Atanas is my character. :3 It was another normal day as any other in Aldervale Castle, with sunshine and birds singing. Atanas, one of the Elvish servants, got out of bed unusually early and was dressed in a pair of work clothes that were given him. He had been in the castle since his birth, and he was looked down on by everyone, because he was an elf. There wasn't a day he was called by name. He was always called 'Elf', or 'Knife-ears'. But he wouldn't let those 'names' define him. He was Atanas, and he was a thankful servant to the royal family of Aldervale. He headed out into the courtyard, where his workplaces were. He was a jack of all trades: Blacksmith, wood-cutter, a squire for the knights. He even cooked occasionally. Today, he was to cut wood, as winter was approaching and they needed wood for the fires. He took an axe and sharpened the blade, and began splitting logs.

The frivolous young princess had finally come of age... And is worse than ever! Before, throwing tantrums were at the end of her list but now, she is beginning to learn more and worse habits as she comes to realize the importance of her position. There is no stopping her since the servants are too frightened to speak up and her parents are always 'too busy with other matters' to deal with her. She's grown to be quite the snobby elitist with a downright bitchy attitude. She gets what she wants when she wants, pronto! And if she doesn't, well... Fear for your job or even worse, your life. Deep down, the loneliness of being a kingdom's beloved princess has pushed her to be cold even though she originally did not intend to be. Perhaps a companion is all she ever really wanted but her pride keeps her from reaching out. Is there no one to save her from herself? A shining ray of hope for the young princess quickly learning that love is demanded and not freely given out? She is ℇℓℓɩʓℯℓℓℯ, princess of the thriving kingdom of Aldervale.
((OOC: Without further ado~ A first post! Ta da! Sawwy, if it's... err... messy. I haven't played a 'new' girl in such a long time and my RPing might be messy since I've gotten quite rusty playing as a girl. So, I took the time to make a character that won't go against my principles of hate towards 'annoying and generic' Mary Sues but will actually be quite fun to play. This is what I came up with~ :3))

Atanas kept at his thankless chore for several hours that morning, stopping occasionally, and only to wipe the sweat from his brow. When he had cut a sufficient amount of logs, loaded several splits onto a pack he had made and began making his rounds throughout the castle, starting with the Noble's Quarters.
After splitting several logs, he loaded them up onto a special pack he had made to carry the lumber throughout the castle. In each quarter, he would knock on a door and wait for a response. They usually went like this:
"Uh? Who's there?"
"A servant of the King, sir. I come with your lumber for the evening."
Then the door would open and whatever smile that the guest wore would vanish, and would instead be replaced with a scowl. "Put it over there, knife-ears." They'd say, gesturing to a corner by the fireplace.

The same went for the young princess. She opened the door early in the morning, still wearing her night gown with her hair down. She had opened the door with a smile on her face saying, "Yes, who is it?" Then, her smile turned into a terrible-looking pout when she saw Atanas standing there with lumber. "Elf..." She muttered to herself before she officially spoke to him saying, "Go right ahead. And hurry!" She looked like she slept well but her attitude towards him was as though she had awoken on the wrong side of the bed to the buzzing of an annoying, insignificant fly.

Atanas gave a nod and simply put the lumber in the corner, as he was instructed. "Will that be all, madam?" He asked, turning sharp on his heels to face her. "Or may I take my leave?" He was one of the few servants who would dare talk to her; the others would have just come in, dropped off the lumber, and scurried away like a tiny, scared mouse. Atanas, on the other hand, would at least try and be a man and walk with his head high, as if he were honored to serve her and her family (which he was).

"I would appreciate it if you left now" Ellizelle said coldly before sitting in front of her dressing mirror, brushing her blonde hair before she would place it in a neat bun decorated with braids as she normally would. "Oh... And call in the ladies-in-waiting. I need someone to brush my hair!" She said before grumbling about the servants who did their best to meet her outrageous expectations of them. "Those maids are always late and their chambers are down in the servants' quarters so they always make me start of the morning in a sour mood." She admitted, continuing to stroke her hair with the brush. She looked at the elf after she finished speaking and said, "Well? Go now!" Of course, she still found it irritating that the servants who are supposed to care for her every meet and bend at her every whim came late although her instructions were for them not to knock or wake her up in the morning.

Atanas gave a nod and a bow, then turned and left her alone. She seemed extra... what was the word he was looking for? Demanding, maybe. She seemed extra demanding today. He proceeded to do the rest of his rounds, before heading to the Servants Quarters. "Her lady requests the presence of her maids in her chambers immediately!" He called down the hall, before leaving the quarters and returning to the chopping block. He turned to the sound and examined the large clock tower that stood in the middle of Aldervale. He loved that clock, he had no idea why. Maybe it was how tall it stood, or how it had been there for at least a century and still worked, despite storms and wars. It rang its brassy tones twelve times... The afternoon just started.

Ellizelle promptly scolded the ladies-in-waiting once they came in and they worked extra fast to tie those blonde locks into a neat bun and clip her purple crown to the top of her head. They also scrambled to prepare the royal garments, namely: a purple dress with black lace trimmings, purple heels with pretty bows, and a short purple cloak for harsh weather. The princess got ready and went down to the dining hall to eat. She strutted with her chin up, not paying attention to every person who bows as she made her way downstairs.

Atanas watched the Princess strut down a hall through one of the windows from his spot down on the ground and sneered at her in disgust. He knew that she had somewhat of a right to act that way, she was the princess after all. But it still didn't change that she was like an ignorant peacock. He shook his head and returned to work, determined to keep his misdemeanor to a minimum.

Ellizelle seated herself daintily with her hands on her lap seated next to the king, her father. The food hadn't been brought yet. They were engaged in conversation when the he king made mention of her harsh treatment of servants and told her she must live as one for a week.
The princess stood up brashly with her hands on the table saying in a loud, annoying tone, "Father, you can't do that! Mother, do something!!" The queen hid her face behind her fan and refused to speak to her daughter having talked about it previously with the king. "I've warned you before and you didn't listen." The king said calmly.
"Grr...!! Daddy!" Ellizelle complained in a loud voice probably heard throughout that part of the castle. "You sleep in the servants' quarters starting tonight." The king said. Then, Ellizelle stormed out of the hall, stomping her feet. How could they do this to me? I'm the PRINCESS! She thought.

(( Sweetness! ))
Word was getting around the castle fast regarding the Princess's punishment, and it wasn't long before Atanas heard it. In one way, he saw it coming. In another way, he didn't expect it at all. He wasn't sure whether to pump his fist in victory or not. He was on his way to the Dining Hall as the Princess stormed towards him. He stood aside, but did not bow. After all, she was not the Princess anymore. Not today. He wondered how she might react.

Ellizelle looked at the defiant Atanas who did not bow before her. Her temper was raging. "You there! Why aren't you bowing??!!" She raised her hand as though to hit him but she put it back down swiftly, trembling as she clenched her fists and grit her teeth. "How dare they?" She said in a grumbling low whisper. Before long, the tears flooded out of her eyes bursting to get out. Who knew she had them?

Atanas was at another crossroads: What to do? Should he encourage her, or belittle her because she deserved it? He approached her and gave a low bow. "M'lady, whatever is the matter? I didn't realize it was you, I would have bowed swiftly if I had known. You remember me, don't you? ...No, of course you don't. You have so many servants that it gets hard to keep track of, am I correct?" He asked. "Or you have so many servants that you don't really care?" He guessed, and that was probably the correct answer. He shrugged. "Well, I suppose you have better things to do than talk to an elf, so I'll be off then... actually, why aren't you at the Dining Hall? Don't you usually take your meal at this time?"
Then he noticed something... her eyes. They seemed to be holding back something. "...Is something wrong?"

"Insects" Ellizelle mumbled unconsciously when the elf talked about servants. She looked up when he said he was about to leave and then wiped her eyes dry. "It's nothing!!" She shouted, sobbing and trembling before she continued in a softer tone, "Wait, you! What's your name?"

Atanas stopped dead in his tracks and turned to face her. "My name? It's uh... It's Atanas, m'lady." He replied, swallowing. What happened? Was he in trouble? "I've faithfully served here for many years, since my birth." He stopped speaking before he started to ramble; she most likely had better things to do. But the fact that she stopped him and asked him a question about himself specifically struck him as odd.
