"Arashi? Arashi, where are you?"
The Baku was practically tearing her room apart, her lips pursed in worry as she dashed from her kitchen-area, to her bathroom, to her room. No matter where she searched, however, she couldn't find her Storm Melonkit anywhere. But...he was here a few hours ago! How could he possibly have gotten ou-- At that very moment, her gaze drifted towards the open window.
Uh oh.
It was strange, though. Arashi had never tried to leave this room on his own before, even when she had the windows open. However, when Xiu rushed over to look out, she spotted the missing feline calmly trotting down the path from the demon dorms. Biting down on her bottom lip, Xiu immediately bolted out of her door--leaving it open and unlocked--and head out to retrieve her mini.
While this was going on, the mischievous feline in question was calmly making his way down the path, ears pricked and alert. There was someone out here who was very interesting!

And so there was. Just outside of the demon dorms was a bench, and on that bench sat a cat ghoul with a book just inches away from her face. Really, Riyo wasn't in the mood to socialize like she tried to do when she parked herself on a bench, but the weather was nice and it wasn't fair to deny herself the pleasure of a cool breeze just because she couldn't stand anyone.
Anyone but cats, that is.
The feline's ears perked as she heard a familiar pitter-patter of small feet walking down the path, red slitted eyes peering just over the book. "Well hello there." She greeted softly, the literature closing in favor of investigating this new-found acquaintance. Slowly, Riyo stood and approached the melonkit, though she didn't appear nervous. It was something she had done often. "Are you friendly?" She didn't talk to cats as if they were little babies, she addressed them like (if not better than) normal creatures.
Without hesitation, the ghoul bent down and offered her hand down to the cat, waiting to see if it fled or accepted her greeting.

If there was one thing about Arashi, it was that he was friendly to practically everyone, be they acquaintance or stranger. The only exceptions to this seemed to be anyone who was particular antagonistic towards his owner but, fortunately, not many had crossed that line. When Riyo stretched a hand out towards him the Storm Melonkit immediately began purring, rubbing his head against her hand and then curling around her legs.
Hopefully she wouldn't mind getting fur over her nice pants.
Meanwhile, a very panicked Baku stood outside of the demon dorms, panting heavily as her gaze darted about in search of her mini. It seemed that--in the time it took her to sprint down the stairs and out of the door--Arashi had already wandered off. Little did she know that her pet was only a few metres away down the path. Instead of heading in that direction, she began walking in the opposite direction, her ears drooping with concern.
"Arashi! Arashi! Where are you?!"

"Well aren't you friendly?" Riyo asked, a small smirk appearing on her face as she watched the melonkit rub against her pant leg. Fur was something the larger feline was used to... More than used to, really.
Carefully, she reached down to pick up Arashi in favor of a nice scratch behind the ears. "Are you a stray?" Her tone softened at the idea. "Do you need somewhere to live? You look well groomed..." So it was possible he was owned by someone in the dorms. Or had they abandoned him? It was always a possibility.
The sound of a feminine voice calling someone's name caused Riyo to look in that direction. She didn't recognize the voice, not that it surprised her. Somebody was in a panic. She had to wonder, could the fuss be over this friendly little guy? "Hm... You didn't happen to run away from someone, now did you?" Either way, Riyo might as well head in the direction of the dorms. If said person happened to be looking for the cat, the ghoul would ensure the cat was returning to a suitable life. If not, then she would take him home and shower him with love and tuna. A win-win situation for the Melonkit.

Arashi gave a lazy ear flick, answering Riyo's question with a very unhelpful yawn. Evidently, he was unaware of his owner's current state, distracted instead with this intriguing feline-ghoul. Indeed, he had never met anyone quite like her before! Purring loudly, the Melonkit reached a paw out, placed it on Riyo's nose, and left it there. It was his unusual way of saying hello.
When the sound of Xiu calling his name reached his ears, however, the feline's ears immediately perked up in alarm. Oops! Had she been looking for him? Arashi turned his red eyes onto Riyo, emitting a small meow as he suddenly attempted to wriggle free. Aah, he needed to go, but he wanted to learn more about this ghoul! What a dilemma.
The Baku had begun to take the opposite path, her tail lashing behind her as she cupped her hands around her mouth. "Arashi! Arashi, come on!" When her mini didn't come trotting up to her immediately as he usually did when he was called, a series of scary possibilities flashed through her mind. What if he was lost? Or...if he had been eaten by something?

Riyo blinked as a paw fell on her nose, momentarily going cross-eyed to look at it. That was... Extremely adorable. With a smirk, she scratched behind the feline's ears gently. It was a shame that the feline was likely owned by someone else. He was so friendly..
Though, when he started to squirm at the sound of the shouts, Riyo knew what was probably happening. "Alright, alright. C'mon. Lets go find this ghoul that's shouting about you." At least she assumed.
Sensitive ears honed in on the shouting, determining where it was coming from and what direction it might be going. "HEY. GHOUL." She shouted back, if only to get her attention. Was that her? The ghoul with the white hair? "Is this yours?"

Arashi decided that he liked this ghoul very much. When Riyo agreed to bring him to Xiu, he immediately relaxed and went right back to purring, his tail lazily flicking side to side. His ears, on the other hand, were perked and alert as he listened intently for his owner's voice.
Xiu, left with her imagination, had been beginning to grow more desperate when she heard someone call out to her. Or at least, she assumed they were talking to her--"ghoul" was a very general way to address anyone. Whirling around with wide eyes, she took in the figure standing a few ways away, and then her gaze drifted down to the feline settled in the other ghoul's arms. "Arashi!"
She sounded extremely relieved as she jogged towards them, stopping right in front of Riyo to bow her head in an apologetic manner. "I...I'm very sorry if he caused you any trouble! One minute he was in my room, and then..." Straightening up, the Baku directed a small frown towards her mini, reached a hand out towards him. "You scared me!" As if in apology, the melonkit reached out and put his paw on top of her open palm. Then he yawned.

Riyo's eyebrow raised to her hairline when the ghoul came running. White hair, weird ears, girly outfit... No, this ghoul couldn't be...
... Another Mitsu?
"He caused me no trouble. You shouldn't apologize for such a nice cat." The ghoul said sternly, unappreciative of the Baku's tone towards Arashi. "I'm sure he would've returned to you when he was ready. Cats did that. Sometimes they just needed to roam. Occasionally her cats would leave the room, but they always returned.
Giving the feline one last scratch behind the ears, she carefully sat him down before tucking her hands in her pockets. "In fact, he wanted to come find you as soon as he heard you shouting." Riyo assumed at least.

Her eyes widened slightly at the light scolding, and she quickly shook her head. "N-no, I'm sorry--I...I mean...um..." She wasn't really sure what to say, but...at least she was reassured to know that Arashi had been well behaved in the presence of this stranger? Clearing her throat, Xiu smiled nervously and nodded to show that she understood. "Y-yes, I'll keep that in mind, now. He rarely leaves the dorm on his own, so I was just a little worried."
When Arashi was set down, he immediately began to purr loudly, curling around Riyo's legs affectionately before padding over and doing the same to Xiu. When the Baku bent down to scoop him up, he offered no resistance, tucking himself into her arms and settling in comfortably.
...Well, it was a good thing that he was so comfortable. The ghoul, on the other hand, still seemed a little shy around this stranger. "He...he's pretty friendly, isn't he?" She chirped, trying to make some small talk. After a moment of silence, the Baku tilted her head and asked, "U-uh, if I may...who are you? My name is Xiu-Ying."

The similarities between the lupine and the baku were almost eerie. It was as if Riyo was meeting the demon version of her acquaintance.
Watching the Melonkit momentarily, the feline sighed. Shame he was owned by someone else, though it was good to know he was in capable hands. The nervous ghoul probably treated him like a king in order to avoid upsetting the cat.
"Mhm. Many cats don't enjoy being held so close." ... One prime example being right in front of the baku. Not that she ever considered herself among this group. "My name is Riyo." The feline said nonchalantly, leaning in to get a better look at Xiu's face.
"You uh... You wouldn't happen to know a girl named Mitsu, would you?" She had to know. The similarities were so great. Surely they knew each other.

Riyo? The name didn't seem to ring a bell--perhaps she was...newer, here? Or maybe they had simply never encountered one another before. "It...it's nice to meet you!" Despite her nervousness, she managed a smile and a small, polite bow.
The smile immediately made way for surprise at Riyo's question, however. "Mitsu? Y-yes, she's a friend!" Her tail gave a little wag, and the Baku cocked her head to the side curiously. "Do you...do you know her too?" That seemed to be the most logical conclusion, at least. Were Mitsu and Riyo friends, perhaps? If that were the case, then perhaps Xiu didn't need to be so nervous around her.
At the very least, she trusted Arashi to have a good judge of character. If he liked this ghoul, then surely she couldn't be a bad person.

Well, at least this ghoul was composed enough to bow. Though the stuttering did grate on her.
Ah, and how did she know? Though the fact that they were only friends was slightly surprising. "Do I know her?" Riyo repeated the question with narrowed eyes. "No. I just play this game where I toss out random names to see if people will have a reaction to them. My next name was going to be Steve." The answer seethed with sarcasm, as if just asking it was some kind of inconvenience to the cat ghoul.
It wasn't that she actually had anything against the seemingly meek demon, that's just the way Riyo was wired. "Yes, I know Mitsu. The reason I asked is because your mannerisms are very similar to hers." Which meant she thought both of them were kinda wusses. "How long have you two known each other?" Maybe one rubbed off on the other? Childhood friends adopting the same reactions? Is that how it worked? Hell if she knew.

Xiu's only response to Riyo's sarcastic comment? "Oh." She wasn't really sure what else to say, but blinked up at the other ghoul with a vaguely puzzled look on her face. She decided to keep it to herself that there really was a Steve at Amityville.
He was a man-eating plant.
The conversation had moved on, however, and Xiu considered the question thoughtfully. "We've known each other for...for a couple of months?" That seemed about right. They had met before prom, but the two of them didn't really begin chatting until shortly after prom. However, to Xiu, it actually felt as if she had known Mitsu for longer than those short few months. Strange how that worked.
"You're...Mitsu's friend, then?"

Only a couple of months? Either the two of them rubbed off on each other fast or the two meek, stuttering, white-haired ghouls had found one another by fate... And then somehow managed to meet the one feline who didn't want to be their friends.
Shooting Xiu a mean look when the baku mentioned 'friend', Riyo scoffed. "No. I'm not her friend. Nor am I anyone's friend. I have neither the time nor patience for such trivial ideas." The ghoul started, turning towards the demon dorm and folding her arms. "I swear to Jack, everyone here is so friendship-obsessed it's a wonder that they get anything done." It was a rather abrupt explosion... One that might've hinted the subject was like a fresh wound. Hel had made sure to pour plenty of salt in it a few days prior. "I'll bet you're one of those people who needs approval from your friends before you decide to do anything. Am I right?"

A look of surprise crossed Xiu's face at the look Riyo gave her, and then her ears and tails drooped slightly. She hadn't meant to offend the other ghoul! Though that being said...she wasn't sure what exactly she had said to upset Riyo. Not until Riyo went on to insist that she wasn't Mitsu's friend, that was, and that friendship was unnecessary.
Or uh, that was the general gist that she got from it, at least.
"I..." At the question, Xiu's eyes widened slightly. She...she supposed that she was kind of dependent on her friends' opinions? Kind of? "I don't...see what's wrong with having friends? They're just...people who you can care about and who you can trust?" The Baku dodged the question, furrowing her brows in confusion as she looked up at the feline ghoul. Perking up suddenly, she held up Arashi and cocked her head to the side.
"Like Arashi! Arashi is my friend, even if he's just a mini."
