okay, so I'm a Muslim.. And it's against our religion to be homosexual... And if we are, there will be punishments.. I'd love to be in a relationship, but i can't.. And I really don't want to try going for hell. Any ideas about what should I do?

Okay, so I can't read a lick of the language and I really don't know anything about the religion. So, please tell me word for word (well as close as you can translated) what it says in your holy text about homosexuality.
Meanings can be changed depending on who's translating the meaning.

Pent and Ten Okay, so I can't read a lick of the language and I really don't know anything about the religion. So, please tell me word for word (well as close as you can translated) what it says in your holy text about homosexuality. Meanings can be changed depending on who's translating the meaning. Well it said something about that homosexuality was becoming an epidemic, and this is the time of adam and eve.... And that god sent down a prophet to guide people the straight way.. And it says that an angel was sent down also, and it struck people, and they turned blind... and something about a woman turning into baked clay, which I'm guessing is lava? And after that, punishment, and that people shouldn't disrupt the cycle of man women and baby.. So yeah, I tried my best, it really doesn't go into detail though.. Sorry):

Epidemic doesn't always mean disease, only rapidly spreading
And looking at how quickly the populaton grows on this planet, you're not really taking away from the amount of humans reproducing, so you're not disrupting it, you're just not adding to it
and not to play devils advocit but... you said it was against to be gay, not it was against it to do gay things (such as be in a relationship)

Eh, I wouldn't worry about it unless your family is wicked super-duper strict and believe you must follow everything the Quaran says. I'm Roman Catholic and bisexual (but not a lot of people know that) and when I tell them I'm Catholic and support gay rights, nobody gives me any crap for it. Truth is, I live in a really anti-descrimination state, (Massachusetts if you were wondering) so I'm pretty lucky there. The Catholic officials also say homosexuality is a no-no, but luckily, my church is pretty cool about it and they never mention it. That way, neither the pro-LGBT rights people or the con-LGBT rights people can b***h about anything. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about being a gay Muslim because plenty of LGBT people have religions, and things got better for them. And so what? That's ONE passage in the Quaran! The Quaran is huge, probably three times the size of the Torah! There's one passage in there that comdemns homosexuality, the same amount of passaages in the Bible that condemn homsexuality. Both of the passages are very vague, short, and are never mentioned again. By the way, one of my best friends is Muslim, she gets along great with a bisexual friend of ours, and she even wore a purple hijab on the day where we were invited to wear purple for all of the victims of homophobia who killed themselves. And she's a pretty devout Muslim, too! She wears a hijab every day, never shows anything past her ankles, and is always talking to her fellow Muslim friends about the services at the Mosque. My point is, you can be religious and a LGBT person at the same time. Some may doubt it, but it is possible. Hope I helped!

Hm.. This is a toughie. I'm a gay Christian and I just accept both parts of my life. There's no way of telling how God will judge you and so I think you should just live your life as righteously but also as happily as you can and only time will tell. I'm not sure of the conditions there are in going to hell in Islam, but in Christianity, all it asks is that you believe and have faith in Jesus and you're set. And I'm stickin to it.

Well...I don't really know much about the Quran, so I'm not sure I can really offer much advice. If it's like the Bible, then it's likely been revised and edited multiple times, as times and languages have changed. English alone has changed a great deal in only 500 years, after all. So it's possible that the prohibition against homosexuality is open to interpretation.
I don't know how your family might feel about that, though. Is this something you could talk to your family about, or would they be upset? If not, then perhaps an imam?
There are plenty of people who are Christian who are gay, and truly believe that it's not against their religion (myself included), despite the fact that many other Christians see homosexual relationships as a sin. So, hopefully there is also a gay muslim community, somewhere.

Maybe you should watch A Jihad for Love on Netflix or Gay Muslims. Just be careful because if your parents pay for the account- they can see what you have been watching.

Esiris Maybe you should watch A Jihad for Love on Netflix or Gay Muslims. Just be careful because if your parents pay for the account- they can see what you have been watching. Ah, yes. This reminds me of another documentary, "For the Bible Tells Me So," same premicise, different religion. it basically explores the lives of gay, lesbian, or bi Christian teens and how they deal with being Christian while being non-straight. And by the way, if the 1st poster is reading, mostly all religions say homosexuality is wrong. Truth is, maybe the people we pray to in our religion are perfect (or close to it) our clergies aren't. They screw up sometimes. There was a pope during the Renaissance who hired his relatives for high-ranking positions in the church and fathered many children with rich noblewomen. Does he sound perfect? Ha, far from it! Anyway, did you know that during the 1950s, a lot of religions (including the church) preached that women should stay home, take care of the children, make dinner, clean, bang their husbands, and repeat. rofl We don't think that now, do we? And the Crusades... how is fighting and killing people supposed to take away our sins and bring glory and honor? Honestly, I'd think that would just take it away, considering the fact that I know both Islam and Christianity are very pacifistic religions. My point is, a lot of stuff that religion preaches has to do what is valued or not valued in society over time. I don't think the descrimination towards the LGBT community in religions won't last very long. Things are starting to change-- for example, I believe you can get homosexually married in a church nowadays, and more and more places are legalizing gay marriage. The anti-gay religions will catch up one day. So there is hope. blaugh

Sunshine Peach-Heart And by the way, if the 1st poster is reading, mostly all religions say homosexuality is wrong. Most Abrahamic religious denominations may say that- but there's a lot more religions out there and in the different pagan religions alone there are tons that don't say that.

this is pretty tough and i've been hearing many stories about people being in certain religions and hearing that it's wrong for them to be gay and in my church and others i've heard them say things like it's "evil" and needs to be "cured" when really there is no "cure" and i am very open minded person and don't have any problems with people who are gay and i have nothing against any religions but there comes a time when i start to question some of the things so what i can think to say is just try to live the happiest you can i wish i could think of something better...but i think being happy is the most important thing to someone

I think you should ask yourself a few questions.... like are you hiding your sexuality for you family or for yourself? Are you truly scared of the punishments your religion claims for such a sin, or are you really just fearful of the judgment from your parents and friends. One thing I've thought about in the past is: is it better to lie to everyone about your sexuality or not lie about it and it still be a sin. Since I'm a Christian, all sins are equal, so I decided I didn't want to keep lying about it.
(btw I'm a lesbian girl, just messing with the gender bender junk to unlock an achievement sweatdrop )
