Akairo stood tall in the battlefield, unwilling to let his emotions get the best of him today. His eyes were wide, desperately trying to take in every detail of the fight while he prayed to the Gods that he wouldn’t forget his scout training and panic.
One of the twins was dead. There was still a missing cub. His mane not yet fully grown, he had less protection than that and grown lion but he was nearing adulthood and it was his duty to be a part of this fight, to protect the lands and everyone in them. His thoughts were on the missing girl but also on the nine cubs that had grown under his close watch. He would not let anyone hurt them.
It was just him today, no Twigg to watch his back or help him solve his problems but his determination didn’t falter. The battlefield was a mess, a world of chaos all around him. The smell of blood grew heavier with each passing moment and the sounds were terrifying. The adolescent roared, chasing away his own fears as he ran towards the heat of the battle.

"No sense en rushin'," the dull coated female muttered to herself as she snuck through the back of the field, trying to spot someone she could get the advantage on. Many of her boulder sisters had already charged in. Whether they were seeking honor or excitement Nomuula neither knew nor cared. Her own plans involved keeping the lions out of her homelands and living to see the next day. There wasn't a chance she'd risk sabotaging those plans by rushing in and risking facing off against an opponent she couldn't handle.
So far, it didn't seem to be her lucky day. Most of the lions who'd gathered for the battle appeared quite confidant and strong. Perhaps if it came down to the bones she could team up against a lion or rush in to aid a sister who'd bitten off more then she could handle. She was still considering holding back and aiding when things had turned more in her favor when she noticed a lone adolescent who had made his way into the fray.
She raised her head and looked about. Alone? Really? No full grown lion to watch his back? Maybe this battle wouldn't be so unfortunate for her after all.
Cackling to herself she once again lowered her head and moved in.

As Akairo searched for anything remotely similar to a target, his eyes locked on the golden gaze of a blue-ish grey hyena. He froze for a second before he realized that she was cackling while moving in his direction. Snarling, the adolescent lowered his head and stepped forward, taking careful note of the hyena’s scars (battle scars perhaps) as if they were a sign of an experienced fighter. He knew better than to charge in like an idiot but even so it was difficult to control his pace and keep his mind on the ultimate goal.
For Hima.
For Waridi. For the Pridelands.
Without much thought or reasoning – such things were not needed now that there was finally a target in sight – the young lion turned his steps into a ominous trot and as soon as he deemed himself close enough, like a hunter he sprinted towards the hyena, intent on lunging at the golden-eyed creature.
