Eliza and Velath were on the way back from the feeding grounds, obviously Velath was still far to young to partake of the activities there but that had not been the reasons for their visit regardless. They'd just learned it was a great place to gather gossip - and the older riders never seemed to lack the time to give Velath attention and share a few juicy details with the pair.

Today's visit had been especially exciting - not only had they learned of the disappearance of that strange old Ancientcrafter, the one whom had become buddy buddy with Benden and spent so much time on the Mystweed..but they had also learned of Benden's clutch and its apparently mammoth size..both in number and in egg size. The queen egg was said to be especially large nd people were already speculating on the size of the queen which might hatch out of it.

Of course Eliza was sure that there was some.. exaggeration in the tales, there always was, but it was exciting none the less and she simply couldn't wait to run across someone else to share what she'd heard. "Shall we heard back to the weyrling barracks?" She asked Velath "I"m sure there's bound to be someone there we can tell.

'That is a good plan mine, perhaps one of my clutchmate's will have heard some more details' the little green responded eagerly and as a team the two angled off towards the Barracks across the weyrbowl.

They had gotten an early start to the day today, heading to the feedings grounds while they were fairly empty of other dragons. Cepheith was in a mood and had been for a day or two now. The young queen was having problems understanding the gossip rolling around the Weyr about Benden's clutch. She didn't get why there was so much tension between Weyrs. Nor did she know if it should be taken as an insult that there was so much bragging going on about the size of the Golden egg in this other Weyr. And because she was confused and still working it out in her own mind, it made her easier to rile up than usual. Which was why Narisa had chosen to take her down earlier to feed before bathing and oiling. After all this was accomplished, Narisa decided it was safe enough to head back towards the barracks. And other weyrlings.

It was Cepheith that spotted Velath and her bonded first. The gold's head tilted curiously their way. Wasn't Velath the one who was exceptionally good at catching the gossip? Narisamine! We should go speak with Velath and Hers. They may have more news about this Benden clutch. And maybe she would understand what the big fuss about such a large queen egg was? Did the size of a queen really matter?

"Are you sure, Cepheith?" Narisa would feel terrible if Cepheith ended up snapping at Eliza and Velath (she had been working really hard to learn everyone's names!).

I am sure. Velath is good at learning about the days gossip. This was said with a sort of fond amusement. Her green sibling was a great go to dragon for information!

Sighing, Narisa nodded and angled after the pair. "Good day to you two, Eliza and Velath!" She called ahead, so Cepheith didn't just prance over and startle them. "We were heading towards the barracks and wondered if we might join the two of you?" Where her golden lifemate would have just walked up to start chatting, Narisa informed her it was at least polite to 'ask' if they may join them. Cepheith just wanted to chat.

Eliza was rather startled when she heard her name called out from behind her and turning about noticed that it was Narisa and her gold 'Velath!' She scolded her green mentally 'You should have told me the Jr. Weyrwomen and her queen were around!' It wouldn't do to slight someone so much higher ranking then herself, although Narisa had always seemed like a decent sort of person, at least so far as Eliza had heard anyways, having never actually spent much time with her other then perhaps a few candidate lessons here and there.

'I didn't know they were so close' Velath answered quickly turning about to croon a greeting at the gold 'I was paying to much attention to our own conversation' She continued on to Eliza before properly greeting Cepheith 'Good morning Cepheith, how are you and yours?'

"Hello!" Eliza greeted Narisa brightly, "Of course you can, we were just heading back that way from the feeding grounds"

Narisa smiled as she waved to the pair, making sure to give Cepheith a mental warning to 'slow down and not trample over the green pair'. The gold was excited though, something that made Narisa relax a bit. She'd been trying very hard to keep the young queen in check and help her through her confusion. <Don't harass Velath for information!>

Cepheith pranced over with Hers quite cheerful now. Good morning to you too, Velath! We are alright. I believe I've stressed Mine out just a little. The gold admitted a little sheepishly. This news of the Benden clutch confuses me. Well, not the clutch, but all this talk of the large queen egg. Have you heard anything interesting regarding it?

"Awesome! And I apologize in advance if Cepheith...seems irritated at all." She gave a small smile, glancing at the gold. "Though she seems to have cheered up greatly having spotted Velath." Narisa glanced at Eliza. "She's confused about why there is so much talk about the Benden queen egg. Or more specifically, what difference it makes on how large the gold is. I've been doing my best to try and help her, but I have to admit not even I know the answer to that one." And, if she was being honest, Narisa didn't really care. She had Cepheith and loved her gold just as she was. No larger than average gold would make her feel otherwise.

"You don't by chance know a bit more about Benden than the rumours being spread around, do you?" She asked curiously. "I'm still sort of new to the Weyr's in general. I've heard things about Benden though. So far, nothing good." And she did want to find something good about the Weyr. It didn't feel right to make judgments about Benden when she didn't know enough about them.

Velath for her part was completely overjoyed at the Queens excited approach, who could possibly be better to gossip with then a gold? And perhaps there was a bit of vanity there as well, it wasn't every green that a gold decided to pay attention to right? Tipping her head slightly Velath tried to recall what she had heard on the feeding grounds - which thankfully was still fresh enough in her mind that she hadn't started to forget it yet. 'Our lifemate's are easily stressed I think, mine is saying I stress her out all the time and Halith's is always fussing at her for one thing or another' The green responded pleasantly to the gold 'But the older riders at the feeding grounds were saying that it's not just the gold egg that large but all of the eggs in general. They say there is a great number of them too, I do not understand all the excitement either - it is large yes, but gold eggs are always large. I doubt that it is as pretty as your egg was' She added on ad though suddenly aware that her gold hatchmate might be just a tad jealous of all this talk.

Eliza laughed slightly, sidestepping a bit to keep from being stepped on by the larger gold who went right into conversation with Velath. "It's fine" She assured Narissa "I'm sure the bronzes are equally perturbed at all the talk" She told the other rider "But really I don't think they need to worry, a dragon is a dragon and regardless of size this one won't be able to do anything more then your gold can" And anyways the Trine hatchlings would always have them in the experience department since they were older then this recent clutch would be.

"I've heard that there is a lot of tension between the Weyrs, but Benden has never really gotten along with either us or Malvren. Differing thought patterns I suppose and I'm not sure if you were here for the whole Mystweed thing..but its common knowledge that Benden has most of it and people say the weed has something to do with the clutch size and the egg size....though who knows if that's true or not."

Cepheith snorted in amusement. Yes, she had definitely noticed their lifemate's were stressed easily. Especially when it came to the care of dragons such as themselves. Silly humans! The gold had faith in Hers. Agreed. They are easily stressed, though they really have no need to be when it comes to us. Mine seems to stress quite a bit when I become too energetic. The young queen flicked her tail in amusement. All of the eggs? I hadn't actually heard much on that. Maybe a brief comment here and there. I do wonder if it is all true or just human talk? She tilted her head towards her hatchmate curiously, a warm feeling rolling through her thoughts at the compliment about her egg. She really didn't think there was much difference between any of their eggs, but she DID appreciate Velath's effort to make her feel a tad bit better about all the 'massively large Gold egg' talk. Thank you. She added in.

Narisa shot Cepheith a mental 'careful!' as the young queen as she made her way next to Velath. "Sorry again." She murmured, thankful that Eliza didn't seem to mind. "I...didn't think on that, to be honest. It might help make Cepheith feel better telling her the bronzes are probably having similar thoughts." Narisa offered Eliza a smile. "That's what I keep telling myself. And Cepheith. I mean, I do understand that a larger dragon might trump their smaller counterparts in stamina during flight. But other than that...?" There really wasn't anything else she could think of.

She felt better, hearing what her fellow riders thoughts were on this. And it gave her more insight as to what the relationships between the Weyrs was like from a riders stand point. Narisa still planned on finding more out about Benden and even Malvren when she could.

"I was not, actually. Came in just after. Err, well more like the tail end of it. Was pretty confusing for a Holder to come to the Weyr then." But she'd gotten a crash course on Weyrlife then. Where as now, she was taking things slower and learning with her gold bondmate. "Really? They have most of it? That is new information to me. Though, if I'm being honest, I didn't know much about Mystweed until recently, let alone which Weyr had more of it." Narisa nodded at the last. There was so much in the rumor going around that it was hard to discern what was actual truth and what might be a little exaggerated.

'They seem to think we are easy to break' Velath agreed with an amused tone to her voice. Dragons were strong - stronger then the humans who cared for them for the most part - except perhaps for their atypical siblings but even they were more then capable of playing without injury for the most part, as long as they took time to rest when they needed to. 'I do not know, it is too bad that we do not know a Benden dragon to ask but many of the people we hear agree that all the eggs are large. It does not sound like any of them with be Atypicals and perhaps many will be bronze or brown, they also say that it has something to do with a plant' Though Velath wasn't really sure how a plant would affect eggs but she shrugged it off as something she simply didn't understand and while hers could likely explain it Velath simply wasn't interested enough in plants to bother pursuing it.

"I suppose stamina might be a factor" Eliza agreed after a few moments thought "But surely agility would suffer for it, it's probably a trade off in the long run" Nodding slightly Eliza tried to relay what she knew of the Mystweed "Well supposedly it's a plant that the herdbeasts eat and when the dragons eat the herdbeasts something in the plant affects dragon fertility, when it started to die off a while back then the clutches got smaller and there were less golds and bronzes being born. Once that was figured out they tried to get the farmers to grow it but it was hard to grow and harder to even find so some riders went back in time and brought back healthy samples from when the plant was doing well..and this old ancient crafter came around saying he knew how to make it grow..but he went to Benden and apparently he did in fact know how to make it grown and now they can grow it and we can't or something to that effect...of course he's disappeared now so really it's all just a big mess."

Cepheith snorted in amusement at her green counterpart. Yes. They do seem to think that. But then we grow bigger than them and it's us that worry about them. Or something like that. The gold knew that Hers would be strong and smart. So there was no need to be wary of her 'breaking'. However, their atypical siblings, now they probably warranted that sort of concern. But the young queen believed them all to be strong enough in their own ways. So worrying was simply a waste of time. They were all dragons, after all! I agree. There is so much confusion with all the information traveling around. It's hard to tell what is true. Though the agreed consensus seems to be that the eggs are indeed larger than usual. I guess we will just have to go with that for now?

Now there was something Cepheith did not understand. How could this other Weyr not have atypicals? The only thing she could think was that they let the dragons die and never find Theirs. It was sad, and made the gold's mood shift away from annoyance to something more grim. But the sweet thoughts she got that could only be from Her Narisa lightened even the grim mood. I wonder if Benden will ever have any of our Atypical siblings there? As for this Mystweed, Cepheith was not sure about how a plant could affect hers or any other gold or breeding crimsons fertility so much.

And speaking of 'siblings', What's the word on the rest of our clutch siblings? Or have you heard anything? I know I recently saw Neptanth and Lunath! They are doing well with Theirs.

Narisa nodded. "I think that sounds about right. They may be bigger and have more stamina, but would lose in the agility of the smaller dragons of their color." The vintner regarded Eliza as she explained what she knew about Mystweed. This was something that, surprisingly, Narisa had an easier time understanding then many other things she had been learning recently. Something she'd have to talk to her bonded about later. "I see. So it must have been when the riders returned from their trip back in time that I arrived. This ancient crafter though....I don't recall hearing about him before." At least she didn't think she had. Shards she was still working on names of important people to know and what their craft or rank was. "I wonder why he went to Benden? Is he a traditionalist as well? Or is there something about the Benden climate that helps the plant grow?" Something interesting to think about, for sure.

'Unless the other humans come up with more facts then I suppose we shall" Velath told the gold with a slight sigh - while she loved gossip more then most other things she did despair when those facts were incomplete or did not satisfy the question sufficiently. She brightened after a few moments however "But surely when they hatch we will know for sure and that won't be too far away"

Pondering the golds next question Velath shuffled her wings slightly and when the answer wasn't known to her she pinged the question to her's, of course the answer she got was not a pleasant one and the little green crooned slightly before Eliza reached out to rub her head slightly. "Mine says that they do not help them from their shells, perhaps if one was strong enough to hatch on it's own" She offered as a small silver lining. Thankfully Cepheith turned the conversation towards something far nicer and Velath was pleased to report on her fellow hatch mates "Halith is doing well..though her's is always telling her to slow down" She shared of her fellow green, Halith was the sibling she tended to see the most of given that their's were good friends.

"I'm not entirely sure" Eliza confided with a shrug "I imagine it had something to do with Weyr Politics though" Which was something that she supposed Narisa would know more about then she did, given her position as Jr Weyrwomen.

Cepheith tilted her head towards Velath before gently rubbing her snout along the green. That is alright. You gave me much more information. Thank you for that. And besides, not knowing everything means we have something exciting to look forward to learning! The gold shared in the same brightened mood her sibling did. Yes! We just have to wait for then. Or maybe some of the older dragons know more stuff. She mused, glad that Velath had cheered up again.

She was a little concerned when Velath didn't respond right away. Had she said something wrong? Well, she was known for saying what was on her mind, though the gold hadn't meant to offend if she somehow had. But she was relieved to discover that her green counterpart had only needed to ask Hers about it as well. They do not help them? That was...she didn't know what to think about this. It was yet another thing to roll over in her mind. A hand gently rested against her golden head and some comfort was brought to the young queen. Cepheith giggled. I don't think Halith can slow down. Nor would we want her to! I have to admit, I haven't seen as many of our hatchmates. This needs to be remedied at some point! She did like seeing her clutch mates a lot.

Narisa pondered this subject. She was curious now and felt it might be worth asking someone about. "Hmmm...well if I learn the answer, I'll be sure to share it with you." She smiled. "I admit, I'm still learning about Weyr Politics, so I am not able to say if that is true or not. Though it wouldn't surprise me from what I have heard." Shards, maybe she needed to start carrying around a small journal to write notes in on all the information she needed to look into.

Feeling need for a subject change, Narisa gave Eliza a curious look. "If you don't mind my asking, are you from the Weyr? Or were you Searched at a Hold?" She hoped it wasn't something rude to ask, but she was curious.
