Calder waited in his room, checking over a few notes he wrote down and looking at the door every so often. He had sent a text to Malodore to see when he was coming and part of Calder wondered if the undead had gotten cold feet or if Calder just messed up sending a text again. Technology was aggravating which was why he tried 3 more time, just to be sure.

Still, he checked his eyephone for the time and grew a little nervous. He had found the perfect place for their date and wanted to know the vital information he sent Malodore to get and start working. They didn't have all day, and he hoped beyond hope that the Plague Doctor did not blow his cover.

Malodore had figured on a more simple, elegant solution - it was just going to show up, having left its room at once when Calder texted it, and padded across campus in the intervening time. There had been a slight delay while Luce chased a dubbit, but it hadn't been that long, surely... the little cwn pup was panting by Malodore's side as they entered the monster dorms, her feet slightly damp but no longer muddy. She did smell a bit like wet dog, though.

The plague doctor wasted no time in locating Calder's room again. It knocked brightly on the door, then pulled out its eyePhone to text the kelpie back. Just in case.

The door swung open as Calder stood, eyephone in hand, smiling. "Malodore? Was wondering when you'd show up." He smiled, and then that smile twitched when he smelled dog and looked down. "Ohhhh....you brought your pet." He said, not to crazy for Luce or the pet's smell. Too close to a wolf. Sure, it was cute, but even the little ones could tear off a limb. It was a beat in disguise and Malodore had brought it here. It was almost bad as Christof's pet Scruff.

Still, he was far too excited to shoo the pup away, and instead opened the door to let the doctor in. This time around, Calder had taken some extra seats from the monster dorm's supply closet in order for them to sit on something other than his chests.

Shutting the door behind him, Calder moved over to sit. "So, how did you do? Did you find out everything? Tell me all the details."

"Si, si! You remember Luce, yes?" Malodore stepped inside; Luce padded in at her master's side, her nostrils flaring as she sniffed the air. Still, she stayed close to the plague doctor and did not go exploring, though it was plain from her inquisitive sniffs and slightly lifted ears that she wanted to.

At the mention of details, Malodore brightened. It settled itself on the chair and called Luce to settle under it with a snap of its fingers. "I learned much, my friend! It was, ah, a bit awkward? I am not the best conversationalist, you see... but I managed to gather all the requested data and a bit more." It fanned its claws in front of them, counting off each point. "One: her favorite color is purple. Two: her favorite food is candied brains. Three: her favorite flower is dead roses. Four: she likes forests, places with a lot of life. I believe those were the cognizant data points?"

"Noo. I think you're a great conversationalist." A little on the 'to the point' side, but that wasn't anything too terribly bad. It just didn't help with small talk, but that didn't seem to keep Malodore from making friends. Calder certainly could pick up any slack on the chatting side of things as long as he had someone around to listen.

"Well, all conversation will help you out. At least you got all the information. That's a good thing." But now Calder was intrigued. "You said you got a bit more? What else did you find out? Did she suspect anything? You said it was awkward. I thought you two would be comfortable around each other after all this time." ALL THIS TIME and yet no date. These two were hopeless. He still couldn't get over it.

"I learned that magazines are extremely skittish about saying what they mean. If they mean 'sexual intercourse', why do they not simply state it outright? Instead, it is always 'touching' or 'fun in bed'. So imprecise." Malodore's disdain was clear from its tone of voice. "But we bonded over our mutual dislike of such things! It was a great success."

Calder sighed. "If you write intercourse over and over, it just sounds dry and boring. Those words dazzle it up a bit. Just like how you read a story. They could just outright say everything all plain and boring, but...they are like sprinkles on a cupcake. They make it more appealing and catching than just a plain muffin. It's all flavor. You should read more. It's variation, Malodore, and I do prefer it." Sure, he could do well with them just saying it outright, but Calder read plenty to know that if everyone just said "intercourse" over and over that it would really steal from the moment and get old fast.

Maybe he should let Malodore borrow one of his books?

"Well....I guess if the magazine helped a little, but that is some serious literature there, Malodore. Real dating experts wrote all in that. Writers with degrees." As such, they were the best in their field. They just HAD to know what they were talking about.

Then he paused. "Wait? You two talked about that?" He grinned. Oh, what a conversation that had been. "So what? Does Riley want to go take a roll in the hay with you?"
PostPosted: Tue Sep 13, 2011 10:58 pm

"A roll in the hay?" Malodore tilted its head to one side (here we go again). "I daresay that would be a bit prickly, and the stalks might get under my bandages. That would be unpleasant."

"Oh, sugar cubes." Calder placed a hand on his face before dropped it and looking at the Plague Doctor. "Roll in the hay means 'Intercourse'. I really need to write you a list of all the different ways to say intercourse." And boil, did Calder know a lot. Bumping uglies. Making love. Naked Tango. He could go on and on, and now that he thought about it, decided he'd make that list and give it to Malodore to educate it. That way if the question ever did pop up, it would know.

"What did Riley say about that?"

Malodore... couldn't precisely look pained, but it did its best. "So many phrases for such a simple thing. You'd think people were embarassed at the concept." It shook its head, resigned. "And, ah... we discussed the idiosyncracies of language, then moved on to other topics."

Ah. Maybe that was getting a bit ahead of their relationship considering they weren't even taking a date. Thinking that far might be pushing it, but it would be something they would talk about at some point - if they went that far. One never knew with the trials of a relationship. Calder certainly had thought he would be with the boils he liked for a while, and his longest relationship had only lasted a week.

"Well, maybe a talk for later. The important thing is that you talked and you also got the information we need. Now it is up to the planning. A dinner is simple as we can have candied brains for her. Uh...do you want to eat anything for...just the sake of eating? If not, then maybe you two can just feed each other. That's romantic, but your call." Calder got up and returned with a notebook and pen, and wrote the options.

Dinner:
Riley: Candied Brains
Malodore: Y/N to food or Do you want to feed each other one dish?

Place: Indoors or outdoors?
Walk in the woods: Y/N?

"Riley said she liked the woods. You could have the dinner out in the woods. Set up a table and chairs. Some lights. Decorate a little corner a bit and have it as a dinner outside. That or have a dinner date indoors and then go take a romantic walk in the woods."

Calder tapped his chin. "Wilted roses are expensive. We could probably find a few, but we might have to disguise some flowers to look like em. Just put a few that are authentic on the table." Calder looked at Malodore apologetically. "Sorry. I'm not that rich." He wasn't rich at all. He could probably find a few in the woods if he looked really, really hard or even see if they could find some props from the theater supplies. "Here are your decisions to make, and if you have any input, then lay it no me. This is you planning the date, Mal. I'm just helping you along." Calder wanted to make sure that he wasn't the one pulling the reigns on his own. If Malodore was going to take any pride in creating a romantic night for Riley, it had to have say in a good part of it.

"As for that, there could be mood music so it won't be awkwardly quiet." Speaking of awkward. "Do you know what you want to talk to her about?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 15, 2011 8:48 am

"I enjoy eating, though candied brains is a bit too cloying... still, for her, I would consume them. Still, I would recommend that her diet not be entirely saccharine. You remember... the incident." Malodore twitched, its wingfeathers rasping a bit with the movement. "And definitely no Icky Stix... the woods is nice, hm..."

Then it tilted its head at Calder again. "You aren't rich? Why would that matter? You are hardly financially responsible for my escapades." It lifted its beak firmly, though there was something startled in its expression. Was it really interpreting that correctly - that Calder wanted to help pay for this? No, no, the plague doctor wouldn't allow that.

"Saccharine? What's that?" He had never heard anyone use such a long, bizarre word before, and he had to assume it might be a word in the undead's native language. To further confuse him, causing him to tilt his head just so, he asked. "And what incident?" Calder had been in Barth's room when the ghoul had had her sugar attack and had then been outside on the lawn panicking over his friend being turned into pieces.

He looked back over the notes. "Well, you don't have to eat something that might make you sick or just make the dinner unpleasant to have to force something down. You could have your own dish and the pair of you could share. That's all up to you." As for responsible in regards to money, he just shrugged. "I was - just thinking of helping out in any way I could. You're my friend after all. If I was rich, I'd spend money on all my friends." Though that wasn't the case, but he'd do whatever possible.

"Made of sugar; overly sweet," Malodore said, then sat back. "And, grazie - but you have done so much, I could not possibly presume any further, especially not on your funds. I will obtain the dead roses myself." It opened its beak in a smile. "I did so myself, once. You recall the Scarentine's dance?"

Calder still had no idea what sugar had to do with an incident, but he let it pass. As for no sugar, maybe they could find some brains and just dust it with crystallize sugar. That way it was sweet and hearty. He really had no idea what went in a mindflayer's diet but it sounded about right. "Well, you can just get brains and put sugar crystals on it, or maybe find a recipe online for something that it sweet and not made entirely of sugar that she might like. You could even make it if you felt up for it though I think there are some shops in town that will make it for you." Brains was something most undead creatures like in some regard and he was sure they would have varieties.

As for dead roses, Calder smiled and scooted in. "You bought her dead roses?" He playfully nudged the undead's arm. "You are a big romantic after all."
