The Engraver wandered into the maul once again aiming to try and get to know the layout of the place all on her own rather than depending upon the kindness of someone else or trying to drag a friend with her each time. Lattice wanted to be more independent and she was tired of relying on others just to be her eyes. She had a nose, ears, and she had a sense of touch surely through these senses she could figure out what store was where and how to get to it so long as she always had a starting point.
This was her starting point right here.
Minimally she could see - at best of times it was always just vague shapes without color if there was no ink, she could sense light in a way but it wasn't really any major help when it came to reading or looking around. She paused in the maul's entry before she started forward a bit quietly trying to take in as many landmarks as she could comfortably make out.

Against Herryk's better judgement, he'd been spending more and more time in the maul. Honestly it wasn't his most favorite place to be, not after the bad experiences he'd had while buying clothes here. It seemed like he always ran into boils and ghouls that kind of patted him on the back after dressing him in horrible outfits before sending him on his way while telling him he looked great.
He never looked great.
Idly scratching his chest, Herryk squinted into one of the stores. Everything seemed too small and too tight and too... creaky. Shaking his head, Herryk spun around and nearly smashed into a petite ghoul. Instinctively Herryk grope-grabbed the ghoul so that she didn't careen to the floor.
"Sorry! Herryk is sorry!"

Walking along and gazing around for things she could easily remember she wasn't quite paying attention to what was in front of her much to her dismay and the dismay of the person that smashed into her. Instinctively she raised her arms to try and avoid pressing them against the one that had jostled her and soon she felt hands grabbing at her side and shoulder and after a couple of anxiety ridden moments she stilled her eyes wide behind her mask.
Normally she didn't fall so easily but then again she wasn't exactly prepared for the prospect.
Hoping to Jack she didn't peg the poor (large) boil with her needles she replied a quiet, "You're fine...I hope. Thank you for saving me from a fall. You may release me now."

By the grace of Jack her needles missed him by mere chance, though with his luck he half-expected them to skewer him. At her softly spoken words, Herryk immediately released the ghoul. He didn't want her to think he was being forward, or one of those boils that ran into ghouls just so they could cop a feel -- not that there was anything wrong with copping a feel, Herryk just wasn't the type.
"Herryk was busy looking at ill-fitting clothes in this store and was not watching where he was going," the large Draugr explained, taking a step back and eying her needles warily. "Are you okay? Herryk would be happy to help you if you needed it." He rubbed his bristly jaw with a large hand. Yes, he would be happy to help her, but he really wanted to find some clothes that didn't split at the seam or cling to him like a second skin. Most importantly, he wanted some clothes that covered up his backside.
Sometimes he got cold.
"Are you looking for a store? Herryk knows this maul pretty well." The latter part of the sentence was spoken with a melancholy sadness. No, he did not like the fact that he knew the maul like the back of one of his giant hands.

Not that Lattice might have realized he was trying to cop a feel if he was that way. She pretty much assumed that everyone ran on an honor system of 'no inappropriate touching ever'. Gladly this boil seemed to run by this honor system. When he released her she quietly straightened herself for a moment and quietly listened to his words.
"Herryk...is your name?" She asked politely. Lattice didn't wish to make assumptions on his name just yet. The Engraver tilted her head at his question and then offer, "I am alright, thank you. I am just trying to get to know the maul better so I can get around easier..."
Maybe this was a mistake to go on her own, obviously this was a sign.
"I...I would like it if you could show me around a little. I've been in the maul before but I didn't take the time to get to know where everything is. Maybe I can help you find clothes that suit you better?" Lattice offered quietly. Not that she knew anything about clothing, what she currently wore was what she always wore she had many variations of it.

Herryk looked embarrassed as he shifted on his feet.
"Yes, I am Herryk," he said softly, splaying his palm across his chest. He always forgot to introduce himself and it made him feel a little foolish. Clearing his throat, Herryk barged onward.
"Herryk would be happy to show you around in exchange for help finding clothes. These maul shops like to dress Herryk in too-tight clothes and tell Herryk that he looks good, but this is not the case. Herryk does not want to walk around like a fancy boil and Herryk certainly does not want to wear clothes that are going to rip if he bends over." A dark scowl thundered across his face, brows lowering in annoyance.
"This maul is a terrible place," Herryk confided in the ghoul before glancing around and leaning closer as if about to impart a most crucial secret, "filled with terrible lies." That being said, Herryk straightened and peered around before clapping his hands together abruptly.
"Now, where does..." he frowned and looked annoyed at himself once more. "Herryk apologizes. What is your name?"

She didn't seem to notice his embarrassment and discomfort for the moment though she was staring at him quietly as he did indeed affirm his name was Herryk, "It sounds like a good strong name, pleased to meet you."
There was a small smile on her lips when he agreed to help her and she remained silent as he accounted to her the tales of horror he had experienced while at the maul her brow furrowed a bit though it was unseen due to the fact that her mask covered a majority of her face. "I see that does sound horrible. I..."
Then he confided in her the 'secret' and she paused a little bit only startling when he suddenly clapped his hands. Oh dear. It was almost as if she was waking up from a daze or at least a horrible nightmare.
"...I should apologize as well. It was rude of me to not tell you my name straight away," she'd gotten caught up in the foul tales of the maul and what it had done to the large boil, "my name is Lattice. I would just simply like to look around we can kill two skitters with one stone by simply starting with a clothing shop you wish to visit?"

Herryk couldn't fight the urge to grin like a loon when she mentioned that his name was good and strong. Good and strong, just like Herryk. "Herryk is pleased to meet you too, Lattice. Unfortunately Herryk knows this maul very well and none of these stores have clothes that fit Herryk very well." His voice turned sad, almost downtrodden, when he continued, "Herryk feels like he is just going to wear his loincloth and fur boots since they fit him." Shrugging off his upset, Herryk turned his attention back to Lattice again.
"Instead of looking at clothes, perhaps Herryk can take Lattice around the maul so that she can ..." he was going to say 'look at stuff' but Herryk was pretty sure that one needed eyeballs in order to check things out. "...touch things," he finished weakly.

Lattice felt an odd sense of empathy for the poor large figure near her. He sounded so upset over not having suitable clothes! She let out a soft hum, "Ever thought about trying to find a seamstress or tailor that can sew you clothes that would actually fit?" She asked quietly. Lattice had a friend that made clothes but she wasn't sure if it applied to large boils named Herryk as well. Still it was a good suggestion to make she felt.
She reached out and moved to place a hand on his arm somewhat preemptively so that they could start moving through the maul together, "I can see things just not in good detail," Lattice replied after noting the weak way he had finished. "If it has ink on it then I can see the ink perfectly."
The Engraver was not bothered explaining her sight even if it seemed out of nowhere she simply didn't wish for the larger boil to feel guilt over her ... poor vision.

A seamstress? No, Herryk had never given any thought to a seamstress. "Herryk does not think there is a seamstress in this maul. Herryk is very sure that this maul is full of only terrible things," his voice turned sad. It really did upset him that he could not find clothes that fit, but after today he was just going to stick to his loincloth. It was comfortable enough and really he didn't get any stranger looks than he did when he waltzed around wearing too-tight clothes.
"Can Lattice see what Herryk wears," he asked idly as they walked through the maul at a slow pace. He really was curious. "Herryk thinks his clothes have no ink on them." He really wanted her to see what he wore, and while he waited for her to answer he gave thought to what he could do to show her if she could not see his clothing.

Lattice nodded quietly, "I imagine not but I do happen to know of one and she goes to the Academy," she replied quietly, "So if you attend there you wouldn't have to look very far. She is very kind but I do not know if she makes boil's clothing but it'd be something to ask her for sure." She quietly patted the larger boil's arm from where she was holding onto - it was an awkward gesture of comfort.
She blinked behind her mask and she shifted her shoulders, "I can kind of see the shapes of them like something is draping down amongst your waist for example but I cannot see the details of it," she replied quietly. Not to mention that his shoulders looked a bit off but again she figured that was yet more parts of his costume.
The ghoul, thankfully, didn't use the term 'dress'.

"Lattice knows a seamstress!" This was said with great gusto, not really posed as a question but stated in excitement, instead. "Herryk attends the Academy. It is.. very interesting," he said weakly, exhaling with a soft 'heh' as if the use of the word interesting was a very, very large understatement.
"Herryk will show Lattice what he wears," he said with a slightly mournful tone, slipping the engraver's hand from his forearm to his stomach -- if she allowed, of course. His intent would be to slide her palm down his stomach to his belt so that she could get the general jist of his clothes, or lack thereof.
If she had not pulled away at that point, Herryk would have continued onward. "Do you think that Lattice's seamstress-friend will help Herryk with some better clothes?" Still lightly gripping her wrist, he moved her hand from his belt, up his chest and to the clasps of his fur cape. "There is my cape."
Probably the most awkward part of all was that Herryk did not see this as even remotely inappropriate. In his mind he was just showing a new potential friend his woeful lack of clothes.

"I attend there too," she replied with a small chuckle, "I agree it is very interesting so far, but there are many types of people there." Lattice enjoyed talking to Herryk he was very easy to talk to and it was just something about his manner of speech that quite simply was endearing to her. It might be how he referred to himself in third person or it was just that he didn't try to pretend to talk any other way. He was just Herryk. "I will gladly introduce you to my friend. I am very sure she will help you."
At his words she tilted her head a bit and let her guide his hands her palm slipping over the surface of his abs noting that it was very muscular - she was impressed even if just on a purely aesthetic standpoint. She let her fingertips graze over his belt and was seemingly unafraid or at least she quite obviously trusted him not to take things on a perverse route.
She blinked at the feeling of his clasps under her fingertip and this time she took matters into her own hand when she felt something furry and moved to pet at his cape's fur, "Soft," she murmured almost entranced. This part of his outfit seemed to interest her a lot!
Others walked by and gawked at their rather supposedly indecent looking display but she didn't notice them right now she was petting Herryk's shoulder. Then she seemed to recall the real reason for all this and blinked up toward his face, "Yes I definitely think she would," she reaffirmed.

"Herryk would be most thankful for introductions to Lattice's seamstress friend," Herryk said solemnly, idly watching the engraver's fingers brush over the fur of his cape. He didn't stop her, actually enjoying the expression that was on her face. She really seemed to be enjoying the softness of his cape.
Herryk didn't pay any attention to the strangers that meandered by and oogled the pair -- Lattice held all of his attention. "It is a very soft cape, yes," he agreed with a smile on his face, unclasping the garment before carefully swinging it around so that he could place it on Lattice's shoulders. It would likely engulf her.
"It is comfortable," he added, directing her hands to the runestones that decorated the front of the cape. "These are Herryk's runes. Their meaning, Herryk does not know," this was said softly, almost sadly, "but Herryk is convinced they mean something." Shrugging, Herryk reached for her hand once more, intent on showing her the rest of the maul if she so desired.

Lattice nodded as she kept petting the furred cape with a small blissful smile on her lips, "I will send a note for you and you can come visit or we can meet somewhere," she replied almost sounding rather dreamy. She really, really, really liked this cape. It was soft and it felt nice under her fingertips and...
She was only slightly aware of the voice talking to her and suddenly the soft furr was gone from her fingertips and she ended up touching at his shoulder while he wrapped the cape around her. Her eyes widened behind her mask and her lips parted in awe. Quite easily it engulfed her and she loved it. Adored it. She wanted to keep it forever. That he did this spoke volumes to her. Volumes. Especially since she didn't ask him to though in all likelihood she was going to fairly soon.
Lattice let him direct her hands to touch the runes and she blinked a bit, "M..Maybe I can help you find out. I like learning new things and researching," she said softly, it was obvious that she was very moved by his gesture to let her wear this very soft and comfortable cape. She let him take her hand and ready to follow him again. "Thank you Herryk~," she said quietly as she started to move forward again.
She met so many nice boils so far!
