Wolframite was wandering through the Negaverse headquarters, finding a room that had some furniture so he could rest a moment. He had spent an exhausting trip in the Rift and felt drained. He needed a moment to collect himself before he could even think about teleporting back home.

As it was, compared to the Rift, the Negaverse somehow seemed far more inviting. It didn't tax a person just by standing in it's gaping hallways or had as many youma slinking about as in the Rift, where you always, ALWAYS felt eyes upon you. Still, even though it was dark and cold, the touches gave it a sense of warmth and life that was more alluring and alive than that of the howling ghosts of the past that called in the hallway to the Rift or the crumbled ruins that spoke of past failures.

It was really a big downer. Sure, it was a reminder, but it was depressing.

Finding a dark crystal bench to rest on, Wolframite breathed out and looked about the room he was in. It was then that he noticed something moving.

Great. A tiny youma. Just what he needed. He just hoped it didn't bite his ankles like a few of them liked to do. Just because his boots were thick did not mean they were chew toys.

Hiro had been resting his eyes for a moment - meditating, honestly, it was very important to de-stress. He hadn't been sleeping at all, really! Anyway, so he'd been meditating, right? And then someone entered the empty room, shattering his nap concentration. His ears tilted back and he rose to his feet and stretched.

Clearly, whoever it was disturbing him had no understanding of the importance of down-time. Hiro was a busy cat - it was just him and Dahlia looking after the entire Negaverse. Hiro had to juggle spying on the enemy, leveling up the corrupted senshi, training an assortment of non-senshi officers and looking after his Alkaid. It wasn't as if Hiro got much time off as it was. Even the empty room he'd chosen after his last consultation and information exchange with Zinkenite wasn't safe.

So it was a cranky kitty who stalked over to the figure who'd just taken a seat on one of the crystal benches growing up out of the floor. Short, young, and looking very shaken up. Teal eye narrowed, Hiro stared at the kid. "You lost or something? Aren't you lot meant to be assigned to a General?"

If some dumb-a** General had lost their newbie down here, Hiro was going to be having words with Tanzanite about letting trash slip through her normally-rigorous promotion screening.

He had been watching the "youma" move about and as it approached, was prepared to shoo it away or get up and a move in order to keep it from chewing on him. While some of the youma might want to gnaw on him, after Tanzanite's lesson, he didn't feel right kicking them even if they sometimes seemed to deserve it. It just seemed word of youma mouth might travel and he'd have more trouble than he needed when being in the Rift.

As it was, in the poor light of the Negaverse, the creature was not a youma at all. In fact, it was the cutest cat he had seen, and he sat up straighter when seeing it. Wolframite had only ever met Cookie, a senshi cat who he had broken their leg, and Grendel, a Nega cat who was far less scarce nowadays but Ladon had loved to have a talk to. Guardian cats, on their side, was something Wolframite always got excited about. They were TALKING cats and all of them seemed very smart. It was like talking to your childhood movie character. Every time one spoke, no matter the seriousness of the situation, he felt like kneeling down and petting it while trying to control the impulse to just sputter nonsense.

This cat he had only seen faintly here and there, skirting his line of vision during meetings - which wasn't hard considering he only had half of it and the cat was small. What did surprise him was this cat had a scar over his eye. It made him wonder who in their right mind would take out a cat's eye. At the question, he looked about as if he wasn't sure if the cat hadn't noticed and then, without sarcasm, corrected the cat. "I am a general." He guessed it wasn't obvious. Shame.

He couldn't force down the compulsion to smile, and he leaned down to look at the cat. "I've never met you before. My name is Wolframite." And then he looked back to the spot where the cat had been and where he was now. "Is this your room? I'm sorry."

"Huh." Hiro peered the boy - young man, he corrected himself - and checked the energy levels again. Huh. He blinked. "So you are."

Hiro sat back on his haunches. Well, that was an embarrasing little mix-up. And to think Hiro thought himself observant. Unfortunately, felines had no equivalent for the human wish to sink into the floor and disappear - they just relied on the tried-and-true 'nothing just happened, you saw and remember nothing' nonchalance. Hiro would know next time to check before speaking, but for now, it was as though that part of the conversation never happened. Really. (Hiro wondered if you could lean to hypnotise people using only one eye... worth looking into.)

"No, we haven't met." Hiro would definitely have remembered the small General with the eyepatch. A very dashing accessory, Hiro thought. He'd look into one himself, but it gave him horrible visions of young children chasing after 'pirate cat' and wanting to play dress-ups. A shudder wracked his body.

"I'm Masahiro. Hiro, if you like." Most people did. He didn't offer a paw - he wasn't some dog. Hiro glanced around the room they were currently in. "Well, it's mine right now, I suppose. Or was, until you woke me." Ears flattened to Hiro's head. "From my meditation, I mean. I wasn't sleeping. I don't nap in the job."

One teal eye bored into Wolframite's. Not sleeping. Got it? Damn, that hypnotism idea was looking better and better all the time...

Hiro didn't need to use Jedi mind tricks on the General. Wolframite took a guardian cat's word. The fact it could even TALK made him believe a lot of what they said. He still was trying to figure out how cat mouths could produce human syllables, and every time he watched one talk, all he could think was how Disney would make a fortune with real talking cats as this was better than any computer-altered talking animal. It still had the ridiculously cute factor to it.

"Sorry. I didn't know this was a place you meditated. The Negaverse....doesn't have too many labels.....and a lot of rooms are usually vacant. I never known which ones are claimed." The hallways went on forever and ever and the place wasn't practically inviting any sense. Cold and dark with the light of torches. It had a very dungeon feel to it. "I wouldn't think this place was relaxing." He looked around, and a moment, it went quiet. There was a distant growl of some youma far in the distance. "I guess it's peaceful?" He said, looking back to Hiro.

"Oh, I forgot. General Wolframite." He offered his hand and then curled his fingers and pulled it back. Ohhh, that was right. No thumbs. "It's nice to meet you, Masahiro. I don't know too many guardians in the Negaverse. I once spoke to Grendel, but...well, I haven't seen him too often." He worried for that cat.

Hiro gave a feline grin, showing off his shiny (and pointy) teeth. "I know. That's why I like these places." Vacant rooms were great. And occasionally, people would wander in and start having 'secret' conversations without noticing the curled up cat in the shadows. Hiro had to say that was often worth the inconvenience of being disturbed.

Wolframite did have a point about the Negaverse not being the most relaxing of places. It was no sun-dappled grassy patch beneath a tree, that was for sure. But sometimes you made do with what you had. "I can't always be bothered dropping back into the city for a rest between jobs or reports," Hiro explained. "Even a short break down here is better than going without."

Ears pricked forward as the General gave his name. Oh yes, Hiro had heard of Wolframite. He'd arrived in Destiny City just in time for the 'rescue' of Wolframite, Tanzanite and several other Negaverse officers. It hadn't seemed right to go hunting down those recovering just to satisfy his curiosity, back then... and then life had interferred, as it does, and Hiro was busy with his lovely minions, cough, trainees. Trainees, he meant to say.

"Good to meet you, too." Hiro gave a nod of his head in place of a handshake. The hugs were enough of a concession, he couldn't have these humans thinking he was some trained pet of theirs, after all. "Grendel... and Caine, yes? I've heard of them, but the only other Mauvian on our side I've seen tail or whisker of has been Dahlia."

Hiro wasn't sure what had happened to the first two Mauvians. Oh well, the Negaverse had him now. It could relax knowing it was in safer paws.

"Oh. You wouldn't prefer to just rest in the sun and enjoy a warm, comfortable place to sleep?" He said, thinking of Hiro napping on a porch in the sun or on a bed somewhere, basking in the warmth of a warm day and doing as any cat might enjoy. Or human for that matter.

He looked around again. Compared to a warm windowsill, this place was gloomy. "I couldn't sleep here. There are no windows...and it's dark...." It wasn't that. It was enclosed, and it was the presence of the Negaverse and it's select energy that kept Wolframite from going insane down here. Without it, he would feel trapped and possibly start feeling panicked.

He tried not to think of this place like that. "They seem to keep you busy. What jobs and reports do they give you, if I may ask?" He was an officer after all, and if he could help the poor ca- - uh, Maauuvvian with some tasks, he would.

Hiro blinked. "Of course," he said, head tilting to one side. Silly human boy. General. Who didn't love napping in a warm sunbeam? Hiro's tail twitched lazilly, eye half-lidded at the thought of it. Giving himself a shake to snap out of it, Hiro added, "But when I only have a short break, I'll take what rest I can get. Better than sleeping through my next meeting because I was too comfortable."

It was possible he'd be able to escape punishment on account of acting cute. Maybe. But Hiro wasn't going to risk it. He had serious cat duties. See this face? Serious cat face.

"Do you not like the dark?" Hiro asked. He'd heard that some young humans were scared of it, thinking there was monsters hiding there. He supposed that the Negaverse soldiers, more than most, knew exactly what kind of monsters there were to fear. Perhaps it wasn't surprising.

The feline chuckled when Wolframite asked about the jobs Hiro performed. "Oh, many kinds. I'm quite good at infiltration - I have a number of senshi and even a knight believing I'm on their side. And I hear and see things that a human officer couldn't..." Hiro performed a slink in and out of the shadows for Wolframite. Most people didn't look for pets before having a secret conversation, not even senshi.

Wolframite frowned, brow creasing as he rubbed one shoulder and looked around. "Not so much this dark...you can feel the Negaverse here....just.....it's rather cramped in some of the hallways, closed off, and very dark..." It brought back nightmares of his cell, and he sometimes felt he had to teleport quickly out of the headquarters into an open area in DC just to breath and not get dizzy or raving mad. "...I guess I am a little." He was rather silly to admit that to a cat.

His attention returned to Hiro, who explained his many duties and tactics, all of which distracted the General and made him beam, giving a small clap at the demonstration. "That's amazing. You must be a great actor. I'm very impressed. I'm sure if you had a rank, you'd be a general cat." Though he wasn't sure if guardian cats ever did get ranks. He couldn't well imagine saluting a cat, though he did respect the one before him - even if his wibble paws were adorable.

However, a quick sneeze, and a covering of his nose reminded him to keep his distance and refuse any kitty cuddling urges. "Excuse me." He apologized. "Do you get to do anything else? I hope someone comes by to give you something to eat. I'd hate for you to stay here and someone to forget about your lunches."
