Recently, Kail had discovered that not too far from his house, there was a park.
Normally, this wouldn't be very exciting.
Except...it was a dog park.

Contrary to most of his interests, Kail loved dogs. Growing up as he did, there was always lots of them about - hunting dogs, guard dogs, accessory dogs. He liked the guard dogs best. Big Alsatians, who's coats were long and silky, and who he could sit and brush for ages. They were pretty friendly too, if you knew how to handle them - which he did, having been given very strict instructions...repeatedly. So, Kail sat on a bench - dogwatching. Almost like people-watching....but with dogs. He eyed up dogs, judging breed, temperament, training....and how soft their coats would be to touch, judging of course after they had been bathed and brushed (because muddy coats weren't very soft, though they were fun for the dog.)

A small smile crept on his face whilst he watched the dogs, happy to sit.

Life with Dogby had been quite an interesting adventure. After a couple of misadventures with the corgi chewing on some things which weren't meant to be chewed on, Yvette and family had finally finished Dogby-proofing the house. Daddy was still reluctantly taking care of the dog during the day while she was at work, and every day when she got back, Daddy would promptly complain about every little thing Dogby had made him do. The girl would simply nod her head, letting the man complain for the millionth time about how he had to clean up Dogby poop. After seeing Daddy off to work in the early afternoon, she'd then get Dogby ready for a walk.

It was a pretty lengthy walk in all honesty for her and the Corgi, but eventually the two made it to their halfway point, which happened to be the dog park. The moment they were within smelling range of all of the other dogs, Dogby began to pull on her leash as fiercely as her little Corgi legs could manage. If it weren't for the fact that she was a smaller dog, the small girl would have probably been pulled along quite easily.

"D-dogby... n-no!" she whimpered a bit before reaching down and picking up the animal.

Of course, Dogby wasn't about to cooperate when there were other dog rumps to be sniffing. Even as Yvette held the Corgi in baby-fashion, Dogby still wriggled about in an effort to get herself free so she could go do some investigating.

"They'll eat you up like a cookie!" she uttered as they passed some pink haired boy as she glanced at some of the bigger dogs.

Kail's eyes were drawn to the small girl. Mainly because of the struggling, wriggling dog who who was yapping excitedly and was adorable, but secondly because she looked a little stressed. Deciding he'd be helpful, he tucked his book (open on his lap even if he wasn't reading it) into his bag, then walked up to her, head shorter than hers by about an inch, looked firmly into the dog's eyes, focusing on what he wanted to achieve. He didn't bother to introduce hmself (he didn't see the need), simply decided to help, and then did it.

"Bad dog."

His tone wasn't particularly loud, but it was very sharp, very dissapointed. Combined with his large eyes focusing on the dog, it was a direct route to the part of the dog's brain that said: oh no! It had worked very well with most dogs he had ever encountered, even big, agressive ones. If Dogby did calm down, he would smile, eyes crinkling lightly at the corner, and stroke his ears softly, replacing his previously harsh tone with soft murmurings of praise. If it didn't work, he'd frown lightly and shift awkwardly on his feet.

"C-calm down Dogby!" Of course, the Corgi did not understand the words coming out of her mouth, so the animal continued to squirm.

It was about then that a boy about her size stepped forward. She had never met him before, nor had she seen him at this dog park before. It wasn't like she frequented the dog park, seeing as she was just dog-sitting for Mr. Darrow. However, Yvette had always been good at remembering faces. Maybe this boy knew of Dogby? It was with this thought in mind that she kept her little mouth shut as he drew closer.

And called Dogby a bad dog.

The corgi was definitely familiar with the tone and momentarily seemed to wince at the sharp tone. However, that didn't last very long as she came upon the realization that this was a new person. Dogby's eyes grew wide as her nose began to seemingly go into overdrive as she gathered the scent of this new person. It took maybe five seconds for the dog to start squirming again, though this time for a completely different reason. Now she wanted to investigate this new person.

As much as Yvette wanted to point out that she didn't think that Dogby deserved the accusation of being bad, she kept such stifled to only her thoughts. Instead, she simply uttered in a quiet voice "Uh... I'm sorry... but... um... I think she wants to say hi to you..."

Kail had smiled when she calmed down...and then winced as she started squirming. Ah. he should have expected that - he was new. When the girl spoke he flinched, as if not expecting her to acknowledge him - which...in truth, he would have preferred her not to. He nodded, a tiny, almost birdlike movement, and gestured towards Dogby with a hand out to allow her to sniff it.

"May I? I was trying to help but I didn't fully process the logic of a new person attempting it."

His manner was awkward - stiff, strangely formal, but the expression of honest longing on his face as he looked at the dog was obvious enough. He smiled at the excitable dog, then returned his gaze to the purple-haired girl, smiling somewhat more awkwardly.

"Sorry If I caused you any disturbance."

"It's okay! I... I'm sure that Mr. Darrow won't mind... Dogby gets to meet all sorts of people usually..." Yvette did still find it odd that Mr. Darrow let the dog come to the library as often as he did, but it was a bit endearing to her. Plus, it allowed her Dogby time she usually wasn't able to have.

Awkward mannerisms seemed to go unnoticed, for who was Yvette to judge on this sort of stuff. Heck, her eyes hadn't even glanced up long enough to look the boy in the eyes. In fact, her eyes were still on the wriggling Corgi in her arms. She attempted to shift her arms slightly so the dog would still remain in her arms baby-style, but it was proving to be quite a tricky task.

It was about this time the boy apologized to her.

"Ohno,youdon'tneedtobesorry...notabotheratall!" Her face already turned quite red as she blurted such out.

Kail hummed lightly, stroking Dogby's head, a silly smile stretched across his face. As the Corgi squirmed and wriggled, he tucked an arm under her - therefore intertwining it with Yvette's. He seemed entirely nocholant about this as he continued to tickle the Corgi with his other hand, chuckling (okay, it was more of a giggle, but spare his pride a little?) as she licked his face. He bumped noses with the dog softly, smiling at Yvette also. So she was a little shy? That was GOOD. Well....maybe not good. She probably didn't have many friends. But it meant she wasn't saying anything about his weird so that was good. Good!

He laughed louder now as the Corgi licked his nose, and eyes sparkling, spoke to Yvette.

"My name is Kail, for your information. What do you call yourself? And what's your dog called?"

PostPosted: Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:22 pm

The girl nearly dropped the corgi when the boy suddenly managed to get his arm as close as he did to hers. The animal let out a small yip, but seemed absolutely fine when she found she did not drop suddenly to the ground.

In a manner nearly mimicking the dog's high pitched yip, the girl let out a simple "Oh, sorry!" Her voice seemed out of place amidst all of the laughter and happy noises, but nobody could ever say that Yvette was good at fitting into a situation. Blending into the background was not quite the same thing as fitting in.

Eventually, she relinquished her hold completely in a manner that let the boy still hold onto the dog while getting licked like crazy. Her little hand still held onto the end of the leash as she watched.

"Um... my name is Yvette... a-and the dog's name is Dogby... but she isn't mine... I'm dog-sitting for a family friend."

Kail would be quiiiiite happy to sit there and be licked all day, but Dogby was wriggling more now, and perhaps she would be happier on the ground - plus um. The girl had pulled back and maybe he was scaring her, and that was kind of upsetting because he didn't MEAN to scare people he was just um. He didn't anyway and he wasn't scary, honest. He knelt down, letting Dogby free then stood up, tugging at his sleeve.

"Yvette is a n-n-nice name."

PostPosted: Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:38 am

The girl watched as he set the dog down, and soon enough was catching the drift as to why he was putting Dogby down. In a flustered voice, she said as one really big, long, fast word "Y-youcankeepplayingwithher,Idon'tmindifyouareholdingher,shelikesbeingheld..."

Yvette was less than convincing.

It also wasn't the first time she had someone complimenting her name, as if she had any say as to what it was to begin with. Her response would always be the same about it. "...Mommy is the one who picked it..." If Daddy had his way, he probably would have given her the name Pumpkin or something adorable and almost nickname-ish in a sense.

Awkwardly, she attempted to return the compliment back. "K-kail is a nice name too..."

Kail blinked. She went the other way. When he was nervous he didn't speak at all, but it looked like she sped up her words. Huh. Kinda interesting. Yup. Look at it in a clinical and logical way and then the panic won't squish your chest and make you do illogical things like run for it or stand still and not speak and just tap things on your leg or-slow your thoughts. Slow. Listen to what she says and reply in a normal way.

Eventually he managed to croak out what was probably some kind of reply.

"I don't know who picked it."

Nope. Probably his dad though. Sounded more inkeeping with Alano Perez than Emilia Cubrin. Maybe not though. Who knew. Really. He fidgeted. Maybe he should uh. Go. Yes. Maybe. He just had to pluck up the courage to say it.

Ah yes, conversational awkwardness. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

As the two stood there trying to figure out what to say, the Corgi decided that she'd make sure that Kail didn't forget who she was. She trotted up and jumped up slightly so her paws would catch on the boy's shins, holding herself up and panting as her tongue stuck out towards the side of her mouth.

Yvette did notice such, and eventually offered a gentle "...I think she still wants to be pet some more..." Then again, even the shy girl knew that the dog would want to be pet forever and ever and ever if she could.

Kail lit up again as the Corgi approached, crouching down, then deciding that ehh, clean trousers were for losers, and sat down on the floor. He'd have big mudstains when he got up....but for now it was totally worth it to have a squiggly ball of licking adorable fluff in his face. He grinned up at Yvette whilst giving Dogby enthusiastic ear-scritchies and back rubs. He loved dogs. Lovelovelove.

"Thankyou!"

How could he be okay with muddy pants? HOW?! Yvette stood there for a moment, just watching stupidly as the boy continued to spoil the corgi. She made a vast amount of her own clothing, so seeing someone get their clothing messy for no real reason somewhat made her twitch in an agitated manner.

"Ummm..."

She wanted to point out the obvious about his pants, but he probably wouldn't listen to her. In all honesty, there was nothing she could do anyways. It wasn't like she had a portable washer-dryer combo to bring around with her on the road. So instead, she swallowed down her gut reaction and lamely added "...i-it's no problem..."
