It was safe to say that Astra was a fan of shiny things, and she liked acquiring them as well. Most of the time she would do it the right way, by hard work or perhaps alot of luck, and while she loved the thrill of stealing something, she found she did this very rarely since...well, it just wasn't worth it.
However, lately she had found herself with a distinct lack of shiny items, especially pumpkin seeds. This was partly due to her having used most of them buying things, and even giving some of them away. Why would she give her pumpkin seeds away? Because...some students were just jerks.
At any rate, The fairy had found herself one day with only a few left, and she was trying to think of how she could make them last until recieved some more from her parents.

Somewhere else, Vieve was counting. Counting the pretties. The shinies. The little pile of treasures on her desk was growing- coins, pumpkin seeds, and the necklace Night had bought her for prom.
But this was nowhere enough. In fact, her minipets seemed to be doing better than her, bringing back silver coins from beyond the closet.. such an embarrassment. But Vieve knew treasures weren't meant to be easily obtainable, which was why they were all the more treasured- still, she did wish she had more to add to her collection.
Perhaps it was time to hunt. There had to be something around school somewhere...

Desperate times called for desperate measures.
It was time to search the ground for scattered pumpkin seeds.
It was a rare occurrence to find them just lying around. But she knew that sometimes, other students dropped them by accident and the gnomes didn't always pick them up. And depending on were she was looking there might be plenty to find.
Well, chances are she wouldn't find any, but she was still hopeful.
"Maybe if I check the cafeteria for some.." Astra mused out loud while she walked down the hallway, eyes scanning the lockers for any lose change.

Heading towards the cafeteria, Vieve kept an eye out for anything shiny. Sometimes you'd see items dropped by other students- if they were on the floor, they were fair game. It was your own responsibility to take care of your belongings- and if you didn't, someone else would.
And then, as if on cue, she spotted something lying under a table: a silver pumpkin seed.
Vieve made her move.

As she searched around the tables in the cafeteria area, something shiny caught her eye, and looking under the table she realized that it was a silver pumpkin seed
...a silver pumpkin seed
...just lying about
FINDERS KEEPERS!
She ducked under the table and made a grab for the seed, but found herself bumping into someone else instead.
"UGH!" she fell backwards, rubbing the spot where her head had collided.

There was a collision- and then sort of squeaky sound. Something had crashed into her right as she was about to grab the silver pumpkin seed, and out of the corner of her eye, Vieve could see something vaguely black and blue moving.
The creature hat hit her straight in the face, hard enough for her to taste a little bit of blood in her mouth- somehow, she'd managed to cut or bite her lip. The seed, though, wasn't where it had been. Panicking, Vieve looked around... where.. was it?!

Still rubbing her sore head,Astra checked her other hand and was happy to see she had retrieved the silver seed. Huzzah!
However, she wasn't too thrilled about it just yet. What she was more concerned about was whom she had bumped into. Looking up, she noticed a frantic looking Ghoul looking for something. Chances were, it was the silver seed she just grabbed.
Ohh....she was really happy she got that seed too. But just looking at the other ghoul made her sure that she was the original owner of the seed. And while stealing was a fun pastime, she didn't make a habit of stealing from others she didn't know.
"Umm..." Astra held up the seed towards the other ghoul. "Excuse me, but is this yours?"

"Oh! You found it!"
Turning to Astra, Vieve accepted the seed, beaming. "I'm so glad you returned it, this is all I have left for the rest of this week! I wouldn't know what to do if it'd been stolen, or something..."
The irony. The delicious, delicious irony.
"I'm Vieve," the salamander smiled, introducing herself. "Nice to meet you?"

Astra may have made the other ghoul extremely happy, but she still felt a little sad that she had to give away such a awesome item. Oh well..Least she seemed nice.
"Hi Vieve" She said, returning the smile. "I'm Astra. Nice to meet you too" Antenna twitching with interest as she looked over Vieve. She hadn't seen the other student before, so perhaps she was new? "Did you just enroll at the school?" She asked politely.

The salamander looked at Astra appraisingly- the fae was shorter than her (a rare sight!!), but also decidedly pretty, especially her shiny butterfly-like wings. The antenna, admittedly, were a little strange, but at least she didn't seem like she had anything to do with water, even if she was mostly dressed in blue.
No water was good.
"I.. I guess I'm fairly new to the academy," Vieve answered, keeping up the shy, innocent act as she surreptitiously pocketed the seed. "And you?"

"I've been here for a while" Astra replied, trying to remember exactly when she had enrolled. "I had just got here when the school had it's first field trip to Christmas town."
Wow...she HAD been here for a long time. Had it already been a year? On that note...would they get to go back to Christmas town again?
"So! Have you thought about going to any classes yet?" Astra asked the ghoul. Since she didn't know much about Vieve, it would be a good opportunity to find out what she could about her.

"Classes? Not yet!" She didn't think there had been classes she was interested in, so far, and so she hadn't signed up for any of them. "Do you know any good ones? I'm still looking for something cool to take."
The two of them were still kneeling on the floor, and Vieve shifted somewhat uncomfortably, then decided to stand up and sit at the table nearby, instead.
"And whoa, that's a long time... so the first field trip was to Christmas town? How did that go? Do you know Jericho, then? I.. think he mentioned field trips to me as well..."

Astra hummed to herself, thinking about which classes she believed would be considered as 'good ones', following Vieve to a new table as she did so. "Well, I think the botany classes are the best, cause Professor Cadmus is a really good teacher. And minipet training is a pretty good class too. Professor malcom teaches us a lot about how to take care of our minipets...."
She trailed off when Vieve mentioned Jericho, a expression of distaste clear on her face. "Jericho is a stupid jerk!" She folded her arms and looked the other way in a huff. "He's also a big meanie. I don't like him one bit!"

Cadmus and Malcolm? She hadn't heard of either of them before, but the salamander was making mental notes. Better to sign up for classes you could ace- and those were usually the ones with nice teachers, weren't they?
She didn't have an interest in botany, though, past learning about which plants were more flammable than others. Plants? Pffft. Minipets, on the other hand, sounded like it could come in useful.
"Thanks for the tips, Astra!" Intending to ask more about the school and where she could possibly find treasure, Vieve looked up at the older girl, only to see the disgust on her face.
"Is he that bad?" She was, honestly, slightly curious. "What's he done to you?"
Possible blackmail material...?

There were plenty of reasons why she shouldn't be talking about another student behind their backs, especially one such as Jericho. However, Astra wasn't thinking about the possible consequences that could arise. Nor would she care, until they came to bite her later on.
"Well, he got mad at me for beating him in a game" She said, using the most recent memory she could think of. "And he growled at me and stormed off. And I bet if he gets really mad, he'll turned into a stupid big dragon and turn me to fairy dust!" She looked slightly afraid as she said this, making it obvious that she was still intimidated by the other student. "And he calls me stupid names too."
