For the first couple times Grus came to the Surrounding, she favored the Leo Outpost. There she knew people, and there were working kitchens. She felt good bringing food for everyone. But after a while, she found herself staring down the road, wondering what the other outposts were like. So one day she left the kitchens, and wandered. She came upon Chronos Castle later in the day...

It was much larger than Leo's Outpost. She stared at it in awe, distracted from the civilians that were wandering the grounds.

She spent some time where the beds were located, chatting to people, asking how they were doing and if there was anything she could get for them. They all had requests, and she kept a mental list of things to bring back, though many of those requests would go unfulfilled. There was no way she was going to get a TV and the first six seasons of Friends up in space.

There was a door that no one seemed to go into, a floor above the ballroom turned refugee camp. She twisted the doorknob, and peered inside the room. Windows shed light on things set alone on pedestals. They lined the room, which had pieces of wall and ceiling missing. Some of the pedestals had fallen, leaving the subject on the floor somewhere. But many were intact, and she opened the door farther, stepping into the unknown room. What were all of these things?

There was something about Chronos’ Outpost that appealed to Felix. Most likely it was the regal grandeur and awe-inspiring size of the building compared to the rest. It was big and sprawling compared to the other outposts. Already Felix had stumbled upon the indoor gardens, which was a startling sight to discover. His fingers slid over the dusty marble of the fountain as it weakly babbled. It was pitiful to see the garden in such disrepair. He could only hope for someone experienced in gardening to stumble upon the place and spruce it up a bit. Earlier he had attempted to pull out some weeds to collect into a pile, but physical labor was just not his forte. Eventually, he wandered out of the garden and back into the throne room. Having satisfied his curiosity of the first floor, he ascended the stair case and entered the second floor.

The first thing that caught his sight was a slightly ajar door. Someone—or something, but Felix earnestly prayed it was someone—was inside the room, whatever it was. Curious, Felix moved closer to the door before gently pushing it open with one hand. He remained silent as he popped his head in and was met with the sight of a plethora of artifacts. As someone who had once considered majoring in archaeology, he nearly flipped a lid at the sight. There were so many items he was tempted to examine, where should he start?

Eyes wider than usual, he slowly moved deeper into the room and then he remembered that there was another person inside. Judging by the puffy, feathery bow and extravagant costume—compared to normal attire—he guessed it was a senshi. Again, he grew curious. A senshi. “You’re a senshi, right? What’re you the senshi of?”

The first podium she inspected was a few away from the door. It was a plain podium of stone, with a plaque on the front, and the object was on a flat stone. This one was a lantern, white in color. It hat had a piece on top that looked like it could hang from something. But that wasn't the most distinctive feature about it. Inside where the wick and flame would be, a fog was trapped in the glass. It was a pale blue color, and it glowed faintly. She put her hand up to the glass, but not feeling any sort of warmth from the lantern. It must be magical fog. The plaque below was dusty. Grus used her arm to wipe of the dust, and in newly shining letters it read;

"Guidelamp of Bellatrix"

"Bellatrix?" she wondered aloud, thinking. She had never heard of anyone names Bellatrix...

“You’re a senshi, right? What’re you the senshi of?”

Grus just about jumped out of her skin when someone else spoke. She whirled around, staring at the open door and the person standing within while a cold sweat broke out against her skin. "Jesus!" She said, putting her hand to her chest. "You tryin to kill me?"

Upon closer inspection, she found him to be a civilian, and she smiled though her heart took it's time slowing.

"I'm..Sailor Grus. Senshi of Feathers."

“Bellatrix? I’m pretty confident that it’s a star in one of the constellations, but I don’t know which,” Felix answered, offering her a snippet of information that might prove to be useful.

He quirked a single eyebrow at Grus, intrigued by her exaggerated reaction. His presence was not too surprising. Perhaps he had entered the room a smidge too quietly? However, he didn’t think it was enough to warrant her remarks. “No. If I was trying to kill you I would be attacking you.” To corroborate his reasoning, he held out both of his hands to reveal both of his empty palms. “No weapons, and I can’t fight to save my life. I’m perfectly harmless.” Rather, it was more likely that Grus would injure him than he would injure her—she was a senshi and he was a powerless civilian.

However, her sphere made him consider retracting that last thought. “Feathers. That’s pretty odd.” He revved up his imagination, conjuring first an image of a shower of fluffy showers, but afterwards re-envisioned the feathers to be sharper, more dangerous. Was her attack similar to his guesses or perhaps something in between? Something different altogether?

“I’m Felix.” He walked toward the podium Grus stood in front of. Felix stood a couple feet behind the senshi and read over her shoulder. “Guidelamp of Bellatrix. Interesting.” His expression remained blank, but his eyes gleamed with intense curiosity. Then he turned around to look at the rest of the room. “There’re a lot of artifacts in this room. I wonder why.”

"A star?" She said, looking back at the plaque. Was there a Sailor Bellatrix then?

She knew that we wasn't trying to harm her. Most civilians alone couldn't really do too much to a senshi. It was more of a turn of phrase, and she eyed his open palms while her heart returned to a normal rate. Besides, if he did anything stupid, she could just attack and run. And it wasn't like she wasn't supposed to be in here.

"It's....a sphere that takes getting used to." She said with a shrug. A lot of getting used to. Even as a Super, she sometimes wondered just what had caused her to get feathers for a power.

"It's nice to meet you." She said, dipping her head and smiling. Her gaze traveled with his to the lamp again. "It's strange. If this came from Bellatrix I mean. What's it doing here then?" Her gaze went back around the room where many more podiums stood. She momentarily forgot about being senshi, who was supposed to be graceful and calm in these situations. Instead, she ran to another podium, gazing at it's artifact. This one wasn't really standing on the podium, but more leaning against it. The plaque read "Polluxian Lionspear". Pollux! She had just met him a couple days ago!

"These all must be from senshis." She said to Felix, running a finger down the body of the spear. There were carvings, but it was took dark to see just what they were.

Felix nodded in return. “Came from Bellatrix?” He tried to wrap his mind around that sentence, his brows furrowed until he finally realized the meaning behind her words. He could no longer think of comets and planets as devoid of life, not when he was standing on actual proof that contradicted this conception. Bellatrix wasn’t just a star, a giant ball of hot gas, but a place where sentient beings lived and developed an entire civilization. Felix perked up at the last bit. An entire civilization. Artifacts. Culture. He pursed his lips, wondering why the hell he couldn’t travel to these places too.

“Chronos is a princess, correct?” Arms crossed and one hand hovering over his mouth, he began to gather his current knowledge. “I’m not sure how famous she is to the other civilizations, but it wouldn’t be surprising to receive gifts from them, I suppose.”Grus strode over to another podium with a large spear, but Felix opted to delve deeper into the room. He skimmed the plaques, the names of planets and stars vaguely registering in his mind—he wasn’t much of an astronomy person before deciding to stop in front of a ‘mayatobe.’ He leaned forward, scrutinizing the details on the thing, an instrument perhaps. The design was somewhat akin to a guitar. On the necks were engravings of feathers, instantly bringing to mind Grus, but it wouldn’t be surprising if bird senshi also existed. “Hey, is this thing yours or a different senshi’s?” he inquired, pointing at the podium.

Grus nodded, inspecting the spear further. "Yeah, there's a senshi for a lot of the planets out there." And apparently they really liked Chronos. The thought of other planets holding civilizations no longer surprised Grus, seeing how her ancestors were from another planet themselves. What surprised her was the diversity of types of planets.

At his inquiry, she turned her nod into a shrug "I'm honestly not all that sure. I think she is, but I've never actually met her personally." In fact, the only senshis that she had met that were a part of the Surrounding were Virgo and Leo, and those encounters were only for a moment. "If she was, then chances are they are presents to her. Or maybe the King, whoever he was."

When Felix mentioned her, she twisted from her place in the room and strode over to where he was standing, staring at the musical instrument. It certainly didn't bring back any memories, nor did she recognize it in the slightest. It seemed to be a guitar with two necks, and carvings all over it. The strings were dusty, but color could be seen faintly underneath, and a blue string was revealed when she ran a finger down one of them. The plaque said "Mayatobe - Grus"

"It must be from my planet." She said, circling the object. "But, I don't recognize it..granted, this wasn't even delivered in my lifetime."

“Well, I’m pretty sure Chronos’ is a princess. I think I remember her saying that, or some of the other Zodiacs referring to her as that.” The pink butterfly wings probably also signified her high status among other senshi. The idea of a royal senshi—because Chronos was a senshi too, right?—made Felix curious. There were probably other senshi royalty out there too; did they all have ridiculous wings? Running around with such ginormous limbs must be exhausting.

“A king, that’s right…I wonder where the king and queen, are?” He opted to leave that inquiry unanswered for now. Rather, Felix refocused his attention back to the senshi of feathers, following her line of sight and reading the rest of the plaque. “Lifetime, huh?” Stoic as usual, his hand reached out to curiously trace the words on the sign. “Can you go to your planet?” he asked out of nowhere. “I’m intrigued. If I can travel to here, can you travel to Grus?” In a way, he felt envious. Hundreds of planets and stars and comets filled with worlds, waiting to be discovered and explored, and Felix would only be able to observe them through a telescope at best.

Envious. So envious.

He peered closer. “Definitely some sort of instrument. You think you could play it?”

Well, it made sense to her. After hearing about a Prince Senshi, Princess was a logical step. She wondered how these senshi attained such power, or if, like their powers themselves, they were born with it. She briefly mused that maybe she too had princess powers, but then dismissed it. Maybe they were royalty because they needed royalty. From what she has seen of her planet, they didn't seem to need an ultimate ruler.

Speaking of her planet.."Yes, I've been to Grus before." She said a touch dreamily, thinking back on the planet she drew her power from. "I can only go to it every couple weeks, but I can spend as much time as I'd like there once I get there. It is a lovely place."

"But I don't think I would be able to actually play this thing." She said, wiping more of the dust off the strings. They were each different colors, and different widths. "I'm sure the one that brought it here would be able to, but the ability to play a space instrument didn't come with the magic powers." She smiled and laughed.

Unlike Grus, Felix was obviously not a senshi. He had no knowledge of the inner workings of the senshi. There was a Prince senshi within the ranks? The revelation might have piqued his interest, but Felix wasn’t particularly intrigued by the strange group of magical soldiers. He was honestly more interested in the contents of this apparent artifact room.

“I see.” His expression did not change, but inside he bubbled with envy. “What’s it like? Is it also empty and abandoned, like the outposts here?” Felix secretly hoped not. He would prefer to imagine an entire, thriving civilization other than Earth’s still existed somewhere. “Lovely, you say.” Felix calmly repeated her words. “Lovely in what ways?”

“That’s a shame,” he confessed, “but it can’t be helped. Senshi are born on Earth too, right? So no recollection of their home planets, stars, etcetera.” Felix reached out to cautiously pluck one of the strings to see if it would still emit sound. “It would be interesting to hear a song from Grus, to see how different it is from Earth music.”

"It's abandoned, but it's not destroyed." She said, taking her hand off of the instrument. Her mind was far away, lost in a world where she came from. "There aren't any people, or animals. But there are plants. So many plants." Her eyes sparkled when she looked at Felix.

"There's trees that are bigger than any kind i've ever seen." She said, wandering to look at the next artifact mildly. "And the people that lived there lived in treehouses, connected by rope bridges." She came back to where he stood, fingering at the instrument again. "It was probably colorful, and filled with music.." There was a slight sadness as she trailed off, plucking at the orange string. What a place it might have been. And yet, she would never see it that way.

"I was born here on Earth like you." She said, sighing herself into a smile for the civilian. "No memory of a strange rainforest far far away. It's kinda a bummer, but I think I'd rather live here anyway. There's things to fight for here."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 11, 2011 10:09 pm

“Not destroyed? I’m glad.” While information through word of mouth was useful, clues and observations of abandoned artifacts and structures were just as important. In fact, Felix preferred exploring ruins over interviewing people. He was not a sociable person. While he did not actively shy away from contact with other people, he did not often seek out their company either. It felt more comfortable to be by his self or with a couple others, silently walking through an exhibit or ruin in an attempt to piece traits and characteristics together.

Plants. Plants meant fauna and nature. Nature meant rocks. Admittedly, while Felix enjoyed archaeology and exploring, his primary hobby was geology. He had once considered becoming a geologist, but realized that he didn’t just like rocks and digging, but excavating and discovering as well.

“Sounds a bit primal,” he noted, “but it also means they must’ve respected and were in tune with nature.” The twinge of sadness in her voice did not go unnoticed. Arms crossed, head angled toward the instrument, his eyes traveled toward Grus. “Perhaps you could repopulate it again. It can be lively again, although not completely the same.” A futile suggestion, but a suggestion nonetheless.

“Ah, yes. I heard from Captain Virgo.” His eyes turned cloudy at her last words. “Things to fight for, you say?”

Grus nodded, turning to look at other artifacts. Her's remained in the corner of her eye however, as if it were going to suddenly grow legs and walk off or something. "It might have been. My visions aren't good enough to tell yet. Maybe someday someone will figure out a way to go back in time. I'd have a lot of questions for whoever was Senshi when it was destroyed."

The thought of re-population made her crack a smile. "I don't really know if anyone but Senshi and perhaps Knights could survive on the planet." She said. "Though I guess if there is atmosphere enough for plants, there should be for people. But I'd probably have to stay in senshi form the whole time, and eventually I'd want to go back to being a civilian and rest."

Her smile remained in place even when the subject of fighting came up. "Yes, I have friends and family to fight for. I don't want them to end up youma fodder."

She was starting to feel uncomfortable, worry tickling the back of her mind. Was her family ok while she was up here? She couldn't imagine the negaverse taking a break while half of Destiny Citys senshi were up in space. Maybe she should go check on them...

"I should go." She said, turning toward the door. Her worry started to consume her bit by bit, until she just had to check on her family. Before she left, she smiled at Felix "It was really nice meeting you." She said sweetly "I hope you guys get to go home soon. Heck, maybe I'll see ya around again before that." And with that she was gone out of the room, searching for a Zodiac to take her home.
