while pressing buttons and toggling other controls. The screen moved from the victory screen back to the course selection, then to the number of players. He glanced to the screen before toggling the controls so Skeloshi was the only Player Kart there for the moment. Then, the screen moved to the opponents, which he switched to a few mediums, with most either on hard or expert-like levels. He pressed another button, and the screen moved to the course selection again.

"Since you've seen the original course, how about one of these..." Moure scrolled over on the screen to some of the more advanced courses. Before he could actually pick one, Straye hopped up onto the bed. And then onto Moure's controller, his fluffy mass pushing down on one of the buttons.

The cursor was on one of the more colorful ones, a bright bridge-like course. Moure stared at Straye for a moment, then gave a chuckle and picked up the pup. He put him on the side of the bed as the starting screen started. Moure gave Edel a slightly-sheepish grin and said, "Hehe....I guess I'm playing this one, then. At least he didn't do that in the middle of the race." Moure gave a little, slightly strained laugh, scratching the firefox on it's head and shaking his own slightly.

He put his hands back on the controller as the 'GO' flashed, immediately revving the bike and rocketing off. He glanced at Edel and said, "Sorry if this race is a bit of an eyesore. I think it's supposed to be so rainbowy that it distracts you from actually racing." Moure's bike was zipping along at a pretty good speed, swerving around other karts and diving around brightly colored obstacles.

Soon, his bike moved to the front of the pack, the other karts doing their best to knock Skeloshi out of that position. Moure gestured at the screen with his controller, knowing that in this race it might've been a bad idea to look away. "When the computers are set to a higher difficulty, they can also get a bit...agressive. I'd watch out for that, when you start playing against them."

Valiantly, Skeloshi escaped the grasps of the other karts, although one was toe to toe with him. The motorcycle caught a item and was awarded a regular mushroom. The finish line was in view, and Moure used the speed-booster just in time to zoom clear past the computer and hit the finish line. Moure looked over to Edel with a happy grin. "And there you have it. That's one of the more...brightly colored races, but that's generally how the computers act on the more dangerous settings. Did you like it?" Moure beamed a little. That had been a very good race, and he was happy he'd won in front of Edel.
