The morning sun was just warming up, sending her rays down on the grass, just springing to life, occasionally tossing little droplets of water as it woke up. The trees at the edge of the field sparkled with more, dislodged when one of the early squirrels or the birds would jar a branch, sending little mini rainbows to dispense about the grass near them before the dewdrops landed, scattering others like them.
The breeze was exceedingly gentle, this morning, brushing on fur and manes and pushing the sunlight's warmth around, until it fell on the sharp rust-orange coat of a mare that had been waiting for it, pretending to sleep for nearly an hour now. Efforts finally rewarded, the mare stretched out in the grass, knocking those dewdrops loose from every which way as she jarred the grass and rolled in it, exposing her only-slightly-lighter belly to the sun's morning rays to soak them up.
Like seaweed her mane and tail threaded through the grass beneath her, and her hooves curled like paperclips while the odd mare lay in the sun. She wouldn't get up until a few minutes of this rendered her whole coat chilled enough with the dew that any real sunning was impossible until the sun was higher, at which point she rolled to her hooves again, peering around before climbing to straighten her legs once more. "There's a clover patch around here somewhere... I know it." She muttered, sniffing at the grass to try to catch the scent, now.

Shilo was sulking as he'd been doing much these days. His talk with the kelpie stallion had only served to trouble his mind more. This walk with his daughter was something he needed. Something to take his mind from the mare that he sought. Only one thing still troubled him... Had the stallion been right in his assumption? Did he truly love Ali and just not see it for himself? Shaking his head, he stopped and looked back for his daughter as he reached the edge of the trees. Idonea was silently arguing with her raccoon companion as she came into view of her father. The jingle of her bell was oddly the only sound from her to accompany the large mare's hoof falls aside from the mischievous giggles of her companion. Sighing, she gave her father a look and nuzzled him as she got closer. The loss of her hearing as a foal had helped her to become fairly well at reading the body language of others and she could see he was still deeply troubled. "Still not seen her?" She was large like her father who was even large for a draft, her guess it was why most often confused her to be a stallion from behind.Binky hopped from Idonea's back to Shilo's and lounged in his shaggy mane eying Idonea carefully as she fell silent. She knew that Idonea worried about her father.

Vei's bright colors made a sharp contrast both to her mane above, her tail behind, and the grasses below. So, when she looked up and spotted the blindingly-colored raccoon, she somehow felt... overlooked... That she hadn't been addressed yet.
Somehow, it still hurt, but she could remedy that.
Clover forgotten, the mare began to sidel closer, maintaining a silence of her own until she was close enough to track... what existed of a conversation... Or at least spot the body motions easier. "Well, hello... Big ones, aren't you?" Comparatively, Vei was just smaller than the average mare of her own breed, and had to raise her maw to look the pair in the eyes from the short distance she had maintained. "Talkative bunch, aren't you? Would you care for some breakfast?"
The fact that Idonea was deaf had completely escaped the mare, given that deafness was difficult to track without getting to know the owner.

Shilo was about to answer his daughter before he heard another speak. His ears lifting, the sulky expression faded slightly and was replaced by a small smile. "We come from rather large stock..." He chuckled a bit of his old humor peeking through as he eyes the orange mare through the shaggy forelock that seemed to curtain his eyes from view. Looking back at his daughter, he nodded sending her signals with his ears before nodding in the direction of the other mare had she not seen her.
Binky squealed with delight before plunking the paci in her mouth and fluttering her little wings she fluttered right down from her perch to inspect the mare gleefully. "You comes to feed Binky's pets?"
Idonea caught her father's look and knew the answer before her attention was pulled towards the mare joining them. Nodding her head, she offered a lopsided grin in greeting and wiggled her ears slightly. It'd been a habit she'd picked up from her days before meeting Cedric. Back then she'd have been content o speak little to anyone outside of her family and honorary family but Cedric had changed all that.. "Good morning!" She blurted out at a louder than intended octave. "Oops" She whispered.

The mare hummed at the stallion's comment, a soft chuckle hiding on her lips. "I can see that. It looks good on you." She hummed. Her eyes raised a bit when he turned to the mare at his side, the motion of his ears enough of a distraction to draw them away.
For the most part, she ignored the raccoon, unsure exactly what he meant, anyways. He was, instead, answered by the dropping of a muddy red-brown raven with horns and dangly strings draped about them, teeth curled in amongst them. Once settled, the bird looked up at the mare, who paid him little mind, and shrugged, looking down at the coon again before dragging his wing along the raccoon's fur. "Is this what you meant?" The crow warbled lowly. "Or were you looking for actual food?"
Vei ignored the bird's antics, her eyes trailing over tot he mare's ears as they wiggled the same as Shilo's had, her brow tilted. Her own ears fell only slightly when the mare's voice was louder than it should have been. Whirlwind of response over, she let her ears fall forward again, humming. "Well, aren't you an interesting little thing, hmm?" She cooed, the lilt on her voice one of intrigue. Her ear twitched with her next words. "Can't hear very well?" She murmured, peering up at the massive mare as though the ear twitch alone would give away the question.

Shilo chuckled lightly. "Yes.. My family all seems to carry the bulky build.. same with my brother." He grinned once more. He'd been happy to see his brother and really. the mention of him had him thinking he needed to take time to talk to Alban once more and possibly... discuss the matter at hand. Shaking the thought from his mind, he nodded in responce as he eyed the crow and the raccoon for a moment before answering in his daughter's stead. "She's deaf.. She lost her hearing as a foal one night when she wandered off from her mother and I."
Binko giggled impishly and pulled her paci from her mouth before setting to inspect the crow. " Binky meant if your big pet was offering to feed BInky's big pets.." She pointed up at Shilo and Idonea so as to drive home that she considered them her pets.
Idonea nodded as she watched her father's mouth noting that he'd responded for her. "It's all well though.. Hearing loss isn't the end of the world." She snickered lightly. Her voice had finally come to be in a more level tone though it was still slightly thick and deep for a mare's voice, much more like her father's molasses quality to it only more feminine.

Vei hummed, sidling a little closer to the stallion. "Hmm... Well... It does look good on you... Both of you, really." She kept the motions of her maw gentle to numb their readability, in effect dropping her voice an octave as her eyes narrowed just softly, enough to trim her vision and accent her eyelashes. "Would you care for breakfast, then? I saw some sweet-grass and clover just a little bit ago that looked delectable."
The raven's brow lifted with a light chuckle. "Pets, hmm?" He grinned snarkily up at the brief, foul glare the mare shot him. "I've never thought of them that way, but there is some merit to the nicknames, isn't there?" The orange mare gave a snort before returning to her game, wandering up alongside the stallion and nudging his shoulder as if to guide him, following it with a more pronounced invitation, leaning so the mare could see it. "It certainly would appear she has intent to do just that." His own voice dropped a bit, to keep the conversation more to the pair of familiars. "I'd wager her thoughts aren't all as chivalrous as they appear to be. They rarely are."

Shilo chuckled lightly though he gracefully and gentlemanly stepped aside when she got too close to him for comfort. Many a beating had come from his mother with such a motion and this was a precaution he'd kept with just on the off handed chance. Her touching him some how just felt wrong with Ali on his mind. "Breakfast would be nice.. I'm sure Idonea and I would be glad to join you... I'm Shilo by the way."
Binky snorted with laughter at the row ruffling her bat like wings and idly fluffing up her tail. "She should be careful.. Nea's known for being blunt and butting those who seem to ..... overstep their boundaries.. Her father's been pining over another so I'm sure she'd be quick to bring a halt to anything.... Unchivalrous... that's directed towards her father." She squeaked with another laugh.
Nea narrowed her eyes watching the other mare's body language. Something was off about this one.. and at that moment.. thought she wasn't liking the view of things.. she wasn't going to pass up breakfast and jump to conclusions. Something told her that this mare had less than honorable intentions the way she lowered her lashes at her father.. subtle flirting that it seemed.. Shaking her head, she stopped herself from snorting at how dense her father really was with such actions and hoped he just wouldn't get himself into to much trouble. "Father.. After breakfast.. We should continue our search for Ali.. and perhaps Uncle Alban too."

Vei hummed, noting the motion and taking it more as a brush-off than the actual intent behind it. The little pink rat's announcement that he was interested in another didn't help, and sort of soured her expression for the briefest of moments, before she started accross the small field, her tail flicking idly behind her. "My name's Vei'Ran." Her mind flitted off to some minorly downtrodden addition to the statement, but kept it to herself, trotting over to that patch of sweets once she'd remembered exactly where it was and nodding towards it, aiming the motion particularly at Idonea, perhaps meant as a peace offering.
The raven was literally rolling on the ground after the nearly-palpable attitude change, laughs coming out in boisterous squawks. It took him a few moments to right himself and wipe a tear from his eye, as he turned to the raccoon. "That was so priceless..." He squawked at the rodent, chuckling. "Are you hungry, too? There's a berry bush not far from here. Nice, plump little raspberries."

Shilo gave a saddened smile as he stepped around Binky, following the mare. "Pleasure meeting you." The more solemn look perked up as he drew near the sweet grass, his daughter following behind him. "You'll have to forgive Binky.. She sometimes picks up on Idonea's subtle changes in body language."
Nea Followed, watching Vei closely before offering a pleasant smile and accepting the grass offered. Still she waited, ever watching to see the mare's next move. It was.. becoming apparent to her that she'd have to watch this mare around her father. Since he'd become so.. emotionally distraught.. she'd taken to being more protective of her father.
Binky perked at the mention of berries. "Will there be feesh to? Binky's fluffy pet Nea loves feesh... just like Binky." She grinned and listened for the sound of nearby water.

(XD Shenka is supposed to be female, but I've been consistantly reporting her presence male, I think. XD Mebbe I should change the gender, then.)
Vei smiled softly, waiting for Shilo and Nea to begin their feeding before she'd begin plucking up stems of her own to munch on, favoring the clover in an obvious way. "Hmm? Binky?" She glanced towards the rodent and the raven, letting the look linger for a moment before shrugging and dropping her head again. "It is not the rat who earned the dirty look." She paused, glancing at the little pink beast again. "Raccoon... Excuse me." Spoken dismissively, of course, as though the apology were unmeant and less than felt.
The raven hummed. "I believe I saw a stream nearby. Perhaps I could catch you something there. Shall I show you to the berries, in the meantime, and I will look into the fish?"

Shilo chuckled some. "Binky's very.. impish.. like small twolegger...you know.. the young ones." He chuckled. "I think she's sometimes..too much to handle.. But Nea does well with it most days..." He shook his head some and nibbled at the grass, his short tail bobbing slightly.
Nea Still watched closely. Her ears flicked back at the mention of Binky and her being a 'rat'. Snorting slightly, she side stepped close to her father, though she made no effort to stop the conversation as she nibbled away on the grass happily. Her own thoughts were slightly occupied with things for the moment as she kept patient.
Binky chuckled some. "It is well.. the berries will do for now.. Perhaps later we can go get some fish." She fluttered her wings enough that she hovered off the ground for a moment.

She hummed, lifting her head from the grass softly. "Hmm? Oh, the ra-... -Ccoon..." She corrected herself. Rodents obviously weren't very high on her totem pole. She shrugged a little and returned to her grasses. "I'm not at all worried about it." She murmured, pondering the clover for a moment before moving off from it and into the sweet grass. "Actually, I know nothing of the two-leggers. I generally keep my distance, when possible. Should I not?"
Shen chuckled at the little raccoon's attempt at flight, giving a gentle bow and waving a wing off towards the forest a bit, down an easy path to travel. "To the berries, then. You may not have me for fish later, are you sure?"

Shilo chuckled lightly once more lifting his head and shaking the forelock from his eyes. "Well.. I've seen the two-leggers from afar though my herd leader swears they're rather nice.." This was a welcome topic to keep his mind distracted. "She's rather.. accepting of others though.. nearly too nice for her own good you could argue but it suits her.."
Nea looked back taking a moment to make sure Binky was minding herself. Happy to see her companion was behaving herself and not stiring up mischief, she went back to munching.
Binky smirked. "Binky Feeshes good on her own.." She stood walking on her hind paws rubbing her front together in an almost manacle way.. there was just something impish about her look when she thought about catching fish.

Vei hummed as she listened, revelling in the brute's voice and finding her mind wishing he wasn't bogged down with emotions and... Children... She stifled the soft shudder that crawled up her spine at the thought. "Sounds... Nice..." She muttered.
The Raven found himself chuckling at the coon's antics. "That may be true, but don't you ever want your food delivered? I'm sure it might be faster for me to catch them than for you, after all." He was fluttering overhead, the walk and hop not his preference, and flexed his claws. "I'm sure your wings must be... Interesting... To use, with your shape, hmm?"
