It was now the end of day two since she'd seen Harmony. Part of Kyndall still miserably believed this was an ill conceived prank on her daughter's behalf and not part of the mass disappearance of over fifty people splattered over ever news media source she could find. It was all her students talked about. Nearly everyone was affected in some way by this bizarre happening. She was so affected she'd called in sick and was now walking around the park at night in a bad neighborhood simply because she wasn't paying attention to where she was going and didn't much care right now what happened.

The police clearly weren't any help. They took pictures of Harm but with so many other disappearances to think about she knew their search effort would be scattered and minimal. They clearly didn't understand that was her baby out there lose somewhere. They didn't seem to care that that was the only family she had left anymore. It made Kyndall wonder if Harmony ran off or was taken in the end.

The night sky, at least, seemed to agree with her mood. It was overcast and the moon could only show through the gray in dull patches of sickly yellow light. The wind swept a chill over the park and made Kyndall wish she'd brought a thicker jacket rather than the simple cardigan she usually wore over her skirts. She pulled it tighter around her body but that still didn't block out the cold. Maybe it was the icy fear in her stomach that was really to blame and not the wind. Either way, she was lost solely in her own thoughts and didn't seem to notice much of anything else. Not how far she traveled, if she was alone, or any danger she might be in.

It was the talk of school, the people missing. It seemed that indeed many were affected. He wasn't affected in the same way as so many were. None were his friends nor people he had a blood relation to. In fact, he didn't know any of them, he didn't pay attention to the names of class mates. It only affected him because he knew it tied into the senshi and thus it affected him in a huge way. The senshi were a big part of his life, had been since this summer and he didn't know when they'd stop being a big part of his life.

The cops couldn't do anything with these missing people, even if they didn't sleep and worked round the clock constantly. He knew that, while class mates pondered mass kidnapping and all manner of other outrageous ideas. It was enough to cause him to roll his eyes in class. At least it was a conversation less boring than the usual ones he was subjected to in school. Something to be grateful for, though if the people didn't return soon the topic would soon bore him and annoy him.

Tonight he was out, in the park, gathering energy from those strolling around. The poor of the park were off limits, as they always would be. They remained safe, from him at any rate. He wasn't going to dictate to someone else who to gather energy from and who not to, it was their energy to gather so let someone else grab from where they pleased.

As he moved through the shadows, looking for someone else he spotted someone. He knew her...the teacher. She didn't seem her usual self, then again right now a lot of people in the city weren't themselves. It seemed with some people missing they were wondering if another rash of people would go missing. It was odd really, the feel in the air with people. Finally he stepped out of the shadows and moved across the grass toward her.

"Go missing something?" His coat, unlike her clothing, and his turtleneck did a nice job at keeping him warm, or over heating him on hot summer nights. So he didn't bundle up or draw his coat tightly about himself. It moved with a sway behind him as he approached slowly.

She was startled out of her thoughts by a voice coming in from behind her. She wasn't expecting anyone to address her and though she wasn't scared of confrontation, not really, she jumped and turned around to face whoever it is behind her. Someone she didn't seem to recognize. He appeared young, polished, and dressed better for the weather than she was. Though it was probably very shallow to do so she saw the nice coat and began to relax. Rich people didn't assault others in a park.

At least, she'd never heard of such a thing before. She wasn't exactly ill prepared for a fight, though, having taken martial arts routinely for ten years or more. She was more than a match for most things except a gun or the draining power of the Negaverse. She was beginning to suspect she wasn't quite clued in on the universe around her. Too many strange things happened for there not to be something at work behind them, pushing them along. She didn't know what it was but she was beginning to believe she needed to find out.

She had no reason, however, to suspect he was part of that collective something.

"Is it that obvious?" she asked with a sigh, laughing at herself for being so out in the open with her fears and worry. She didn't know him and had no reason to confide in him but there was something about him approaching her that made her pause. Having random strangers ask a question like that of someone obviously hurting was a rare thing in this day and age. The usual attitude was keeping your head down and paying attention to your own. Not him...

"My daughter. She's gone missing with the others in the city. You could very well say I lost her. Have you lost something. You look like you're a long way from home. And you're young. You shouldn't be out this far so late."

Right now she felt much older than her scant thirty four years should have made her.

((I'm assuming the Clark Kent clause is in effect and she doesn't recognize Alexandre))

Most rich people didn't, and really the uniforms picked the person. Status didn't matter, or at least this was what he suspected. No proof to the contrary but considering he had no choice in the uniform, he was sure it was quite random. His right arm was across his chest, his right hand holding onto his left arm lightly. To some it might appear that he was injured, but such wasn't the case, it was just a way of doing something with his arms.

"Perhaps, only because you don't fit in here and you seem rather...unfocused." To put it nicely. Really she seemed unaware of where she was or how dangerous this area could was, and in fact was.

Why was she hurting? What had happened that would bring the drama teacher here, of all places, and at such an hour? This wasn't to say it was overly late it was rather that this was not the sort of place to be once it got dark out, at least not in his opinion. The only exception was if you had a purpose to be here, and you were one of the dangerous kind who lurked about here. He wasn't as dangerous as some but able to drain energy would keep him safe here and he could remove a few people who could do to not be lurking about.

"Ahhh, I see. A victim of the terrorists." He spoke, casually. His fingers drumming on his left arm casually as he spoke. Finally reaching her he kept a short distance between them. He was short, only three inches over five foot, and slender. He was young and if he weren't who and what he was he shouldn't be here. But he did belong here, sort of.

"You didn't lose her, she was taken from you. It isn't your fault the terrorists got her. They are rather...good at what they do." He spoke, his words soft but the dislike for these terrorists wasn't hidden. So the senshi had taken Kyndall's daughter, he wished he could speak with her properly. She could use it he was sure but he was even more sure she could use information, and he couldn't give that as a civilian. Ignoring her concern over him being young and out this late, and here of all places, he hoped to keep the focus on the matter at hand - her missing daughter.

"Terrorists? What do you mean?"

There were things that might have been familiar to her had she looked or had eyes to recognize. His stature. His style. Those eyes. But she didn't see an inch of Alexandre in Beni. She just saw a boy out too late in a bad part of town. Well, that and her own pain. Which he seemed to be hitting on the head because she forgot all about telling him to go home and get away from this unsafe place. She knew karate and short of a gun or a Negaverse agent, which she was woefully ignorant of talking to, she felt secure walking most anywhere. She'd always been a fighter from childhood.

"Tell me what you're talking about. What terrorists? Why would they take my daughter?"

She was aching, desperate for some information that would lead to knowing where her daughter was or how she was doing. Any thread that might lead to Harmony would instantly enrapture her, real or not. She's sort through the information later to determine how valuable it was but the information was slow in coming. She'd been searching and hadn't found a clue, not an inkling from anyone about what happened to Harm and the other missing citizens of Destiny City. It was like they all just vanished leaving everything behind. If she were a more conspiracy bound woman and less logical she'd have thought to blame aliens.

Terrorists were a good second choice. Especially if what this boy said made any sense at all.

"How do you know this, anyway?" He hadn't answered her question about losing someone. Or something. If she knew better she might have tried to leave and put herself in more danger but, unfortunately, she couldn't recognize the poison she was being fed or the serpent feeding it to her. She just latched on to the first person that seemed to care and be in the know.

Maybe if Tony had been at the library she wouldn't be here now but he was conspicuously absent from his post for the last day or two.

"What do I mean? Do you not watch the news?" He questioned before giving a slight shake of his head. "Those silly girls in skirts, and the boys in shorts far too short to be considered appropriate." He stated, scowling at the images his mind showed him of senshi. The clothing most of them wore were in poor taste. While she didn't know who he was he knew full well who she was, and he didn't like seeing her in pain. Those senshi had hurt her, they had her daughter. He didn't like it at all, he had to repress the growl that he felt rising in his throat. Instead the hold his hand had on his arm tightened.

"As for why I cannot say, I can't speak of those who I'm nothing like." Thankfully, he wouldn't want to be anything like the senshi. For one thing the clothing was atrocious but the main reason was what they fought and why.

"Me? I'm on the inside...a vigilante if you will. I'm not the only one, not by a long shot." He stated calmly while glancing about. He didn't like the idea of dwelling in one place talking too long, not a civilian anyway, a silly senshi could come around and point fingers and make accusations that were as usual...empty.

"Those senshi aren't from here, or their souls aren't at least. Reborn souls, born here. They are terrorists." He spoke his voice full of serious conviction. He knew what those who wore frilly skirts and short shorts were.

"They like to cause problems and kidnapping people for some nefarious reason, or reasons, isn't above them. They are rather low to be quite honest. My side is...working on this situation that you can be sure of. Although it may not seem like anything is being done, something is....just behind the scenes.

Kyn hadn’t been watching the news lately. It seemed to bad enough in her life already without adding to it though she had heard about the mass disappearance of citizens in the city, obviously. One thing was sure: she was not alone in her grief. She’d heard of reports occasionally about these terrorists he was referring to by Tag something…she never put much stock in those reports before but she couldn’t deny that damage followed where they led. It had just never hit home before.

You? You’re working against them? You’re just a kid.

That wasn’t meant nearly as condescending as it might have sounded. She was actually concerned for him if these girls were as dangerous as he said they were. What made him qualified and why not her? She had a reason to fight, a will to do it. But she wasn’t. She wasn’t in the know and wouldn’t know where to begin. But everything he said she believed and was drinking it in. This whole situation had her so confused she didn’t know what to do with all the new information!

What is your side? How do I get ahold of you if I need you to help?” She paused, considered. “I don’t even know your name.

Well, she did but that was another thing altogether. She put her slim hands on her hips trying not to show how affected she was. It was in her eyes, though, and he looked strangely touched by it. As if he didn’t like seeing her upset. Considering they barely knew each other that was a strange thing to see. Maybe human compassion wasn’t dead after all. She didn’t know. She moved forward, touching his arm lightly. It felt nice to speak to someone that not only understood, but cared as well.

I just want her back. She’s my heart and soul. I just want her back.

Even before these disappearances there were the news reports of battles in the city streets, buildings taking damage and being destroyed. A lot had been happening in the city, for a while, he'd been watching these reports for as long as Tag Swagger had been giving them on the news. Now he was a part of it, as was the reporter himself.

"A child I may be but who says that age should determine what a person is capable or incapable of? It's simply a number." He spoke, trying to defend himself, even though he wasn't really being attacked. He felt the need to defend the fact he was a teenager involved in a dangerous thing.

"Someone needs to fight them, why not me? Why should I not fight for my freedom, and those who cannot fight? If I knowingly allowed someone else to fight for me, for my freedom, I don't think I'd be deserving of my freedom." Those who could fight and who knew of this battle going on should be fighting, and on the Negaverse's side. Those who knew of this battle and didn't get involved should hang their heads in shame and not have their freedoms. Maybe it was drastic and even extreme in thought. But if you could fight and knew what was going on you should fight, you should want to!

"My side...I'm not going to give a name to it but you can call me Benitoite." He spoke tilting his head just a bit. "There really isn't any way for you to contact me, we can only contact each other." They weren't some sort of 911 system or anything like that, they didn't do like the police and come when and where someone wanted them.

Watching her step closer he nodded his head to her words. His own hand coming up to cover hers gently. "I know, we will work on bringing the people back. We are working on it." Speaking lightly to her. He didn't want to give promises, no telling what the senshi were doing, he wasn't going to give her hope so someone else could crush it.

"Of course you do, she's family."

Kyndall remembered the "attack" that destroyed the school. It had been huge news at the time though the official cause of its destruction was never really agreed upon by the press or by the city. All Kyndall knew was that it killed a number of people and the building was still sitting in ruins on the other side of town. At the time her heart went out to the families of the victims. Now, thinking about what he was saying and that attack her heart burned with a sort of righteous anger she occasionally felt but never really had a chance to act on. Something inside of her heart always told her to fight. It was only her brain that kept her in line. She supposed that was why she took up the martial arts classes in the end, and not to keep herself in shape.

"Just because you can and you're willing doesn't mean you should be fighting the war. Adults like me should be fighting it...people who know what we're giving up and people that can make the choice having lived live for a while first."

She didn't imagine, as a teen, that he was used to the idea of killing or dying. Even she in her slightly older phase of life wasn't comfortable with either concept. Maybe this wasn't her war and yet, deep down, she wanted it to be. Though he made it sound like his side of it was some underground resistance maybe they were doing some good. Just as long as they didn't start shouting "Vive la France" they'd be fine. It was a fine attitude to have. This niche needs to be filled. Why not me? Kinda made her wish more people had such an active stance on wrong doing in the city.

"Benitoite? That's an odd name. Does it run in your family?"

Oddly, it reminded her of what little she knew about geology or the like. Something about minerals and fossils came to mind but she couldn't place a specific. That wasn't her subject in school. She was too busy trying to get on stage every chance she could get or studying the plays of Shakespeare. She hadn't had time to really delve into the sciences or into math. Neither of which really interested her. Who was she to question who was willing to help be it a boy that couldn't be more than nineteen or a ninety year old citizen?

"Thank you for what you're doing. I hope you're successful. If I can help...please. I'm willing."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 05, 2011 8:18 pm

"I'm well aware of what I have and will give up." At least as aware as any person who'd never fought in a war could be. He knew there were rose tinted glasses still shielding his eyes from some things, he simply couldn't rip them off all on his own. It wasn't like he could happen upon a body at any time he wished and take those glasses off and realize death in all it's glory, or lack of.

"If you can fight and you know what's happening you should, adult or youth. Just...not too young. Those senshi....children...they have children fighting for them, younger than myself by at least five years." He spoke, disgust clear in his voice. How cruel was it to face a war as a child, not even a teenager.

"No, it's the name I go by...we all have the name of a mineral." He spoke, one hand raising to settle over his chest as he spoke. The name meant and held something to it. It was a name he didn't pick but was his, a name he had come to like - love even. He'd looked up names and realized they all had mineral names, at least everyone he'd met. "Benitoite is a blue stone."

"I will, for now though you should think of your daughter and await her return. I hope we can return her to you, safely." He spoke honestly, sincerely. He was one who didn't kill - couldn't. He simply couldn't find it within himself to do, he wasn't as tainted as some. "Just do not trust the senshi, they are the enemy."

Remarkable child. Very mature.

She somehow felt soothed by his promises. Even if they weren't true or he couldn't follow through with them he'd committed to trying. She wished his club wasn't exclusive so she felt like she had a more active role in helping her daughter. Sitting idle on her hands now that it was confirmed that she was one of the ones taken just seemed cruel. It twisted at her heart not to be there with her, soothing her.

When he explained about his name she nodded. "I'd traced it back to geology but I'm afraid that's as far as my recognition went. I was never much for the sciences."

It's true. In high school she went as high as chemistry and decided that was enough for her. Same thing with Algebra 2. There was no way she was going to delve into calculus. Some things were just beyond where she wanted to reach...you know, even after she dropped out. At least she finished and got a degree out of it. But with his last words she nodded solemnly.

"I won't. How can I?" She shivered again and glanced at her watch. "I should get home. You should, too."

Old habits. They die hard.

"Nor am I one for the sciences. I had to look up the mineral whose name I bare." He spoke honestly, a small smile given to her. Perhaps she was the sort to want to join, and she likely was. She was a mother with a missing daughter, due to those skirted abominations. But he wasn't the one to bring her in, he didn't hold that power within himself and he knew it.

"I have duties, I'm more than a teenager. I've joined a battle, it comes with duties." Smiling a bit more as he raised a hand to place it on her shoulder. "You however have a duty to relax. It wouldn't do for you to become a nervous wreck and stress yourself into a hospital. Your daughter wouldn't like that, when she returns. If you think of us in the mean time, and wish to join. You'd have to seek out a member far more powerful than I am. I cannot say where to meet such a member, we are everywhere."
