 Finally. One day without that annoyance Russ badgering her about going out and meeting foxes. So...what was the tri-colored vixen to do? Her days were usually growling or being rude and threatening to her only male friend. That was all she ever knew. She had no other friends, no family, no one else to hang out.
Unless she counted the green vixen Pepper. Marie snorted as she thought about the other. Mrs. Know-it-all with a family. She was almost as bad as Russ. Almost in that she wasn't trying to get Marie to hang out with other males. Pepper was annoying in the sense that she seemed to know all about Marie, about how Marie might enjoy having some fun. Problem was...what was fun?
With a sigh Marie glared at herself at the water's edge of a river. "What are you looking at?"

 Another day out and about the green and black vixen was happy. She had a perk in her step as she walked along. The sun was out and it wasn't hot like she was used to so it was a nice change. Why was she out here and this far away from her normal area? Why was the sun hotter where she lived? That's cause she lived in a tribe that lived in a desert and why was she away because she snuck out to follow her older half brother. He seemed to be down and she wanted to check on him but since he grew up in a forest he was able to move faster than she. That was when she ran into two other vixens. One tri-colored black, red and white named Marie and the other vixen was also tri-colored but blues and purples named Ren. Marie, she had talked with for a little while and decided if the other vixen let her she would teach her some games that would be fun. But before she did that she had lead Ren back to the edge of her home in the desert. Ren had wanted to see what a desert was like since it was one place that she hadn't explored.
Now that she had seen that Ren had made it safely back to the desert she was on her way back to exploring the outside world before someone noticed from home that she wasn't there and sent someone out to find her and bring her back.

With a swipe of her paw, Marie caused her reflection in the water to ripple away. "Bah." Getting up, Marie stomped, for that was the only way to describe her walk at the moment, through the trees, ignoring the scared cries of the animals scurrying away from her. She'd find something to do on her own. Marie knew she could...couldn't she?
The vixen stopped underneath a tree and sat. Maybe she could. What did she like to do? She was usually by herself so she knew there were things she was able to do without anyone around. She could watch clouds perhaps. Run through the forest. Take a nap. Hunt. Maybe find another den so she didn't have to share one anymore with Russ.
Oh who was she kidding? Marie, totally, definitely, absolutely had no idea what to do.

As Pepper was walking she spotted a blue tree frog. She knew it was a tree frog because of how its skin looked and since it was blue she just put two and two together. With a smile she decided to play with it. She would pounce at it to make it hop and would follow it to where ever it went.
Nudging it with her paw she let it hop about 5 hops away than pounced. The frog of course hopped to get out of the way. This continued on as they moved threw the forest.

A noise nearby caused Marie's ear to twitch. She titled her head in the direction, aiming to hear what it might be better. A beat...two...three...There! Something was making its way towards her, but at odd intervals. Of course, it could be something that walked that way. Marie stood up, and alert and on edge, made her way slowly towards the sound.
She made her way through several trees, not seeing anything until she was very close to...Pepper. Marie watched in confusion as the green vixen pounced at what looked to be a frog, then let it get away, only to pounce after it again. "What are you doing?"

A sudden noise reached Pepper's ear causing her to crouch down and turn snarling at what ever it was. It had startled her and Rena taught her how to act in case she ran into some foxes that wished her harm. The once she realized it was Marie she instantly stood back up like normal and smiled "Hello Marie," she said.
When she had turned on the other fox her little frog buddy hopped away and was now lost. She gazed down at the grown for a sign of him but nothing. "I was playing with a blue tree frog. Its entertaining to practice your pouncing with them because they jump a decent distance," she said with her tail wagging behind her.

Marie's ears went back as Pepper answered her question initially with an aggressive one. If it weren't for the fact that Pepper then was calm..ish, Marie would have thought that she was another fox that hated her. That tended to happen with Marie. A couple times the fox would say that Marie should have been a Daeva. Whatever.
Still a little wary of Pepper, despite her appearance, Marie tilted her head. "Playing? With a frog? Practice pouncing? You not good enough yet at that?" Hard to imagine really, since the last time Marie and Pepper met, the green and black vixen had pounced Marie.

"I don't need it for the practices. I'm pretty well off in the pouncing area really. I mostly do it for the thrill of it. That excitement that rushes threw you when you attack your prey for the kill you know?" Pepper asked with a smile on her muzzle and her tail wagging slightly behind her.

Marie shook her head. "Nope." Thrill of attacking prey for the kill? Not something Marie felt. So there was no way she could understand what Pepper was saying. Marie didn't really get thrilled with stuff. It was like she was incapable of doing so. "You actually get a thrill from attacking?"

"So you never have adrenaline pumping when you give chase after prey?" Pepper asked. It didn't sound right but who knows it was possible. "I like the adrenaline that is released when your chasing after it."She said a little shyly pawing at the dirt.

"You mean the stuff that makes my heart beat faster? Yeah...that can happen cause I'm running. That tends to speed things up." Chasing after prey was something that had to be done. It wasn't like Marie could just sit around and food would fall out of the sky and land at her feet. "Besides, I hear too much adrenaline is bad for you."
What fox enjoys the adrenaline from a chase? Especially of prey? That just seemed wrong to Marie. Sure they had to survive. But the animals they killed were just trying to survive too.

"Yeah that. I think it happens when everyone runs. Like the fight or flight instinct."Pepper pointed out while thinking. "It is. But I only ever have it happen when I'm hunting. Though chase is my favorite game. It takes speed and stratagem to catch another." she said while watching the other fox. "Your thinking I just go kill animals just for the adrenaline rush huh?"

Oh...that. The feeling Marie always got whenever a male approached her. Marie shook her head. "Nope. Just trying to figure out why you might run from whatever prey you're chasing." Marie fell silent for a moment, trying to figure out why this 'chase' was a game. What fun was it to chase another fox or creature? And strategy if it was a game and not for killling? "Please explain this...chase."

Pepper giggled. "I wouldn't run from my prey but I would run from another fox if I was playing chase with them or if they wanted to do me harm. Or another predator. I really don't want to become someone's dinner." She explained. She paused for a moment. "Chase is pretty much running after another fox. It's practice for kits because they aren't allowed to hunt. Chase is a game that works on their running skills for the hunt. It is also a game some adults play just to relax so whatever stress in there life that is happening doesnt eat at em."

Kits, Marie could understand. They had to learn somehow, and they all couldn't be like her and tossed out in the wild without anyone to learn from. Not that it did Marie any harm mind you. But adults? "This chase actually relieves stress?" She tilted her head. "But you just said that when chasing something you get adrenaline, which can be stressfull." Boy was this Chase thing confusing.
