It was the first peaceful night in this new environment they had been summoned againgst their will. Last night had spent with fightning the monstrous space whale from who they had luckily managed to escape. Or maybe it had got tired to fight pesky humans who refused to give up. Either way, the result was the same. They had flown by the side of princess Chronos' castle where they were staying for now.
Others were asleep but there was one person still up and wide awake. Jade couldn't rest like others, not when she knew others were asleep and there was no one to keep watch. So, she had decided to take that task for herself.
She was outside, leaning againgst one of many trees that had been growing here for centuries. Her light turqouse long hair was not tied up like usual but instead flowing againgst the tree and her fair body which was mostly covered by a white ancient-styled nightgown that she had found from one of the rooms and was now borrowing as her own clothes weren't dry yet. Her deep brown eyes scanned the night sky, ready to spot anything unusual.

Grant was staying positive. He was exploring things, but only if other people were with him. He never really did the whole 'strike out on his own' thing, per se. It wasn't his style, and he didn't feel he needed to seek the world beyond him, as the world he was in was always more than interesting enough.
And anyway, he liked being around people. When he was alone, he was... well.
Alone.
It seemed he was acclimating well to this strange place, by all outwards appearances. He was learning, minding his manners, being helpful, doing everything he can to return the favor to these nice people that were taking them in and keeping them sheltered despite all these crazy mishaps.
Roll with the punches, never lose track of the silver lining.
He was resting quietly when he heard some shuffling. Opening his eyes, groggy, he saw a shadow slip away and made to follow. He thought maybe someone was sick, and had to go outside, or someone was upset. If it was trouble, he didn't think about it off the bat.
Self preservation wasn't exactly his forte.
Finding Jade outside, he tilted his head and moved toward her, offering a hum before he spoke.
"Are you alright, miss?" He asked, sounding hopeful. "Not bad dreams, I hope? Or am I interrupting you? I'm sorry if I am!"

Jade had noticed Grant coming. It was hard to not to, they were the only ones to make any sound in the silent garden. There was no sound of bugs, not even of the wind. And Jade had been ready for any new sounds, so...
Silently, the young woman turned her head and for a moment just looked at the man that had decided to accompany her. There was no smile at her face but she didn't look angry either.
"No, it's nothing like that," she said quietly and a little reassuring smile formed on her lips. "Don't worry."
She then turned her head to look around the environment again.
"I'm keeping the watch."

Grant noticed her expression, his own falling slightly. He felt bad for her, immediately, and he moved to her side, reaching out to put his hand on her arm. But he paused, in case he might surprise her out of her thoughts.
He didn't want to scare her and she looked pensive enough. He wasn't a creeper, after all. Or he didn't try to be.
"You're keeping watch? That's a very nice thing of you to do. Did they assign you to that duty? Do you need help?" He was always full of questions, but always ones that he hoped would let him help someone. In this case, he had the inclination to make this sad looking woman smile.
She seemed to need something as simple as company. Or maybe he was way off. She would tell him so, surely, if she was.
"Are you tired? I could get you a chair."

Jade wasn't loud person. Her voice was usually as quiet as it was now in normal life as well. It was not typical to her to talk a lot either. She was the one who enjoyed silence and simple things in life, not needing much to keep her content.
She turned to look at her companion curiously, her brow raising a little. Grant was almost like a child, full of questions and certain kind of excited energy even though she had met more push-forward people. At least, he had some sense of tact to give her some personal space. Jade appreciated that.
"I guess you could say that. That I'm nice, that is." There was a little smile on her face. Compliment was always a compliment and even though she didn't show it clearly, it had warmed her heart a little. Soon, her expression got serious again though.
"I just can't relax when there is a potential of danger out there."
There was a sigh and certain kind of determited look on her face when she turned to scan around the environment with her eyes.
"I think I can handle this on my own. I'm not tired..... But I'm not chasing you away if you want to keep watch as well. Four eyes can see more than two, after all."

Grant didn't like to think about danger. He didn't like thinking about people in danger. In fact, he would be perfectly happy if no person ever got into danger at any time, for any reason, with any cause. If he could just believe that everything would always work out for the best, and no one had to be hurt for no reason, then he could get through anything just fine.
And that was what he tried to do.
"You're right about that. I'll help you," he said, smiling. She had asked him to, or close to it, so he would keep watch until he couldn't keep his eyes open any more, or she told him she was done and he could go. He was very complacent, and easily followed anyone who displayed half a modicum of leadership ability.
Mostly, the things he followed weren't orders so much as passing comments or suggestions, but there was hardly a difference, if someone needed help and he was there to do it.
"I think we'll be safe here," he offered, in an effort to soothe her, "there are such nice people here, and they take care of us. They seem to be in control, more than we are. If we trust in them, they won't let us down."
