It was close to sunset within the walls of oh-so mighty Benden and there were the odd-few inhabitants that were running about. Chores, deliveries...food sneaking and late-night visits?
Perhaps for them. But for the elder Candidate with a bag over her shoulder and a canister balanced in her arms, she was on her way towards where the Whers and the Wher Caretakers lived. It had been a chore she had willingly volunteered for and, rarely, ever got.
Maybe they had simmered their attitude a bit? .........Nah.
Shifting the weight in her arms a bit, Mya reached and glanced around for a moment. No one outside? Hum.....Okay.
Balancing the heavy container under one arm, Mya reached out to launch a series of heavy knocks on the wooden door. Hopefully someone was here and wouldn't leave her standing all night.

Luckily whers did not require oiling - so unlike dragons, the high maintenance beasts - but their hide was still comparatively delicate when they were young, and so Harmony found herself cleaning up a small cut on her partner's leg where he'd snagged himself on a sharp edge of something. She was just about finished when the knock at the door came and caused Harmonsk to give an excited bellow and charge off, knocking her flat.
On reaching the barrier that separated him from whoever was out there the wher hatchling threw himself against it and roared, his eyes spinning with excited green but also with flecks of orange: this person could be something he was supposed to guard against!
Harmony, who'd had the wind knocked out of her, sat up as quickly as she was able and hastened after Harmonsk. "Stand back from the door!" she called as she approached. "He's not that well trained yet! Back Harmonsk, go on, back!" Adding the short sharp whistles that she had picked as her 'heel' command the red-haired handler grabbed her charge around the nose and pushed back; she hadn't the strength to force him to move even though he was currently only knee height on her, but it added another layer of emphasis to her orders. The bronze hissed and tossed his head around a bit more after that, but eventually he backed down the corridor with a disappointed huff. He never got to do fun things.
"Alright," Harmony called again, "I'm opening the door now!" So saying she gave Harmonsk a very meaningful look before turning back around and pushing the door open. "Can I help y... Oh, hi there Mya." She'd known the girl... well, not well, but they'd been candidates together for a long time and had spoken in passing a few times of course. She didn't think she'd seen or spoken to the beastcrafter since she'd aged out of standing and left the dorms a turn or so ago.
((I figured they'd have to know each other at least in passing as Harmony grew up at the Weyr and Mya's been there for ages, but I can change myl last paragraph if you like!))

((That's fine by me. biggrin ))
Blinking a few times at the bellow that came from beyond the wooden barrier, Mya had wisely stepped back a few paces even before her friend had hollered the warning.
"Heyla Harmony. Its been a while, hasn't it?" Well this was certainly a bright moment of the night! How long had it been since she had last clapped eyes on the former Candidate- .....Now wher handler? A pause in thought had caused the young lass to glance past the body blocking her view. She couldn't see it well enough, but that shapely blob of shadows was probably him/her.
But first things first, as the muscles in her arms and shoulders kindly reminded her; "I brought ye guys some stuff that the Master said ye needed?" A shift of the canister brought up a rather sour smell. "I also brought down some human food too to snack on later-" Mya cast her old comrade a bright smile. "If ye wanted to catch up and whatnot, I can offer some to ya?"
