The weather was starting to become much more mild as the end of summer was quickly approaching, the days felt nice, and the evenings felt cool.
Not so much though that one had to give up summer clothing and sandals, but enough to start having to think about pulling the warmer clothes from storage, or shopping for the newer fashions for the season.
Normally, Rosie would be taking this opportunity up to start looking into a few new items to add to her wardrobe. But recently she had had other things on her mind, and when she went shopping, it was for supplies that she would need for a large training trip she was going to be taking with a group of friends.
The only clothes she really got to pick out a was a new set of durable trainers outfits, to replace the style she had been using for the last couple of years.
She had costumed ordered, and fitted it a few weeks ago, and had them sitting folded neatly in boxes, that sat next to her.
The young trainer had been on her way home, but upon passing one of the parks, had decided to stop, and take a break.
Let the pokemon that had come with her enjoy the outside for a little bit, they had been so good on her shopping trip, they deserved it.
Sitting with her knees pulled in close, leaning herself forward onto her legs as she let a hand drape down to play with the fountain water. her feet just on the edge of the lip that she was sitting on.
Boxes sitting next to her, the blond seemed a little lost in thought while a soft song drifted from her lips, only half watching her little brown and pink Togepi timidly playing with the water as well. Rosie holding her hand out to the egg pokemon as she played.

Though Rosie's pokemon had done so, not every shopper's companions behaved themselves during their trainer's excursion. A budding confidence born from kind words, assured safety, and steadily increasing experience in battle had led Liselle away from her human's side, drawn by the sound of water. As the small Vaporeon approached the fountain, the sound of water became accompaniment to the sound of song, and olive eyes strayed toward the girl producing the melody. A finned tail, pale in comparison to those of others of her species and accented with pink and white, waved back and forth in a subtle curiosity. Caution prevailed in the water-type, however, and Liselle flanked the fountain, rounding slowly until she was able to stare up at the bright-eyed girl seated there.

Her song continued, unaware for the moment of anything going on outside of her tune, and her playing Togepi.
"Toge Toge! Preeee~" Valani squeed happily, feet kicking behind her as she laid on her belly, little nubbin of arms waving back and forth while the water splashed around them, or reaching out to grab at Rosie's fingers as they weaved into her way.
Rosie smiled softly around her singing as she watched the young Togepi, so happy to see the usually very timid and frightened pokemon being playful and joyous. It didn't get to happen very often with Valani.
Her quiet distraction was pulled away however, when a pare of missy eyes floated into Rosie's vision, snapping the girl out of her thoughts, chin pulling up off of her knees quickly.
They have a familiar shape to them, along with the form that they were owned by.
Taken by surprise by the appearance, and before she could gather her logic, her heart pounded painfully in her chest a couple of times, and her breath caught in her lungs.
After a couple of seconds though, blue eyes blinking, Rosie found herself staring at... a Vaporeon, not hers, not Vany'n.
a moment of disapointment washed over her, but with a slight tilt of her head, she let it pass, and regarded the Vaporeon that was infront of her with a soft, pleasently surprised smile.
This one was certainly beautiful, designer breed, and a good one to!
"Oh... well hello beautiful," Rosie said, reaching a hand out in greeting to the Vaporeon.

The playful cries of the Togepi were reassuring to Liselle, and she relaxed in the shadow's fountain, content to enjoy the sounds around her without being noticed. It was a different world from the one she was used to, but it wasn't as terrifying as she might have expected.
The Vaporeon's body tensed when she realized she had been spotted, and she lowered her head slightly in wary submission. Her formerly waving tail became almost deathly still as she awaited the girl's reaction. A few moments passed in hesitant silence, and Liselle's large fins flicked in response to the smile that formed on her company's face. She recognized it as a friendly gesture that humans often made when they were being nice to one another.
The suddenly reaching hand, however, startled the Vaporeon, and the little blue creature recoiled away, fins flattening against her crouching body in an instinctive effort to make herself appear even smaller than she already was, as if to disappear altogether. Were she more aware of herself, she might have felt some shame that she still behaved so fearfully towards strangers.

"Oh-" It seemed that gesture had made the Vaporeon uncomfortable, reolizing this when the pokemon shrank away, frightened.
Rosie blinked a couple of times, before pulling her hand back and wrapping it around her legs.
"Its okay, I'm not going to hurt you." she continued, reassuringly "I'm sorry if I scared you."
Her Togepi, having finally noticed that there was another pokemon around, was reacting in a similar way to the Vaporeon.
The little Egg pokemon got a concerned look on her face, rolling herself onto her feet and hurrying over closer to Rosie, where she cling to her trainers shirt.
Who was this strange pokemon? Valani didn't know her.
This drew a more sad smile from Rosie as she looked down at her Pokemon, She wished she didn't have to be so scared of everyone.
"My name is Rosie, and this here is Valani." She told the Vaporeon. "Are you lost? Where is your trainer?"

The Vaporeon relaxed slightly - only very slightly - when the hand was withdrawn. The girl didn't seem like a bad person, and the Togepi looked just as timid as Liselle, but one could never be too careful.
She listened to the names and cooed quietly in reply, as if returning the greeting. The word 'trainer' brought her to raise her head, spreading her fins in a sudden alertness. She glanced around her person, turning in a brief, searching circle, and her fins compressed against her body once more, despondent. Was she lost? That was never a good thing to be. She certainly hoped she wasn't lost...

Chin lowered back onto her knees while the Vaporeon offered a shy greeting in return, her smile not once faltering, being as warm and genuine toward the Vaporeon as was comfortable to the Pokemon.
She wondered what the Vaporeon had said, It always made Rosie wish she could understand them, and talk to them.
She did notice however, that the longer you spend with a Pokemon, and the more you get to know them, the easier it is to really understand what they are telling you, without having to talk.
"I bet your name is as pretty as you are."
The Vaporeon's reaction to being asked if she was lost, made the trainer think that she might have just realized this herself.
"Oh..." Rosie sat back up, putting her hands down on the fountain ledge next to her.
"Well, its okay, its not a very big park, I'm sure your trainer is here close by." Rosie waved a hand still smiling. "So don't worry."
Valani peered from around Rosie's thigh toward the Vaporeon again, looking tearful.
