User ImageBashira was not quite sure why she was awake so early in the morning, the sun hadn’t even completely awoken yet. The sky was an interesting mixture of red, orange, and gold colors. She had to admit, even if she wasn’t particularly happy with being up so early, that the world was truly beautiful at this stage of the day.

The creatures that rose at night were going to sleep, but everyone else wasn’t awake yet. It was a peaceful and quiet part of the very start of the morning. If only the rest of the day could be like this. It would only be a matter of time before the chaos of the day began.

Looking up into the vast sky, she could still see a hint of the moon being faded out by the brightness of the sun. Smiling lightly, she thought of all of the old tales that her mother told her about the sun and the moon when she had been very small. It had been so long ago that she just barely remembered them at times like this. When it had only been her, her mother, the sun, and the moon.

Æthon had never been an early raiser. His activities usually took him until late into the night and as such, he preferred to sleep through the morning hours. Yet last night had been unusual in that nothing had happened, so he was up earlier than he normally would have been, and for once, he didn't mind. The morning was bright and clear and calm... and after his recent adventures with a band of juvenile hyenas... quite and calm were much appreciated. Why hadn't the scavengers been able to leave him alone? Dumb creatures.

Shaking the dew from his coat he resumed his path, padding along, headed in no particular direction, just following the motion of his paws. After a while he stopped and blinked into the growing brightness. Was that someone up ahead...? A cheetahess from the looks of it. Pleased he had found company that would be more refined (he hoped) than the pack of semi-wild beasts of yesterday, he quickened his pace, a warm friendly smile on his muzzle.

Drifting away deep in her thoughts, she did not immediately detect the presence of another nearby. It was pleasantly warm this time of the morning, before the burning sun made it’s presence to the world. However, her momentary state of thoughtless daydreaming came to an abrupt end as she finally heard the other approaching her.

Pulling back the edges of her mouth in a sneer at her own carelessness, she quirked her ears back to listen more closely. How could she let anyone get that close to her without her noticing? It would seem that her training was finally starting to wear off, both to her pleasure and annoyance.

While it made for good protection, having honed her senses to near perfection, she also hated being so jumpy and on edge at every flash of movement or the slightest noise. Whoever it was didn’t seem like they were trying to rush her or hide their steps, they sounded......deliberate.

Slowly turning, she was a little take aback by the sight of a male cheetah with a pleasant smile approaching her. Relaxing a bit, she stood fully to face him in curiosity, and spoke cautiously as he got close, “Ah...hello.”

Yes indeed... she was much preferable to his last experience, graceful with that pretty grey coat like the first light of dawn as it glazed the mountain's snow-capped peaks. Pleased with his find he dipped his body into smooth bow of greeting, tail curling high behind him.

"Well met madam. On such a beautiful morning as this I did not expect to find myself in the presence of someone such as yourself. A very nice surprise if I may say." Tilting his head, having straightened and now stood tall and relaxed as if nothing worried him, the male cheetah gave her another dazzling smile. "My name is Æthon. And it is a great pleasure to make your acquaintance....." He paused, waiting for her to supply him with her name.

Bashira slowly raised her brows at the newcomer. What a curious male, she had never been approached in such a way. Having spent her later youth on the run and hiding when she wasn't running, and her adulthood up until recently avoiding everyone, she didn't actually have much of the social ettique that most learned as cubs.

She had decided that it was time for her to meet people instead of running from them. Mimicking his actions, she tilted her head down in what she hoped was a semblance of a greeting, of all the things that had happened to her, she had never been bowed to before.

"I am Bashira," she said and quickly added, "It is nice to meet you....Æthon." Tilting her head to the side slightly, she commented,"Usually there isn't anyone else up at this time of the morning."

"Bashira" He purred her name, letting the sounds roll off his tongue as if testing them. His smile lit his expression as he chuckled. "Then clearly, you don't usually meet those like me. I am always up early, it is the best part of the day, Bashira." He spoke her name with a warm, lilting accent, so it sounded more like 'Ba-shar-ah'. "It is always a pleasure to find another who appreciates the world when it is fresh. It is rare I find those like us while wandering."

Curling his tail about his hind quarters the handsome male settled on his rear, ears pricked, expression attentive." May I enquire as to what brings you all the way out here? There is not a pride nor a herd for some distance." After all, he should know, he came out here for that exact reason.. so the damnable hyenas wouldn't follow him.

Bashira felt a small smile grow on her face in amusement. As odd as the situation was for her, she found herself intrigued by him. She was not normally up at this time of the day as she tended to move later in the evening and into the night, but she decided to keep that to herself.

It might have sounded odd to someone else. Gazing at the world around her through her golden eyes, she replied,“It is quiet at this time. I enjoy it.” It was also dangerous. The world was silent and anything could happen without anyone knowing because everyone was still caught in their dreams.

She had learned that doing anything that most weren’t made you stick out, and that included being up when everyone else wasn’t. Meeting Æthon;s gaze at his question, she answered,“I am traveling. I am looking for....something. I do not belong anywhere,” which wasn’t true, but she’d leap off the nearest cliff before she went back there.

“I suppose I am looking for some place to be.”

The smile pleased him. She was a pretty thing and her smile warmed the air around her. He enjoyed pretty things and she was certainly enjoyable to watch. Her voice was pretty too, gentle and warm, unlike those horrid baying hyenas.

"That it is, peaceful." He agreed with his own warm smile. He did not see danger in the world, only challenges to be met and overcome. He loved to test himself against the world and anything fate could throw at him. So far he had come out of most of them on top, and escaped the remaining few with his hide intact, which he also counted as a victory.

Tilting his head as she looked back at him, he considered her words thoughtfully. Dark eyes offering understanding. "I think every single one of us is searching for something throughout their lives... a home, a mate, a family... Some seek excitement, others seek a challenge. There is no shame in looking for something you desire." Smiling softly he seems to be thinking of his own life.

Inwardly, she couldn’t believe how she was spilling her guts to some guy that she’d never met before. On the other hand, it was nice to say what she’d been thinking. She was taking risks, she knew, being open to those she didn’t know. It felt nice though, it felt normal.

Her breathe had quickened in a light pant as a result of the heat that had slowly surrounded them. Glancing up without hurting her eyes, she saw that the sun had fully risen and was moving toward the center of the sky. What am I doing here chatting? I need to get moving,” she thought to herself.

Standing to her feet she sighed and said, “I should be going,” she said softly, “I need to move as much as I can while the sun is up.” She listened to his words and paused, before asking, “Tell me, do you have someplace to be?”

He too was feeling the heat, his own maw held partly open as he breathed, letting the still slightly cool air rush over his pallet. It was rather unseemly to stick his tongue out while speaking so refrained, after all he liked her and didn't want to ruin any good impressions he had made.

At her question he glanced about then shook his head. "No, actually... I was simply leaving one area but have no particular destination in mind." Pausing he looked at her a moment, a half smile curling across his maw. "Would you be amiable to some company for a while?"

Bashira was taken aback and simply stared at him for a while. Company? Was he suggesting that he wanted to travel with her? She had been on her own for so long, that the concept of having a companion, even temporarily, was beyond her.

However, the thought sounded nice, and maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Besides, she might enjoy being around the other for a while. It would be a big change from what she was normally used to, but it could be nice. "Alright," she began slowly, and with more conviction she said,"That sounds nice."

With that, she headed off into the morning sun with her new companion at her side. As they continued to speak, she felt a spark of excitment, one that she hadn't felt in a long time.
