This is a private roleplay between Sakngea [audio fiend] and Kiran [Kazu-chan].
Setting:
The sun bounces off the water at midday, and even though Autumn has already made signs of its presence, the day is warm and pleasant. The old wooden docks creak ever so slightly in a gentle fall wind, and the harbor is bustling with afternoon activity.

Ah, the fresh fall breeze felt pleasant against Sakngea's skin, and the sweet salty smell of the harbor was just as comforting as the smell of his mother's cooking, or Xiu's hair. The redhead smiled gently to himself at the thought of his close companion and recent lover. Just a few nights ago he had gotten to see Xiu, and it had been the best night he could remember. Of course, seeing Kiran this fine afternoon would hopefully be just as good.
Sakn leaned back- for he was sitting on the left side of the dock, his feet dangling above the lapping waves of the ocean -to look around one of the large wooden poles used to tie boats to, hoping to see Kiran making his way down the wooden planks. But there was no one familiar walking the docks yet, just fishers coming and going; children running this way and that playing games as their mothers shopped in harbor. Sakn huffed and made a face of impatience, before remembering-with a sudden pang of guilt -how long his friend must have waited here for him not too long ago.
He settled back down to wait, eyes drifting across the ocean, and after a moment more, he felt the itch of impatience under his skin again. Waiting had never been Sakn's strong suit, and even though he felt guilty for being impatient, the redhead had to do something while he waited! So he turned to his side and opened a wicker pack he had brought with him. From it he grabbed bait; a good lure and sinker and then slipped the pole itself from the corner of the pack.
Time passed rather quickly then, the repetitive, relaxing motion of casting and reeling easily calmed the anxious fighter, and Sakn didn't even bother to glance back again to see if Kiran was coming yet. Instead, he became engrossed in the crash of the waves, the smell of salt; the feel the bamboo rod he used for casual fishing.
Yes, he could spend an entire day fishing. Of course, fishing was always better with companions around. A small smile curved on Sakngea's face as he casted again, because really, he was very excited to see Kiran again. Their meeting at the wedding at been far too short a reunion for two wily thieves.

Kiran made his way down to the docks. He was running later than expected. But not by anything exciting like he would have preferred. When he got back to his apartment, he collapsed onto his bed and meant to rest his eyes for only a short while before heading out to meet up with Sakn like they had planned when they met up at the wedding. His short nap turned out to be for a couple of hours. While he felt well rested after the long nap, he couldn't ignore the guilt welling up inside him for being late and causing Sakn to wait for him
But Sakn had made him wait all that time when they made arrangements to meet last time.
He could hear his mother's nagging voice complaining at him about how that was no excuse to do the same to him. Kiran huffed at that. Even moving out of his family house didn't allow him to escape his mother's constant nagging. He knew all the nagging was because his mother wanted to raise him right, but it didn't make it any less frustrating in his opinion.
He just hoped that this wouldn't be a repeat of last time with him waiting at the appointed place for hours and Sakn not showing up. After pulling off that checkers scam, he thought they could become really good friends. He wasn't sure how he would feel if Sakn didn't come this time.
Kiran climbed down off the rooftop of a building closest to the docks. It was faster to travel jumping from rooftop to rooftop than trying to weave his way through the thick crowd clogging up the street. As he reached the docks, he started scanning the crowd for that familiar shock of red hair. The docks, as usual, were busy with vendors selling their goods and customers eagerly looking for the best deals on the best fish. He skipped around a couple of kids as they raced by, chasing each other and giggling. After a bit more looking, he spotted Sakn casting a line into the water.
"Catch anything good?" Kiran questioned as he took a seat beside Sakn.

Sakn stared calmly at the water, fading in and out of thoughts as they came to him, fins perked to the sounds of people moving about the dock. He was, not surprisingly, tuned to be alert at all times now. But it was hard to recognize or discern a specific pair of footsteps on such a creaky, wooden dock. Everything was ground together in a cacophony of noise.
Yet when Kiran separated himself from the scuttling of children and river of dockfolk, Sakn was completely aware that he had done so. It was a new skill he had picked up-albeit accidentally- during his skirmish with Hyun Chen and Sara, and perhaps thanks to Xiu's healing as well. But either way, the young fighter had found that lately that this new sense of feeling helped him from being snuck up on. Which had its uses.
The redhead smiled widely as Kiran spoke, and after reeling his rod in quickly, he set it aside and stood up to look his fellow troublemaker over. What he saw was impressive. The Kiran he had met before was still there; the glint of mischief in his eye was evident like before, but he was also different. Grown.
"Look at'cha! Gone 'n'changed on me," he teased, clapping Kiran on the shoulder. His eyes then drifted back to the sea and grinned, " 'N' I haven't yet, bu'that don't mean we won't before the day's out, righ'?" he kept his smile as he spoke, and motioned for Kiran to sit back down beside him. Once they were situated, he offered the single pole to Kiran. He hadn't exactly mentioned fishing to Kiran before, but it seemed like a good plan. They could easily share the rod and just talk.
And talk they would. Sakn had been busy since his return to himself, and if things went well, by the end of this day, he could have a close friend on his side. It would be useful to say the least. And no one would be better to have as his partner in this business then Kiran. Sakn had a good idea of character, and Kiran was smart, sharp and wily to say the least.
"Tell me 'ow things'f been," he started after a moment of thinking to himself. He wasn't going to bring up the absence- it was a time he preferred to glaze over and ignore now. The past was the past, right? At least when it came to his past.

"You went and changed on me too. I guess that makes us even?" Kiran laughed. Sakn definitely looked more grown up since the last time they met. Now that he could get a better look at the man without the crazy rush of pre-wedding activity. Sakn and Yue were related? That still blew his mind. He never would have imagined two of his best friends being related to one another.
"There's always something to catch if you wait long enough," he agreed as he accepted the rod that Sakn offered to him. If he had realized that they were going to be fishing, he would have brought his own rod, but he assumed that they were only meeting at the docks. But it was a good enough activity for catching up with someone. It didn't keep his attention distracted from the person beside him. After baiting the hook, he cast the line out into the water and began the wait for a fish to be lured to him.
Where was he to start with that? So many things had happened since that last time they met, wedding excluded. "Well, I'm living on my own now," he explained, gazing out over the water. "So I've been keeping busy with work and missions." He rolled his shoulder in a shrug like it wasn't anything special. He didn't really think it was. He wasn't the only that had gotten his own place after graduating from the academy, he was sure.
Kiran tore his gaze from the horizon to glance over at Sakn. Where did you go? The question lingered in his mind, but he wasn't sure if he should out right demand an answer from Sakn. If Sakn really wanted him to know, he would just say it on his own, wouldn't he? "What about you?" he asked instead. "Yue's your sister? You definitely have to tell me about how that all came about." He was just as curious about how their relation to each other was discovered as he was about why Sakn disappeared on him.

Sakn grinned at Kiran’s poke about his own personal changes, and then let the conversation slide as the other man cast the line. They watched for a moment, waiting patiently for a bit, and then Kiran continued to speak. The redhead found respect for his friend living on his own, it was a big step to leave the family. In Sakngea’s village, family never moved out, unless they planned to follow different paths then that of a fisherman or midwife usually. His own family had owned their home for many generations, and Sakn planned on one day calling it his own when his mother and father were gone. Not that that would be anytime soon if the redhead could help it.
And work! Sakn’s eyes brightened and he asked curiously, “Where y’ workin‘ at?” before letting the other man continue. The comment on Yue made him smile wider, and the redhead shrugged. “She kinda sprang it on me suddenly. Buh uh, her ma ‘n’ my da musta met at some point I s’pose,” he scratched the back of his head and grinned foolishly, “I didn’ much question it. M’da admitted to it, ‘n’ I figure tha’s all that really matters, y’know? ” He paused then, mulling over the other fighter’s first question. There were many things that had happened to the redhead- most of them things he never wanted to relive. But there was something important he wanted to bring up the his Noble friend. “Lot’s happened; trainin’ mainly, but I did finda nice job,” he wasn’t quiet sure how to start the idea forming in his head, so Sakn took a pause, scratching his chin, and then continued-as if the mention of his job was not important at all(in reality he hoped to catch Kiran’s interest and get the man to ask him about it instead of the other way around), “D’ya ever do any mischief-makin’ any more?” It made his soon to be revealed proposition easier to express if he got them onto the track of mischief and a little criminal attitude. Hopefully when he offered up his plan to Kiran, the young man would agree.

"Well, I still sell fish at the docks, but now I'm also working with Bojing the boat builder," Kiran answered. He felt a tug on the line and started reeling in the fish, watching that it didn't manage to get away. "Eventually, I'm going to have boat of my own to go out sailing on." That thought brought a smile to his face.
Kiran's brow lifted high in surprise. It must have come as a big shock when Sakn first learned about Yue being related to him. Kiran didn't know how he would react if he learned his father had had another child with a woman other than his mother. But it was probably good that Sakn's father hadn't tried to lie about the relationship. "And now you have a half-sister," he said as the surprise melted away. "And Yue's great! And now you have Jianyu as a brother-in-law, and he's not bad either, for a Legionnaire."
He nodded, knowing how much time training could eat up. Kiran brought in the fish and removed it from the hook. It wasn't a very big fish, but it wasn't horribly tiny either. He passed the rod over to Sakn. "What kind of job?" he asked, eyeing Sakn with curiosity when he didn't say anything more about the job. A grin sneaked onto his face as a mischievous light sparkled in his eyes. "From time to time," he laughed. "But they haven't all worked out as well as that scam we pulled together." He rubbed at his jaw, still remembering that powerful blow that Van had landed when he tried to steal her necklace.
