Bibo had been following Jua'Binti for weeks now. Why, he wasn't sure, it was obvious that she didn't like him, and she wasn't half as pretty as he was besides, so why should he track her down and rag her back home? But nope, that was what he was supposed to do, so he would do it - if he hadn't he would have had to take a mudbath, and Bibo hated getting dirty. But.... what if she bit him again? That would muss his fur! Oh, there was really no winning in this situation was there?

Bibo whimpered and looked around, trying to find a spot to sit that wasn't too dusty. He wanted to take a nap - his muscles ached, his paws burned, and his fur felt dirty and gross. It wasn't fair! He wanted to go home and nap in the shade and not chase mean females across the land.

"It's not fair," he complained, flicking one ear a little. "There's no food here and it's dirty and - why did I have to go?"

He was getting so hungry that the pile of mud (or was it dung?) a few meters away was starting to smell appetizing. But that would get his fur dirty, so he would just have to lie on his side and die of starvation. Oh, woe - why did the beautiful always have to die young?

User ImageParked near that pile of dung (yes, it was poop, and no, it wasn't Oma's poop) was Oma. Well, she was kind of near the poo. There was a huge rock nearby and she was just around the corner, and out of sight of the interloper. Not like it mattered, really. Oma didn't so much mind interlopers as long as they left her alone. Oma was doing something really important. Really important.

"A tower of bones," she whispered to herself, carefully slipping a long, slender rib bone between two others. It looked like some macabre jenga puzzle. At least eighty ribs of various size and shape compiled the tower she was carefully crafting -- four across up and down, four on top of those side to side.

"It is a beautiful bone-tower," Oma mumbled, a loud wheeze bursting past her lips. She started panting heavily, and then the cackling began.

"Bones for me, bones for me, stay away from my bones, they're mine!"

Bibo sighed and stretched out, trying to get comfortable enough for a nap, when he heard the voice singing about bones. It was a beautiful voice to his ears, angelic, even. What was the source of that voice? Curious now, he pulled himself to his paws and trotted in the direction of the lovely voice.

Oh.

Oh my that.

That was the most beautiful hyena he had ever seen!

Bibo's jaw dropped nearly to the ground and his white tail started wagging of its own accord. Such interesting, almost swirled-looking stripes! Such beautiful blue facial markings!

"Hello, beautiful lady!" He called out, trying to sound suave and... probably failing. He was never a ladykiller. They were always too jealous since he was prettier than they were.

The instant that Oma heard a voice call out she abruptly knocked down the tower she'd painstakingly spent the previous two days creating. After the bones had finished clattering to the ground, Oma immediately drew them against her chest in a quick movement. The bones spilled over her forelegs in a heap as she jerked her forelegs in under her, effectively drawing the bones beneath her.

Like some glorious mother eagle with a nest full of ...bones, Oma glared in the direction the voice came from.

The male she spotted looked relatively like the stupid one that had brought her to the clan in the first place, so that was a plus. After all, thanks to him she had more bones than she knew what to do with.

"Stay away," she warned, hunched over the bones like some freakish ...well, like the Oma she was.

Stay away? Away from... her? Or from - oh, away from those bones? My, my, a woman with taste! A treasure collector, even! This was the best find ever! Forget Jua, surely his family would understand that he had found a far superior female, were they to see this lovely lady.

"I would never take a pretty lady's bones," he said, trying to smile and just looking like he was passing gas. Bibo tried to think of something eloquent to say, to woo the pretty hyena off her paws.

"Bones are nice."

That was eloquent and smart, right? ...Right?

Oma narrowed those dark eyes of hers at the male. She wasn't sure if he was lying to her or not about bones being nice. Hell yeah bones were nice. They were better than nice. They were probably like.. the best things ever. Weren't they, Oma?

"Yes."

That's a good girl.

Oma flipped her lip at the male in warning, though her voice was almost sweet when she spoke. "They're all mine and not yours." Yes. However, with this came a small problem. She still had to bring them all home.

All of them.

She scowled at both herself and the situation. Maybe if he was nice she would let him help her.

"Yes, all yours." Bibo said, nodding complacently. Oh, her teeth were so pretty! His tail wagged of its own accord again, and the striped hyena sat down, dangerously close to a pile of poo but for once unaware of the danger to his beautiful fur.

"Do you want more bones? I can bring you more if I find some!" Wait. He wasn't supposed to grovel to females. But - but she was so pretty! So lovely! Beauty incarnate!

Surely finding her a bone or two wasn't too much to ask of his pride, not for such a fair face?

Oma liked the thought of that, though despite her pleasure at the offer that lip of hers remained up -- until she spoke next.

"You help carry these home." It was almost a question albeit an awkwardly posed one, but it mostly sounded like a demand. He would help her carry them home or he would help her carry them home. Those were his two options.

Because while Oma might come off as kind of crazy (okay, really crazy) she was still a hulking piece of volatile she-hyena that would not hesitate to clout him upside the head if he didn't take her up on her kind offer.

For the first time since he had laid eyes on the vision that was this female, Bibo balked and almost ran away. Carry things? WORK?!? How could he do something like that? Anything like that, especially for a female? An exceptionally beautiful female, yes, but still a female. This was - he couldn't work! It would get his fur all dirty!

Sorely tempted to say no, Bibo risked looking the other hyena in the face... and instantly his heart melted. How could he refuse to aid such a lovely creature? Such a beautiful face, such pretty wavy blue marks... no, he had to help her! Even if it meant... eugh... working.

Stepping closer carefully, he nodded. "I will... but where is your home?"

Oma narrowed her eyes at the male. She hoped he understood just how much faith she was putting into his capable (or so she hoped) paws. These weren't just any bones he was going to be carrying, these were her bones. Well, not really HER bones that came from her body, but they were hers in the sense that she'd found them.

"Follow." She gathered up as many bones as she could in her mouth and promptly started slowly traipsing back towards the clan's inner lands, back to her den. They weren't very far from home, in all honesty, and it wouldn't take longer than a few minutes to get there.

He was lucky she'd found him and not one of the other weird females that lived there.

"Noght fawrhr," she mumbled past the bones in her mouth. Once they were home, she'd let him go find her more bones.

Just like he'd promised.
