((This is taking place after the Rumor ORP))
Both of her hands were in her lap, beneath them the eyephone that would either mend the situation or break it apart completely. Things were getting crazy around Amityville once again, only a few weeks after several of their students had progressed to year 2 status, and while she wasn't particularly feeling like apologizing--after the 'fight', it was necessary.
She knew it was hypocritical to do so, but Natalia waited a day before getting ahold of Renaissance. Surely LW had things to say to him. He probably wanted to ensure that nothing had been broken, to apologize to his ghoulfriend on abandoning her just as things were getting heated between Red and Arel...the monster understood all of this. In a way, she sort of wondered if he would even notice it taking a whole twenty-four hours, or if he had forgotten she there in the first place. Would he want to talk to her, despite their neutral grounds laid out just before the FEAR battle commenced. Would he bother to answer? The monster had to admit, although she had decided to do it--calling the boil made her nervous, so if he didn't pick up...she may be just fine with it.
Or not...Ugh! Just do it. Just get it over with. Find out if he is still interested in being a friend or...if...everything is best left where it is. Stop being a coward.
She pursed her lips, took a hand to her shoulder and rubbed it gently...before groaning aloud. The Maul was empty at the early hour she nestled within it, but she had been cooped up in her dorm room for far too long to make an important call as was this...So after a huff, a puff, and another groan, Natalia lifted her phone up, pressed the speed dial (as she had not changed it since she got his number) and listened as the call began.
Ring...Ring...Ring...

The skellyphone in Ren's hand twirled to the side under his fingers, the other hand being used to prop Ren's chin up, his elbow on the desk and a pair of reading glasses perched on the end of his narrow nose. He was not bored, for once - but rather, irritated instead. He had gotten yet another call from his parents, demanding he return home immediately.
Ren did not see the logic in these daily calls. They did no good for either of them, especially since most of the time he simply hung up without bothering to listen to a word they had to say. And it was the same routine, day after day after day.
You think they would have gotten tired of it, after all this time, Ren thought idly, rubbing his fingers against his temple as he stared vacantly down at the spinning phone. He was almost daring it to ring, just so he could hang up on them again, but the skellyphone remained silent, the only sound that if Rhys' noisy munching on a carrot.
A sigh escaped his lips. Ren sat back in his desk chair, propping his feet up on the wooden surface and leaning his head back against his hand, elbow on the armrest. He debated whether to go see LW or not; the shewolf had not been feeling well as of late, and was currently taking a nap in her own room. But maybe he could sneak in and nap with her, or perhaps -
The phone rang. Ren eyed it, a little warily, then leaned forward and picked it up, glancing at the screen to see who it was.
It was not his parents - not even close. For a moment, Ren just looked at the caller ID, wrestling internally with himself, but he knew he would have to talk to her someday. After all, he had been the one to smile at her, take her hand and run with her down the hall like nothing was wrong.
Except something was wrong. But nothing would be done if he just sat there and ignored her.
He clicked the answer button.
"...hello."

Shia bean She had grown restless in waiting, drumming her nails against the plastic table she sat at, balancing on two of the chair legs beneath her rear, anxiously flattening out the ruffles of her skirt as she crossed and uncrossed her legs. It was as if time had slowed with every ring of the phone, her breaths catching nervously when a long pause followed after each of the tones...If he didn't pick up, it would be oka-- *CLICK* ...Hello. Suddenly she didn't know what to say. Jerking the phone away from her ear and dropping it to the table, the monster gasped and heaved in a sharp breath. Oh s**t. He answered. WHAT NOW?!...The phone went silent on the other end, moments passed as Natalia stared doe-eyed at the black, slick surface. Several minutes were passing by, and while the lemur was tempted to hang up the phone and proceed with her day, her arms moved on their own to bring the speaker back to her ear...and then, soon after it was there her lips pursed and then the most casual of responses came spilling from her lips. " Heeeey" A pause filled with nervous laughter came through, but fizzled into silence once again. Kuromeez Ren pulled the phone away from his ear and stared at it, wondering if she had hung up on him. There had been what had seemed like a gasp, a clattering noise, and then silence. He waited patiently. Then - "Heyyyyyyy."Ren rubbed the side of his head with his fingers again, closing his eyes briefly. He pushed the reading glasses up to pinch the bridge of his nose. I answered. I need to talk to her. I can't ignore this any longer."Natalia," came the quiet voice, Ren opening his eyes. "Long time no talk." Shia bean She was hardly breathing at all now, face probably turning a hint of blue as Renaissance spoke up again. Murmuring her name..."It has been a while." She mused cautiously. While the statement was suppose to hold the weight of accusation, the monster steered clear of it...she wanted to make amends after all. And it was so nice to hear him speak...she didn't want it to stop just yet. Dropping her forehead into one hand, Natalia sighed. She honestly didn't know how to begin! Pride still held a part of her back from apologizing and begging for forgiveness, making things extremely awkward as she sat contemplating what sort of casual topics could be brought up in place of what really needed to be said. Anything would do, she supposed...She was lucky, after all, that the gryphon had picked up in the first place. " LW is fine by the way. A couple of bumps and bruises here and there but--...I am...um...happy for you two." Kuromeez He reached up a hand, fingers pressing absently against his forehead. "Several months," Ren said, a little unnecessarily, and there was a slightly sharp edge to his voice. He had not meant to sound so irritable, but it had come out sounding snappish anyway unintentionally. Hearing Natalia's voice made him remember everything she had said to him, every little insult, the horrible way she had sneered at him. And, of course, he remembered slapping her as well. But that had been after she had accused him of getting Alessa pregnant. "I'm well aware how my ghoulfriend is," Ren said quietly, but it was not a derogatory statement; merely a fact. "Thank you for looking after her." He paused for a moment, his lips tugged downwards in a frown. Ignoring her last statement, instead he said "...what were you calling me for?" Shia bean The ghoul murmured something away from the phone, features tensing up in frustration. Several months indeed! Time should heal all wounds, shouldn't it? The tone, however unintentional, still stung and made the monster wonder if the call was even worth her time anymore. But Ren continued. And so would she. " Yeah. I care about her a lot. I--" Words faded away as checkpoint was reached and the time to act was now. The werelemur stalled for as long as she could, filling the gap with 'um's and 'well's until the words lept off the tip of her tongue. "You smiled at me, Renaissance. I thought that meant we were...ready." Taking he tail into her lap, holding it close to her chest Natalia sealed her eyes and continued. It was time. " We need to talk; in person. This is so unhealthy for the both of us...probably more so me than you...I...We just need to talk."
