She wanted to try a new art project recently but she also wanted to gather some tea leaves on her own. Lattice had found some that were growing wild on supposedly un-owned property. The ghoul first settled down on the ground and set up all of her ink painting supplies. The place was peaceful enough that she could just sit right there, enjoy the scent of leaves, and paint.
Today was the day she'd try some sume-i painting. With her parchment settled on a firm portable lap table with everything arranged and ready to go she took a paint brush in hand and started to work at the sturdy parchment as she sang a quiet song to herself.
"Sleep priestess, lie in peace. If you cry, the boat you ride the last trip to the other side~..." It was a song that some of the Engravers still sang as they worked though no one really seemed certain of the origin anymore or why the song was important.

It seemed as good of a time as any to be out for a stroll. The day was a fairly nice one for the area and there wasn't much of a reason for him to be staying in. Fresh air and a walk about helped clear the mind after all, and perhaps he'd find a nice spot to himself somewhere that he could just relax. That sounded like a pretty good idea.
Aside from that, he had to wonder if he could find some tea leaves growing in the wild. Shun could be fairly thrifty at times and he found that sometimes gathering his own turned out to be better than the store bought.
... It really depended on the area though. He wasn't sure about the tea here.
He'd find out if he found any.
As he wandered on about, he paused as he heard a soft voice, singing somewhere nearby. The place was pretty isolated otherwise, so he hadn't really expected to run into anyone. Glancing about to see where the source of the voice was, he saw a girl sitting in the grass, with some parchment.
She looked... incredibly familiar. In fact, she looked like the girl he had ran into at the wishing well. It looked like she was wearing a different hakama today. Furrowing his brow some, his attention went down to the parchment she had with her. It looked as if she was painting something. Curiosity actually got the better of him and he found himself moving a little closer to see what it was.
If he wasn't mistaken, the style seemed that of sumi-e. Now..that was something he didn't expect to see. He had never seen a sumi-e artist work, but his father had a few paintings. It was interesting to say in the least.

Lattice wasn't aware that she had gotten the attention of someone she'd become a bit enthralled with what she was doing this time allowing the ink to do as it please it almost seemed as if she wasn't in control of her own brush as she moved it about on the parchment. Every now and again she'd resupply the brush with ink and the like before she would resume painting singing through her song all the while.
"Once you get there, the sacred marks you'll bear. They shall be peeled off, if you fail to lie still..." There was a pause in her brush stroke and her eyes widened behind her mask.
Finally she felt the eyes upon her and her head tilted up toward the figure nearby. Was she doing something bad? Shifting a bit she tilted her head down again, "Sorry. Am I in your way?"

The song she sang was.... interesting as well. It wasn't one he was all that familiar with. Even so, he just stood by with his hands in his pockets, silently watching her work skillfully with the brush.
When she realized that he was there, he shook his head quietly.
"No. I was just passing by when I heard someone singing," he said with a shrug before glancing at the painting in progress, "Didn't realize anyone around here did Sumi-e either."

It didn't seem like he was upset by her presence and that was good she seemed to relax a little not certain why she was so paranoid lately. Lattice quietly resumed painting being able to chatter along and art at the same time, "Ah, I am sorry if my singing was horrible. It is not my forte," she replied quietly with a small chuckle.
She shifted her shoulders a little bit, "It is a new hobby of mine, something I wanted to do since I read about it back in my Clan's manor." Lattice replied as she applied a few more strokes to the parchment. Lattice wasn't certain what she would end up with but right now it seemed rather nice. A vaguely humanoid shape bathing in a pool it seemed.
"I didn't anticipate anyone else knowing about this art," she observed curiously.

Shun raised an eyebrow about the singing. It didn't really put him off though the lyrics were a little chilling. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, however. Glancing back at the parchment, he could sort of make out what it was becoming. Though, he figured it wasn't finished yet in any case.
"I've seen a few paintings done in this style," he said impassively, "Though I guess there likely wouldn't be too many around this are that knows much of it."
It wasn't too common after all.
Though, now that he was standing about, he noticed there was a faint familiar fragrance in the air. Pausing, he looked on around, trying to see what the source could be. His nose was nowhere near that of Mitsu's strength so whatever was around, it likely wasn't too far off. That and it probably had a pretty strong scent to begin with.

Lattice nodded slightly in response to the boil's words. She couldn't disagree with it since she had to explain what it was to many of the individuals she had met so far so to have someone that knew what it was right away was a nice surprise. Quietly the picture grew to have some grasses and boulders, a couple of floating leaves carried by a wind.
"Do you know of Hanafuda?" She asked curiously, it never hurt to ask if someone was familiar with something.
She wasn't very aware of what the boil was doing just yet though she did hear a sharp intake of air, "Something smell odd?"

In the meantime, his attention was temporarily diverted from 'Needle' and her artwork as he was still trying to pinpoint the scent. It was incredibly faint, so he wasn't really sure if he was imagining things or whatnot. Though, when she tossed a question at him, Shun looked back to her.
"I know of it yes. Hadn't played it personally," he murmured. He had seen a few people playing it, but never joined in personally.
"Not quite... something familiar's around here..." he uttered.

Lattice was fine with the attention not being focused on her. Quite content with it really it made it easier to work as she pulled the image together as she put it down to the parchment. There was a small pause in her process as the boil said he knew of Hanafuda. That meant he could possibly play Koi-koi with her...
Play it cool. It's okay. Just..
"R..Really? There is a game I like to play with Hanafuda..Koi-koi..It is a fun game." Lattice said softly trying not to show too much excitement.
Lattice blinked behind her mask, "Hmmm? Familiar? Haven't you been here before?"

"Might have seen some play that.." he murmured before looking back down towards the ghost girl, "No.. not this particular area at least. I was just wandering by more or less."
The Reaper closed his eyes to try and figure out what it was exactly. Then, furrowing his brow, he reopened them a few moments later.
"Smells faintly of tea," Shun said. It was too faint for him to tell if it was any good or not, however.

She continued to paint it helped keep her excitement in control for the moment, "Ah, that is good maybe I could teach you how to play one day?" Lattice asked quietly and then fell quiet when the boil spoke more about the area and she responded with only a nod. That made sense.
Lattice looked up at him now setting her brush aside for the moment, "Yes there is a rather big patch growing seemingly wild near here. I was planning to see if I could pick some." The ghoul saw no need to hide the fact that there was a stash of tea leaves nearby.
Tea should be free and given to everyone~!

Shun paused at the offer of the game, not really sure what to say. He generally wasn't one to be playing any games. Lizzy and Xiu had tried to drag him to the arcade once to fix that but that excursion did very little for him as far as 'fun' went. But.. at the very least, the cards were just pictures with no words so he shouldn't have too hard picking it up if it came to it.
"Really.." he said in regards to a large patch growing nearby. 'Needle' must have been around here before then, "Is it any good?"
It was a light assumption that she might have drank some if she knew it was around. Of course, she could just know of it without really taking any.

Lattice wasn't going to force the issue she was happy to let him ponder on it for a bit while she moved to make the finishing touches on her art project. At this point fresh ink was staining her hands and along parts of her arms because she wasn't really paying attention to what she was doing at all. She nodded a bit, "Really." She uttered in reply and then seemed thoughtful at the last part of his question before shrugging.
"I haven't had any from this patch yet. I think they smell quite nice so hopefully that means the taste is just as good," she replied as she finished off the artwork with a signature.
She set her brush aside, "Are you fond of tea?"

A strong scent could very well mean that the tea leaves had a strong flavor as well. Shun would have to give it a shot for sure.
"I drink it pretty regularly," he replied before glancing at her finished art. He noticed that she had gotten ink along her arms, but he didn't really expect an ink painting to be clean work to begin with. She didn't do too bad of a job with her little painting there too, as far as he could tell from where he stood.
As for the tea, when he was at home it was either that or water that he drank. Pop was something he generally only had when eating out and even then, it wasn't that often.
"You know where the patch is exactly then?" he asked. It would save him a bit of trouble of pinpointing the location.

"I do as well, I have a nice little collection of different teas I drink," She said in turn despite him not asking her the same question back at her. It wasn't like it was off topic or anything. Lattice stared down at the painting and decided that for now she was done and she could give the ink some rest and thus started to pack things up into a basket she had brought with her. The trusty old basket that went with her just about everywhere and this same basket would carry the tea leaves she would collect.
Lattice glanced over at him when he asked and she gave a small nod, "It is not too far from where we are right now. I will show you. We can collect some together," simply because she didn't intend on not collecting some herself and thus she invited herself.
She found it first she had some rights to it.
