Taboos of Roleplaying
In the years of roleplaying, there are a selected bunch of terms that people tend to overuse and cheat their way out of being creative and original. Although there are profiles that do not possess these terms, the content these profiles at times still translate to the same meaning. We are not banning the use of these terms, but what we are saying is try your best to avoid them. Here I will explain to you what these terms are.
Manipulate- Simply stating that you can manipulate something pretty much makes you god of that specific thing. It leaves you no room to be creative whatsoever and it completely allows you to bend the said thing in any direction possible. Example, simply saying that you can manipulate water in one sentence pretty much makes you god of the water element vs the person who put work into their profile
Absorb- Absorb is another overused term in roleplaying. Simply saying you are able to absorb vs a person who has spent about three hours working on the said thing you can absorb is not going to fly. Most of the time absorb is something you can take from the opponent and strengthen yourself with which gets kinda old, especially for the person who has spent time and effort into their profile.
Cancel/Nullify- These terms usually mean the same thing and should definitely be avoided when. The only thing this is good for is simply negating everything someone put their work into without the necessary effort, skill, or strategy.
Immune- People who state that they are immune to a said thing are usually telling you in so many words that they cannot be affected by it in any way or form which also defeats the purpose of a person creating a profile based on the said thing you are immune to. Example if you are a lightning user, and you believe you have a good defense against lightning, the best way to explain that is to say that you are 'resistant' to the said thing. Not completely immune.
Reflect- Let's face it, no one wants you throwing back everything that they throw at you but stronger than ever. This term is often overused at times and gets pretty old fast especially if you're facing off against someone who has put work into their profile.
Copy- Last but not least, copying isn't exactly the most original thing to do when facing off against an opponent either. No one wants to see their hard work, skill, and effort in the hands of their enemy who will then use the techniques to the exact. Anyone who knows about the sharingan from Naruto knows exactly what I speak of when I say this. This is pretty much the sharingan technique of every guild.
