A far cry from the immaculately maintained walls and corridors of the Seireitei, located on the outskirts of West Rukon District #80, lays a wild tangle of bramble and under brush that conceals the endless acres of peat bogs just beyond. Unlike the relatively safe forests located through out Soul Society, this bog is endless filled with one treacherous turn after another. The tall spindly trees reach hundreds of feet into the sky, spreading their canopy of leaves to block out only a spotting of light, casting the world below in shades of gray and blue. Making visibility worse is the green house effect over the soaking peat, raising the temperature to uncomfortable leaves and humidity, with a noxious white fog. Although harmless at first, a few hours of inhalation can cause delirium, leaving a wanderer stranded to become the lunch of one of many dangers. Poisonous plants and bugs abound, easily causing short term paralysis if one should come in contact with them, while others simply cause nausea. Unfortunately, that is not the end of the dangers. Years before, experimental Hollow were accidentally introduced to the region, and they have adapted perfectly with the swampy footing. Swimming like sharks, and looking the part, these predators slip through dirt and water with ease, waiting for a traveler to make a mistake and be captured in at least on of their five sets of jaws. Don’t forget the flora as well, many of the alien plants will happily take a bite out of you.

One of a myriad of limbs groaned uncharacteristically as a surefooted step brought part of Kowabi’s weight to bare down on the treetops. The bog bellow seemed to protest her presence, the screams of shrieking raptors and the empty call of wandering Hollow turned the otherwise serene and sun drenched trees into something otherworldly. Cacophony of sound aside, Kowabi allowed her feet to slip from beneath her, sliding her body swiftly between the thin layers of branches and plummeting into the mists that sent tendrils curling upwards, claws pulling her towards its predatory maw.

She tried not to inhale sharply, the stench of fermenting peat almost enough to cause her eyes to water, but the old Vizard sucked it up and continued towards the goal of a tiny patch of solid rock protruding from a section of fetid water. A low ‘thud’ accompanied her landing, echoing through the mists and causing the sounds of the wilderness to still. Sound alone didn’t cause the silence, rather Kowabi and her own predatory nature brought down a veil of stillness at the same moment her neon eyes snapped open. With care she trod from her perch, waraji softly scuffing against the ruff bark encompassing the enormous roots she now ascended. Once at the apex of the roots, she dropped to her bottom, welcoming the atmosphere to hide her from sight and sense. She hadn’t been the one to call anyone here, but her summons had been clear, and a loyal as her binding forced her to be, Kowabi would find perverse pleasure in this ‘friendly’ little bout.

Mussla layed, undisturbed, unmoving, silent, and protected deep within one of the bogs stagnant pools of putrid water. His breathing was slow, shallow and almost non-existent, in short he was in a perfect state of slumber, one not even the ravenous hollows occupying the forest dared to disturb. "..." Mussla remained, his body twitched as the surroundings around him stirred, a resonating roar echoed through the underwater ecosystem causing a myriad of underwater hollows to dart here and there. As they moved the water pushed back and fourth gently tugging the slumberring arrancars lanky body. His eyelids peeled back revealing his dull sea green eyes, which shone through the dark swamp. His body slowly animating, much akin to a machine whirring back to life after years of inactivity, and ever so slowly his body slowly floated up to the surface. His head peeked out of the surface of the dark pond, it's silence was broken as the sound of buzzing insects and rustling wild (hollow) life surrounded him from all sides.

Mussla felt oddly at home, even though his true home was the sea, but no matter what his being was made to thrive in an environment such as this one. The thick white fog provided little cover for any predators attempting to sneak up on him since his unique pesquisa made him in a sense blind, yet all seeing. Mussla saw no actual pictures, only wisps of color-coded energy. Mussla slowly floated over to a barge of land where he pulled himself out, shaking his massive 7' 1" body dry and clean of any smudge. He walked over to the edge of the bog and pulled his right sleeve up and shoved his hand deep into the water, pulling out a large U-shaped trident which was roughly 5' taller then he was. After he shook the weeds and muk off of it he took a few glances around the thick fog covered swamp and noted a relatively large reitsu, one too big to belong to any hollow lurking in the surrouding area. For the time being he decided it'd be best to stay away from it. Slowly Mussla began to make his way through the swamp.

From the incompetent sun, who's rays could not pierce the protective canopies of the toxic haven, to the gentle flowers that had stumbled into the area during the windy seasons, searching desperately for a home, not knowing what they were getting themselves into. There was only one creature among the shrubbery and raving Hollows that could ever possibly sustain the perfect camouflage. A lonely sculpture of sopping bog-weed and probably urine stained mud walked across a quickly fading path. It had probably been frequented by children running from thugs, only to be brunch for the 'shollowarks' as our smelly piece of modern art called them. The children only made it so far clearly, as the path abruptly ends next to a small pond. He should not be prey today, for his camouflage was far supreme to any other. However, even mindless creatures can become curious; especially over any mass of bog-matter that came out of the waters for an afternoon stroll and a smoke. One of these 'shollowarks' came bursting from the bile swamp and onto the moist dirt and moss. The green and brown sculpture turned to this horribly mistaken 'shollowark', and pointed and laughed heartily, as it desperately flopped about the muck trying to close the distance from itself and it's mystery meal.
"Hahahaha! You think you can catch me with your silly water limbs?!" Letting out afterwords, something that sounded vaguely like the acronym 'ROFL'. When the sight of this ridiculous 'shollowark' flopping about wasn't enough to pull anymore laughter from him, he instead decided to begin to poke it's face with his unsheathed zanpakutou. Eventually, he would probably do enough damage give it a soul burial that is typically done on a hollow, but hell this was more fun.

"I should have just destroyed this place a long time ago." The captain of squad 5 said as he hovered a foot above the water in the position of meditation. He could feel that three of the combatants had already arrived and were already having some problems with the terrain as he was. His main problem was the air, the toxic fumes that were entering his lungs would eventually begin to cause fatigue and loss of reiatsu. This was bad for Yamoto because with the types of opponents he was about to face he would have to be able cast high level spells multiple times. "I'm going to destroy this place." The captain mood was beginning to go south. If the air wasn't bad enough he had noticed that two hollow were circling the water around him. The captain would have to waste energy if these two hollow moved into an attacking pattern which he knew they soon would.

The captain's suspicions soon came true as the first hollow flew out of the swamp water it's jaws hoping to squeeze down upon Yamoto's head. The shinigami sighed as he opened his eyes to see the oncoming enemy. The two being's eyes made contact for a moment but that was all it took. The hollow suddenly erupted into flames and was no more. The captain retracted his right index finger, the finger that he had used to cast the spell, back to the palm of his hand. There was still the matter of the second hollow that had yet to attack. Yamoto's patience had run out long ago, so now it was his turn to attack. The captain's actions were quick. He grabbed the fin of the hollow and pulled it out of the water. The body of this hollow was larger then it's mate which only made Yamoto smile. "Smart fish." The shinigami put his right index and middle finger on the hollow's backside. "Bye now." A bolt of lighting shot through the hollow causing death instantly. "I'm definitely going to blow this place up."

Trailing through the bog and fog Ogato swung his sheathed zanpakuto around swatting the bothersome insects. Although his focus seemed to be on these insects he was really just trying to keep them out his ear as he thought out his purpose for being here and what he might run into while venturing this environment. The fumes of the fog were stomach churning to Ogato so he kept his face in his clothes the entire walk in.

As he drew towards deeper waters he said to himself, "To think, I just got through with training someone not to long ago in a place similar to this. Now I'm in a place probably five times as bad." As the water started to pass his ankles, creatures near by began to stir, moving towards him. Ogato seemed to concern with talking to himself that he didn't hear the movements in the water. As he reached the deepest part of the water in his path he laughed, "Hehe, well I'm sure I'll things will be alot more fun here than with those guys. They're good fighters and all, but they're just learning they haven't gotten to that level yet." Suddenly his smiling face went away as he was snatched underwater. In waist deep waters Ogato was being dug under by an odd creature, it seemed some odd variation of shark. The beast managed to snag his leg, but only broke the skin. Reacting quickly Ogato jabbed the beast in the eye with his sheathed sword forcing it to let him go. Standing up in the water, which was only waist deep, Ogato unsheathed his zanpakuto and made his way to land.

Finding a somewhat dry spot to rest he sighed and looked at his leg seeing a few bloody wounds, but nothing to serious. Pulling off his haori and kosode he rung them out and put on his haori then wrapped his kosode around his face. It didn't help much in way of ventilation of the fumes, but atleast he won't be as nauseated as he would be. As he stood up and began to make his way in deeper the ground beneath him shifted. Stepping aside and standing his ground he watched as the ground shifted in a small circle before the creature from earlier emerged lunging at him, jaw agape. Leaping towards it he swung down on it's head slicing it down the middle clean. As the creature dropped to the ground like a stone Ogato rested his bloody sword on his shoulder and said with a smirk, "Well, this place sure is fun, if it wasn't for the smell I'd come here more often."

"Heh." Was the only word Zebediah said as he stood motionless atop one of the trees, his black cloak gently waving in the light breeze coated with the tang of peat stank. He watched as one rather insane Shinigami stabbed one of the Fish Hollows that he had dissected earlier repeatedly in the face, for no other reason this his own amusement. Another Shinigami, the 5th Squad captain, hovered gently above the waters, his disdain for this natural habitat of fire-users obvious. The final Shinigami was Ogato, and he was being eaten by one of the Bog Sharks.

Finally, there were the two that he was interested in fighting; A Vaizard, which was a rare sight in any of the three realms, and his old 'friend' Mussla, who he swore he would destroy the next time he ran into him - he now had the ability to do just that. The vice-captain grinned as he pulled the hood of his cloak up, drew his blade, and jumped down the tree, plummeting the 100 or so feet, with his blade cutting into the tree, burning it, and beginning the great battle royale.

"Slice to the core, burn the soul..." He inhaled as he spoke, and finished with an explosive burst of pure heat that made the gases began to cackle and burn slowly. "Hikanakon!" He shouted as he landed, plunging the blade deep into the peat, and setting it ablaze. "I'm going to enjoy this battefield..." He grinned as he used the heat to light up one of his cigarettes. "There... That should give away my location to just about everything and everyone in the entire peat bog.

Sure enough, a gaggle of Bog Sharks, immediately converged upon his location. And, just as quickly, they became fuel for his forest fire. Cutting them down with such precision, they barely had time to react to the 6'8" behemoth who literally was pouring heat and flames from his body. "Prepare everyone... This is coincidentally the best place for me to fight..." he spoke softly as he began to laugh.

“Do you intend to completely eviscerate the landscape?”

Kowabi’s low voice drifted just above the crackling of the racing flames, her sure footsteps skillfully avoiding burns as she slunk forward. Her spattering of typical reiatsu had pulsed momentarily when she’d moved, strong enough that even inexperienced sensors could feel the malignant wave, then shut down to a carefully controlled rhythm on her approach. She would fool no one today, assassination, although her specialty, would only aid her in stealth. “Or…hope that the standing waters here, ponds and what not, won’t hinder your fires?” As the old Vizard spoke, her dark fingers withdrew her zanpakutou with a metallic hiss, immediately forcing the metal to breakdown and melt. Grasping the dripping metal with her other hand, an flick of her wrists apart and her Shikai took shape, the daggers flickering with orange and yellow light in the growing inferno. No change in her reiatsu expression took place, only the sudden reformation of her sword.

She was smiling. A flash of white on black. Never good.

For today, Kowabi’s studious control would be stripped away.

Her reiatsu erupted from her seemingly fragile frame, smothering the blaze at her feet the instant she’d launched herself forward. A straight forward attack, an inexperienced fools attack, but for Kowabi this would be a test. Daggers rose for a slice at the throat, and an eerie laugh echoed behind her. Hopefully the behemoth man would give her some sort of challenge.

Concern for the other combatants would come later.

"So it has begun."

Yamoto stepped on to the water causing a small ripple on the surface. He looked around the area trying to find a suitable opponent to start off with. The vizard seemed to be already engaged with the vice captain of squad 12, so there was no need to go over in the direction. Ogato seemed to be have some trouble so he would leave him alone for now. "That leaves the other shinigami and the arrancar." The captain smiled as he shot up into the air causing the water below him to disperse below him all the way to the bottom of the swamp. The captain flew through the thick trees until he was above the tree horizon. "Now where are they?" Yamoto felt around the area until he got the exact location of the two combatants.

The captain raised both his arms and adjusted the aim for both location. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Inferno and pandemonium, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws. The sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hado 31 and 33 Red Fire Cannon, Blue Fire Crash Down." The sky above the swamp glowed a tint of both red and blue as both spell fired simultaneously in the direction of the arrancar and the shingami. The more powerful spell headed towards Mussla while the weaker headed towards the shinigami who was playing with the hollow sharks.

Zeb smiled; he would finally have the chance to try out his new technique. But not now, that was for later. Slashing his blade upwards, he cause the noxious fumes to explode in front of him as a distraction. "I plan on taking out all of you who stand in my path to victory. And I plan on cleaning up after 12th Squad's mistakes."

Raising his blade into a proper guard, he then shunpo'd into the thick smoke that was beginning to spread throughout the forest; the accelerated flames of his Shikai combined with the peat was giving up a nice amount of pressure and a good amount of smoke which was mixing heavily with the gases that already existed in the peat bog.

"La~lala~la" He sang to himself as he speed through the smoke, further cutting up the peat, accelerating the fires even more. Letting the carbon gases build up under the crust, he felt like he was making a giant bomb in the forge. "If you let gases build up, apply heat, and have no exits for the gases... You've made a bomb!" He smiled as he talked to himself "Tik-tok, tik-tok."

The incredibly tall, thin trees in the distance, isolated from the rest of Rukongai, were an unmistakeable indication of the venue. To think that in the darkest corner, and argueably the most treacherous, shinigami were coming here from Sereitei. Also making his way to the location was Kaisho, who had been pondering the reason behind coming this far out, and had only driven himself to seek out the area to fathom the situation. As Kaisho edged closer using his flash steps, he abruptly halted his movements, feeling the slightest trace of spiritual pressure in the air from a great distance. It was only faint, yet to feel it from where he stood it must have been significantly elevated, either that or those exhibiting a large presence had finally come into detection range. Whichever way Kaisho wanted to read the situation, it was safe to assume that intriguing events were about to unfold, but events that were probably best steered clear of. Kaisho had briefed himself on the location before departing, knowing that it was a place of refuge for Hollows kept for experiments, who long ago had gotten free and had now adapted, thriving within the dark and murky marshes. Chances were that whoever was congregating had a specific reason for being there, and while he never wanted to bother with the ordeal of coming here, weaker shinigami may approach the region due to curiosity, brought upon by hearsay and an urge to demostrate their powers in the presence of the higher ranks. This gave Kaisho a responsibility to be there; to order them to head back to Sereitei, or at the very least, shield them from danger posed by greater powers.

After his brief moment of contemplation, Kaisho resumed his pace once more. His white haori and teal coloured cape flapped furiously as he vanished out of view on one step, reappearing on the next tens of metres ahead. He increased his speed slightly with only a few kilometres between himself and the ‘entrance’ to the bog through the densely crowded outer trees. A large level of spiritual pressure arose within the vicinity of the bog suddenly, not only that, there were more than just one now. Kaisho was astounded by one in particular, his eyes widened as the peculiar pressure mounted. “A Hollow? No. Wait... is that a-?” Kaisho uttered in thought, a thought occurring to him that stopped him in his tracks just inches from the entry point. “A-a Vizard! It has to be.” Kaisho stuttered. “Sure, I can sense the presence of hollows, and even a few Shinigami, but there’s one that has a mixture of both. There’s no mistaking it.” He exclaimed, quickly dashing further into the murky combination of forest and swampland, light fading quickly the further he intruded, until only the dimmest of light breached through the heavily layered canopy filled the humid air. His spiritual pressure was surely felt by those in the bog now, but in comparison to the Captain-level pressure he possessed, it was misleadingly low. With that said, Kaisho only wore is haori to indicate to others unaware of who he was (lower ranking shinigami, moreso) that he was in fact a Captain. Kaisho would have much rather wore it as a second sash to conceal his rank and strength, for he liked to avoid the ‘serious’ combat Captains were known for having to undertake. Well, he also found some enjoyment in deceiving those who challenged him, but those who really knew him well could tell that in an instant.

Making his way through, he noticed that there was a white fog within that made searching with his eyes difficult, having to rely more on his ability to sense those around him using their reiatsu signatures because of this. The smell of the pungent bog forced Kaisho to use the neck of his cape as a cover for his mouth and nose, the foulness caused by the decomposition in such a hot and humid climate was not favoured by his sensed by any means. Speaking of heat, or rather temperature, it suddenly sky rocketed as he broke through a clearing. It was none other than the huge Zebediah Flamstel rushing recklessly around with his Shikai activated, searing flames being poured into the peat bog, destroying a number of shark-like Hollows within. The next reiatsu he could feel was that of the Vizard, whom he knew nothing about, as her reiatsu spiked. She proceeded to attack Zeb, who had used one of his attacks to distract the Vizard and moved into the smoke. Meanwhile, he could sense other noticeable signatures around him, one being an Arrancar, the other a Shinigami, while a third was Captain Ogato Shiraki whom he had not seen outside of important meetings. Then, he noticed another above him as Yamoto Shiboo, Fifth Squad’s Captain, had ascended into the air. He could feel a stir around the Captain, similar to a kido being prepared but thought nothing of it until two mid-level spells were fired simultanoeusly, heading for the Arrancar and Shinigami. Firmly abiding by his motives for coming here, Kaisho acted quickly to intercept the kido heading for the Shinigami.

Keeping his reiatsu to a minimum, Kaisho flash stepped above the shinigami and activated his Shikai without command. “Tsuibi Hyouchuu; Heki.” He uttered calmly, all seven tassels pointing in the direction of the attack before firing their streams of sharply tipped ice to counter. Tens of feet above him, the attacks struck one another head on, all seven ice streams shattered in the collision, but his intention to intercept the attack was successful... though... the shockwave loosened the cape from his face, causing him to gag as he breathed deeply after his efforts, the vile smell invading his passage ways. With a splutter and a cough, he swiftly brought the cloth to his face again and tightened the string on it.“This is a dangerous place to be.” Kaisho muttered to noone in particular, reverting his Zanpakuto to its sealed state, sheathing it behind his back whilst staring up at the trees.

Just as Ogato was enjoying the environment there was a heavy thud not to far from his location. Following the thud was a raging burst of flames, Ogato didn't turn around to see it, but he could hear it and feel it just fine. As the shock wave of heat hit him he stared blankly before saying to himself, "Well that must be the starting gun." Ogato looked down at the halved creature and shrugged his shoulders. Figuring he's scan the area before he ran off he removed his eye-patch and looked around. As he looked around he could see a handful of high level beings within the bog, some of them looked familiar while others, not so much. Since he could see things far away as well as most he decided to charge towards the spot where the flames originated. Dropping his zanpakuto to his side he dashed forward looking straight ahead. With his sword in hand he flicked his wrist and whispered, "Awaken Ru-Tuskiookami." As it reshaped itself, the guard took the shape of a wolf's head and the hilt resembled the notches of a spine.

As he drew near the destination in which the flames originated he stopped just outside the action and examined what was going on. Looking about he spotted a hooded man causing havoc about the battle field. Not to far from this man was Yamoto, who had just fired a kidou and it seemed to be intercepted by an outside force. The kidou was apparently fired at a lieutenant and arrancar who has just started a clash. Ogato didn't want to cut into either fight just yet, but he wasn't going to hide his spiritual pressure either since he didn't want to hide from a fight. He knew that there were atleast 5 people total in this area, but the fifth seemed to be lurking nearby allowing his reaitsu to bend in with the wild life. Squinting his eyes as if it would help him see through the fog better he said to himself, "I don't care what you are I'm jumping at the first open opportunity I have to join a fight."

Mussla had made it a point to stay away from the combatants; however, they made it a point to run into him. The first he noticed was Zebediah, a shinigami he had previously faced, yet held no grudge against seeing as how their battle never ended nor was it important enough for him to go out of his way to have a problem with the shinigami. Zeb on the other hand was making it a point to announce to Mussla he was here and that he was ready for a fight. The fire he created was much more powerful and much more refined then the last time Mussla had fought him, which was a terstament to his improval since the last time they fought Zeb had yet to master shikai. Mussla wasn't impressed by this show of strength, but was more instead annoyed that the fiery tempered shinigami was currently burning his residence to the ground which by no means Mussla would stand. Mussla would end his tyraid, but was cut short by another shinigami. This one seemed to be proficient in kidou and had given Mussla a rather warm welcome, "Libérer," he muttered as the sand throughout the entire forest stirred with life mixing with Mussla's reitsu, a thick wall of sand rose between him and the hadou which sunk deep within the bog sand. The dirt itself was weak even when mixed with Mussla's reitsu and barely aborbed the shock of the shinigami's low-leved hadou. Mussla made no wasted movement as he himself sank into the sand, effectively vanishing from the first shinigami's detection. Mussla however would make an attempt to slow the shinigami, "Covet," he whispered once more causing several large tentacles of sand to raise from the ground which latched around the base of the tree slowly swaying it from side to side before snapping it at the base with minimal ease.

Yamoto had hoped for at least an explosion out of one of his two attacks, but his wish had not been granted. He had expected the arrancar to avoid the low level spell, but he had not foreseen the event of of a new participant in this battle. "The captain of squad 7? Oh this is getting interesting." The lowered his self back in to the bog below him. The air in the swamp had become fierce with the smell of smoke. It seemed the twelfth squad vice captain was going on a rampage. He's smart. The shinigami knew that with all the gas and tree cover that eventually this place would become a bomb of somewhat causing a fairly large explosion. "It seems he is doing my job for me." Yamoto let out a little chuckle at this place blowing up and it not him being to one to do it. The captain's little fit of laughter soon stopped as he came back to fact that he was still in a battle, and that he still had many opponents to beat.

Yamoto searched a while for the most suitable reiatsu to fight now. He smiled as he found the captain of squad 7's energy was a few hundreds yards away from him. The captain began to flash step over to the area to the area where the reaitsu signature was coming from until finally he caught up with Kaisho. "And what brings you out here my friend?
