There existed in a certain parasitic Nergal's dictionary only two words that ever really meant anything of value to said parasitic Nergal. And like any commonly used words, they became rather uncommonly used if they were not actually well, used in practice. In fact, every single Nergal minipet that Spectrae actually owned that long either dissipated or become eternal refugees in the Other Side of the Minipet Closet because of Aforementioned Two Words, and for good reason.
Spectrae thought she was, simply put the most useful creature ever. And by useful it also meant helpful, which also meant she was the absolute best at what she did. She chuckled a bit to herself, which sounded something like a hiss and a very low burp, and crouched down low in her position of choice today, right next to the stairs leading up to the school office wing. Granted, she had probably forgotten that this was actually the Emergency Exit stairs and thus, noone really used them, but thankfully one of the Nergal's most redeeming features was that she was patient. A little too patient.
Soon, someone would come up those very stairs and ask for her help, she just knew it!

Why.... why hadn't she brought a map? Despite her daily prowlings, much of the school was still a mystery to Vieve, and sometimes passages she thought she recognised brought her to places she was distinctly sure she didn't.. recognise.
Coming up a flight of stairs (how many stories had it even been), the girl noticed something curious- something dark, crouched at the top of the stairs. Was it a bunch of gnomes huddled together? Or a giant pudding? Maybe even a small cow?
She took a few more steps, only to see another student huddled up and staring at her somewhat expectantly. It was the first time she'd actually seen a Nergal that wasn't a minipet; somehow, she couldn't stop staring, although she did try her best to turn her gaze somewhere else, and simply ignore the other girl. Then again....
"Hey, you. You wouldn't.. happen to know the way out of this section of the school, would you?"

From the newcomer's perspective, they might have seen a very Strange Dark Blob peering at them. It was slightly glowing green and had plastered on its face the most ridiculous smile. Some The Dark Blob's eyes blinked. They had made eye contact, great success! It was a sign, a blessing!
Without so much as another word, Spectrae coiled back, and literally sprang up towards the other. The parasitic nergal seemed to be doing their best impression of flailing all her limbs, including her tails eagerly in some sort of spaztic dance. "I AM USEFUL!" She managed to hiss at the top of her lungs.

As she approached the dark figure, it leapt up suddenly and began dancing almost frantically.
Vieve might have been able to appreciate the dance more- it seemed almost celebratory- if she hadn't been knocked over by the creature. The girl rolled down the stairs, painfully aware of every step, and landed in a somewhat pathetic pile on the floor.
"Nnnnnghhhh.." with a soft groan, she picked herself up. How many accidents had she already gotten into, since she'd started school? At least she hadn't broken anything this time.. hopefully.
