Wading through the cool waters Kamau looked up at the sky above. Was it going to rain again today? The leopard frowned. As much as he enjoyed storms he was beginning to wonder if the sun would ever come back out? Even his mother seemed to be a bit depressed by the lack of sun and she was the one who normally danced in the rain! Smacking the surface of the water Kamau watched the ripples. They were already spreading out so quickly…that reminded him was it time for him to spread out again? It had been a while since he had went out on his own. Usually the leopard only visited for a couple of days before leaving again, but since Safi had his cubs…

Well life had gotten busy.

What was his the official cub sitter or something? Kamau shook his head. He should be the one out in the rogue lands having more adventures instead of sitting home like some mother. Hell he didn’t even have any inklings about a family of his own so why should it feel like he was the one that had cubs? “Jeesh.” Smacking the water again the leopard sighed before turning back towards shore.

Xandeleigh stalked through the muck and puddles, striving to find a dry place to rest for a while. The dark lioness was as silent as the night fanning out across the land in search of her prize. She had been walking for a while now, and while she was loath to admit it, she wasn’t as young as she used to be so the journey was beginning to take its toll. Bones creaked and popped, joints stretched in the rain, and her eyes, as clear as a full moon burned from exhaustion.
Just as she was about to call her search off for the day, she spotted what she knew to be a leopard at the water’s edge. He wasn’t what she was looking for in the slightest, but she couldn’t very well leave him looking as distressed as he was. “You there, leopard.” She addressed him plainly. It wasn’t as if she disliked other species, she just didn’t know his name. “What has vexed you so?”

Kamau swirled around in surprise. Who? What? How in the world had a lioness sneaked up on him like this? He frowned. Nia would have his hide for being taken so easily. “What?” He looked up at her before giving a soft chuckle, “You so bored that you have to ask others about their business?” His emerald eyes burned with agitation yet there was some humor behind that. He wasn’t afraid to talk to her like this and was even amused that she actually asked that question. But to be afraid of a lion? For his family that would be something to be ashamed of. Hell he would even wrestle with a few.

Still it wasn’t like him to be so openly hostile so Kamau had to force a deep breath to calm down. Just because she had gotten him by surprise did not mean that she was a bad-wait a second. Blinking the leopard looked over the lioness. Something about her pelt was oddly familiar. Just…more blue than the…oh. “Who are you?” He asked suddenly peering closer at her. There was no way…but the way she looked was so much like that lion.

Xandeleigh passed a pensive look his way, and then grinned. The act in itself was a mirror reflection of her mother’s, though much tamer in style and mannerism. “And if I am? I’ve come to this land in search of someone, and I would like to be made aware of any trifling manners that may hinder my hunt.”She was more curious than anything as to what this leopard was doing on his own; what made him what to smack water, and spaz before her like that. That bit made her proud. Even after her considerable years, she still had it.
“Who am I?”She curled her lip. “My name is Xandeleigh, but the question is who are you? Or should I address you as ‘Whelp’ or ‘cur’, since that is how you’ve chosen to behave.” Why in the world was he staring at her like that? Hadn’t he ever seen a female before?

For some reason the grin sent up a nightmare of shivers from a vague memory. As it was Kamau had to grin back at her, “Oh? Searching eh?” He shook his head. Wasn’t that what everyone was out in the rogue lands doing? Always searching for him or her or for that thing. Hmph. Maybe that was his problem. He wasn’t searching for anything just letting his paws lead the way. “Do you really think my business would hinder your hunt?” He gave her a look saying, ‘seriously?’ He highly doubted his life had anything to do with this…well then again.

Why the hell did she look so much like Abrafo?

“Huh. You should be related. It would make sense.” Kamau just ignored the insult before shrugging. “Not my business whose blood you share though.” Xandeleigh. A disappointment that such a name went with her. He was expecting something more like Abraia or something. The thought made him grin. If they were even related…which was possible. But still why would he care? Abrafo never mentioned a Xandeleigh after all. Turning the leopard waved his tail at her before slowly wading away and pulling himself up on the other shore.

“If you live in these lands and plan to stain it with your drama, then yes, I would say it does.” His curt tongue was beginning to wear on her. Xandeleigh had yards of patience, but when she felt more like napping than talking, it was diminished considerably. She wouldn’t sit, however, or so much as lean beside the stranger. Better just to roll onto her back, and point out her kill zones.
“So you know him, then.” Xandeleigh commented offhand, even as the leopard began to leave. She gave him a wide enough birth before trailing after him. “That is assuming you know my brother, Abrafo, or at least enough of him to make that call. "

Kamau just shook his head. “You don’t have to worry about me doing that, though if you meet the rest of my family…well then maybe.” His gaze looked back over her and the leopard sighed softly under his breath. He was horrible at nice conversations, but didn’t want to fight with this lioness. It would be a waste of energy for the both of them no matter who would win or not.

As it was talking was beginning to wear him thin as well.

“Brother?” Kamau nearly paused in surprise before chuckling. “Then I suppose you are related. Though you seem to have not seen him recently as you would know more about why a leopard knows him.” Shaking his head the male moved on before pausing. He already knew she was following him, but still now that this was actually his ‘aunt’ of sorts he might be more courteous. “Come on then, ‘aunt’. I’m heading back now if you want to see Abrafo.” Without waiting for her reaction the leopard moved on.
