After collecting Roch’s number from Mot, Hel went ahead and made it a point to arrange an audition for FMC.
She’d never done this kind of thing before! Trying out for music and singing…back at home, singing was just an everyday thing. All her sisters did it, her mother did it, and even her father did it too. After meeting the music loving reaper at Amrita’s booth though, she’d thought she’d give it a try at least! Hel was always eager to dip her fingers into different pies…
So now, she was leaning against the wall, next to the door that lead into the FMC room, waiting for Roch. The reaper tapped her fingers against the wall as she waited, humming to herself.

Roch headed down the hall slowly, not even bothering to cover his mouth as he yawned. It'd been a busy day, he wasn't quite sure what it had been busy with, there had been some sort of war in his bedroom when he woke up, and he still couldn't figure out who had started it, but it'd been busy.
His little sprite was sitting, pouting angrily, in the collar of his vest, her arms crossed over her chest and a full out brooding going on. The little will 'o the wisp was more likely to catch his room on fire than any of the other involved parties, so he'd decided she needed to get out of the room for a bit.
"Yo," he said as he caught sight of Hel. "You got music for an accompanist? I can try and pull it off on my guitar."

“Greetings!” Hel returned, pushing herself off of the wall once Roch drew closer.
At his question, the ghoul blinked. “Uh…” She gave a small shake of her head. “I’m afraid I do not, friend…” She grinned a bit sheepishly at him, and rubbed her chin. “Maybe we could try and think of something we both know…? Or I can go without.” The valkyrie placed her hands on her hips now, her gaze flicking down to the sprite taking refuge on his vest with interest while she waited.

"Either's fine with me," Roch said, heading into the empty classroom. It looked kind of strange inside, carpets hanging from the walls, a mix of chairs and beanbags littering the ground, and a folding table, left folded, sitting on the ground in front of two of the beanbags. Roch headed for one of the beanbags behind the table, dropping down lazily on top of it.
"I've heard you sing once," he said, ignoring the little sprite that was now tugging on his earring, or apparently ignoring her. After a second he reached up, gently undoing her from his cross earring. "You're good. But I guess that's expected. Tell me about what you like to sing best."

“Excellent.” Hel murmured, following into the room after the reaper. She took a moment to take in the environment, noting the carpets on the walls (maybe to reduce noise?), and the chairs littering the place. Huh! Did all music rooms look like this? She entertained the thought briefly before following Roch’s example and taking a seat in the beanbag chair across from him.
Oooh, this was interesting!
The valkyrie grinned at the compliment, and seemed thoughtful for a moment. What did she like to sing? She actually had to think about that. “…Honestly friend? I just like singing in general. I like to hear and learn new things…but I suppose…if one asked what I sing most often…” Here she paused again. “…Ballads, lullabies…melancholy songs…” She rubbed the back of her neck. Geeze, when she said that out loud, that really seemed opposite of her personality! “Coming here though, I’m hearing new things, and like I said, I’m eager to learn!” Hel assured.

"A depressing song, huh?" Roch said. "Somehow I've been stuck on those, too, lately," he admitted. "Then, okay, what's your range? Are you a soprano, a second soprano, alto? What?" he asked.
"I'll admit, I don't know nearly as much about singing as I do about playing a guitar--then again, I'll admit I don't know as much about ANYTHING as I do about playing a guitar," he said. "So sing a song. Any song that you can think of. Oh, and you don't got ice powers, do you?"

“ There is something comforting about them…” Hel murmured before moving away from the topic. “ Ah…range? Soprano, I believe.” She wasn’t all too familiar with the proper musical terms, so hopefully she was on track! The reaper chuckled when Roch went on his spiel about his guitar, and gave a firm nod of her head. “ Fair enough, friend. Though you could have fooled me when how well you handled yourself on both guitar playing and singing at Amrita’s and Miss Riley’s booths.” Hel trailed off, thinking of a proper song to sing for her audition, and blinked at his next question. “ Uh…no, no ice powers here…may I inquire as to why, later?” The ghoul tapped her fingers on her knees for a moment before sitting up straighter, having decided on a song. She hummed the tune for a few moments, before singing a ballad that wasn’t terribly depressing.

He closed his eyes as he listened, his head nodding slightly with the song. A little smile pulled at his lips as he took in her range. She was on key. Perfect pitch, wide range, but, hell, she was a Valkyrie, of course she had perfect pitch and wide range.
He waited until she was finished and opened his eyes. "I'm gonna ask you somethin' that might seem a little embarrassing," he said. "But I've found out that some people can't, so I gotta check. Can you read music?"

Roch seemed pleased, and that was good enough for her! After she was finished, the ghoul sat on the edge of the bean bag chair, her hands resting on her knees. What would happen now, she wondered.
At his newest question, the reaper grinned a bit sheepishly once more. “Uh…I’m afraid I don’t. Every song I know has been passed down through word of mouth or the uh…radio.” Sheesh, she hated admitting that she couldn’t do something, but at the same time, she wasn’t about to lie, either. That’d just be a bad show on her part! “I will gladly learn, though!” She amended, eager to make up for her lack of knowledge.

"It's fine," Roch said. "Hell, Danny's the exact same way. But if we're gonna put together a working band, I gotta get everyone to where they can read it," he said, sighing slightly. "You mind joining her for when I teach her? Usually I'd say there's a class for that, but I ain't that impressed with the music teacher so far, then again, I'm an a** when it comes to music, so that might be my fault."
He didn't think it would take her long at all to learn to read it, anyways. All he would have to do is let her hear it and see it at the same time a few times.
Jackdammit, she WAS a prodigy.

”Ah, understood.” The reaper replied with a firm nod of her head. No, that definitely made sense! It was like an army going into battle without all knowing what the plan was, and that was unforgivable! Yes…this was a great way to look at it! A music army, with Roch as the commanding general, and she needed to be an excellent warrior, no matter what! “Danny?” Hel gave a shake of her head. “I don’t mind at all, friend, whatever you think works best. I’ll take your word for it.” She grinned at the reaper.
“Just let me know when! Aside from Fitness club and Brute ball practice, I am free.”

"Danny, she's a fire demon, my best pal, and the vice president of the club," Roch summed up with a little grin. "She's kind of hard to deal with, but I think you two should do fine. As long as you don't have ice powers, that is."
He held out his hand, summoning his guitar and reaching up to stop his sprite from tugging on his earring again. "Riiiiifff, give me a break, screechie! I was doing business!" he said to the sprite as he held her in his hand. She pouted at him. "Oh, come on, you're looking like a scareling in front of a new friend," he told her, making her look over at Hel curiously.

“Oh? She’s your best friend?” Hel echoed, pleasantly surprised. “We’re on the Brute Ball team together! She’s very outgoing.” The reaper complimented with a firm nod of her head. “No worries, I’m clear of ice.” The ghoul affirmed, recalling how panicked Danny had been in Savage’s Human Studies class. Ah ha! It all made sense now!
She looked very interested when Roch summoned his guitar, taking a moment to look it over once more since the festival. Oh…now that it was just him and her, she could appreciate his weapon better! It seemed to be bladed. Hel’s attention shifted away from the guitar for now to look at the sprite, to which she gave a grin and a wave of her hand. “Hello there!”

The sprite took to the air, fluttering over to Hel and looking her in the eyes closely, as if evaluating her. Then she flew around the reaper ghoul a few times, before pulling back and staring at her again. Then, one little hand went out, patting Hel on the nose before the sprite headed right back to Roch's collar.
Roch didn't seem to notice, he was tuning his guitar. "She's in a bit of a mood today," he told the ghoul. "She got in a fight with the fish again, as far as I can tell."

Hel was intrigued when the sprite came over to her, nearly going cross eyed as she stared at the small being right in front of her face. She closed one eye as the sprite continued to stare at her, to focus on her better, and then tried following her around but turning her head. The reaper blinked once she was in front of her face again, and after having her nose patted, she wrinkled it, and laughed. “Good to meet you, too!” Hel returned before looking back over at Roch.
“Got into a fight with the fish…?”
