Okay, this was going to be easy. She could do this. Just knock on his door, ask him some questions, and then leave. What was so difficult about that?
There were a million difficult things about that. First off, she barely knew Ren. She liked him a lot. After all, he was a pretty bird lion thingy, and Danny loved anything she could pet. She knew that much concretely. Anything past that drew a complete blank. If she was being completely honest, she didn't even know his last name.
Second were the questions themselves. Danny didn't even understand the third one, so how was she supposed to interview him? She couldn't just go "what does this question mean?" That would make her look silly! Ren was nice, but Danny didn't think he would be able to resist making fun of her for that.
Finally, she didn't want to fight Ren. Amrita had said she was supposed to obtain one of these "information blurbs" from Ren. That meant she had to somehow grab it from him right? Somehow these blurbs seemed rather valuable too, so Danny assumed that Ren would put up a fight whilst protecting it.
All in all, this was going to be very difficult. She knocked on his dorm door anyways.

"No, I don't want to talk, as a matter of fact."
"Renaissance - "
Click.
The phone - newly reinstated (since he'd shattered the last one by throwing it at the wall of his dorm) - snapped shut, the line going dead. Ren eyed it for a moment, debating whether or not it should have the same fate as its predecessor. But he gave a sigh, remembering that it wasn't the phone's fault (plus LW would kill him for breaking another), and tossed it onto his desk.
Each day another phone call, each day another hangup. Ren wondered when his parents would finally get tired of his behavior and actually stop their pestering, but they had been calling every day for the past two weeks straight.
It was annoying.
Sitting in his office chair, feet propped up on the desk in front of him with a pair of reading glasses perched on the end of his nose, Ren absently stroked Phantomhive, curled in his lap. The scareon made a thrumming noise, then lifted its head.
There was a knock at the door. Ren tilted his head back over the chair to see who it was without bothering to stand up.
"Ah, Danny," he said with a smile, grateful for the interruption as he dragged his feet down, swiveling around to look at her. "This is a surprise. What brings you here to my humble abode?"

Danny peered into Ren's room, examining her surroundings. There was some weird stuff in here. She'd have to be careful not light anything on fire. Especially that plant ... and the bear thing! And the pillow pile. Were those foxfi-
"No, I don't want to talk, as a matter of fact."
Oh. Well Ren didn't want to talk, okay. Danny flipped herself back around and pretended she had stayed knocking at the door the entire time. She wasn't going to get caught, right?
As he invited her in, Danny waltzed in like absolutely nothing had happened, which made her look all the more suspicious. Even worse, she gave away her position when she said, "Uhm, well you don't want to talk, so I guess I'll just come back later okay bye Ren bye!" She pivoted herself around and starting heading back out the door.

Slightly confused by the rapid turnabout, Ren was attempting to figure out just what Danny was talking about (and what exactly she was doing, for that matter) until he glanced to his left and saw the skellyphone sitting on his desktop.
"Oh," he said with a laugh. "I'm sorry, I wasn't talking to you at the time. I was talking to, er...never mind about that, anyway - "
Standing up, Ren stepped towards the door, Phantomhive leaping nimbly from his lap to land gracefully on the bed, where he curled up and put his head on his paws. The dozen or so foxfires that had been taking up most of the space on the covers now peered sleepily up at the newcomer, ruffling flufflily where they lay.
"Come in, come in," said Ren jovially, sweeping an arm out to Danny and offering her his chair while he perched on the corner of the bed - the only open spot. "What are you doing here? Did you need something?"

If it was possible, Danny was even more confused with Ren's explanation. Things were just getting more complicated. So did this mean he was talking to himself? And why was his bed moving, no wait those were the foxfires and now there was a mini hopping and OH JACK.
Danny took a few deep breaths and then sat down on the chair he offered. She held her tail in her hands awkwardly, not really sure where to put it. If she put it down it could swing around at any moment and light something on fire. In fact, Danny wanted nothing more than to dive into the pile of foxfires, but that just wasn't an option at the moment. She would light them all on fire.
Why was she here, why was she here ....
...
OH RIGHT. Danny pulled out her instructions and a blank pad of paper. "Um. I have some questions to ask you for yearbook!," she said, a tad timidly. She didn't really know how this interview thing worked at all, and it showed.

Clearly he was confusing the Jack out of Danny, since she was looking at him with a completely flummoxed expression on her tanned face. Ren cringed internally, scooping up a few more stray foxfires and dumping them rather unceremoniously onto the bed, where they scurried around excitedly as he sat down. Cookie leapt into his lap, Ren's fingers automatically moving to scratch the little spotted poof on its head as he looked curiously over to the fire demon.
"Oh?" he replied, eyebrows drawing together in a slightly bemused expression. He had not heard that the yearbook was doing their rounds just yet, but if Danny were here to interview him already...
"Yes, of course," said Ren, smiling brightly at the ghoul. "Fire away.

Danny's lips curled into a smile. Fire? She liked fire.
Dropping the pen and paper, her hands lit up with a fireball gripped in each palm. Danny would've just launched them into the room, except she was confused. Ren had said fire away. Did that mean he wanted her to put her flame out or ...
A stirring caught her attention. To her right a pile of foxfires were doing their foxfire-y thing. Just being cute and adorable. Danny bit her lip. If she threw them, they'd all light on fire. Her mind flashed back to when she was little and lit a foxfire on fire by accident. All the yipping and squealing. It was horrible. She'd vowed to never touch one ever again ever.
Looking back at Ren, she innocently said, "Uh. Now what?" She really didn't want to throw the fire, but if that's what he wanted...
