History: Markela was born to one of Benden's holds. She is one of 4 children on her mother's side. Her dad, Kevi, is a wherhandler and her mom is a cook. Being that she has a few half siblings running around the hold, it was no surprise that she went to train in the Beastcraft. She has no close contact with her family, just quick waves before heading off to do some chore or something. As soon as she could start helping, that was all she did, fetching and delivering before becoming an Apprentice. The chores left her very little time to get to know the family well and by the time they could, she was gone. All the way until she was Searched, she was just another of Kevi's herd.
In the free time she could get, she was always out around the crafters, listening to what they talked about. It always fascinated her and soon, she was put to work of mucking out the stalls, along with whatever else was needed for one of Kevi's herd.
At 10 turns, she joined the Beastcraft Hall and became an Apprentice. She learned as much as she could, sometimes working over time. At 13 turns, a search team came to the hold. To her family's utter surprise, she was taken to be a candidate. She was happy to be leaving the hold and family, praying that she would become something more.
Her first impression of the Weyr, was complete shock. The description she heard from others did not compare to really seeing it. Candidate life started out harder than she expected, but she adjusted. The worst part was keeping her mouth shut about Atypical dragons.
Description: She is about 5'4 with wavy dark brown hair. She keeps her hair short so that it stays out of the way when she is working. Her eyes are a dark brown with a small nose and a wide smile on her face. She has shallow scars on her legs from herding in some runners when she was 12. She had landed on some rocks once they reached the area she was heading towards.
Personality: When she is around anyone else, Markela looks down on the Atypical riders. She feels that she needs to hide her true feelings about the Atypicals. Markela doesn't want to be an outcast, so she talks badly about them, even though she knows that dragons are needed, no matter what. Markela is loudest when it comes to something she believes about and doesn't have to hide around others. Things she doesn't have to hide are the easy common things, like fashion or
She has many female friends, but feels that she is being used so they look better and will get the males. Even though she has that feeling, her loyalty still lays with them because they are her friends. She lacks self-confidence about things she knows when too many people are watching her.
While she would love to be a rider, she is also willing to be a handler, as long as it means not going back to the hold. She started to enjoy being in the Weyr, and didn't want to go back to being another of Kevi's herd.
Other: When she is bored, she draws in the sandy areas. She wont waste paper like that.
