 Enthallion stood and nibbled on his daughters hair. He and Tashi couldn't have found a more perfect foal if they had tried. "You my heart, are so sweet and beautiful and caring and lovely that I'm gonna have to beat the young stallions off with a big stick, you know when I am not beating them off your mother." He exhaled and poofed up her mane with his breathe. Oh, wait till your mother sees your hair," he snickered.

 "What did you do to my hair daddy?" Schuyler asked sweetly as she twisted her head to try to see what he had done. "And you don't have to worry about boys daddy, boys are icky. Why would you have to beat them off mommy?" She asked innocently. Tashi found their tree again after going to get a snack. "I brought back apples for us!" She said excited. Then she noticed her daughters mane, "What did you do to your hair Schuyler?" She asked in disbelief. It was such a mess, uneven everywhere, like someone had nibbled at it. "Thali, what did you do to her mane?" She asked sweetly.

"I ruffled it." he said innocently. "I have to beat the other horses off your mother because she is so pretty, just like you and they all want to be friends with her." He snorted at her "Boys are icky comment." He hoped that lasted a long time.
"Ooh apples Schuy! ME first me first, he made like he was running real fast but was actually loping very slowly so Schuy could beat him there if she wanted.
"Oh um her mane, the wind came up in a big gust and disorganized it, such a tragedy, I was uh fixing it when you got here." He tried to hide his smile, it didn't work. "Wasn't I, Princess?"

When Schuyler saw her mother with apples and her father racing towards her, she quickly got up and ran as fast as she could to her mother. "No me first!!" She yelled at her father as she ran.
"Oh you two, there is plenty for everyone." Tashi said with a laugh. "A wind, Thali?" She said, only making her laugh more. "I'll fix it for you sweetheart, so you don't have to worry about daddy messing it up anymore." She joked.
"Its ok mommy." Schuyler said, before grabbing an apple. She tried to reply to her father but her mouth was too full from the apple.

"Like I said, it was a wind!" he grinned at Tao over Schuy's head as she stuffed her tiny face with apples. "You fast little turd! You beat me your own father. How could you?" he asked laughing. He munched an apple. "Oh hey, Love, these are really sweet, did you guard the tree until they ripened?"
He leaned over and poofed up Schuy's mane again. He loved doing that, he couldn't wait until it got longer so he could make a real mess of it.

"Well I am your daughter." Schuyler said, laughing. She knew he wasn't her real father, but he was the only one she had ever known. "Mommy said you're really fast, that you can beat everyone." She bragged.
"No, I didn't, silly. I just know the good places to go." Tashi said smiling. She flicked her tail at her mate. "Leave her mane alone or it will never grow!" She scolded.

"Apparently even the fastest of horses can't beat you my princess." he mushed at her.
"Of course it will grow! Its MY daughters mane it will grow long and beautiful and lure the boys in like the prairie grass. Too bad for them they can't have her. Besides boys are icky, right Schuy?"

"I'll be even faster when I'm older Daddy! We'll have to race then!" Schuyler said competitively.
"It won't grow if you keep nibbling at it, love. And you're right. Those boys can't have her. Only the best for my daughter, when she's older of course." Tashi said proudly.
"Boys are icky..." Sky mumbled between bites.

" Of course they are sweetling." Thali said.
To her mother he said," But I love playing with her mane, its so cute and fuzzy, I can't resist." He grinned, "And soft too."
"Yes we will have to be very careful with the stallions we allow round the herd when she is older. If they are not perfect for her I will run them right off the continent, or until I know they will never come back." he snorted decisively.
"Now munchkin, eat your apples and I'll race you back to the tree."

"Agreed." Tashi said. She wasn't about to let anything happen to this little foal who was under her care. "Maybe we should just get her 'Grandma' to help with that..." She whispered to Thali, speaking about Voreti. Voreti was the queen of running azreins off, she remembered in a bitter memory.
Schuyler gobbled down a few more apples and felt her stomach grumble in happiness. "Ok daddy, I'm done!!" She said happily

"I wouldn't let that awful mare near our foal. You remember what she did to you? Your heart? Stomped all over it she did and I would not wish that on anyone." Thali whispered to her.
"Okay kid you start and I will attempt to catch up to your blazing speed!"
He loved these little games with his mate and his daughter, so much fun!

"I know. I wouldn't want her anywhere near Sky anyway. But I just know if the stallions knew that that was who her 'Grandma' was, they wouldn't go anywhere near her." Tashi said with a laugh. She watched her little girl eat about half the apples but didn't mind at all. The foal needed her strength. Tashi picked one up mindlessly and took a bite, offering the rest to her mate."OK! READY, SET, GO!!" Schuyler yelled as she took off. Her little legs scrambling to try to beat her father. She wasn't looking back at all because she didn't want to waste any time.

Thali gently bit down and took half the apple from Tao, his foal however decided that she would start the race at that moment. "Schuy you brat I was eating!" He ran after her and spilled apple juice the whole way. He loped easily and he let her beat him again. "You get that from your mother, she always wins."

Schuyler giggled as she beat her father again. She saw her mother trotting up behind, all the apples had been eaten and her family was all together under the great tree.
"I win because I know how to get what I want." Tashi said flirtatiously as she pranced the rest of the way towards them. "Well, what should we do for the rest of the day?" She asked her family, unsure of what would be a good activity for the day.

"How about going for a nice swim in Uncle Tide's pond while he is away?" Thali asked, "There are fish there, would you like to see fish Schuy?" He grinned.
He loved to swim and couldn't wait to teach his daughter how. "It's so much fun, then we can find some more apples and bob for them!" He grinned at his mate.
