It's my hope to have a list of contests decided upon early on in the planning process this year! Once the plot is announced and the theme chosen, let's focus on having a number of fun, even quirky, contest ideas that reflect our theme!
We can't forget the traditional contests, however, so while we plan it will be important to note that there will be only three new contests decided on for the room in order to allot fair prize amounts to each one.
Gimme's Flag Design Tektek Contest Avatar Contest Writing Contest Clue Game Scavenger Hunt Joust Tournament (rng)
propose'd Page Contest
lotto
Share or Steal
NOTICE: Each contest proposed should have a title and description. Each contest should have its own post. When discussing a contest, Quote the post smile I will reserve posts to place proposed contests by other members.
To Yay or Neigh a contest, quote the contest.
Thanks!

Art Contest This is self-explanatory with the exception of deadlines for submissions and voting, which are both up for discussion.
I personally prefer to give artists as much time as possible to submit, so I would open this the moment the ball goes live. I would close it the second night (day 2) and voting would begin amongst hosts and co-hosts to be announced day 3.
Voting will be crunched, but even if everyone can manage to appear to at least vote in the thread it will be do-able.
Theme for the art contest will depend on our room plot chosen smile

TekTek Contest Self-explanatory; Each participant is welcome to enter a tektek entry to the contest. Open at the start of the ball, and submission and voting deadlines can correspond with the art contest. However, because voting is done by participants and not ball staff, it will be in an open thread with a poll set up, so the voting will start part-way through day2.
The amendment to the contest outline I suggest is to encourage participants to participate in the rooms while their tektek is on display. I don't think it would be fair to give a prize away to someone who only showed up to drop a tektek link off in a forum and then disappeared.

Avatar Contest Avatar Contest is the best dressed in the room. This is NOT based on who has the most expensive looking avatar, it's who has arrived with the most pleasing avatar according to the room's theme.
I suggest we take screen-shots of avatars and take note of the username and set them up for voting at the same time as the tektek contest, in another thread, by participants and not ball staff. (if you cannot save a screenshot then let me know the page# and username and I will save it for you)

Clue Contest Because Spotted loves mysteries, and I love Spotted, I want to do a clue game. We will all decide on some sort of mystery to be solved (who ate the last cookie from the jar, who stole the Queen's favorite puppy, etc.) and then we will decide on clues for participants to gather.
Clues will be gathered by asking the ball staff questions.
Each ball staff will HAVE TO ANSWER in a certain way. They cannot lie, but they cannot admit guilt either. They CAN attempt to sway suspicion to another ball staff, but they cannot deny an accusation if it is them.
The mystery solver gets a prize, and per mystery solved (we can come up with lots if we each think of 5-10 mysteries) some gold from the guilty party will be submitted to the pot. (a tax or fine for being such a dirty criminal.)
Then the participant with the most mysteries solved will get the jackpot at the end of the ball!

Joust Contest What would be a medieval castle without Knights jousting, I ask you? MADNESS!
To enter the joust, participants must send a trade to the host in charge of the joust (this MUST be a different person from the lotto because otherwise it will be too confusing or difficult if someone enters both.) The trade will contain the fee for the joust, which will gain in cost incrementally as the 'Knights' go up in level in the tournament.
I vill explain 2 u nao:
Joust one. Fee 50g. Unlimited spots for contenders. Each contestant will roll a dice (how many sides to be determined by number of participants [the more 'knights' the higher the dice]) and well will tell them what dice to use BEFORE they roll. The lowest number rolled eliminates a Knight, while the highest number wins 50% of the pot.
Joust two. Fee 100g. ONLY surviving contenders may participate. No new entries or eliminated Knights. Each Knight rolls the dice and this time the TWO lowest numbers are eliminated, highest number wins 50% of the pot.
Joust three. Fee 200g. ONLY surviving contenders may participate. No new entries or eliminated Knights. Roll the dice, the THREE lowest numbers are eliminated, highest number wins 50% of the pot.
And so on. The fee will go up as the number on the dice goes down (according to participants) to a maximum of 1000g and a minimum of the D6. When there's only one more Knight standing he wins the rest of the pot (that is left over from each round.)
