Chanda's Conjuration grade was slightly less depressing than her divination grade, but it still left something to be desired. While she didn't need a tutor (thanks to her teacher barring her from even attempting any more healing or creation spells for everyone's safety) she did need something to boost her grade, and apparently being an intern to a well-respected healer would boost it by a whole letter! And while "average" associated with a C didn't sit too well on her tongue, it definitely had a better taste than the "below average" D she currently had.
Besides, this intern work gave her a legitimate excuse to get out of Makai. And while she would rather be doing her interning at Moonfall so she could sneak a visit with her brother, she appreciated the change in scenery nonetheless...even if it was her old hometown.
The thought sent a shiver up her spine, but she blocked the past memories from pushing through her mental floodgates. As long as she stayed away from her old home she'd be fine. Erebus had agreed with her, and an empath's assurance was the best support she could have asked for. Not to mention, the directions she was given all but assured she would remain for away from that abode of nightmares.
As she walked into the shopping district Chanda was a bit thrown by how comfortable the residents seemed to feel around her. After being told that the students at Makai eyed her like a strange creature roaming their school grounds (and perhaps she was?) these people didn't seem all that phased by the presence of a Mononoke. "Do other Mononoke live here? Is that why people don't gawk at me? Maybe my Divination teacher is here..." But before she could be distracted enough by her thoughts to wander off to search for other Mononoke she had one right in her line of sight! And right in front of the shop she was supposed to go to. "Nahīṁ, nahīṁ tarīkā hai... (No, no way...)" she whispered so soft her words blew away on the breeze. "Ah, excuse me," Chanda jogged over to the pale woman in white, "would you be Miss Kiarei?"

When she had first received the letter from Makai she had been rather perplexed and, briefly, she had wondered if, perhaps, the carrier pigeon they had sent had been befuddled somehow. Despite that she had sighed and gotten to work setting up a cot for the girl to sleep on in her home. She had even written out a set of rules for her and gotten her her own mug for tea in case she was a tea drinker. When she went out to tend to her garden the day the student was supposed to arrive, everything was prepared for her internship.
It was a good day for being outside. While the sun was out and bright, the temperature was moderate, a nice cool breeze easing the daytime heat. It felt good to be tending to her herbs again, to be working the earth. When she finished she straightened and moved to wash her hands in a basin nearby that she had filled earlier. She was gently running her wet fingers over her cheeks, reveling in how cool they were when she heard a voice.
Turning, Kiarei blinked, ears perking as she stared at the girl that stood before her, her tail stilling behind her. Slowly her wide red eyes roamed over her, noting the round ears, the slender tail. Mentally she went over the options of what creature she was before noticing the stripe markings in her hair. Finally she offered a slow, warm smile and gave a small nod at the girl before her; a tiger mononoke, was it?
"Yes. I am Kiarei. You must be Chanda." Kiarei murmured, gently wiping the water from her hands on her kimono and offering one to her. "Welcome. I received notice that you'd be coming and I have everything set up for you. This way."
Gesturing for the Academy student to follow her she headed towards her home, tail swishing behind her. Opening the door, she held it for the other girl and let her enter before closing it behind her. Smiling she gestured at the cot she had set up for her; Kiarei's house was rather small after all.
"This is where you'll be sleeping... I'm sorry it's so small. My home isn't very large." she murmured, giving her a small sheepish smile. "You can put your things down over there next to that cabinet."

Chanda took Kiarei's hand with a little more force than was probably expected from a young lady. "Yes, I am Chanda." Erebus, her alchemia, gave a little bow of his head in greeting as well. "And this is Erebus. I...hope you do not mind his presence? He insisted he come along." The words were said a bit tersely as she had likewise insisted she keep guard of her dorm room.
As Chanda followed her mentor she took in the surroundings that would be her temporary abode. It was small, some would even say cramped, but the place felt cozy, warm, and welcoming. "It's fine, I do not mind small spaces. Besides, your home is very pleasant." Erebus obediently settled next to his owner's belongings, though his eyes showed that he really really wanted to explore Kiarei's home.
"And while I am here to assist you in your business as a healer I am more than happy to do other work should it be required as I understand having another person living with you can cause some...difficulties?" Was that what her brother had said for her to say? Maybe it was hardships? "Ugh...Mujhē āśā hai ki maiṁ ṭhīka sē vinamra jā rahā hai hūm̐...(I hope I am being properly polite...)"

Kiarei glanced over at the man Chanda had brought with her and her ears flattened slightly in wariness. She hadn't been made aware of the fact that there would be more than one person staying within her home, thus she was slightly caught off guard. However she doubted that there would be much choice in the matter thus she forced a smile and nodded as she led them both inside.
"Oh, thank you." Kia smiled, folding her hands before her as she glanced around. "It isn't much but I hope you'll enjoy it while you're here."
She glanced warily at the guard before she moved to her fireplace and lit it with a quick gesture of her hand. She then took one of the large kettles she had and began to carefully fill it with water, preparing to make tea. That done she placed it over the fire on the hook made for specifically that purpose before turning back to the Witchling Mononoke, ears perking.
"I'm sure your presence will be a great help, Chanda." Kia reassured, smiling warmly before tilting her head in curiosity. "Though I couldn't quite make out what you said towards the end, I'm sorry."
