TISHKARI

So...here she was. In Ela'wadiyi lands. As a member. Tishkari was proud of that, especially given the somewhat intense interview she'd been given in response to her stated intention of joining the pride. It made her eventual acceptance that much more valuable. It didn't matter much to Scar that the only rank she could hold was that of a Huntress - she'd been doing it all her life, only now she was contributing to the well-being of the group that was housing and protecting her. It felt...kind of good.

But she was, dare she admit it, lonely. She'd been placed in the Shadow Clan, and, of course, knew absolutely no one. The lioness who'd told her about the pride was in a different clan, so Tishkari didn't even have that vague connection.

So here she was, wandering around the Clan's lands, looking for someone to talk to and trying not to look like she was desperate for some company.

It was a fairly quiet day for the nanny today, most of the cubs Caely had been watching since she'd taken on the important task of cub keeper were already grown enough that they no longer needed her. A sad thing really, she missed seeing their glowing little faces every day and spending time teaching them and playing with them. Hopefully there would be more little ones running around the pride soon. If not by one of the other couples in the pride then maybe.. by Waikiki and herself.

The thought of starting a family with her husband caused the painted female to blush furiously. Glad for the distraction when jade hues spotted an unfamiliar lioness strolling through the home territory of her clan looking a bit--well--lost. H-Hi there! My name is Caelyndei! A-are you new here?

Tishkari stopped at the sound of a voice behind her. Slowly the lioness turned around to see...another lioness. One that she thought she'd seen once or twice in brief passing. She hadn't known the other's name. She didn't really know anyone's name. Yet.

"Yes," she responded shortly. "I am new here."

Scar was going to stand there and wait for Caelyndei to respond when she remembered manners. Manners said she should, at the very least, give the other lioness her name. After all, they were in the same pride and the same clan, so it was only courteous. Also, they'd be together for some time yet, and Tishkari didn't think that the clan was so big that she could afford to avoid an individual.

"I'm Tishkari," she added at last.

Jogging to catch up, Cae slowed only once reaching the unfamiliar lioness' side. Examining her lovely fair colored markings against an earthy brown base coat that rivaled her own. She was a pretty stranger and it made the Shadow girl wonder how long she'd been around that Caely hadn't noticed her until now. Tishkari? That's such a pretty name!

Beaming happily, the sheepish mink suddenly offered a somewhat apologetic smile, lowering her eyes. Even if she had been a part of the Ela'wadiyi for some months now, she could still remember what it had been like to first join the pride. The anxiety she had felt. The hope that she would belong and be accepted by her new found kin. Getting settled was always a difficult challenge for new rogues as she had once been. Caelyndei made an effort to go out of her way to greet and familiarize herself with those who joined the pride, whether they were a part of her clan or not. Everyone wanted to feel welcomed! I-I... I'm sorry I hadn't noticed you sooner. I.. ki-kind of try to make it my duty to welcome all the new members. I was a rogue until not to long ago too. So.. I know.. or.. at least I think I know how you must feel. Are you part of the Shadow Clan too?

A slow smile crossed the lioness' face. The other thought her name pretty? That was...pleasant. A good thing. It pleased her. "I'm glad you think so," Scar replied.

Anything else she would've said was overrun by a veritable stampede of words from Caelyndei. The lioness blinked in a half-stunned fashion. She hadn't been overly sociable as a rogue, and hadn't really encountered anyone who could talk so much so fast. It was...different.

"I...am," was the response she managed to get out at last. "It's...an adjustment." After the words left her lips she spared a thought to wonder if the other lioness would actually understand what she was replying to, but the rest of her was torn between letting Caelyndei suck it up and figure it out, or just being too overwhelmed to say anything.

Tishkari appeared.. confused, to say the least. It left the cheerful nanny feeling uncertain of herself. Maybe it was a bad idea to try and welcome new members of the pride if this was how things were going to pan out. She didn't really feel as if she were making a good impression, ears folding delicately against her head as she shrunk a little. Caely wished her mate was here with her. Wai had an easy way about him that seemed to make him immediately likeable and as a result he was a confident sort of male, easy going and slow to excite. So very unlike herself.

S-s-s.... sorry. Stammering awkwardly under the discomfort of Tishkari's lack of response or enthusiasm, Cae's gaze drifted towards the tips of her toes. Of course, naturally, she didn't explain what she was apologizing for. Trying instead to think of something else to say that might give the stranger a chance to speak--instead of listening to her ramble on like a bubble head. Uhm.. d-do.. you like it here, so far.. at least?

The lioness raised an eyebrow. She didn't understand why Caelyndei stuttered so, and had absolutely no idea what the other lioness was apologizing for. It was a pair of habits that would probably get very old very fast. Still, Tishkari supposed that it behooved her to not snap at the other, and that she should be more tolerant in the long run. After all, she'd chosen to be here, and how silly would she look if she wanted to leave the pride already?

She didn't doubt that there would be times when she'd miss the freedom of being on her own, but in her mind, the benefits more than made up for that.

"It's different," Scar answered neutrally. Truth be told, it was all so new that she didn't even know what she thought of the Ela'wadiyi in general or the Shadow Clan in particular yet. It was still so new.

O-oh. Well, that wasn't exactly the answer she was hoping for. Most seemed excited, happy or at least relieved to have finally found a home--or a new home as it was in some cases. This lioness seemed rather indifferent, but maybe she felt conflicted and hadn't had enough time to settle in. Being bombarded with questions probably wasn't going to help any.

Puffing a breath of uncertainty over what to do, Caelyndei thought for a long, quiet moment. This really was turning into an unexpected mess, who knew greeting newcomers would be such a difficult job! Carefully lifting her gaze from the ground, though her head ducked sheepishly, her quiet voice attempted to offer amends. Maybe.. maybe I c-could show you around? Wo-would that be okay?

Maybe she just didn't want to open up to the timid nanny. As sad a thought as that was for Caely. However, there were plenty of others to meet. So maybe, just maybe, Tishkari would hit it off with someone in one of the other clans and she would thusly open up more. Even if she didn't decide to open up to her, it would be good if she got familiar with someone. Maybe then they could help her better settle in and and even... possibly, be happy about joining the Ela'wadiyi.

Scar studied the other lioness quietly. She just didn't understand Caelyndei. The stuttering, the shyness...well, maybe the former was causing the latter. If so, her estimate of the other lioness rose a few notches - it had to take some kind of courage to go up to people when you were embarrassed.

"Yes, that would be helpful," she told the other. She was intrigued, and still learning her way around. At the very least a tour would help her get a better sense of what was where. And perhaps more exposure would help her...like...Caelyndei. Maybe. It was possible.

Delighted simply due to the fact that she wasn't flatly rejected, Caelyndei beamed happily, bobbing her head with an excitable nod. O-o-o-o... okay!

Wincing when her enthusiasm caused her to stammer a little bit more prominently, a sheepish giggle was her attempt to to shake it off. As well as giving her slender frame a literal shake in an attempt to dislodge the awkwardness that was eating at her already frayed nerves. Hopefully things would go a little bit ore smoothly now, though Caely still hoped that they ran into someone she recognized soon in hopes that they might be able to help her with this rather daunting task.

I guess.. we can go visit the Wolf Clan first.. I have a friend there. His name is Svgata! It's this way! Cae explained cheerfully, picking up a slow pace to make sure that Tishkari was following before sliding into a leisurely jog. Praying to herself that the Ela native might be able to help her or at least be whatever it was that Tishkari seemed to be searching for.

Because whatever it was, it certainly didn't seem to be her.
