According to the girls in her class the local band "Moonlight Song" was fairly decent and consisted of boys that were not only cute but seriously crush worthy. Kyndall was not, however, a seventeen year old girl so she'd have to take their word on that last bit. She only had one crush hopeless as it was and didn't think to start another on boys that were much too young for her in maturity and in the eyes of the law.

Still, she was a rather large supporter of the arts, especially local bands. It's why she found out where they were playing next and showed up for the show dressed casually. She sat near the front but didn't go nearly as gaga for the band as the girls did in front of her. She kept hearing squealing that would have put her off the music entirely if she hadn't moved.

Her eyes wandered over the band members and settled on the bassist. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was his hair she liked. Maybe it was the casual way he played. She didn't know. Maybe it was the slightly sad expression in his eyes, even while playing, that drew her gaze. She wasn't sure. After the show she gracefully sidestepped the fangirls and made her way over to him to say hello.

"You have a certain stage presence that's hard to put a finger to." she told him, speaking loud enough to carry over the other noises in the club. "I've never actually seen someone that manages to look so melancholy while on stage before."

The bassist in question looked up from putting his bass away, blue hair flicking as he moved. The woman who walked up wasn't one of the fangirls, or at least didn't look like it. He glanced over her, eyes flicking for a moment before centering on her face. She was... okay looking, in his eyes, but totally out of his age range.

"I don't look that sad, do I? Heh... woulda thought that would have changed lately. Ah well. You don't look like the usual fan base at the gigs," he said to her, wiping his hands off on his jeans. One of the band mates yelled across the stage and he looked at them for a moment and nodded. Merric then turned back to the woman with the long green hair.

He wondered off handedly if the color was natural or not.

"I should hope not. I'm far from being a screaming teenage girl. However, I am a supporter of the arts. And where I teach your band is somewhat popular. I thought it might be worth a listen."

And, of course, her hair was entirely natural. She didn't wonder the same of his blue locks. Seeing him up close she had to amend her original statement. When she could see his eyes at this distance he was right. He didn't look sad...just a little pensive, distant.

"Maybe you don't look sad. Sad was the wrong word for it. Thoughtful is probably a better word. Distant works, too. Like you're lost in your own thoughts while you play. It's interesting to watch."

She offered her hand to him like a civilized woman would. "I'm Kyndall, Rosen. I teach drama at the Crystal Academy."

He raised a brow at her. A teacher huh? Yeah definitely out of his age range, not to mention, he was dating Odette, and that wasn't going to change for a long long while. He snapped his guitar case shut and clasped it, lifting it onto the stage. His band mate Greg came over and picked it up, giving a nod to Kyndall.

"Thoughtful, eh? You could say that. I loose myself to the music when I play," he said. And he had a lot on his mind these days normally. Senshi, Negaverse, youma, mirrors, Surroundings, missing civilians... plus school, band practice, seeing Odey, gigs... it was a wonder he wasn't passed out from exhaustion.

He took the hand and shook it. "Merric Hollinger. I go to Meadowview High School as a senior this year." It was polite to say who he was in return, but he was curious as to why she'd come to him out of all the players of the band. He was the one the girls fawned over the most (Odette was a prime example, when they first started out), but he was the reserved one, and Greg was lead singer and guitar. Most of the adults who came to their gigs talked to him, not Merric.

Interesting.

"It's nice to meet you, Merric."

She wasn't ignorant of the girls watching them with disapproving looks. She imagined Merric got a lot of attention without trying much for it. Being in a band, even a teenage rock band, was enough of a draw for girls. She probably came to him because he was reserved and that look of being aloof caught her eye as he played.

Greg, for example, seemed painfully aware that he was being watched by everyone in the room. He played to the crowd in the normal way lead singers do. He was even a bit flirtatious with it. After all, if the lead singer can't get the girl - who can? But she'd seen that often enough to last her. It was the far off look Merric had, losing himself in the music. It was clear he did it for no one else but himself. That was rare.

"Your band came highly recommended by the girls in my class. They've been on me to see a show for months. It so happened I had time tonight. You guys didn't disappoint."

And she'd seen a lot of bands in her time in Destiny City. She was an avid supporter of the arts.

He chuckled. Yeah... those were his normal crowd. Screaming, fangirling, crazy chicks. All at least two years younger than him to almost the middle of college range. Merric ran a hand through his hair.

"Thank you for thinking so highly of us. It's really a group effort, even if Greg only sings most of the time. " He gave a bow of his head, sliding his hands into the pockets of his jeans. It was nice to hear support from the adults, instead of rage.

His mind flickered for a moment to the after gig halo showdown soon. Did I take my bike or... ah yes I did. A'right, he thought off handedly, just to make sure if Greg and the group were going to wait for him or not.

"Who said I think highly of you?" she joked. She hadn't actually mentioned, to that point, that she liked his music. She just mentioned she found the way he looked while he played interesting. And that his band was recommended by teenage girls that thought teenyboppers like Jesse Tate and Sarah Matthison were the height of musical talent. Highly suspect.

Truth to tell, though, was that they weren't bad. A little unpolished, maybe, but not bad. She waited a moment to let her words sink in before offering him a genuine grin. She shrugged and chuckled.

"Relax. You guys are pretty good. It's a young sound but I'm not against that. I hear a bunch of bands in Destiny City. Moonlight Song compares favorably."

Compares favorably? Could she be more of an adult?

He snorted a bit. Anything positive said about his band was, in his mind, thought highly of it. Most adults raged on them for being "too young, too new, too scandolous." The last one always made Merric chuckle. Scandalous? Really? Where they even listening to the words of Greg's songs, or the covers? Just because they weren't the early Beatles didn't mean they were scandalous. Ah well.

"They used to say that about the Beatles too. Anything else, Ms Kyndall? Its almost time for me to go," he said, glancing at a clock in the back of the club. Most of the people who came to see Moonlight Song had already left and those who were left were the drunks.

And Halo was calling.

It wasn't too hard to see his interest in the conversation had waned. It wasn't surprising. He was probably amped from his performance and had a girl waiting for him somewhere. He didn't want to spend what was left of his night hanging around some teacher to talk about his skills as a bassist. He wanted to go out and live his life. She was keeping him from it.

Times like this she felt WAY TOO OLD. And a bit like a creeper. Being a patron of the arts didn't keep her safe from feeling completely out of place when her age was pointed out or when she became suddenly aware of it. She looked good for thirty four with a teenager at home but not enough to blend with this crowd.

"Obviously I'm keeping you from something important. Goodnight, Merric. It was nice to have met you. I think I'll recommend your band to my daughter. She's in your target audience, I think."

Here meaning below her twenties. She waved to him and made her quick exit, feeling foolish and blushing as she hit the night air.

"Thank ya, ma'am. Have a good evening. " With that he climbed back on stage and jogged out the back. His phone rang and he answered it

"Dude where are you? You were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago.... Wait am I interrupting you and Odey fu----"

"No, Ilona. You know it isn't like that. Some Crystal Academy teacher was talking to me. Kinda creepy. Anyway I'm on my way so calm down." The teen clicked the phone off and ran a hand through his hair. He straddled his bike, slipped his helmet on and started the engine.

Seconds later the tires squeeled and he barreled down the road.
