CENTRAL MARKET
ALL THE WORLD, AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX READY YOUR COIN PURSES LADIES
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOutside the main Citadel is a main walkway, always full of people. It's actually two levels, an
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXupper level leading directly into the citadel itself, and a lower level, leading into the living area
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof the lower level. Both levels are wide, two-sided walkways. It's divided much like a road would
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbe to contain the constant flow of traffic. Especially with the occasional horse trotting through,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcarrying someone from the far side of the island. The stands come in a variety of shapes and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXsizes and items being sold. From fabric covered stands meant to be broken down at the the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXend of the day, to permanent little shops on the lower level setting up stalls in front of their
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbuildings. You can easily find your morning meal along the upper section, several street venders
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmaking fresh food every morning. It isn't uncommon to find large crowds in the morning and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXaround lunch time just sitting around at tables and on benches, eating away out of wooden and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXceramic bowls.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXEverything available for purchase in Mistwick can be found along these stretches of white stone
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXroad. The place always smells of freshly prepared, baked, or picked food, and it always has a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXconstant hum of activity.

THE CITADEL
THE HEARTBEAT OF MISTWICK

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX OUR YOUTH IS TO BE TAUGHT
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBeyond the marketplace is the Citadel. A massive complex made of stone, iron, and stained
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXglass. Thick, reinforced wood doors stand tall at the entrance, always open. Were they to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXclose it takes a team of iron horses to pull them back open. While Mistwick was always a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXscientific center, it was still built to withstand a siege. Inside the ceilings are high and rounded.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXButtresses stand inside and out, supporting the great weight of it. The windows are framed in
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXiron, intricate designs made in stained glass pouring multicolored light across the white stone
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXinterior. Corridors are wide to accommodate the constant flow of people. The complex sprawls
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXover much of the northern half of Mistwick, split into several different sections.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe east wing, roughly two or three city blocks, is dedicated to science. Alchemy, Botany,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAstronomy. Anything and everything really, even the best of the machine makers make this
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXsection their home. The center is devoted to the master laboratories and all those connected in
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXa spiderweb of doorways and corridors. Around it sits eateries, housing, both dormitory styled
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand privately owned homes, libraries, and various gardens.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe northern wing is the stratagem. War, her guards, her generals, and several of Gaia's chief
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwarriors spend their days here. They plan defenses for the city, they train their new recruits, and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthey wait. The buildings here are shorter than the others, the only building stretching into the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXskyline being a single mage tower. The grand wizard sits at top this tower, training new mages in
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe art of sorcery. Antiques litter the area, be it the furniture, the fabrics, or the people. Many of the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcurrent tutors in this section are rather "vintage" in the age department.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe West wing and the Southern entrance are smaller and mostly combined. Various gardens,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXdining halls, large, open spaces for celebrations or for gathering large groups. The West wing also
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXholds a lot of housing for the guards, their captains, and various mage students. Guards and trainees
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoften get housed lower to the ground, or along the citadel walls, the easiest places to get out into the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfray should an attack occur. Mages, young sorcerers, elementalists, and just about all of the master
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbattle mages find their homes inside the taller buildings. Healers are kept closer to the northern side
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand the stronger defenses, those training in battle kept closer to the guards. These two wings are also
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe most lively. Students running around classrooms and dining halls all day, sprinting their way up to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXclasses with the Master mage, or on to "practical battle training" with Yomer and War themselves. The
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhousing sections often smell of baking breads and bubbling stews. The cooks here spare no expense
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXto keep young Users healthy and fed, preparing for the day they may leave the walls of the Citadel and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXadventure out into a ruined world.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOld oak and mahogany are common flooring and furnishing materials in the whole of the Citadel. While
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe buildings themselves are often made of the same white stone as the rest of Mistwick, the inner buildings
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoften come with iron and solid woods. Each wing is decorated in their specific colors, to better help young
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXstudents navigate the halls. The North being deep burgundy like fine wine, the East holds itself up in golds,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe South in summer greens, and the West in royal blues. Each student or User is allowed to decorate their
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXown rooms how they see fit, but the majority of the "community furniture" is large and marker with use.

LIGHTHOUSE
TO GUIDE AND PROTECT

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX WHERE HAS OUR LIGHT KEEPER GONE?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIn center of the harbor, glowing bright as to guide lost travelers, sits the old lighthouse. For
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXyears it has guided the lost to safe haven, even before the Sundering, before the War even,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthen again, no one has been around that long to know otherwise. It's a tall white stone pillar
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof a building. Round and domed at the top, as with most buildings in Mistwick. Stones have
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfallen out of the masonry, vines growing into the signs of it, trees on the island having thrust
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthemselves into the side of some of the building in the midsection, yet still it stands, strong
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand tall as always. There have been some efforts to rebuild and fix the lighthouse, but they've
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXtaken a back seat to other housing efforts. Without a light-keeper living in the building it has
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbecome hard to keep track of the place, but few wish to live in such a lonely location. Being
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXaway from the mainland isn't very conducive to a social life. But regardless of a keeper or not,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe small orb of light, bright as a sun, still swims in a glass tank, painting it gold like honey.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhat the orbs is, and even if it's alive, is unknown, all that is known is that while it has been
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlit, the city of Mistwick has not fallen.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXLiving quarters for a future light keeper have withstood the weather and time better than the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlighthouse itself. Perhaps because they're newer. The roof does leak a bit during hard rains,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand the stove often vents smoke into the lighthouse itself, but with a bit of love and tender
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcare the place could be polished up to livable conditions.

THE GRAND FORGE // THE LIFE TREE
NEW LIFE IS BORN

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE ARKS OF OUR CIVILIZATION
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX((For you guys bent on understanding the science behind the magic, from a "scientific"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXstandpoint, they're Arks. They hold the DNA of every animal that has ever existed on
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthis world. The forge could be considered binary, while the tree is organic. They take
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXraw material and the user's magic/life force/whatever you want to call it, and combine
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXit with a piece of the Ark's archive to create a new being.))

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe Grand Forge is the last remaining Guardian forge for the Machine faction. While
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXscouts were sent in an attempt to find any others, all they found were hunks of metal,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXall the magic gone. Or worse, the entire location leveled from natural disasters. Because
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof this it's been moved into the depths of the main island, beneath the Citadel and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXguarded by the best the Machine Faction has to offer. War herself lives in the Citadel,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcasually watching and waiting for someone to even breathe too close to it. The Forge
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXRoom is a wide underground court, high arches and thick stone columns for support.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXA red carpet, streaked with burn marks, leads up to the staircase and the ledge at
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwhich all new Users throw in a hunk of raw material, and a bit of themselves. The forge
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXitself is nothing but a giant of a cauldron, perpetually full of white hot molten metals. A
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXrainbow of sparks often flies from it on occasion. Massive hinges hold it in place, and
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthen tip it over when a Guardian is born. It's rare that a new Guardian crawls out of the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXforge on their own power, but when they do, they tend to leave trails of burn marks
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXacross the stone and carpet. Gas lamps light the rest of the room, but that majority of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe light comes from the forge itself. Were it to ever dim, it would be easy to tell.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe Life Tree on the other hand is the original tree, or at least, a piece of it. Given the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnature of the Alchemy Faction, they were able to save a section of the original tree's
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXroot system and simply replant it. In the center of a large fountain in the glowing dome
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXatop the "home tree" on the southern island, sits the white barked Life Tree. Seed pods
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthat range from the size of a fist, to the size of a person, grow out of the trunk and off
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe branches. It's from these pods that new Guardians are born once a plant and a piece
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof the User is placed in the clear waters. The bark of the tree is golden, the leaves that
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoften litter the stepping stone walkway are gold, contrasting against the pale green pods.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe tree itself requires very little upkeep, just a regular clearing of leaves from the water
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXit sits in.

GLITTERING POOLS
NATURE HAS TAKEN OVER

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX GAIA HAS MADE HER MARK
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhen the Homunculi reached the island, they were given the mostly unused second island
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfor their temporary home. The Machine Faction had meant to rebuild the main island, build
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXup another neighborhood in Mistwick Proper. But Gaia and her User had other plans. With
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe assistance of some of their people a tree was planted. And oh did it grow.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIn the center of the island sits a massive tree, a glowing dome build into the space at which
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe branches curl away into the canopy. Walkways, homes, hanging gardens, and all manner
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof living space and working space exists within, on, and around the tree. In the network of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXroots rainwater and a Diverted river has collected into pools, teaming with fish and other small
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwildlife. The pools and the root system of the tree stretches the entire length of the second
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXisland, white stone archways, temples, and gathering squares pop up here and there, remnants
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof whatever stood on the southern island. The actual canopy of the tree stretches out for some
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXdistance, vines falling from the branches. It creates a spider web pattern that many a young
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUser and Guardian have spent their afternoons playing in. While the outside of the tree is the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmain attraction, that doesn't mean the inside isn't spectacular. Once inside the tree itself, under
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe glowing dome at the center, hanging like a sun, one notes that the tree isn't simply one tree,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbut several simply growing into each other. The hollow interior holds walkways, small quaint
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhomes, tiny gardens growing along the walls, and hundreds of strings of talismans, bottles of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXglow fish, ornaments, bells, and colorful wind chimes. It helps the the smell of good food, beautiful
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXflowers, and fresh air dominates the place. Many a Machine Faction have nearly been knocked
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXoff their feet by the sheer nature of it all.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXMost homes here are made of wood with thatched roofs. It's where those most in tune with
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnature like to make their homes. It isn't uncommon to find someone's garden and their home
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhave just about become one and the same. The rare stone building is often the rare Machine
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXFaction resident, a scientist wanting to study some botany, or scholar wanting to study the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhistory of this new people.

DRY DOCKS
A REFUGEE'S PARADISE.

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe Dry Docks, as the locals of Mistwick have taken to calling it, sits in a low valley along the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnorthern coast of the bay. Originally it was a graveyard for boats that carried in Refugees. They
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcouldn't just sit around the harbor forever. But when Mistwick proper was too busy rebuilding
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXitself to build new housing, the refugees made their own. Dry Docks was converted into housing.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXHouse boots, ships, coroners, everything in between. They were hollowed out, steadied at the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbases, and made into multi-level houses. Instead of small compartments, most decks are now
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXopen and furnished. Wooden desks and walkways connect all the ships together in various levels,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXstrings of lanterns hanging around doorways, under walkways, and between masts. Heavy fabrics
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXin bright colors and intricate patterns hang out of windows and over the sides of buildings, strings
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof beads double as doorways. The air itself smells of incense and home cooked meals. Markets
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXare loud and the whole place is alive, night and day. It's the definition of gypsy according to films,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbooks, and Disney cartoons.

OBSERVATORY // GRAND LIBRARY
CHARTING OUR SKIES AND RECORDING OUR KNOWLEDGE

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX WHERE OUR KNOWLEDGE IS KEPT
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOn the north side of the main island, alone on the cliffs, sits the observatory and it's attached
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXtowers. The Ceilings are all tall and vaulted, pillars and archways are common. The first floor
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhas marbled floors and white stone walls. Many of the West walls are new, simply because of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe storm knocking down the ruined second tower. The East Tower holds the Grand Library.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe center is open, different levels set off in tiers. The very top of the tower though is home to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthe newest Master Scholar. Archimedes and his un-grown Guardian Pluto. Watch for falling
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXteacups. The bookcases themselves are partially empty, mostly because of lost texts. Many
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXpeople live and work on the main floor of the observatory and it's nearly maze-like hallways.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXBut the second floor and its glass dome holds the telescope that many of the master scientists
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXuse to chart the stars. It's not as ornate as some of the complicated spires of the main citadel,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXbut it has its own charm. The statues dotting the place include some of the greatest scientists
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof the past five ages. Other decorative pieces in the back-garden are simply representations of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXvarious animal constellations. The "Back Garden" is actually a hanging garden-greenhouse
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXmounted to the side of the cliff. It's a common thinking spot for scientists taking shifts at the
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXobservatory. Countless flowers can be found, but also easily spotted is the pride and joy tea-
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXgarden. The life blood of many a Scholar.
