A light wind roved through the boughs of the great pine that sheltered the Equi'Amiticia Herd. There were to be many meetings today, between brothers, mates and friends. Today was a day of new beginnings, old endings and the beauty of life. All this whispered from one breeze to another, and stuck in the middle of the torrent, was a loudly snoring stallion named Dark Tide.
"Tide you great oaf, wake up or you will give Thali nightmares again!" Dark Ion called loudly.
Tide snorted and stirred. "Must you yell Ion?" he lifted his head and looked around with a muzzy morning look on his face.
"Yes Ion I must yell or you will never wake up. Can you feel it?"
"Feel what?"
"The wind, it whispers..."
"Really? Maybe you should get Opal to check that out for you, hearing voices is not healthy in herd leaders or so I have heard."
"Your right it is probably nothing. What did we say we were going to do today?"
"Tease Enthallion to within an inch of his life?"
"Oh yes that."

Opal was no where to be seen around the tree. Which was unusual for her. If she had over heard the current conversation or knew the dealings about she would be scolding the brothers about wanting to tease Enthallion. But alas the mare had not been seen in two days. Which would be a rise in the concern of Ion being he was her mate. Perhaps the two brothers had been to busy with their teasing to realize there was a missing mare from their numbers.

"Be quiet Ion or Opal will hear our plans for Enthallion. Who snores too by the way."
"He does not.... Tide, when was the last time you saw Opal?"
"Umm, two days ago?"
"Two days?! I was on patrol until late last night and you didn't notice my MATE was GONE!!"
"Ummm... no?"
"TIDE you inconsiderate, pea- brained, foregetful wretch of a stallion. The mother of my future foals is missing. And..." here he dropped his voice to a quiet but deadly murmer. "you better find her or I will stuff the entire great pine DOWN. YOUR. THROAT."
Tide didn't answer, he had spotted Enthallion coming around the tree and a look of pain crossed the black and white stallions face.
Enthallion looked at the sweating and vibrating Ion and then turned his gaze on Tide. "Surely your snoring could not have ruffled him this much?"Ion did not get mad often and Enthallion was getting a bad feeling about this.
"Opal. is. missing." Ion choked out. "My Opal."
"My mother? Mother is MISSING?!" Enthallion now shook with fear. His mother gone. Was it the six? The horses who had taken his birth mother so many years ago? Had they also taken the mother of his heart?

Taoshira woke up to shouts. While she woke from her deep slumber, she could only comprehend a few words. "Opal." "Gone" "Missing" "Mother." She heard the voices of the two brothers and her Thali. By now, she was awake and alert. Tashi saw how Thali was shaking and quickly went to comfort him. "Whats going on Thali?" She asked worriedly.

Meanwhile..........
Opal yawned getting slowly to her feet. She looked around not positive as to where she was. She just remembered some horses fighting and being yelled at to run. Course she couldn't run to well yet. But run she did in any direction. She surveyed the area unfamiliar with her location. "Damn it. Why didn't I take more time to learn the area? I swear I'm going to make Ion show me around so I can always find my way home." She stamped a hoof annoyed with herself before taking a drink from the nearby creek.

Enthallion turned to Tao and buried his face on her neck. "My mother is missing, she hasn't been seen for two days. It is so unlike her." Thali's voice was cracking.
"We must start our search now, as soon as possible. Tide take the mountain range up by the crags. Tao, can you and Enthallion hunt around the lake? And I will hunt outside of that circle. I will be the farthest away so if anything goes wrong go find Tide."
"If we find Opal, we are to bring her back here yes?" asked Tide.
"Yes we should all return here come sundown. Let's get to it and find Opal."
Enthallion peeked out at the herd leader from Tashi's neck. Ion was putting a strong face on but underneath there was a lot of fear, and that scared Thali more than anything.

"We'll look there." Tashi confirmed with a nod. It was important that they find Opal quick before anything happened, that is, as long as nothing had happened already. "Ready Thali?" She asked, fully awake now. Tashi didn't know where the lake was, she was depending on Thali to lead, but two pairs of eyes were better than one. Maybe they would find clues or hints of Opal's whereabouts so they could stay on the right path and, hopefully, find her before sundown.

Opal sighed then started surveying the area. It was so barren and and bleak here. She suddenly felt scared. She had some how ran straight into the territory of the Six. North is where she needed to go. She looked around spotting what looked like greener pastures and started running in that direction. It hurt she soon slowed to a crawl. She could only run in bursts it seemed. But she had to get out of these lands before she was found.

That it Hellfyre was officially lost, he figured he had gone way to far south. The trees looked funny there was no lake what so ever and the horses here looked distinctly unfriendly. He was never taking directions from his mother again! Hell looked around the land trying to get his bearings. Hmm there was a colorful white mare over there or there was that red eyed blue stallion. Hell decided to ask the mare for directions.
"Excuse me ma'am can you point me in the direction of Equi'Amiticia?"

Opal gave Hellfyre a startled look. "Shut up you!" She hissed out. "You are going to get us discovered and then all hell is going to break loose." Her voice became a squeak. "Come on we need to head North. If they realize we are from there they will capture us. And who knows what they will do to us! They will torture us or worse kill us!" She nudged him in the back. "Get moving you oaf!" Her number one priority was getting the hell out of the Six's lands alive.

As it turns out I should have asked the stallion, Hellfyre thought to himself as he was harried away. "Jeez lady you didn't have to bite my head off. You would be less conspicuous if you relaxed more you know. They will notice that you are all flighty and come check it out." Hellfyre was not worried about himself but had noticed the freshly heeled knees on the white mare. He wondered how she had been injured. "Perhaps you are one of the Six and are leading me on? How do I know?"

Enthallion spoke to Tao as the other two left. " What will we do if we don't find her? What if she is hurt.. or worse? Her knees were weak. Oh what to do, what to do?"

Opal was slow moving her knees were giving her great pain but she was not going to sit here. "Then get away from me if you want to get captured. Because I don't!" Thoughts raced through her head. All she wanted to do was get home again. If Hellfyre had taken a closer look he would realize she was a bit pudgy around her belly. Which gave the mare more then enough reason to be worried about being found out here and taken. She had noticed she was starting to pack on a few more pounds so maybe she had taken to foal. She gave a small strangled cry thinking it was possible she would never see Ion and Thali again.

Taoshira nuzzled him again. "Don't worry, we'll find her Thali. We'll look everywhere, and if we go as fat as we can today, we'll get twice that far tomorrow. It's ok. We're going to find her." She tried to put on a brave face for Thali, because she knew he was genuinely scared. "Chances are, she went off to have some alone time, we mares like to do that you know, and she just got lost." She said encouragingly. "Lets head out." Tashi said in a tone of finality, itching to get a start on the search, the sooner they found Thali's adoptive mother the better.

Enthallion meekly followed Tashi out. He believed her, and he trusted her, if she said it would be all right then it had to be so. He plodded along carefully with his head down, careful not to step on her heels. *** Hellfyre decided to shut up and let this strange mare lead him out of the Six's land. Hopefully she knew where she was going. But if she was down here why wasn't she up there? Hellfyre shook his head. She seemed very very stressed and he just couldn't see the point, sure they may get captured but he was confident in his abilities to escape and maybe kick a few butts while he was at it.

Opal looked around spotting something she could get up on that was higher then the trees. She carefully climbed up and looked around. "Alright we are going the right way. Not far from here the land turns green once more." She let out a soft sigh. "I'll find my way home to you Ion." She muttered out loud not realizing it. She just wanted to get home to the safety of her mate and herd.
