After her first morning classes, the lunch bell had gone off and Basia went looking for her roommate. Dani was the only other person she considered a friend, even tho she'd met plenty of others in her classes, she still felt socially awkward around such a large mass of people. So off she went to her room, dropping off her books and hoping that Dani would be around so they could eat lunch together. Though as she entered the room, it was clear that no one had been here recently, Basia sighed she wasn't really looking forward to eating lunch alone on her first day and look like an outcast. Grabbing some lunch money from her drawers, Basia left her room and went on her way towards the cafeteria.
The place was loud, Basia was startled by the amount of people all squished into a single room. Her eyes made a quick scan around the room, crossing her fingers in the hopes she'd caught Dani's fiery hair somewhere amidst the crowd and join her. Disappointed once more, Basia took her place in the line to grab some food. She'd never eaten anything extraordinary, Catherine hadn't been much of a cook and her skills were limited to very few recopies. So when Basia got to the front, she stared at the food with her mouth slightly open in awe at how much there actually was. There was no way she could just pick a few items to eat, she wanted to try it all! Others in line were starting to groan at how slow she was being.

After the morning classes, Jenner had seriously considered not eating lunch and just sleeping on his bed until the afternoon classes started. However, he knew that if he did that, he'd wind up starving by the end of the day. So, after a quick stop in the dorm to see if Straffe was around, change, and grab his lunch money, Jenner skipped on down to the cafeteria, grimacing at all the noise.
Maybe he'd eat outside.
He got into line behind someone, not really paying much attention as he looked around for Straffe's bright hair and slight glow. In the chaos that was Lunch Time, though, he didn't see him, and so focused his efforts on why the line was taking so long. It appeared to be the girl in front of him.
Huh.
"It's a lot of choices, innit." He ventured, leaning around so he could see what she was so enamoured by. Food was food, and he didn't want to be caught in the crosshairs of a vindictive kid angry with the girl holding up the line!

Usually, Basia would have ignored everyone until she was ready to pick something, but now she was the one getting annoyed with everyone. Had they not seen the amount of food in front of her? How could they even pick? The situation only reminded her of how little her mother took her out of the house, and what little she knew about the outside world. Running a hand through her hair she finally turned to the boy who had questioned her, starring at him for a little to examine him. She thought he kind of talked funny, or maybe she was just hearing an accent from him.
“Yea a lot.” Her eyes turned back to the food, her stomach was starting to protest against her too. She turned to him again, putting her hand on the glass for support. “What do you suggest?” She wasn't willing to admit, in front of all these people, that she'd never seen this much food gathered in one place. Hopefully, the boy would give her a quick and easy solution that tasted good. Basia made a mental note to look up more food books to figure out what the cafeteria was serving so she wouldn't look like an idiot next time lunch came around.

Jenner blinked, momentarily faltering at the girl's inquiry. What did he suggest? He made a quick visual scan of the table, before lifting a shoulder in a shrug. "It all looks good." He said honestly, glancing back with a grimace at the grumbling behind them. Hostile crowds made him nervous, okay? He offered a small smirk at Basia, though.
"You can't go wrong with pizza." He pointed out, nodding to the multiple trays down the way of pizza with a myriad of toppings. "It's usually a safe taste-bud bet. I'd stay away from the jiggling stuff. You never know what's actually in it." He'd had a few fair fights with cafeteria food in the past, and it never bode well to fight with Jiggling Masses Of Questionable Origin.

Basia completely agreed with him, thus why she'd asked him. Though he too didn't look like he knew what to pick. She nodded at his advice, giving the pizza a glance and moving down further to see what they offered. The only thing that looked somewhat familiar was the bread and cheese and some of the toppings, Basia glanced from one plate to the other, once more unsure. She was going to have problem if every meal was going to be like this, she ought to try everything once at least and make some sort of mental checklist of what she'd already eaten.
In the end, Basia took the garlic sauce with cheese and bacon pizza. The crowd gave a sigh of relief when she finally moved on to picking a drink and desert and started heading for the checkout. She paid for everything and exited the food area to be confronted to all the tables and chairs were students ate, the place was huge and so full Basia wanted to back away. She needed to find Dani and sit down with her, but looking out at the sea of heads, Basia couldn't find her, but she kept looking.
