After the booths for campaigning had happened, Shun hadn't seen much of Xiu at all. Normally he probably wouldn't have put a great deal of thought into it, but she seemed incredibly distressed when she ran off that day. With time passing on, he supposed he should try and see if she was alright.

A part of him wondered if he was getting soft for thinking these sort of things. He never really thought to check up on anyone before for the most part, not unless he had to. That was.. something he wasn't really sure how to feel.

Grabbing his things, he headed out towards the Baku's room to see if she was in. If not, he'd just have to try again some other time.

Once at her door, he paused and lightly knocked onto the door, waiting outside in the meantime. He wasn't even really sure what he was going to say, but he'd be able to tell if she was feeling better.

... well. Maybe. Emotions being a tricky business and all.

While Xiu had not solved her dilemma, she felt better knowing that she had a general idea of what to do now. So long as no more curve balls were thrown at all, then all she had to do was work up the courage to talk to both Demi and Roch and tell them...well, about what was on her mind. However, until she managed to , the Baku was making a conscious effort to distract herself by--surprise surprise--cooking.

Today, she had decided to make something different from usual, recalling what Shun had made for her a long while back. When the reaper in question knocked on the door, she had been in the middle of slicing the sushi rolls into pieces. Wiping her hands on a cloth, Xiu went to answer the door, wondering just who in Halloween would be visiting right now.

Of all the people who she had briefly run through her mind, Shun had actually been pretty far down on her list of possibilities. Eyes widening slightly, she looked up at the reaper in surprise. There was a moment of hesitation, and then she tilted her head with confusion. "A...aniki?"

As the door opened, Shun's attention focused in on the Baku, who seemed a little confused with his presence. Though, he couldn't really blame her.

"Hey," he said quietly while looking over Xiu. She mostly looked surprised and confused more than anything else. In general, it also didn't help that he wasn't really sure what to say or do at this point. Frowning a bit, he paused before speaking up again.

"I just wanted to check up on you," he said finally, managing to figure out the words, "You seemed.. pretty distressed before."

He was...checking up on her? Lately, the reaper seemed to have a way of surprising her. The Baku stood there silently for a moment before she finally smiled, giving a little bob of her head. "Thank you for stopping by, aniki. I'm..." She hesitated. "...Better, now. I...I'm sorry about last time."

It had been pretty embarrassing, now that she thought about it, and she had kind of overreacted about some things. Having time to mull over things alone after she left that day had helped immensely.

Now that Shun had come all this way to visit, Xiu couldn't simply thank him for his concern and have him leave. Turning around, she glanced up quickly at the clock that hung on her wall, and then looked back to her "big brother". "Have you had lunch yet, aniki? I made some sushi, and...well, I might have overdone it a little." She hadn't estimated how many pieces each roll would produce. Not until she had rolled them all up already, that was.

Well, at least she seemed to be feeling better now.

"It might have been a bad decision on my part to drop that information on you then and there," Shun murmured before glancing over towards the counter in the room. He could kind of see the sushi rolls she mentioned just now. It... certainly looked like she had a considerable amount made there.

"I hadn't yet, no," he said quietly. He was a little curious how she made them.

Looking a little embarrassed, Xiu emitted an awkward laugh and clasped her hands together. "It...it was really surprising," She admitted, frowning a little at the memory, "But it was good that you let me know...w-well, early on, and that I didn't find out too late." She wasn't sure what "too late" would be in this case, but the Baku was certain that the situation would have just snowballed with time.

Perking up slightly, she gestured towards the sushi rolls. "If you haven't eaten yet, did you want to join me for lunch? There's uh...definitely more than enough." Xiu sighed as she glanced over towards the counter, and then turned back. "If you give me a little bit, I can finish cutting up all the pieces and then make some tea."

Of course, she kind of felt like she had to make it up to Shun for helping her deal with this whole situation anyways. He had been a good friend to deal with...well, now that she thought about it, she could have been a little hysterical.

"Well.. I suppose that's good then," he murmured, before blinking as she offered him to eat some. Shrugging, he nodded quietly before stepping into her room.

"Sure," he said. He was curious how well of a job she did. Though, of her cooking that he had tried, she wasn't too bad at all. Even so... he probably wouldn't be eating any cookies from her or anyone else for a little while. Not after... the last time. The experience sort of put him off from that particular baked treat for a little while in the least.

"Take your time. No hurry."

"Mmkay, I'll be with you in a sec, then. Um...please take a seat and make yourself comfortable!" She smiled, and then hurried back off into the kitchen area. The first thing she did was fill a kettle with water and toss it onto the stove. While waiting for that to boil, she sliced up all the sushi rolls, laying the colorful pieces out in a neat pattern on a large plate, and then searching for small dishes to use for the soy sauce and the wasabi. By the time she was done, the tea kettle let out a high-pitched squeal to alert her that the water was ready, and she turned her attention to brewing some tea.

...Phew, this was a lot of work!

Meanwhile, while the Baku was running back and forth in the kitchen area, Arashi had poked his head from under the covers of the bed to peek at their new guest. Oh! It was that boil! Upon recognizing Shun, the feline immediately wriggled free from his hiding spot and trotted over to the reaper. Then he sat down and looked up at Shun expectantly.

Pet me. That's what Arashi seemed to be saying.

Nodding silently, Shun moved on in to take a seat in the meantime, waiting patiently while Xiu finished cooking lunch. A bit of movement by his feet caught his attention. Glancing down, he spotted Arashi waiting expectantly. Amused with the look he was receiving, the Reaper carefully went to pick up the cat to place onto his lap, petting him lightly.

Yes, he was wearing dark clothing as usual. And Arashi was very much a white cat.

Nothing a lint roller can't fix in any case.

Purring loudly, Arashi decided that his owner had very good friends. At least, it seemed that most of them were willing to pet him, and that was a perfectly acceptable way of judging people in his opinion. While the feline curled up happily in Shun's lap, Xiu brought out the large plate of sushi and set it down on the table. "I, uh...I hope it's okay. I referenced a lot of books, s-so..." So hopefully she had managed to make something that tasted good. At the very least, the colorful pieces were quite...attractive looking?

Xiu had been about to go back to the kitchen to retrieve everything else when she noticed that her pet was currently sitting in her guest's lap. Sighing, the Baku smiled wryly and gave a little shake of her head. "Tell him if you want him to move, okay aniki?" Shun didn't seem too bothered, but she wasn't sure how comfortable he would be with having the feline there while he was eating.

She rushed back to the kitchen and came back with everything else, including two pairs of chopsticks and two cups of hot tea. Arranging everything carefully, Xiu finally sat down. "...P-please, be my guest?"

"I'm sure they're fine," Shun murmured as he pet Arashi lightly. Once Xiu had finished and brought out the food, he gently picked up the cat to set him down onto the floor.

"Thank you," He said quietly while picking up one set of the chopsticks.

He murmured something that sounded awefully a lot like 'itadakimasu' under his breath before taking one piece of sushi to try without soy sauce.

"Not bad," he commented before continuing on, "You enjoy cooking don't you?"

Xiu looked fairly nervous when Shun picked up the first piece to try. She watched him uncertainly, and then glanced towards the plate of sushi. If she had messed this up, what was she going to do with all of this? In hindsight, she really should have been much more careful in measuring her ingredients.

Fortunately, Shun's response was a...a...positive one? It was reassuring to know that the sushi wasn't disgusting, at least. Relaxing, Xiu tried a small one for herself, immediately brightening up when she finished swallowing the piece. "I didn't do as badly as I thought!" They were edible, and were...pretty good, at least!

"I enjoy cooking very much," The Baku nodded her head in confirmation, and then emitted a little sigh. "It was one of the things I was brought up doing."

Taking another piece of sushi, Shun quietly ate it before taking a drink of some green tea. For a first attempt, Xiu really didn't do too bad of a job with this. He had to imagine after a few more tries, she'd make some pretty damn good sushi.

"I see," he replied while he continued to eat. As he did, he thought back to his original reason for coming here. He sort of had an answer, but he was wanting to know how she was going to deal with her little problem.

"Also.. you said you've figured things out?"
PostPosted: Sat Sep 24, 2011 2:37 pm

The sudden question brought tears to Xiu's eyes--no, wait, that was the wasabi. Xiu held up to indicate that she couldn't answer quite yet, clutching her hand over her mouth and her nose as she waited for the sensation to fade, tears forming at the corners of her eyes. Just when she thought that she was starting to get used to wasabi, she had mixed a little too much in with her soy sauce.

Swiping at her eyes, the Baku quickly took a sip of her tea and sighed with relief. Looking up at Shun then, she gave a small nod of her head. "Y-yes, I mean...after thinking about what you and some of the others said, I realized that..." She hesitated, "...I'm not really ready for a relationship right now, I don't think." Hadn't this whole situation just proved that she wasn't mature enough to deal with anything beyond simple friendship right now?

"I just...have to figure out how to tell them."

For a moment, Shun thought that he might have said something wrong. He was having some trouble figuring out what that might have been, but he realized that the tears weren't emotional ones. Well... were they? The Reaper couldn't really tell these things right now.

He took her words into consideration as he ate quietly, nodding slowly when she finished speaking.

"Not a bad decision. From what I can tell.. these things are highly complicated and confusing," he frowned. He was still struggling a little with his own feelings after all.

"Just say to them what you just told me," he said, "It's straightforward. No need to fluff up something like that."

Sipping his tea, he carefully placed the cup back down before adding, "If they care, then they should understand. Simple as that."
