It had been a couple months since he had been to the school, and feeling a little guilty, Jack couldn't figure out how he was supposed to just waltz back into the building that had been so willing to take him in - a rough and tumble feline mutt with a clowder of cats - only to have to run away so quickly in the dead of night one day, midway through classes.
He felt terrible.
Swallowing the pang of worry in his throat, he adjusted the strap that cut into his shoulder, the weight of his newly fixed sitar a reminder of his ... vacation, of a sort. Taking a gander around, he noticed an open window, just, being there, almost calling him in. Everything in his body told him to go through there - mostly out of habit and necessity. Taking up the wall almost like it was nothing special, he reached the sill, looking down into the room, hoping to get away with what he believed was some serious ninja skills.

It was late at night, And Remi was settled into his bed comfortably reading a book. Now would he ever admit to actually liking to read? Nope. But that is what was good about his bed.
Consisting of nothing but what appeared to be a giant pile of pillows... it was the perfect place to hide things if he ever so much as felt the need to hide something. Books, being one of those things. Though sometimes in the middle of the night the kitsune would roll over and get the corner of one in his back or some rather unpleasant area. The second year usually would sleep in his true form, finding being in his natural fur being more comforting and 'right'. Tails swishing a few times, if anyone was watching they would find him still in his human form....pretty much ignoring the world besides this random book.
His window was open halfway, both for the cool feeling of the air on his skin and because his familiar, Abyss, was out doing....whatever squirrel sized dragons did. Sometimes he would bring back mice on these little excursions, so this boil had a feeling he was hunting.
A noise sounded on the ledge.
Waving a arm, he mumbled. "Abyss no more presents left on my desk, okay?" Grumpy as always... when he did not get his usual 'peep' of a reply, which was all Abyss seemed to be able to make noises wise, the boil looked over his shoulder and focused in on the window.
Only to stare once he made sense of what he saw.
Mouth wide.
Eyes even wider. Was that who he thought it was? He sure as hell hoped there was not TWO cats of that coloration wandering around.
"WELL if it isn't our favorite resident tom. Back from whatever tail you decided to chase?"

He had originally figured this was the best place because it seemed so quiet, a little barren and. . well, open. It didn't dawn on him at first how cozy and warm the room had come out to be until he was nearly over the other body in the room. Literally, over.
When the first few words came out, he nearly snapped to attention, his ears perking, sending little jingles through the room, eyes aglow as he looked for the owner - a sense of familiarity flowing over the shock. With all his senses on overload, it didn't occure to him that he was too large for the sill, and his hands were slipping, so in a desperate rush of adrenaline, he jerked back to run out of the window again, but his hands slipped right at the end, and sent him barrelling down to the floor, body already seizing up and adjusting for the floor.
After a few moments, his mind followed his body back down, his glowing eyes blinking back the haze as he looked at the soft floor, his nailpolished fingers and knees having saved him again. Cat senses. Again, it took him a moment before he heard the reassuring voice again, and his eyes snapped up, taking in the familiar face of his brother in arms, a wild smile cracking across the handsome line of his face.
"She had legs from here to neverwhere and she sang a mean tune." He came out with, in an almost sing-song way, his smile mischevious, hiding the fear that he had almost a moment ago. "But really, I just got back. Miss me?"

"Awh and you didnt invite me along? I'm hurt!" Remi made a dramatic motion of his hands clamped over his chest, eyes closed, giving a HUUGGEEEEE sigh that ended with a cough and a laugh. He gave that mischievous look back towards the feline, a all too familiar smirk. Propping himself up on his arm, the kitsune gently shoved the book he was reading under his pillow. Jack was a childhood friend and all, and usually Remi would not mind if he was caught reading by him, but it was second nature to hide his habits from the world.
Glowing eyes, something that was new for his human form, watched the feline once more as his blue tails flicked back and forth; Remi commented on the first thing he noticed....
"....You are way too thin Bro, you need to eat more." It was probably as much as a 'yes i missed you' Jack was going to get, but the warm smile was genuine enough.
