Before a theme is chosen, though, you may want to have an idea of who you would be working with should you be chosen as a co-host, regardless of the theme.
So, henceforth, I shall be known as... Robayn!
Just as the username says. It's fairly short, I trust it'll be remembered.
This will be the second year that I've been a part of the ball on an official basis, the previous years having only attended and participated. Though I did manage to be voted Queen of Hades in the Hades room during year 8, last year I gained much in the way of experience and knowledge in the Wrath room, as Patience, with some very wonderful co-hosts and hosts!
I've had a blast the past few years with the Annual Ball and I plan to continue having fun with it! There's no doubt that something on this scale can be a large task to take on, but with the right people and teamwork great things are possible.
I look forward to working on the tenth year with everyone, new and familiar -- let's make it the best ball yet!

Alright, so while we're at it...
I'm Spottedteddybears (which is a rather long name to type, don't you think?) You can call me Spotted or Teddy,although most people perfer Spotted. Sound really sophisticated... XD
And, like Robayn, this is my second year actually working IN the ball. Last year, I worked with our lovely host in the Wrath room, playing Spite. The past year was just so much fun planning, and then it was amazing wrapping it all up at the end. I'm definitely excited to be a host this year. I'm determined to make this milestone ball the best yet!
I hope you all have a great year, whether or not you decide to apply, or if you get accepted. It's a group project, and I hope you have fun!

List (3) ideas you have for the room, or more: Depending on the theme of the room I think a TekTek or Avatar contest would be good. Their interpretation of the dream/room they're in. If the plot ends up being we have to fight our way out of the dreams, definitely a dice game...maybe against dream monsters or against the co-host themselves? I think our room should be the nightmare or romance dream definitely; I think it would be a lot of fun to have main characters of dreams switch rooms. Such as having the romance couple host the nightmare room and vice versa or something like that. And the Gaians have to help the dreamers get back to their own dreams maybe? I dunno just thoughts. A couple hours a day, as real life allows. I work full time and go to school but if the ball happens in the summer again I will be out of school and can take time off of work ( with no problems ). I do live in the central time zone, but tend to be on in evenings when not working, and all day periodically.
Past Experience with the ball?
Participant ( in contests and a few small bits of RP ) but I was shy.
Experience with events outside of the ball?
But I'm not always shy! I rp in real life all the time ( through Shadowrun and Vampire ), and will periodically pick up rp's through out Gaia. I like to be random and change things up after a couple of days, so I don't have any great examples. ( But I could be consistent with this, the ball was so much fun and so action filled )
How would you describe your RP abilities?
Literate.
Why do you think your a good choice for a co-host?
I am a dedicated, hard, energetic worker. I love to interact with and help people, and don't actually like to be the star of the show; I prefer supporting roles. I think I could help you do great things with this room and would dearly love the chance to help out.
How can you contribute to our room?
I am highly energetic, love to build a scene / character / experience with others, and feel I offer a different perspective for the room. I am beyond college age, with many life experiences, and I feel that that could be an asset. I have a wild imagination, and build ideas in an ever increasing fashion ( bigger, badder, more awesome ! )
List (3) ideas you have for the room, or more:
1. I would love to work with a writing contest of some kind. I love reading and writing and think that a creative outlet such as that is not as fully developed as it could be. I'd like to see a writing contest where the entrants would write a short story creating an 'alternative background / experience' for the NPC's, or the room / land that we've created.
2. Along the same line, a 'letter' writing contest, from one character to another ( or a romantic poem writing contest, of course involving the characters ).
3. Traditionally, an art contest to depict the land that we've created, as the guest sees it.
4. A haiku or limerick contest ( depending on how many other rooms have chosen the same ).
5. An in-character, in rp, word contest. While in character, and rp-ing, the guest who has the best ( acrostic , infinite word , etc . . . ) posting set wins. Pick a style ( or use them all ), say acrostic. Well, sequentially, the guest would have to post, and each posting would start with the next letter in a specific word. We could pick the words, or give options of words. The rules would include rp-ing appropriateness ( does it makes sense for the room / situation ), level of difficulty, length of posts, and so on.
6. An NPC imitation set. At one point, one set of NPCs will start picking on / for some reason you could come up with . . . imitating each other. Sara pretends to be John, pretends to be Roxie, and so on.
7. I am no good with art, but I think as a fun plan, for all the non-artists out there, there could be a 'stick figure' contest / day / ? . Where the non-artists make stick-figures of characters, or the scene, and the room uses those for a day. You could even work it into the plot in that someone was dampening the energy of the dream / siphoning it off, for other purposes.
And so on, I have more: plot ideas, character developement, scene, yadda yadda yadda ; )

I'm very busy in the week, but most weekends and Friday afternoons are free.
Past Experience with the ball?
I RP'ed in the Wrath Room and in Pride's Palace in the 9th Annual Ball.
Experience with events outside of the ball?
On another site I would usually be the one to organize "gatherings" and parties with my friends. I was student council president for 2 straight years, and I organized a lot of dances and events.
How would you describe your RP abilities?
I'm very literate, and depending on who I'm RP'ing with at any given time, I can write anywhere from two sentences to a good-sized paragraph.
Why do you think your a good choice for a co-host?
I think I would be a good co-host because I have very good people skills (I work as a cashier and am constantly interacting with others of all ages.), I have a high level of creativity that I can let loose or control whenever needed, I'm very patient and easy-going, I can assume the personality of anyone, but my true personality is still apparent. I'm not afraid to share my ideas or break up a fight either.
How can you contribute to our room?
I can contribute by donating all of my free time to the room, even though I have a schedule that is far from open. I can share my creativity and make sure the room is running smoothly in a crisis, if needed.
List (3) ideas you have for the room, or more:
Idea 1) A dream that starts out perfect and heavenly, an inviting and joyful environment that makes any attendee feel like they've never had more fun in their life. Slowly things start to slip, and underneath is a dark and chaotic world, filled with havoc, terror, and gloom. The guests try to save themselves and get back to the heaven, or at least a middle ground.
Idea 2) Along with the theme of heaven/hell, we could have an art contest depicting the two extremes; devils and angels. We could also have a tektek contest for the same thing.
Idea 3) Hosts and cohosts could vary depending on personality; devilish or angelic.(sorry it's so short, I can fix it up later if need be I just ran out of ideas ;-; )

I joined recently, I was a pirate at Greed's room!

Not many,I used to roleplay a bit on wikias. I don't do that much. I usually just get on fanthreads on the forums. I roleplayed a little bit in Barton.
How would you describe your RP abilities?
Not horrible or anything. But, I wouldn't consider myself average on roleplay.Inbetween? I'm not very experienced in decorating my posts.
Why do you think your a good choice for a co-host?
I'll be very active in the roleplay. I'll also donate many sleep related items for the room I'm in. I would also try my best to create a unique character that goes nicely with the theme.
How can you contribute to our room?
I'll try to come up with extra plot ideas like backstory for my character. I'll try my best to make the theme and location of the dream more obvious too.

There could be many different avi contests revolving around the theme of dreams and sleep. The winner of these contests will win sleep related items and maybe Rigs like Luna's license.
I heard the Sandman is involved,so maybe you could use The Sandman,Fafnir,And Jack as characters, Sandman trying to manipulate you, Fafnir could be some sort of monster the guests will fight in a cave or something. Jack will try to aid you.
You could make the location an island of some sort with many different landforms. The water for the pirates,caves for Fafnir,dangerous jungles,a huge hill,etc.

I've been in countless Guilds and threads for roleplaying. Writing is a passion of mine, so naturally I basically thrive on that.
How would you describe your RP abilities?
I'm very literate, but I have writer's block a lot so I can usually type 4-10 sentences at most. Sorry.... cat_sweatdrop
Why do you think your a good choice for a co-host?
It depends on what you're looking for in a co-host. I'm a literate roleplayer who thrives on their writing and drawing skills in life. I have an over-active imagination, which makes me rather suitable for this year's Dreamland theme. I love to make my plots and events random and have a lots of "twists," so that should be expected of me. I spend all the time I have on my laptop on Gaia, and I'm always checking this Guild for updates. I'm also a planner- I plan everything in my day, so I could help with that as well.
If that's basically what you want, then I guess I would be a preferable choice. ;3
How can you contribute to our room?
I could help with the plot a lot, [pfft- it rhymed] and I tend to have a very outspoken personality...? My main language is sarcasm, so be expectant of that. I [think...?] I'm a fairly good roleplayer, so it'd be easy for me to talk to multiple people at once. [I say this because I know a lot of people will be talking to and "pestering" the host and co-hosts] I could also help with art. I'm not any good with graphics, but when it comes to drawing I could do just about anything. I could also help with anything else needed, as long as it's manageable within my capabilities and it's not completely insane.
List (3) ideas you have for the room, or more:
1. Apocalypse
Everyone is minding their own business, when all of a sudden the world splits, causing all of human kind into the depths of Hell. Hosts could possibly be the Devil,Satan, Lucifer, whatever you wanna call it, and co-hosts could be his demons.
2. Random Theme Contest
Everyone will put together the best of their talents to create something. It can be anything, a drawing, a story, a poem, whatever. It will be based on something about the theme of the room, or one of the characters, whether it be a host, co-host, or any other character.
3. Heaven's No Place For Demons
Everyone is someone in Heaven, and they could be angels, who are peacefully attempting to live their afterlife in Heaven, or Demons, who are invading Heaven and wreaking havoc. I propose one of the two main hosts be a leader angel or leader demon, trying to cancel each other out so Heaven doesn't have a complete crisis. Co-hosts can figure themselves out, I suppose.
I hereby swear that I will dedicate my time to this room, blood, sweat and tears to make this the best room ever. I also swear that before and during the ball, I will be as active as my real life allows me. I will try not to argue against my hostesses and fellow co-host and I will be step down if needed. Swear?:

Since I just recently arrived, I don't have very many friends where I am, so I rarely have plans. Note that I'm not solidly on for this entire time, and it's just when I'm available for Gaia. I usually spend just over an hour a day on here, if nothing interesting is going on.
Past Experience with the ball?
I've stalked the balls for six years now, but only officially attended one.
For the first four years, I was kind of just too young to add in (or, for some years, be on Gaia - via my sister's abandoned account ^^;; ) so I just lurked.
The year after, I was just coming back from a hiatus. I'd never really been super-active anywhere on Gaia, so I was pretty poor and had an un-flashy avatar; I lurked then, too. Last year, I finally hopped in and went for it. Time of my Gaia life.
Experience with events outside of the ball?
I('ve) manage(d) three active roleplay forums and sixteen now-defunct rapid fire roleplays of assorted levels and topics, as well as general membership in twenty-odd rapid-fires and two forums more. I am or have been in a few roleplay guilds, but the guilds themselves were or are not very active, so I'm not very active in them, either.
How would you describe your RP abilities?
I'm extremely literate, going on for pages at a time if I need to, but I tend to get a little writer's block when I'm not very familiar with my partners, and then go down to one or two decent paragraphs. Luckily, this is just about right for the ball.
Why do you think you're a good choice for a co-host?
I'm very friendly, sort of a "secretly shy" type; I'll talk to anyone and everyone, and not let on that I'm afraid of crowds. It's just an online crowd, anyways.
I'm also an extremely accomplished writer, winning multiple honors and awards from my private high school when I was a student there and from other sources, such as personal commendation from former Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. To go with this, I'm very well-versed in literature and mythology, so I can help anyone who prefers to have an intellectual sort of character in this setting. Though this is the modern age, I have a very classical sort of gentleman's education.
With my extensive background in roleplaying and managing roleplays I will be able to make up for my relative lack of Ball-related experience. Having been commissioned a few times to develop characters for roleplays, stories, and more, I can also take another person's character and flesh it out if asked to, taking all the ideas of the player and listening carefully to their preferences to develop the finished role. I'm good at visualizing and planning, so I'll be able to get things done and make other people do what they need to, taking strain off of the hosts. I will also be able to come up with plenty of ideas, and I can write introductions, draw pretty pictures, and get layouts for the posts as needed. I can also add funds as needed, proofread everything, run contests (especially writing contests), speak Latin and Shakespearean English, come up with ideas...
... as is befitting of a high adventure room, I'm rather a Renaissance man. I draw, write, sing (not that that's useful online), and do essentially whatever I can be told to do. I, unfortunately, do not yet play the hurdy-gurdy, so that is a bit of a limitation. Sorry about that.
How can you contribute to our room?
Though personally shy, I am good at playing characters with big personalities. My characters are generally extremely well-developed, to the point of having secret psychological profiles.
After years of roleplay and managing every imaginable roleplay, I can ensure that everyone is included and enjoying themselves, and am good at moving people away from messing up secret points of a developed plot or otherwise detracting from it, though I will not shut down any member input that it beneficial. I am very diplomatic when dealing with "noobs" who might abuse the ball (as one Gaian who wandered into Pride Palace to advertise discovered), as, though a fairly senior member of Gaia, I do remember when I was a "noob," too - an eleven-year-old noob, at that. I try to treat everyone with respect, and I am willing always to give pointers to roleplayers who ask for them (and ask they do).
Since I have several browsers on my computer, and several computers, I can deal with more than one character if needed.

1. I think there should to be a combination bard/Shakespearean fool in the room. Singing, poetry, jokes, tricks, and stories would all be covered under that combination, and though he could wear motley, he would not have to. A clever fool in the background, knowing and hinting at the future, would simply be awesome. If he's a tenor, it opens up for lots of subtle castrati jokes, too. He could also be the face for the contests and such, since fools and bards were the primary source of entertainment and stories of the time.
"Brave Sir Robin ran away / Bravely ran away, away! / When danger reared its ugly head / He bravely turned his tail and fled..."
2. Pirates are cool, but since this is Gaia, I think we'd need pirates on airships. Airships are cooler, anyways.
3. On the topic of airships, our lovely cast could be hunting some awesome creature, and alight at various isles of the sky. Since it's a dream, we can come up with the most awesome creatures to encounter along the way... Frontier Skies may have bison and desert fish, but we can have phoenixes and calygreyhounds.
4. As a high adventure, the setting is essentially a romanticized Renaissance and Medieval Europe. As such, I think that there should be not only a prose contest, but also a poetry contest (either epics or sonnets). Prose and poetry were forms of great entertainment, particularly in Renaissance times. I might be a little biased as a poet, too.
5. I also think that an art contest is called for. If the plot is decided to have anything to do with naval battles and piracy, there should be flag design contests, because that would be really awesome.
6. Having a general event account (like someone's mule) to deal with things like adversaries and background characters would be a convenient way of dealing with such things, since High Adventure calls for encounters and that many co-hosts would be ridiculously hard to manage. Using a very basic looking avatar (like one of the more unassuming "I am" items, for example the Summoning Tome frog), the character could be indicated by the post layout and a short description. A picture could be included in the post, if necessary.
7. A scavenger hunt would be really fun. Very difficult, but very fun. Searching for references to literature/mthology/pop culture/Gaian culture, with a small prize for each (such as 500 gold), would be fantastic, and would reward Gaians for being well-educated and speedy.
