It was still a rare occurrence to find the young pirate outside of his pride borders. After his encounter with the young Viking, Omari was considerably more cautious now and he hoped to never meet one of those damned sons of a storm again.

Only a couple of hours ago, he had walked along the shoreline only to spot a young lioness in the water. She had left a large pretty shell in the sand so Omari had sneaked up on it and grabbed it. He didn’t think he’d been spotted so he hadn’t ran very far and he was now admiring his new trinket with a satisfied expression, out of sight but still comically close to the spot where the theft had occurred.

While the male was worried of unwelcomed run-in's, a maturing lioness was welcome to any sort of interaction. It'd been awhile since she'd roamed off from her mother, intentional or not even she wasn't sure. She loved the female who'd raised her, but... her time to 'leave the nest' had come at an early age. Wandering the various lands had become a natural ritual for her, spirit settling comfortably into a nomadic lifestyle. It wasn't really often that she'd meet others for extended periods of time, and even less that she'd actually converse with them. Her social side of life mostly consisted of a few passerby's giving scowls, nods, or a brief glance. It didn't irk Tisztess, but she was curious to what a decent conversation might hold. But no matter... she had a new goal in her midst, to head towards an area yet to be discovered, but for now... she was taking a short detour. Paws placing after one another softly, tail just barely hovering above the barren grounds, the blue coated female leisurely strolled to the enticing sound of lapping water, a small string with a tiny shiny gold disc. Ears swiveled and perked forward, she followed its call almost as if in a trance, a very lax and gentle expression on her already carefree features. Upon arriving to the long extended body of water, she was immediately entranced by its glistening and swaying waves, the sun playing so gracefully along the rises and falls. As she grew to a slow and eventual stop, her attention was so focused on the liquid before her that she had completely missed the male not too far down the shore. Finally, lowering her head, she placed the small treasure before her front paws, she also took advantage of the movement to sniff at the creeping water, tongue flickering out once to test it, and finally fell into a calm pattern of lapping, even allowing deep onyx eyes to ease close.

Omari saw the blue lioness moving closer to his location but he really didn’t reserve much attention for someone who was not part of the pride. Well, at least that's how he felt until he spotted something gold glimmering at her paws. Oooooh, now that was an amazing little thing, wasn’t it? So shiny…

He eyed his shell. Then the lioness’ trinket. The shell. The trinket. The shell… the darn shiny trinket.

A double theft might be pushing the limit but Omari simply couldn’t resist it. Slowly, he crawled closer and closer, for once glad that his dark mane wasn’t yet fully grown. Watching his intending target carefully, he realized she had closed her eyes. Knowing that he didn’t have much time before his scent reached her nostrils, Omari moved a little quicker and promptly pulled the string – and the gold disc attached to it – from the lioness. Oops, he was pretty sure she’d felt that.

Such cool and refreshing water this was. It held such a unique taste to it as well. One she hadn't come across in some time. It must be a sea thing. The one's she'd sampled from always had this independent solution. While she was calmly dining on the splendid water, she hardly gave much note or sign to know that the male was indeed approaching. She heard just a few light shiftings, but really didn't give much mind to it. Perhaps just a passing by lizard, or a little flock of birds playing about in the shrubbery. But it became more apparent that it was not so simple as that....

As the pirate began his course of action, Tisztess remained fully engrossed with her drinking. It wasn't until she felt something graze against her speckled paw that her lapping took a slow cease, and those deep black eyes fluttered open. Seeing the glint had disappeared from below her, she only blinked at the small divot of where it once was, before her head calmly turned to spy the golden boy. Staring at him a moment, observing, a light smile finally graced her lips, as a pink tongue cleaned them briefly, "Oh, hello there. I thought you might have been a bird." she giggles very faintly, before continuing with a rather prolonged pause, "Have you come for a drink as well." it does take a minute or two, but she finally notices the trinket now in his possession, making her ears swivel forward curiously, "Oh, why do you have that?" she asks in a rather... interested tone.

Omari was caught in a comical mid-step, wondering if he should stay or run. He wasn’t particularly interested in being chased - by a girl - all the way back to his pride. He would become the laughing stock! Obviously he wasn’t going to give her trinket back either just because she’d noticed him – but he really needed to become as good at sneaky moves as Ambrosio, the new pirate. Maybe he could ask the leopard for a few tips later. He felt confident enough that he could handle himself if it came to a physical fight with a girl his age but he didn’t want to linger in this location for too long lest the blue lioness have some friends or family in the area.

Ignoring her last question as if that could make her forget the theft altogether, the sand colored lion eyed the blue girl with a confused expression.

“Drink? You can’t drink that water. It’s the sea, it’s salt water.” But obviously she would know that…right? Everyone knew that! He thought she was just playing around, getting her nose wet or something. She didn’t actually drink it, did she?

Lucky for him, Tisztess was in no mind-set of chasing after him. Not in the slightest. She simply watched the dangly in his possession, rather impressed to a point from her not even feeling his presence so close! Well... not until the last minute.. and of course, she didn't press the matter of the ignored question. If he didn't want to answer, then he didn't want to. It wasn't in her nature to pursue. Unless she was highly captivated. And that certainly was not the case.

Tail flicking, eyes blinking slowly, she simply remains smiling, gaze taking its time to drift slightly towards the water beside them. "Oh. I know it's salt water. I can taste it. " she pauses, and looks back at him, "But it's not so bad. It's a strange taste, wouldn't you say?" perhaps it wasn't good to consume a mass amount, but she liked to expand her palette, and try new things. Just a little wouldn't hurt.

Omari eyed the lioness, disbelief clear in his eyes. He had never been one to be particularly gentle with females - with the possible exception of his mother and occasionally his sister who had of way getting to the softer side of the sand colored lion. As such, even though it might be seen as rude, he was completely honest and blunt in all his observations.

"Strange taste?" while he was rather relieved she didn't seem to care about her missing trinket, her words were just too strange to someone who had lived all his life by the sea. "It wil make you throw up and make your stomach all weird. Are you stupid or something?"

The water began to splash up against the tips of her paws, causing her attention to deter a bit from her current company, and watch as her fur was darkened with the dampness. But it didn't last too long as the pirate continued on speaking, her onyx black eyes lifting to meet his.

She stared for a good long while, a smile reappearing on her face, followed by a very feathery, and soft giggle that lasted not all that long. "Oh, I don't think I am. Does one become stupid by taking a taste of this salty water?" she asks in a semi-innocent fashion. Of course she didn't drink it religiously, or even that much. It was just weird, and intrigued her quite a lot. Glancing back to the calm waves pushing and pulling, her eyes lowered to a half-mast position, "I've never thrown up before by tasting it." she pauses, and looks to him, "Have you?"

Omari looked positively dumbfounded, looking straight into those dark eyes as if he was looking for something.

“I was raised in a beach so we knew better.” He said coldly, the mere thought of becoming sick on account of something as stupid as drinking salt water annoying beyond words. “Only rogues and new members get sick because of something like this.” It was then that he realized that he was being a little arrogant… perhaps. Obviously not everyone was born and raised near the ocean. His world was still too small if he could forget that some lions had never even seen the sea.

“Anyway, don’t drink any more of it.” Omari added awkwardly. He lifted one paw to turn away from the blue lioness but he hesitated, letting it dangle midair. She was so strange! And she was really getting to him for some reason. “You’re not alone, are you? You shouldn’t be alone.”

Her cupped round ears were fully attentive, aimed straight at the male. "raised on a beach.." she repeated softly. she did it more so for herself, a small sign of her interest, and slight impressed state. And with that, her features molded into a soft expression, smile sincere, "How amazing.." she murmurs, that deep gaze drifting off once more to the restless ocean that resided beside them. It always spoke to her, called to her... entranced her. To think that there were those who were birthed here, and grew up with it... she couldn't help but be slightly envious, but closer to being stuck in awe.

Though... his ending comment made her train of thought halt, and ears twitch as a curious idea came to mind, "I've not gotten sick by it... does that mean I am a... " her sentence cuts off, "what does that mean I am?" she asks... obviously oblivious to the very thought of a pride being near the ocean. "Am I like you?" as usual her tone was innocent, and nothing but intrigued.

Nodding in response to his reprimanding, she gave a mental apology to the ocean for her negligence. It was mostly in play, but also held a slight seriousness as well. It was his final question that made her snap out of her thoughts once more, and look over at him. That usual smile was on her face, a mixture between forced, lax, and sad. It was an odd look, to some nerve-wracking. "Oh, I'm always alone." she responds in... well not a cheery manner, but a sweet sort of texture. Not confident or cocky, but not delighted and overdone. "Really? How come?" head canting to one side, the lioness awaits her answers, ready to absorb them.

Omari was finding that this was the strangest conversation he’d ever had – probably because he’d never met anyone quite like this blue lioness. He couldn’t quite grasp her logic.

“It means you didn’t drink enough.” Or you have a stomach made of metal. He wouldn’t say that last part aloud, no. He had a feeling she might actually believe him. Had he been more childish, he would’ve come up with a big elaborate lie to tell the blue lioness but Omari couldn’t be bothered with such things. She looked too gullible and she seemed to share his appreciation of the sea and that at least seemed to close the distance between Omari and this complete stranger.

She was nothing like him though! Hardly pirate material. And a bit too loony to be a corsair even though some might actually find her odd personality endearing.

“You’re not even fully grown. There are many dangers in the rogue lands so you should just join a pride.” Wasn’t this common sense?! Everyone knew that! Omari let his paw slide just a bit, getting the sand off his new trinket as he readied himslef to pick it up. It was clearly his, he had taken it fairly and she hardly seemed bothered by it. “There are creatures that wouldn’t hesitate to hurt a lone lioness for no reason. Lions, leopards, hyenas, you name it. So you shouldn’t be alone, especially if you’re a girl.”

{Not a problem! }

Oooh.. so that was why. Glancing back at the licking water, that was acting rather playful, the lioness sort of debated if she should try more just to see how much was too much... but she was distracted by her newfound company's next set of words.

Settling her eyes back on him, it suddenly became apparent to her that he was wearing some rather... strange items.. what on Earth were those? Without giving much more thought, she moved closer to him, head residing rather close to the side of his, staring intently at the red strip of cloth draped fashionably along his head. Her gaze traveled it up and down, as if trying to make sense of it all. She looked further down to spot the bands along his legs. What could those be for? Did they serve some sort of great importance? What did they mean...? Getting lost in her own thoughts, she almost totally missed his lecturing, nosing at the bangles along his arm a few times, tenderly of course, before blinking up at him, lifting her head back to his height. Wearing that same lax expression, she gave the faintest of giggles again, which only lasted for a few seconds; three, tops. Head canting just a smidge, she simply stared at him... well more so, through him. "You know a lot, Speckles." she replied in her gentle tone. "I've never been in a pride before... I hear there's many of them... how do I know which one to choose..." her questions sounded more like just statements trailing off than anything. Mostly just talking aloud, eyes drifting off. But she did give pause before asking her next question, once more letting those deep obsidian gems return on her pal, "Being a girl matters?" another pause, "are male's less likely to get hurt than us?"

“Oi oi.” Omari leaned back as she moved closer but he didn’t step away. Her behavior baffled him almost as much as her words. And why did her questions always get under his skin?

“If you like the sea, just keep following the shoreline and you’ll find other prides. Don’t go in that direction ‘cause that’s where the Vikings live and they’re pretty mean. And don’t follow me!” There was no way that he was going to give her a full explanation on why girls had to be more careful! He felt his body getting warmer just thinking about it. He decided to talk to the blue lioness as if she were a very young cub and he picked up the new trinket in his mouth which caused his voice to become slightly muffled. “Listen. Guys are usually bigger than girls and some guys like to hurt girls. And some guys want.. ah.. to get girls pregnant. So be careful, go away and join a pride or something.” Gods, what the hell was he talking about?! He lifted one paw, pretty much ready to flee in case she had any more weird questions.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2011 4:26 pm

By now she was staring at the earring laddered on his ear... completely floored by them. How did those get there? Did it hurt? Did they come out? Staring rather intently at them, she leaned up to one of his ears to nose along the dangling loop, ears flipping forward in surprise to see that it stayed in place, "Why... are those there..." she murmurs, voice trailing off... again, mostly just talking to herself. She was even debating on if she wanted them on herself too. But how was one even supposed to get such a strange object into an ear?! Did someone bite it...?

But as usual, she was lifted from her daydreaming and back into reality as he spoke more, eyes shifting down to the trinket now in his mouth. Smiling at it, watching as it swayed back and forth, glinting once in awhile as light caught it, she waited a long while before replying, "What one are you in?" she asks, and gives another long pause, "Oh." her eyes lift to his, smile still intact, "Are you one of those kinds of guys?" ...and another pause, a few blinks to bat, "I hope you don't want to hurt me. Or get me pregnant." a soft giggles escapes once more, "I don't even know if I could raise cubs properly." and then a sudden thought came to her, "Have you already gotten girls pregnant? And hurt them?" her voice was in a whisper now, almost as if she didn't want someone to hear.

Omari took one step back, feeling incredibly uncomfortable about this awkwardly close inspection of his trinkets. “Oi, don’t touch me.” He grumbled quietly, looking more surprised than angry. “And it doesn’t matter where I’m from, you’re not going there.”

“I am NOT!” Omari jumped back so brusquely that it might seem the lioness had a deadly contagious disease. “I DON’T! I DIN’T!” He looked both annoyed and offended. Honestly, as if a “bad guy” would answer her truthfully… and no, if there was one thing he could agree on is the fact that she shouldn’t have any cubs. One of her was more than enough. “What kind of question is that?! Are you crazy? You don’t just ask something like that!” Actually, why on earth was he answering still? Perhaps he was the crazy one.

“Look. Go in that direction, find a nice pride and settle down. Goodbye.” He turned to leave, the trinket being tightly held in his mouth. After the weirdest conversation of his life, he didn't the least bit guilty. In fact, he felt like she owned him something still. Before running off, he looked back with his head held high and because he was still feeling pretty irritated about the whole meeting, he couldn’t help but to add a little snide remark. “I’ll take this. It’s mine now.” That’s when he started running, hoping to the Gods she wouldn’t try to follow him.
