Yareha was one frustrated lion. Here he went to all this work to find some potential mates (or dates, at least) for his sister Aysu...and she was already pregnant by some rogue! Talk about ungrateful. Especially since he thought she'd actually like Andama a fair bit. Gidja...well, the white lion just really wanted to see Aysu take that one down a few notches. Just 'cause he was a Lord didn't mean Yareha had any respect for him.

Which reminded him of the bigger situation going on. He liked Mazin, and liked the idea of the slave being the next King. Why should his lowly birth make such a difference?

Yareha was fuming to himself, wandering through the pride lands, looking for one of his brothers to commiserate with.

Koray, indifferent to his brother's plight, his sister's pregnancy, or the tensions within his family, had spent much of his time attending to his own needs. For one, the rank of a hunter was far from good enough for him. His grandfather was a lord! He had noble blood in his veins and it was going to waste. With his lineage, his influence, and his looks, he would be a fine prize for any lady! However- said ladies were proving very difficult to convince. Time and again, his compliments fell on deaf ears, his graceful movements went over-looked, and any attempts at good graces were often met with a sharp word, an insult, or the back of a paw.

It was discouraging. Obviously, the females of this pride were delusional.

Koray presently sat stretched out on a large rock, picking at his claws and inspecting them with a critical set of eyes. One had splintered- of all things to happen.

There! Finally! Koray was sitting on a rock doing...well, it didn't matter what he was doing, it mattered that Yareha had found him before totally losing his temper. The white lion came up and sat next to the black one before finally speaking.

"Can you believe what our sister's done?" he asked at last, voice cracking on the last word. He himself still couldn't believe the utter ruin of his own plans.

Koray raised a brow as he was approached by a brooding sibling and soon joined up on his boulder. Slowly lowering his paw and correcting his posture, the young lion turned his head and arched a thin brow.

"....I have no idea what it is you are talking about. Perhaps if you tell me what's going on, I can tell you whether or not I believe it." He tossed a bit of mane out of his eyes with all the grace of a young lord. "I have been occupied with pressing business."

Pressing business? Yeah right. But, Yareha didn't want to antagonize any kind of sympathetic ear, so he swalllowed the retort. He might not care for the airs his brother put on, especially not after dealing with Gidja so recently (and wasn't that part of this mess?) but they were still family.

"She went and got herself knocked up by some rogue," the white lion spat. "And after all the trouble I went to trying to introduce her to some nice lions from the pride!" That was what stuck in his craw most, that he'd spent hours trying to find eligible young males that Aysu might find attractive. The news of her pregnancy was like a slap in his face.

"Augh! A rogue!" The lion tossed his head back and wrinkled his nose in disgust. It was almost better that she'd allowed a slave to impregnate her. A rogue came from Mkodi knew where! He could have been related to some other pride, perhaps one of those filthy things from the desert or those psychotic ones claiming to be demonic. The thought had him shuddering.

"I cannot believe that. Her children will disgrace our beautiful line! What are we going to do? I can't have it getting around that my sister's tainted our line!"

"There's nothing we can do about it," Yareha pointed out sourly. "She announced it in front of practically the entire pride." It was nice that Koray agreed with him, it made venting that much easier.

Then the white lion remembered that Koray had been paying absolutely no attention for the past half-moon. "She pretty much had to announce it to lend support to the Queen - since Mitsuki stepped down, there's no Midwife right now." Yareha was fully in favor of finding a new Midwife - fast. He might be severely disappointed in his sister, but that didn't mean he wanted her to die in childbirth.

"She didn't!" He looked over to his sibling, searching for any sign of deception. Finding none, the lion moaned and brought his face down into his paws. "She did... oh how could she do this to us!? Now what will the pride thing of us!? Feeble minded, disgraceful, and oblivious! That's what."

He took a deep breath and slowly looked over to his brother. "...this will make my own mate hunt a little difficult. I refuse to stay in this station."

There was just something about Koray's reaction. Possibly the self-centeredness, possibly how over the top it was, but it really made Yareha want to laugh. However if he did that, he'd lose his sympathetic listener. It was tough, but the white lion managed to strangle his giggles into a quick coughing fit.

"Ahem. Sorry," he apologized once he'd regained his composure. "I don't know how it's going to affect our family, honestly," he replied. "There's just so much going on right now - people disappearing, people stepping down or being demoted - I have absolutely no idea how one thing is going to affect another."

But being able to have this conversation, even given how exasperated Koray could make him, was certainly helping Yareha to feel better. Maybe it was his brother's despair of ever finding a mate in a higher class that the white lion couldn't help finding comical. Whatever the cause, he was in a much better mood now.

Koray was beside himself with outrage. His sister would dare soil their family by taking some...some...vagabond!? What if the cubs turned out ugly? Hideous!? What would that say about their proud lineage? Their grandfather would find out and disown them... disown HIM. He'd loose all his chances at turning the right eyes in his direction. Oh the humanity...

"You can't fix everyone's problems. You shouldn't try to." He stood himself up and sucked in a deep breath. "But we can try to fix our own problems. I need to go and mend our reputation."

Yareha was remembering now why he'd enjoyed picking on Koray so much when they were little. Probably not a good thing to remind his brother of right now though.

"Good luck," he wished the black lion honestly. "I hope it works out." He yawned and shook himself. "I should probably get going, lots to do tomorrow."

He'd certainly done what he'd come to do - complain about Aysu. And it really had made him feel better...even if that was simply because he'd gotten Koray all riled up in his stead.

"Oh you had better hope it works out! For your sake as well as my own." Koray dropped down from the boulder, raised his paw for a short inspection, and sighed. He still had that split claw he had to attend to but there was always something. he could never just be left in peace to attend to himself. How could anyone possibly understand?

"Get some rest. If you worry over this, you'll start getting a gray muzzle before your time."

With that, and a flick of his tail, Koray trotted himself away. The quicker he managed to smooth this whole thing over, the better.
