Riyo loved the cool breezes of the approaching chilly season, but she didn't necessarily enjoy taking walks out in it. Encounter rates on friendly people seemed to be high these days, and honestly the feline was sick of being bombarded by questions and smiles every time she set foot outside of the dorm.
Which is why her window was open today. The cool wind danced across her desk and kissed the papers on her desk as she worked on them, a content sigh following. The sound of the wind was accented by classical music undertones softly playing from the ghoul's record player in the corner of her room. Yes, it was a good day to be inside. Even her army of cats seemed keen to lay around and nap the day away. Not that they didn't most days.
Though, Riyo had made a minor miscalculation. She'd forgotten to get something to eat beforehand, and her stomach was growling. As much as the idea made her cringe, the cafeteria seemed like the best option. She didn't want to walk to town. That would take too much time, and there was work to be done.
Tossing on her coat, the ghoul marched towards the door. "I'll be right back." She told the felines who seemed to completely ignore her (to which she was accustomed to). The door quietly closed behind her as she tried to hurry and grab something to go, figuring it was no big deal if she left it unlocked. It wasn't like she would be gone longer than a minute.

Moments after the door had shut with a click, with a pause long enough to let Riyo travel most of the way down the hall, the door across from hers opened slowly. Carefully, as not to draw her attention back.
Deacon saw the flash of black tail and coat vanish around the corner, and then it was time to put his plan into action.
If he was discovered and maimed for what he was about to do, surely her horrified reaction would be worth it.
Just as cautiously as he had opened it, the tabby slipped out into the hall and carefully shut his door. He swiftly glanced down the hall to his left, then right, ensuring that no one else was in sight.
Two large strides brought him to her door, which he pressed his back against as though he were trying to camouflage with the dark wood. Blindly groping for the handle, he found it after a few seconds and had to bite his tongue against a cry of victory when he discovered it unlocked.
His expression was one of determination. He cast a quick glance up and down the hall again before he vanished into the ghoul's dorm and swiftly but quietly shut the door behind him.
Deacon wasn't entirely surprised to see a menagerie of cats lazing about; Riyo certainly was the Crazy Cat Lady type. However, that very assumption was what he was banking this entire mission on. If she wasn't accepting of strays, this plot was going to go violently downhill and fast once she returned.
And... Once she did return, there would be a 'new' cat casually exploring her living space.

"I guess that's a yes." Riyo mused, a rarely-seen sincere smile crossing her lips. For once, the ghoul actually looked mildly happy, as if just the idea of a new 'friend' made her hopeful. Something she would really never show in public.
Standing back up straight, the cat ghoul sighed and removed her coat, a nice long-sleeved button up shirt just underneath. Riyo wasted no time tossing the coat and her hat on the rack specifically made for them. "You know, if you had been a student barging in here, I would've done everything in my power to brutally end you." Was she hinting that she knew something? Not at all, actually. It was more the fact that the feline talked to herself a lot when she was 'alone'.
Without a moment's hesitation, the ghoul reached down to pick up the new addition to her herd of lazy minipets. "Now what shall I call you?" The ghoul mulled the thought over as she walked over to her bed and had a seat on the edge. "How about... Fredrick." Well. At least it wasn't Mr. Fuzzums. "It's an honorable sounding name, no?" As if a bribe to get the cat to like the name, the ear scratching resumed.
Silently, Felix crept up upon the two, a low growl reverberating from his throat. Oh no, this was not going to fly. Glancing over her shoulder, Riyo's brow raised. "What the hell is wrong with you, Felix?" He had never acted this way before. In fact, he always seemed happy when a new cat joined their ranks.

Kitty Deacon was in a temporary haze of kitten like biscuit-making, and only seemed to remember the world around him when Riyo stood up and stepped away from him.
He shook his head to ruffle his head fur back into place, as well as to try and get back into a more acceptable mindset. He wasn't a kitten, dammit.
Jack, but Christmastown was the only time that anyone had given him pets and the like... And that was the extent of good memories from last Christmas or anything vaguely related to it.
His ears perked when she spoke; he assumed to him. There was a familiar malice to her voice; something he couldn't miss when it was used around him so often. For the briefest moment, he was concerned that she did know. Though, when he was soon being scooped up in her arms that thought was cast aside.
Seated upon her lap once she'd sat, the little intruder curled up on it shamelessly, enjoying the attention. An ear flicked lightly at the suggestion of his name, but he made no sound of gesture otherwise against it. It could have been worse, and he didn't care so long as he wasn't getting thrown out.
Just as another purr rose from him with the resumed scritches, Deacon heard a sound that hadn't come from him. His eyes widened a bit, looking toward the source of the sound to see the Hazcat stalking close. Damn, in this form that thing was a little bigger than him... That probably wasn't good.
Deacon's ears lowered slightly, and he nestled into a tighter pose on Riyo's lap. Tail curled firmly around him, he stared at the other feline.
And then, he let out a twin mewl innocent to Riyo's ears.
To Felix, however?
< Do something. I dare you. >

Riyo couldn't help but laugh a little when "Fredrick" eagerly left her lap in favor of the goods she had offered. He was a smart one, too. "Alright, alright." The ghoul shook her head and got back on her feet. "C'mon. Into the kitchen then."
With the rhythmic precision of a person who had completed the task over one hundred times, Riyo reached up into the cabinets and grabbed an expensive looking bowl, filling it to the brim with milk from the fridge before placing it in the microwave. And while she waited on that, the can opener emerged from one of the drawers to break open a fresh can of tuna. Ah, what a pleasant smell. Riyo seemed to recall her hunger when the aroma filled the kitchen, though she did not take any for herself. It was all placed in an identical bowl that the milk had been deposited in and placed on the floor, the warm liquid following shortly after. "There you are."
By now, her own meal which sat in a cold take-out box on the table had grown... A little mobile. Such was the food from the cafeteria. If you didn't eat it fast... It sprung to life.
Cringing as Riyo saw the box twitch, she immediately grabbed it and chucked it out the window. "... Oh well." The ghoul sighed and poured herself a glass of milk instead. "That's a pound I won't be gaining..." Like she wasn't a twig already.

Her words gained no reply as the greedy cat finished off the bowl of milk, sitting back once he'd done so to lick his lips and whiskers clean before beginning the task of washing his face.
Truth be told, Deacon didn't even realize that Riyo had directed her attention elsewhere until a thirty minute grooming session came to an end. Purring, he had padded quietly into her living area and peered up at her for several moments. Amazingly, he chose not to disturb her and instead made his way over to her bed where he hopped up and curled up on her pillow.
And that was where he stayed until she declared it was her bedtime, when he got up and stretched dramatically, yawning. As she opened the closet door, the realization didn't seem to click until he hopped down onto the floor and approached.
He backpedaled a couple of steps when the Hazcat slunk out of the closet. A half-glare was aimed at Felix, before the tabby sat back onto his haunches. If he was going to try to make this work... There would have to be a truce. Somehow.
Carefully, he watched the nergal, tense in case he needed to avoid another attempted mauling. This time, Riyo had a door between herself and the two of them... So, Felix would unfortunately have a vital several seconds to act.

Felix trained his eyes on Deacon as he heard the door slam behind his master, quiet paws carefully treading away from the situation, but never taking his... Lenses off his new arch nemesis. Oh, the nergal wanted to maul him. He didn't like Deacon on a normal day, and this was ten times worse. Moreover, to avoid an angry Riyo, he would have to sleep somewhere else tonight. Yes, he'd been through this ritual before.
Just as the hazcat hopped up on a dresser, the closet door opened. Rubbing her eyes, the feline's ears twitched as she stepped out. No sounds of hissing and ripping flesh. Looked like she'd got her point across.
The result of the wait was... Slightly disappointing. Red, long-sleeved pajamas appeared to be the ghoul's normal bedtime attire. What a shame. One by one, the lights flipped off and left the room in darkness. Not that it mattered to a cat. Quiet feet padded over and parted the fabric of the canopy, curling up under the covers and falling silent, though her eyes remained open.
